Sometimes, even when the Super Bowl Half-time show has good performers, it can still be a disaster. Sometimes, there will be bad performers doing a bad performance. The trickiest is when there?s a mediocre performer and they kill it. I?m thinking of Katy Perry, who managed to put together a surprisingly good/bizarre/interesting Half-time show several years back. Now, I like Shakira and Jennifer Lopez a lot for different reasons they?re both good dancers, Shakira is amazingly talented musically and Jennifer is a great celebrity (meaning, she?s gossip-worthy as hell).
So, I thought it was cool that they were doing it together in MIAMI. But I was not prepared for the show to feel so fun!! They set it up so Shakira got the first half and Jennifer the second half, then they came together at the end, with J Balvin and Bad Bunny coming in for drop-bys with ?Mi Gente,? ?Que Calor,? ?I Like It? and ?Mia.? And yes, both Shakira and J.Lo performed their classics! WAITING FOR TONIGHT! Empire! Wherever, Whenever. Love Don?t Cost A Thing! Jenny From the Block! AND Shakira opened with ?She Wolf,? one of my favorites.
Shakira?s half absolutely killed it, honestly. Jennifer? um, her strength isn?t her voice. But she was dancing and she was joyful and the Puerto Rico flag!! All in all, this was one of the best Half-time shows of the last? what? Five or six years? I?m struggling to remember when Maroon 5 turned up. Sh-t, that was last year!! YIKES. Justin Timberlake was 2018. Lady Gaga the year before (I remember liking her performance, even though it felt off-brand for the Super Bowl). And then in 2016, that was when Beyonce stormed in with her Formation during Coldplay?s Halftime show. So, yeah. This was the best one since 2016, and even then? Shakira and J.Lo put on a much more cohesive show than that Coldplay/Beyonce/Bruno Mars mess.

Here are some photos of Jennifer Lopez and Shakira at their press conference for the Super Bowl LIV Pepsi Halftime Show. Jennifer has been pretty quiet since she was snubbed for an Oscar nomination (and no, I?m not getting in this fight again, she was SNUBBED). Part of me thinks that she was terribly hurt to not get a nomination, and part of me thinks that ultimately, she doesn?t care *that* much, especially because she?s probably been knee-deep in preparations for the Half-time show. Meanwhile, I haven?t seen photos of Shakira since last November, when she was attending some tennis matches in Madrid after her husband bought Davis Cup and utterly ruined it. Yes, I?m still bitter.
Anyway, I think J.Lo is supposed to be the main act and then Shakira is the special guest star, but you know the Super Bowl, they?ll probably have a dozen other ?guest stars.? Since it?s in Miami, I?m guessing Pitbull? Gloria Estefan? Jennifer and Shakira wouldn?t spill, but they said they?ve packed a lot into their 12-minutes. They were also asked about Kobe Bryant and whether they would honor him in any way, and Jennifer said there will be a ?heartfelt moment? for him. My guess is some kind of representation with his jersey numbers (8 and 24).
People are also obsessed with Shakira and J.Lo?s mismatched style vibes at the presser. J.Lo was doing her J.Lo thing, looking like the accountant of a high-end brothel, while Shakira was in ripped jeans and a Guns & Roses t-shirt. I?ll blow your mind? did you know Shakira is 42 years old? Jennifer is 50! Crazy.
Also: stop disrespecting Shakira?s career, damn it. Shakira is a GLOBAL icon.

I feel a legit pang of sympathy for Jennifer Lopez. Two months ago, I would have said that Jennifer was the one to beat for Best Supporting Actress awards. But she hasn?t won any of the big awards, and she didn?t even get nominated for an Oscar. It sucks. And I feel like her style this year has reflected that she just looks sad and droopy and like she?s about to cry. ME TOO, JEN. Her SAG Award ensemble was by Georges Hobeika. It? was depressing. I actually halfway hope this is the last time we see her during the awards season I?m sure she?ll be offered an Oscar presenter slot, and I?m sure she?ll be invited to the Vanity Fair Oscar party. But she should skip it. Just stay home on Oscar night and tell all of those motherfkers to kiss her ass.
Phoebe Waller Bridge wore Armani and man, she has a great figure. I really like the dress too it?s perfect, a great blend of chilled-out and glam. I?m adding bonus photos of Andrew Scott, who lost but seemed to have a great time anyway.

