Halle Berry’s passport is certainly getting some use as of late. Earlier this month, the 51-year-old actress spent some time in India on a spiritual retreat. Then last week she decided to spend the Thanksgiving holiday on the exotic island of Bora Bora. Instead of a gaggle of gal pals, Halle’s traveling companion on this island getaway was her new beau, 35-year-old music producer Alex da Kid.
Halle announced her new coupling in an Instagram post back in September, which came on the heels of an August interview where she told PEOPLE that she was on a dating hiatus, wanting a “minute to be with myself.” Well, I guess that was a minute, huh?
Hey, you (well, maybe just me) can’t blame her for wanting to spend the holidays with someone special, especially in such a romantic locale. The couple shared their vacation snaps via social media and it sure looked like an amazing trip. They seemingly checked off every single item on the ideal tropical vacation list, including swimming, jet-skiing, soaking in some local culture and enjoying some adult beverages by the crystal blue waters. (Yes, I am jealous.) Halle posted an introspective photo, looking out at the ocean, with the caption, “What I call distancing myself from the bulls–t!”

Like many women, myself included, Halle Berry, 50, hasn?t had the best of luck with men. After unsuccessful marriages to David Justice, Eric Bent and Olivier Martinez, Halle has decided to give her faulty picker a break and take some time out of the dating pool.
The steak loving, shot-taking lady has been promoting her latest movie Kidnap, which isn?t quite the critical darling I?m sure she hoped it would be. It?s currently sitting at 39% on Rotten Tomatoes.
As part of her press tour, she spoke with PEOPLE?s Jess Cagle about her hiatus, which she say?s she?s been enjoying. She told him, ?I?m just with my kids and I?m really taking time to think and reflect, and trying to figure out how to make different choices and just have a minute to be with myself.? She goes on to say, ?I think this is proving to be a really valuable time. I never really took time like this to be with myself.?
Getting to know herself has come with some additional benefits. Halle has learned that ?I can be alone,? adding, “And that?s been a big lesson for me. I?m learning that I?m fearless, because I had so many fears as I went through my third divorce, I was afraid to do that. But I was more afraid living unhappy, so I faced that fear.?
She then went on to quote every inspirational post I?ve ever seen on Facebook, by saying her singleton status is ?teaching me to always live out loud, live your truth, don?t let fear stifle you. Don?t be afraid of what people will think about the choices you make. That we need to live for ourselves and live for our own individual happiness.?
This interview is making the internet rounds just weeks after rumors surfaced linking Halle with British hip-hop producer Alex Da Kid, who has worked with Eminem and Nicki Minaj. According to RadarOnline, Halle was seen cozying up to Alex at Il Cielo in Beverly Hills on July 22. An ?inside source? told the website that ?She?s smitten with him. But friends know Halle makes such poor choices in men! He?s the quintessential bad boy. She?s bound to get hurt ? again!?
Hey, I get it. We all need a break and some time to re-evaluate why?s important. But, if Halle is ?in love with love? like many people who end up in bad relationship after bad relationship (and I?ve been guilty of this myself), it probably won?t be long before she?s taken again. I hope she really does learn from this self-imposed period of reflection. Halle deserves to be happy. She should burn that weird sack dress though.

Have you ever heard of The Chivas Venture? I?ll admit, I hadn?t. Chivas Regal hosts a contest each year in which innovative social businesses apply not only for funding but mentorship to accelerate their growth. Uh ? way to go Chivas! Each year, they select a celebrity to help judge the finalists. This year, they partnered with actress Halle Berry. So, way to go Halle! Halle gave an interview to Daily Nation to promote both the Chivas Venture and her new movie Kidnap. Since the bent of the contest is to enable businesses that want to create a better future, much of the discussion was about Halle?s views about making a difference in the world.
What made you get involved with Chivas Venture?
One, they asked me. (laughs) Two, I have known about this venture from the beginning and they have done such amazing work with the last two ventures and certainly you don?t expect an alcohol company to get into such initiatives.
You are very involved in humanitarian projects and use your name and brand to help the needy, what really motivated you to get involved?

Halle Berry is one busy lady, she?s currently promoting her upcoming action movie Kidnap, which will be released on August 4. In it she plays a tenacious mom who takes matters into her own hands and hunts down the kidnappers who snatched her son. Halle most likely drew on her experiences as a Mom to kids Nahla, 9, and Maceo, 3 for the role. Halle explained that she?s not expecting child number 3 anytime soon, despite rumors to the contrary. The 50-year-old actress snapped back at the rumors in an Instagram post on June 5, captioned, “Can a girl have some steak and fries??” If the photo is any indication, we should all be eating steak and fries if we have the potential to look like her.
Halle also addressed the rumors during a recent press event in L.A, telling Extra, ?It happens, you know? You eat too much before an event and you become pregnant.? When reporter Terri Seymour asked ?People don?t make comments like that to men, do they?? Halle responded with ?I?m not saying they don?t, but I haven?t come across a comment of someone talking about a man?s ‘pooch.’? Truer words have never been spoken.
On Saturday, Halle posted a photo on Instagram clad in workout gear and pushing what looks like an enormous armoire. She captioned the snap, ?Would you mess with this mother? #KidnapMovie #DontMessWithMom? Nope, Halle, I sure wouldn?t.

