At the end of the day, Hispanic voters do not behave as a monolith. They behave, as a group, like a somewhat typical swing voter. In some national elections, they?ll give 55% of their vote to Republicans, and in other elections, they?ll vote straight Dem. Neither party has figured out how to appeal to Hispanic voters with any consistency. But I?ll give the Biden-Harris campaign some credit: they?ve really been putting some effort into their appeals, and they?ve been trying to work out the complex puzzle of ?the Latin vote.? Politico just did a great piece about all of this.
In recent months, the Biden-Harris campaign has used high-profile surrogates from the Latin-American community, and they?ve picked up some big endorsements, like Eva Longoria, Luis Fonsi and Ricky Martin. This will probably help: Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have now endorsed the Biden-Harris ticket with a new IG video, which already has millions of likes and views. Jennifer has been a long-time Democratic Party supporter, but it?s still really nice to see these two power couples J-Rod and Joe & Jill chat with each other.

Jennifer Lopez has been under contract with Coach for a year now. She?s the global face of Coach, and while I don?t really associate her with the label immediately, it?s not a bad fit at all. Coach is, to me, neither low-end or high-end. They make good-quality products which are somewhat affordable. I guarantee that more than half of us have a Coach purse in our collection. My current favorite purse is a large black leather Coach shopper/tote with shoulder straps.
Anyway, Jennifer was not content to simply be the face of Coach. No, she also got to design a purse in association with the brand. And can I just say? I HATE IT!! It pains me to say that! I was a big fan of Jennifer?s Kohls collection because she did have a knack for making lots of cute, affordable mass market pieces. I guess this purse was supposed to be slightly more higher-end, but it really doesn?t look like a Coach piece, nor does it look like a cute purse.
One year after becoming the global face of Coach, Jennifer Lopez is launching her very first design collaboration with the brand: a color-blocked cross-body handbag. Billed as ?a bag that can keep up with her (and you),? the Coach x Jennifer Lopez ?Hutton? bag ($495) features snakeskin trim, a gold chain strap and rivets and a hang tag inscribed with the 51-year-old superstar?s signature.

On Sunday, JLo announced that her makeup and skincare line, JLo Beauty, will be launching. We dont know what soon means as she had been working on the products since 2018. I am sure due to COVID, the launch of many things has been slowed down or halted completely.
Several celebrities such as Rihanna, Kat Von D, and Lady Gaga have put out cosmetics and beauty line and have since made a lot of cold hard cash. According to a trademark and patent application from 2018, JLo Beauty will have skincare products such as moisturizers, body and face creams, face cleansers, serums and cosmetics. According to a trademark filed last December with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, JLo Beauty will include cosmetics ? perhaps including the eye-shadow, bronzer, highlighter and glossy lip color Lopez was wearing in her selfies.
But the real focus seems to be on skincare, with moisturizers, cleansers, soaps, gels, lotions, serums, masks and both face and body creams all named in the filing.

Now the Gen-X and Millennials will have the products they need to recreate that dewy perpetually youthful (but not oily or sweaty) JLo glow. Ok, I am the Gen-Xer. That whole lit from within look is the beauty move of the millennia. Of course no topical products can fully reproduce that full glow, it also takes good eating and sleeping habits and lots of hydration.
I am sure J to the Lo wont just slap her name on anything. I do believe she and a team have been working tirelessly to create a great product. It will also be interesting to find out what the price points will be. Ill continue to look out for the launch and reviews. I am sure it will be a successful venture. It is also promising that another woman of color, particularly a Latinx, is entering the $100 billion dollar a year beauty industry.

