But Jen and A-Rod were seen out at dinner together a few days ago, so people were wondering what was up. As it turns out, he?s trying to worm his way back into her heart, or possibly her pants.
Why they reunited for dinner on April 25 at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles: They went there to talk business and how to move forward in a friendly way, a source close to Lopez tells PEOPLE. Jennifer and Alex are figuring out how to be exes and still remain friends, says the source.
Their main priority is their kids: They want to make sure sure their kids ? Lopezs 13-year-old twins Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and Rodriguezs daughters Ella, 13, and Natasha, 16, with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis ? are okay. They want to be as considerate of them as possible. Jennifer has been such a big part of Alexs daughters lives, and she will continue to be a big part, the source says of Lopez, who posted a sweet birthday tribute to Ella as an Instagram Story on April 21. She loves his girls. Their split is trickier because of the kids.
She?s going to keep living in Miami too: Jennifers kids attend school in Miami, so this will still be their home base, says the source.
Post-breakup, J.Lo is fine: Lopez has been fine, says the source. She is very strong and will continue to follow her heart. Now that filming has wrapped on her comedy Shotgun Wedding, Lopez is looking forward to a break. She is pretty tired from the intense filming schedule, the source says of the star, who filmed in the Dominican Republic over the past few months. So she is hoping to take a few days off soon to recharge.
A-Rod is not fine: On the other hand Rodriguez ? who currently appears as a Sunday Night Baseball analyst on ESPN ? is having more difficulty moving forward. Alex seems to have a harder time letting go, adds the source. He still wants to get back together with Jennifer. But to her, their relationship is over.

Jennifer dumped Alex: Multiple sources confirm in this weeks issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday, that it was Lopez, 51, who ultimately broke up with Rodriguez, 45. She insisted on it. There are too many issues that are unresolved, says a friend of Lopez, who has been filming her upcoming comedy Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic over the past few months.
She didn?t trust him & she was miserable: In the end, the sources say, Lopez could no longer fully trust Rodriguez, who flew to visit her in the Dominican Republic days after they publicly acknowledged on March 15 they were working through long simmering issues. She has been pretty miserable, says the friend, and didnt think it was in her best interests to stay with Alex.
The lockdown exacerbated their issues: They both liked spending more time together as a family, but it was difficult to keep that special spark when they saw each other every day, another insider says of the couple, who were forced to cancel two wedding ceremonies because of the ongoing pandemic.
Alex?s cheating: Then, when Lopez headed to the Dominican Republic for work, rumors Rodriguez had a wandering eye added strain. While sources say infidelity wasnt the cause of their breakup, whether or not he has cheated doesnt matter, says a music source. She wont tolerate the fear of it in the air between them.
Separating their families & businesses: While the onetime power duo, dubbed J-Rod, also have several business ventures together and share properties in New York, Los Angeles and Miami, theyre especially sad for the kids since they are all so close, says the Lopez friend. Its not a good situation but inevitable.
Teflon Jen will be fine: Jennifer has been in these difficult situations before. She is not one to sit around and cry, says the friend. Her kids make her the happiest. She is doing well. Though ending things with Rodriguez wasnt easy, Lopez feels at peace with her decision. They will try to be friends, and there is respect there, says a Miami source. But they are definitely going their separate ways.
She?s hanging out with Marc Anthony: Shes also found support in Anthony, 52, who recently brought Max and Emme to the Dominican Republic to spend quality time with their mom. Jennifer and Marc have a great relationship, says the friend. Having him around while she has had to work abroad has been very comforting.

Well, everyone was right! Literally everyone in the comments and on social media said that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez would officially break up within a month, and that?s exactly what happened. On March 12th, Page Six and People Magazine both confirmed that Alex Rodriguez and J.Lo had broken up. By the next morning, they were back together and working through their issues. Alex came to visit her in the Dominian Republic and he seemed especially eager to make things right, probably because he had been cheating on her constantly and sliding into random reality stars? DMs. Jennifer stayed and I guess they figured out all of their joint business interests and all of that. So now almost one month later exactly, they?re over.
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are officially going their separate ways. The performing sensation and the former baseball slugger, who have been a couple since 2017, have called off their two-year engagement and will focus on remaining friends. The two revealed the news in an exclusive joint statement to TODAY.
?We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. People Magazine has a big exclusive about Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez?s split-and-takeback. This did not surprise me in the least Jennifer is definitely a fan of the old-school celebrity-media, and it makes perfect sense that she, Alex and their publicists would want to work with People to form a certain narrative about what?s been happening in the relationship/engagement. The one surprise in here is that it never occurred to me that J-Rod was having issues because of the pandemic. They were together for a year consistently, day after day, and they got on each other?s nerves. That actually makes a lot of sense! Of course, I also think he was banging everything with two legs and a pulse as well. Some highlights from this People story:
J-Rod is committed to giving it a chance: Alex flew to the Dominican Republic, and Jennifer was excited to see him in person, a source close to Lopez tells PEOPLE in this weeks issue, on newsstands Friday. They want to spend time in person to figure out their life together.
Jennifer will do what it takes: The past few days were upsetting and stressful, says the Lopez source. She and Alex have a lot of issues they hope they can work through, but they both seem willing to do whatever it takes to stay together.