There?s a wonderful episode of 30 Rock where, because of shenanigans, Liz Lemon has to pretend to be pregnant to cover for Jack?s wife. Liz Lemon got manipulated into doing a ?pregnancy photoshoot,? and the result was excellent comedy:
That?s what Halle Berry was doing over the weekend at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball. Halle made sure to pose like a pregnant lady, with her hands gently pulling our eyes down to her ?baby bump.? Except that after everyone was like, ?Damn, is she pregnant at the age of 50,? Halle sent her rep out to deny the pregnancy story flatly. So what?s really going on?
My guess is that Halle was just being weird and/or thirsty? Maybe she just wanted some attention. It could have been some kind of performance art, just to see if people would get hysterical if she did a ?pregnancy pose.? Or maybe she honestly didn?t know people pose like that while pregnant?? Also: as for the father of this phantom baby, TMZ?s sources say that Halle isn?t really dating anyone right now anyway. Hm.

Here are some photos of Halle Berry at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball over the weekend. I swear, I looked through these photos on Sunday and I thought, ?she looks nice in that color, maybe if it?s slow, I?ll write about her outfit.? I swear I really did look through the pics and I really didn?t notice anything other than the dress. But look at how Halle is positioning herself in several of these photos. Look at the way she?s ?cradling? her midsection. Look at the small but visible ?bump.? Halle seems to want us to see that bump. Halle Berry is 50 years old. And now some people are like, ?Damn, is she preggo????
To be fair, few of us really expected Halle to announce her pregnancy the last time, when she was pregnant with son Maceo. She was 46-47 during that pregnancy, which happens sometimes – some ladies will have a fertility spike pre-menopause, in their 40s. I always believed that was what happened with Maceo too – I didn?t think Halle had fertility treatments, and I don?t even believe that she and Olivier Martinez were trying to have a baby. So did that happen again?
It seems strange to be bump-watching a 50-year-old woman – although, let?s face it, people are still doing that sh-t to Jennifer Aniston – but to be clear, people are talking about it because of the way Halle was posing. If she hadn?t been like ?look at my little bump,? I think most people would have just gone with the ?Halle wore a silver dress to a charity event, looked great? angle.
As for who allegedly put a baby in there, your guess is as good as mine. _(?)_/
Update: Halle’s rep tells Extra that Halle is not knocked up. So why the pose? No one knows.

Yes, as I said yesterday, I?m very into Halle Berry?s Oscar hair. Maybe it?s a wig, maybe she just spent hours getting her hair to look like this, whatever it is, I don?t care. I love it. I love that she went big and crazy and I love the way it looks around her face. It?s amazing. Halle had the same hair at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, only she switched up her Versace dresses. I loved her Oscar Versace and I really like this fun little cocktail Versace. She?s really killing it these days.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also wore Versace, and she walked the VF carpet with her man, Jason Statham, and a prominent baby bump. Rosie is glowing. So pretty!
Kate Hudson in Cavalli Couture. She?s done something different to her face, right? I?m not just imagining that? Anyway, I don?t have strong feelings about this Cavalli – it was beige/neutral and that was the trend this year. The design sucks though. It looks like she?s wearing an apron made out of pantyhose.
Scarlett Johansson wore another Azzedine Alaa dress for the VF party – this, to me, feels like her ?ScarJo: After Dark? look. I don?t like it.
Dakota Johnson in Gucci. Yet another example of someone saving the better dress for the after-parties. Dakota had no business in that sad Oscar dress – she should have worn this to the Oscars instead.

SHUT YOUR MOUTH, I LOVE THIS. I really do. Twitter blew up last night when Halle Berry arrived on the Oscar red carpet in this Versace and what looked like a backwards wig. First of all, the only thing wrong with the wig is that it distracted from what was actually one of the best gowns of the night! This Versace is really beautiful and flattering. Second of all, are we absolutely positive that this is a wig? Halle?s been growing out her hair for a few years, and I actually think the lopsided ?wig? effect is a genuine hairstyle designed to telegraph the fact that Halle has no f–ks to give. In any case, I love it, from lopsided curls down to the ground. She?s wearing everything like she?s having fun too.
After that entire controversy involving Karl Lagerfeld and accusations of cheapness, Meryl Streep didn?t even walk the Oscars red carpet to show off her custom Elie Saab! I guess I don?t blame her, really. She?s Meryl Streep, she got an Oscar nomination for a cheeseball performance and she got a standing ovation for just showing up, basically. As for this Elie Saab? it?s actually a pantsuit/gown hybrid. I would dislike this on someone else, but it sort of works on Meryl.
