Mark Wahlberg has one style of acting. He’s like the Will Ferrell of dramas. If you listen to his angry voice and happy voice, they’re basically the same thing with a minor fluctuation in tone. A computer analyzing the sound waves couldn’t even tell the difference. You could get more emotion out of a cardboard box. Plus, his voice is so monotone. Listening to him is like listening to a professor lecture about string theory.
Here’s Marky Mark on the set of The Fighter shirtless to take attention off of his wooden acting. Christian Bale is in this film too which could suck for Wahlberg. It’s like when I stand naked next to Brad Pitt. I almost feel embarrassed for the guy.

I sat through the 2001 Planet of The Apes remake silently praying the whole time that Mark Wahlberg would take his shirt off in at least one scene. Even when his damn space capsule crash landed in water, Wahlberg didn’t remove his shirt at all, nor did he wear a white shirt that got soaked to the best of my memory. It’s a shame, because that crapfest could have been moderately improved with several scenes of Wahlberg’s rippling abs.
It’s nice to see that over 15 years since the Marky Mark “Good Vibrations” video and Calvin Klein underwear ads, the 38 year-old father of three is still in top condition. Wahlberg wore some boxing shorts and little else except fake facial injuries on the Massachusetts set of The Fighter, the true story about two boxing brothers from South Boston who went out to face hard times when their careers ended. Yesterday we saw photos of Christian Bale looking shockingly thin on set. He plays Wahlberg’s half brother, who became addicted to crack.
Wahlberg plays “Irish” Mickey Ward, and according to Wikipedia the retired boxer is “best known for his trilogy of fights with the late Arturo Gatti” in the mid-90s. Ward’s older brother, Dickie Eklund, fought against Sugar Ray Leonard in 1978, and it looks like Leonard has at least a cameo in the film, as he was photographed on set. The film also stars Oscar nominated actresses Amy Adams and Melissa Leo. Leo is shown looking classy with poofy hair and a white button-up dress in the photos below.
Thanks to Fame Pictures for these photos, taken on set yesterday

This week’s Star Magazine claims that action star Mark Wahlberg has been staying at a hotel along right near his home. Mark has a five month old son and two other children at home and his excuse for staying at a hotel is supposedly that his son is teething and that he needs to sleep for work. His latest project isn’t filming at this point, though, and it seems like there should another bedroom or a couch he could sleep on that’s far away enough from the noise. Maybe their house is smaller than you would expect, though:
Is there trouble on the home front for Mark Wahlberg and his fiance, Rhea Durham? On Feb 15, the former rapper was spotted checking into the Beverly Hills Hotel, just minutes away from the house he shares with Rhea and their three children, Ella Rae, 5, Michael, 2, and Brenda, 5 months. One insider reveals that Mark has been telling friends he’s sleeping away from home because Brendan is teething and he needs a good night’s rest while working on his movie The Fighter - but the movie hasn’t even begun shooting! “Mark really dotes on his kids, so for him to leave and stay in a hotel less than five miles away seems strange,” says the insider.

This is Star Magazine, so it’s likely they’re only going on some photos that show Mark outside the hotel with a bag. The photo they include with the article has Wahlberg looking scruffy and grumpy in jeans, a jacket and work boots while carrying a small bag. It’s hard to tell if that photo was taken at the time they’re claiming. Mark looks annoyed to be photographed, but that’s how he always looks so who knows what’s going on with him.
The last we heard about Mark’s planned nuptials to Rhea, he said that they would have a small Catholic wedding in LA, maybe in late summer. You wonder if they’re going to make if offiical, though, if Mark is staying at a hotel right near his house. That seems more like relationship trouble than any kind of issue with a crying baby.

Mark Wahlberg is finally going to make an honest woman out of Rhea Durham, after making her jump through hoops for years. Mark and Rhea have been together for more than six years, this woman has given birth to three of Wahlberg?s children, and he?s made her (allegedly) sign away any financial interests in a really strict pre-nup.
Mark is talking to People Magazine about how he?s all about the traditional Catholic wedding. Not that I?m some sort of Catholic doctrine scholar, but getting married after having three children out of wedlock doesn?t scream ?tradition? to me. No judgment! Whatever makes Rhea happy, she?s waited for him long enough.
Mark Wahlberg and longtime girlfriend Rhea Durham tie the knot in Southern California, don’t expect his entourage to be in attendance.
“If we do it here [in L.A.], it’ll probably just be us and the kids,” Wahlberg, 37, told reporters at Monday’s Callaway Golf Foundation Challenge at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., benefiting the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s cancer research programs.
“If we do it in Boston, I would say there’d be a lot more family members, so there’ll be some fighting,” he joked.
Walberg and Durham, who have three children ? Ella Rae, 5, Michael, 2, and 4-month-old Brendan Joseph ? haven’t finalized all the wedding details, but the actor says it will most likely happen in August and will “definitely [be] in a Catholic church.”
And even with some sibling rivalry in the Wahlberg household, the Entourage executive producer says the family’s newest addition, Brendan Joseph, is doing well and is “well behaved.”
“He doesn’t go crazy like the other little ones,” he explained. “They love him. Everybody wants mommy’s attention but they love him.”
From People Magazine
My heart melts a little when Mark talks about his kids. I really do adore him as an actor, but I?d be willing to bet he?s a douche in his private life, the kind of guy who thinks he?s God?s gift to women. ?Meh? to all of that, but congratulations to the happy couple. I hope this time Rhea actually gets him down the aisle.