Adds the Lopez source: They invested a lot into their relationship. An official split would be devastating on so many levels.

This story kind of bummed me out. I get the feeling that Jennifer is really, deeply unhappy with Alex but she?s forcing herself and being manipulated by him to do whatever she can to ?make it work.? Does Alex actually share that commitment to doing whatever it takes? Doubtful. So Jennifer has to do all of the emotional labor of reconciling even though she?s the one who wanted out in the first place. It just sucks. I really hope Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez?s breakup/makeup drama isn?t all for attention and headlines. That was not my impression when the breakup story broke on Friday it felt like a real breakup, about real grown-up sh-t like money and infidelity. But as they got back together on Saturday, it started to feel like a stunt. I don?t know? maybe it started as real and now they?re just milking it for attention? Perhaps. We do know because they?re telling us so that Alex flew to the Dominican Republic to be with Jennifer while she films a movie.

The Madison LeCroy-Alex Rodriguez story went down around February 9th/10th. That was when Madison told people that an ex-baseball player had been sliding into her DMs. People were convinced that the guy was A-Rod and there seems to be a growing pile of evidence to suggest that those assumptions were correct. In recent days, Page Six even dropped an interesting little gossip nugget: A-Rod got Madison to sign a nondisclosure agreement. Perfectly typical for someone you claim to have never met, right? So, obviously, that whole thing embarrassed the hell out of A-Rod and Jennifer Lopez. But was it the thing which started this whole breakup/reconcile drama? J-Rod keeps insisting the LeCroy thing had nothing to do with anything. Which is why I think it was the first domino in what was probably a series of revelations about Alex?s philandering.

Sources close to the baseball legend shot down the rumors to The Post last month by saying, ?He doesn?t know this woman.? LeCroy, however, admitted the couple have ?spoken on the phone,? but have ?never met up? to Page Six. LeCroy did not comment when Page Six reached out to her on Friday.

So the news broke on Friday evening, as so many celebrity split announcements do. Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have broken up and called off their engagement, sources confirmed to Page Six, E! News and People Magazine. J-Rod had been together for four years, and their extended two year engagement was mostly because they kept having to cancel their wedding plans because of the pandemic. Jennifer seemed rather ambivalent about the wedding cancellations, which should have been our first sign that something was amiss. People?s source said the breakup ?has been a long time coming. They are tied in their business worlds so its not a cut and dry breakup. Its taken a while for them to even think about untangling it all. A long time coming hmmmm. Many questioned why Jennifer Lopez was asked to perform at the inauguration. But for years now, Jennifer has been a pretty big Democratic Party supporter and fundraiser and an advocate for the Latin vote. She did virtual appearances and interviews for the Biden-Harris campaign, and my guess is that President Biden just likes J.Lo. What I found questionable was how J.Lo?s fiance Alex Rodriguez got such prominent seating at the inauguration and how much camera-time he got. Gross. But Jennifer was? fine.
It was fine! Aggressively fine. I?m not going to nitpick, it was okay. My favorite part was the fact that You Know Who was enraged over the fact that such cool people came out to the Biden-Harris inauguration. What she said in Spanish was ?One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice of all.?
As for Jennifer?s look, she wore head-to-toe Chanel, including Chanel-branded jewelry. I like that she didn?t play it down, actually. She?s J.Lo! We shouldn?t expect her to leave her sparkle at home because she?s in Washington. We want to see the sparkle!

If you were super-rich with multiple homes across the world, where would you have gone during this ghastly pandemic year? I would have opted for a beach house with close access to medical centers and grocery stores. Like, somewhere in the Hamptons, I guess. Jennifer Lopez did something different though she seemed to spend most of the pandemic in either Miami or New York City. For months now, it feels like she?s been getting pap?d pretty regularly in NYC. She?s always wearing a mask, so there?s that.
Jennifer has a reason to be in New York these days though she?s in rehearsals for her performance at Dick Clark?s New Year?s Rockin? Eve, which airs on ABC. That?s why she?s been photographed so much recently paps have her studio space staked out, and they?re getting photos of her coming and going. Yesterday, she was seen in this ensemble a white mask, white joggers, white sneakers, white fur and a white crocodile Hermes Birkin bag. This is one of the infamous Herms Himalayan crocodile Birkin bags, which Vogue calls ?the most expensive Birkin? in the world. The larger version, with white gold and diamonds on the hardware, retails for $432,000. It?s likely that Jennifer?s smaller version which probably is NOT diamond-encrusted likely retails for over $100K. So, you know, just a perfect little bag for when you?re dropping by a studio space for sweaty rehearsals.
What?s even funnier to me is that she paired her Nike socks with her Alexander McQueen oversized sneakers, which cost $540. All that with the Birkin and the fur. I love J.Lo, she?s a little bit loca, as Hilaria Baldwin would say.