The idea of borrowing a huge sum of money makes my skin itch. Mortgages are one thing, although I do believe people should be realistic about how much house they actually need, you know? But getting a loan to buy a sports team? I would be racked with anxiety. I would spin out the worst case scenario, which would obviously be ?holy sh-t, how could I ever pay back $2 billion dollars?? But Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are different. They apparently went to JP Morgan to raise capital for a proposed purchase of the Mets franchise. Whew.
Retired baseball star Alex Rodriguez and his fianc, recording artist and actor Jennifer Lopez, have retained JPMorgan Chase to raise capital for a possible bid on the New York Mets, people familiar with the matter said. The superstar couple is working with managing director Eric Menell, the bank?s co-head of North American media investment banking, said the people, who were granted anonymity because the matter is private. Menell didn?t respond to several requests seeking comment. Representatives for Rodriguez and Lopez did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The Wilpon family, which owns the Mets, said in December they were in talks to sell up to 80% of the Major League Baseball team to hedge fund titan Steve Cohen in a deal that valued the club at $2.6 billion. Under terms of that proposed deal, the Wilpons would?ve maintained control of the franchise for five years. Negotiations fell apart after Cohen sought to amend the terms. The Mets have retained Allen & Co.?s Steve Greenberg to oversee the sale process.
It isn?t uncommon for an athlete, entertainer or celebrity to hold a limited position in a professional sports team. A-Rod?s former teammate, Derek Jeter, for instance, is a part owner of baseball?s Miami Marlins. The team?s managing partner is venture capitalist Bruce Sherman, while Jeter, who owns about 4% of the club, runs business and baseball operations. Jeter contributed about $25 million to the purchase of the team, which was sold for $1.2 billion.
A-Rod and J-Lo, as the recording artist is known, would similarly require deep-pocketed partners in order to pull off the purchase. Their combined net worth is about $700 million.
Unlike with Cohen, no preconditions regarding control of the team will be attached to the sale. Cohen holds an 8% stake in the Mets. The Wilpons assumed control of the franchise in 2002 at a valuation of $391 million. Whoever buys the team will assume annual losses of at least $50 million.

Wait, so are J-Rod looking to purchase the 80% of the franchise on offer? Or are they just looking for a limited position, like Jeter has with the Marlins, like Serena Williams has a limited ownership stake in the Miami Dolphins, etc. To me, it?s one thing if you?re investing your own fortune in a limited stake in a professional team. That, to me, sounds like a good investment in the long run. But it sounds like J-Rod want to own 80% of the Mets franchise and they?re going to borrow more than $2 billion to get it. And they?re not even married! Think about how messy this would be if they did marry? and divorce. Also: this was totally a plotline on Billions, remember? Only instead of the Mets, it was an NFL franchise.

My gym has been closed since? March 15th. Which I think was completely responsible. I went to the gym like I usually do in that week before it closed, and people had already started to avoid it. There were signs all around about wiping down equipment and covering your mouth if you cough. At first, my YMCA just announced that they were shutting down for two weeks. Then they extended the shutdown for another month, and I fully expect another extension to at least June. My point is that I miss the gym. I miss the controlled environment, I miss zoning out on the treadmill and the bike and doing my rotations on weight machines. I miss it all. And I?ll be there whenever the gym opens up again. And in the meantime, I?m walking and hiking outdoors and it?s fine and enjoyable (but I?m still gaining weight).
Here?s what I would never do, though: I would never expect my gym to open just for ME. If you?re a rich celebrity, you?re used to getting special, exclusive access to everything. For Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, that apparently means using their VIP status to get a Miami gym to open just for them.