We?ve seen it happen to many a Fashion Girl after years of slaying every red carpet when they?re just a presenter, suddenly Fashion Girls FREEZE when they?re actually nominated for something. That happened to Jennifer Lopez. She didn?t know how to present herself! Should she go with some sexy, curve-hugging number? Should she go full-glam diva? Should she go for Dripping In Jewels? She couldn?t decide. So we get this absolute mess of a Valentino gown. I felt sorry for her, because her face telegraphed the fact that she knew she made a huge mistake. She didn?t strut around the Golden Globes red carpet like she owned it. Poor Jen. It also sucks that she lost the Best Supporting Actress Globe to Laura fking Dern. Well, at least she didn?t have to pose with a Globe statue wearing this stupid dress?
The gown in Valentino. The Valentino people should have talked her out of it. She should have talked herself out of it! She must have been thinking about Christmas gifts when she chose this dress. Ugh, I feel so bad for her. She froze, it happens to the best of us. I actually like the styling hair, makeup and jewelry are all on point. A-Rod looks Botoxed though.

Every year, I forget that the Palm Springs International Film Festival is a thing. Every year, the PSIFF starts a few days before the Golden Globes, and the festival serves as one of the biggest pushes for Oscar hopefuls it?s an easy journey from LA to Palm Springs, and most celebrities seem to like spending a few days in the desert, where they attend screenings, Q&A sessions and receive ?awards.? Last night was the opening ceremony for the PSIFF and as always, it was well-attended by people who are already in the area for this weekend?s Golden Globes.
Jennifer Lopez is, I hope, a sure thing for Best Supporting Actress across the board for Hustlers. She?s brilliant in it and I?m loving her Oscar campaign too I suspect she might have hired an Oscar-campaign consultant? Anyway, she had the biggest ?look? of the opening night gala, this Richard Quinn floral number with a long-ass train. It?s very girly and Audrey Hepburn-esque. Her date was Alex Rodriguez, who will probably attend every event with her this season, right?
You know what surprises me a little? A few years ago, Joaquin Phoenix pitched a fit about having to participate in an Oscar campaign, but he hasn?t said one word about campaigning for Joker. He even brought his mom to Palm Springs.
Charlize Theron in Christian Dior. I thought this was boring as hell until I saw the netting. The netting makes this very good!
Greta Gerwig in Gucci her fashion has been so bad so far. This is awful. It makes her look like she has a ?hairy chest.? BIB TASSELS.
Renee Zellweger in Jason Wu. I don?t hate this at all? She looks good.
Laura Dern in Erdem. My Nemesis loves a cheap-looking floral.
Salma Hayek in black, maybe Gucci? It?s okay. It could have veered too much towards goth/somber, but she pulls it off.

I celebrated Christmas is Virginia, where it?s reached a balmy 60-some degrees throughout the week. I wore a short-sleeved t-shirt throughout much of the day on Christmas Day. I follow some Southern Hemisphere peeps on Instagram, and it looks like there are a lot of South Americans having a sweltering holiday too. CB is down in Florida, and I?m sure it?s quite hot down there too. Maybe CB has run into Jennifer Lopez, who is wandering around Miami in red spandex. Jennifer went for a Christmas Eve workout at a local Miami gym and the Miami-based paparazzi caught sight of her in this get-up.
So? let?s talk about holiday exercise, something I think about a lot. One of my Christmas gifts to myself this year was ?not working out for three full days.? I used to want to get in a lot of workouts at the end of the year, when my schedule is lighter and before the gym gets swarmed by sweaty, dawdling newbies come the New Year. But? I don?t do that anymore. My body can?t handle it, for one. But I actually find it depressing to go endlessly to the gym around Christmas (I?m still going today, for what it?s worth). This is the time of year when we should be eating Christmas chocolate and feeling sick from all of the mashed potatoes. Sigh?
In Jennifer?s case, she?s probably keeping up with her fitness and then some because she?s going to have an amazing fashion show throughout the awards season, where she?s likely to win most of the Best Supporting Actress awards. She wants to keep lean for the sake of the couture come January. I admire her willpower and professionalism.
I honestly cannot believe that ass is 50. Glorious. She was super-proud of how she looked in this ensemble too, she even posted a selfie on Instagram.

It is my hope and belief that Jennifer Lopez walks into the Oscars as a sure thing for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Hustlers. Hustlers is a good movie with a GREAT performance by Jennifer. Every now and then, she?ll remind us that she can really ACT. She did it in Out of Sight and Selena. And she did it again in Hustlers. But let?s also be honest: Jennifer will likely win an Oscar based on her first scene in the film, where she does the most amazing dance on the stage, with the stripper pole. It was one of the greatest moments in cinema this decade, and I?m not even fking joking. But some people HATERS and Mariah Carey fans want to make us believe that Jennifer had some kind of body double or dancer-double in the stripping scene. NO. We will not stand for this slander. Jennifer Lopez isnt about to pull a Natalie Portman and win an Oscar based on someone elses dance.
Jennifer was on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night, and he asked her about That Scene, how Jennifer asked that the scene be added to the script and how there was NOT a body double. You can see that part around the 5-minute mark, but the whole interview is good.
When Fallon mentions that she did not have a body double, Jennifer tells him ?I have the bruises, I took pictures to prove itI said, ?I dont care if I look like a bat hanging upside down? my face is crunched, ?make sure you get me,? I dont want anybody thinking?? Yeah. It?s ALL J.Lo. And it is glorious and Oscar-worthy! Anyway, she?s the host for this weekend?s Saturday Night Live. Here are some promo videos:

The Governors Awards were held last night in Hollywood. The Governors Awards have become one of the highlights of the awards season for many celebrities it?s not an awards show with any stress, there are no ?surprise winners,? and the show isn?t televised live. Sure, it?s a chance for actors and directors with awards-baity films to get some face time in with influential Oscar voters. But mostly, it just seems like a low-key night where they give time to all of the year?s honorary Oscar winners. Jennifer Lopez REALLY wants an Oscar nomination for Hustlers, and honestly, I hope she gets one. I hope she wins too. This Reem Acra dress is so powerful and striking.
Dakota Johnson in Brandon Maxwell. This looks like a Millennial wedding gown. And lord, Dakota is TINY.
Scarlett Johansson in Celine. You know what cracks me up? It?s very likely that ScarJo will receive her first Oscar nomination next year, and throughout her Oscar campaign thus far, she?s looked absolutely awful. Terrible makeup, terrible hair, bad gowns. Her stylists must hate her.
Lupita Nyong?o can wear anythingexcept baby bangs? Seriously, is this a joke? Lupita is one of the most beautiful women in the world and you decide to ruin that gorgeous face with terrible itty-bitty baby bangs?? Gross. Her dress her is Givenchy and it?s not cute.

As we discussed Jennifer Lopez?s 21-year-old Movieline interview, a few commenters noted that nothing really sticks to J.Lo, that she?s basically the Teflon Don of Hollywood/music/gossip. I?d never thought about that before but it?s so true. Even if she has a bad news cycle (like that Movieline interview cropping up again, or Bennifer 1.0), she always seems to survive and thrive. It?s the weirdest thing. Anyway, Jennifer is about to have the best six months of her life. She?s a shoo-in (right now) for Best Supporting Actress for Hustlers, and the NFL has just named her the 2020 Super Bowl Half-time act. This has been rumored for weeks, and the NFL and Pepsi announced it yesterday. Shakira will be there too!
Jennifer Lopez and Shakiras hips wont be lying in Miami come February the superstars are co-headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show. The singers made a cryptic announcement Thursday on social media posting images of each other in very similar outfits but without revealing their faces. They captioned their posts, Get ready and This is happening. Pepsi then posted the big reveal image showing both womens faces. BTW makes sense the NFL would draft co-headliners for the Miami event, because deuces are wild the Super Bowl date is 02/02/20.
When the NFL announced its new partnership with Jay-Z, it said his company, Roc Nation, would be helping secure talent for the Super Bowl Halftime Shows. Were told Roc Nation was heavily involved in closing this deal and we also hear there will be a few more surprise acts joining J Lo and Shakira. Shakira last released music in 2017 the album, El Dorado and in November shes releasing a feature film worldwide which documents the El Dorado tour. Jennifer just wrapped her own 2019 Its My Party Tour.

Honestly, it makes perfect sense it?s Miami, it?s J.Lo, it?s Shakira. It all fits. My guess is that there will also be some guest performances by some Cuban-American acts too, just because there?s so much Cuban and Cuban-American influence in Miami. Gloria Estefan? I WOULD DIE!!! Pitbull is also tight with J.Lo, so I bet he?s on board too.

When did Jennifer Lopez first become an ICON? Was it when she did Selena and she started getting invited to all of the big Hollywood events? Was it when Out of Sight became the best Steven Soderbergh movie ever? Was it when J.Lo first released On the 6 and fully became the ?triple-threat?? Was it Bennifer 1.0? Was it her relationship with Puffy? Or was it when she stepped out at the 2000 Grammys in that iconic green Versace dress with the plunging V-neck down to her navel? That was definitely one of the biggest moments. I choose to believe Jennifer was an icon before then, but that one moment definitely threw her into the stratosphere.
That was 19 years ago. Jennifer still has the dress. But Donatella Versace made her a new one out of the same material (or very similar material) and Jennifer decided to? walk the Versace runway during Milan Fashion Week. Check out this fking strut:
Donatella asked Jennifer to come and walk in this dress specifically. And Vogue was there to document it, and they did an interview with Jennifer as we approach the 20-year anniversary of THE DRESS. This is pretty cool:
It?s crazy to think that it?s been almost 20 years since that moment. It?s crazy to think that Jennifer is the reason why Google Images exist. It?s crazy to think that Jennifer is 50 years old and she still looks THIS amazing. Fifty years old, and brilliantly playing a stripper in Hustlers, and she?ll likely get her first-ever Oscar nomination for it too. She will deserve the nomination, and just my opinion: she?ll deserve the Oscar too. And on Oscar night, I hope she?s wearing something this sexy and provocative.