Jennifer Lopez was snubbed for an Oscar nomination for Hustlers. She played a stripper who developed a scheme to drug rich dudes and steal their money, and she led the gang of strippers who rolled dozens perhaps hundreds of men this way. It was honestly one of the best performances of her career and a great reminder that J.Lo can still do THAT, meaning she can just kill a dramatic roll and play a gangster. While Jen was nominated for a Golden Globe and SAG, she was snubbed for BAFTA and Oscar nominations. I couldn?t figure out why Academy voters had such an issue until the Hollywood Reporter published their Brutally Honest Oscar Ballots and one dude basically could not wrap his head around the idea of a lady playing a gangster. That?s all it was dudes (aka Oscar voters) hated the idea of a hot woman doing gangster sh-t and not caring about the dudes who only see her as a sexual object. Anyway, it turns out that Jennifer really was upset about the Oscar nomination snub:
After months of buzz for her scene-stealing role in Hustlers, Jennifer Lopez said not getting nominated for an Academy Award was disappointing.
?I was a little sad because there was a lot of buildup to it,? the superstar, 50, told Oprah Winfrey at the media mogul?s 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus Tour on Saturday. ?I got so many good notices ? more than ever in my career. And I?m reading all the articles and I?m going, ?Oh my God, could this happen?? And then it didn?t and it was like, ?Ouch.? It was a bit of a letdown.?
Lopez went on to share that she couldn?t help but feel like she had let down everybody who has supported her for decades.
?Most of my team has been with me for years,? she said. ?I think they had a lot of hopes on that. They wanted it too, and I felt like I let everybody down a little bit.?
?But you didn?t!? replied Winfrey, as Lopez explained that while she knew that wasn?t really the case, ?I felt like that for a bit.?
However, while Lopez may have been snubbed by the Oscars, she ultimately realized that she didn?t need another accolade to ?tell me I?m enough.?
?I needed to go through the Oscar snub, the Super Bowl being, you know, what it is ? all of the things that I went through in the last year,? she said, noting that after being rewarded and let down, she realized, ??Oh my God, I don?t need that. I?m actually here and I am okay and I am enough. I don?t need this award right here to tell me I?m enough. I don?t need it.? ?

This made me feel so sad for her, honestly. Like, I know she?s rich and successful as hell and she has three huge mansions around the country. But she really did deserve an Oscar nomination. I will never forgive Laura Dern for that sh-t! Dern ended up sweeping the awards for just playing a version of Laura Wasser. Anyway? it fking sucks that every gdamn year, Academy voters go out of their way to make an actor of color feel like sh-t, feel like they?re not good enough or that they didn?t do enough to ?earn? a place at the table. J.Lo was this year?s Idris Elba.

On the plus side, my nemesis Laura Dern didn?t win the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress. On the other hand, neither did Jennifer Lopez! That award went to The Farewell?s Zhao Shuzhen, who could not travel to the LA for Oscar weekend because of the Cononavirus. The way it ended up, Jennifer Lopez didn?t even get on stage at the Spirit Awards! Which is horrible if you have J.Lo at your weird tent-awards show, put her on stage for something! Alas, it did not happen. Jennifer was all glammed out with no place to go other than her giant mansion and probably a million Oscar parties. Most people wear suits or simple boho looks for the Spirit Awards. Not J.Lo she wore this great, glam Valentino look and she looked amazing. While she didn?t get on stage, she was front and center and there were tons of cutaways.

Sometimes, even when the Super Bowl Half-time show has good performers, it can still be a disaster. Sometimes, there will be bad performers doing a bad performance. The trickiest is when there?s a mediocre performer and they kill it. I?m thinking of Katy Perry, who managed to put together a surprisingly good/bizarre/interesting Half-time show several years back. Now, I like Shakira and Jennifer Lopez a lot for different reasons they?re both good dancers, Shakira is amazingly talented musically and Jennifer is a great celebrity (meaning, she?s gossip-worthy as hell).
So, I thought it was cool that they were doing it together in MIAMI. But I was not prepared for the show to feel so fun!! They set it up so Shakira got the first half and Jennifer the second half, then they came together at the end, with J Balvin and Bad Bunny coming in for drop-bys with ?Mi Gente,? ?Que Calor,? ?I Like It? and ?Mia.? And yes, both Shakira and J.Lo performed their classics! WAITING FOR TONIGHT! Empire! Wherever, Whenever. Love Don?t Cost A Thing! Jenny From the Block! AND Shakira opened with ?She Wolf,? one of my favorites.
Shakira?s half absolutely killed it, honestly. Jennifer? um, her strength isn?t her voice. But she was dancing and she was joyful and the Puerto Rico flag!! All in all, this was one of the best Half-time shows of the last? what? Five or six years? I?m struggling to remember when Maroon 5 turned up. Sh-t, that was last year!! YIKES. Justin Timberlake was 2018. Lady Gaga the year before (I remember liking her performance, even though it felt off-brand for the Super Bowl). And then in 2016, that was when Beyonce stormed in with her Formation during Coldplay?s Halftime show. So, yeah. This was the best one since 2016, and even then? Shakira and J.Lo put on a much more cohesive show than that Coldplay/Beyonce/Bruno Mars mess.
