George Clooney?s star-studded Haiti relief telethon is coming on tonight, on pretty much every channel you could think of. CNN, MTV, ABC, NBC, VH1, and many, many more. Clooney admitted in a new interview that he?s been up for days trying to organize this thing, and last minute guests and performers are still being added today. Meanwhile, there has been some talk of making the guests and performers pay a ?cover charge? for entry into the telethon, but it hasn?t really gotten any traction. It might have been a good idea, but I think Clooney is just focused on getting the damn thing on the air without any technical difficulties and he?s probably not focused on trying to force all of his celebrity friends donate seven-figures immediately.
Not to say they aren?t already, though. George himself put up a million dollars, which he will likely announce during the telethon. Also, Leonardo DiCaprio was the first star to put up a million dollars for Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund, with the money being directed to ?near-term assistance and long-term recovery efforts.? Here?s more:
George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio are opening up their wallets to help victims in the earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
Clooney is donating $1 million to Friday’s “Hope for Haiti Now” celebrity telethon. He will officially make his donation during the telecast.
He told Entertainment Tonight that he’s been up “three days straight” trying to put together the broadcast, which will air on all four leading U.S. networks, dozens of cable channels and internationally on Internet websites. Brad Pitt and Robert Pattinson are among the participants; Beyonce and Madonna have been added as performers.
Meanwhile, DiCaprio also has donated $1 million.
His money will go to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund (CBHF) to support near-term assistance and long-term recovery efforts, his rep tells UsMagazine.com.
His donation, dispersed through the Leonardo DiCaprio Fund, which fosters awareness of environmental issues, will help with immediate relief efforts as well as with longer-term redevelopment and infrastructure projects, including a focus towards sustainable development.
“I am grateful for the generous gift Leonardo DiCaprio and his Foundation have made in support of our Clinton Bush Haiti Fund,” former President Clinton said. “Combined with the outpouring of donations from Americans and citizens around the world of all means, this support will go a long way to help save more lives, reach more people with emergency assistance, and help the Haitian people build their nation back stronger and more secure than it was before the earthquake.”
[From Us Weekly]
Beyonce will be performing from London (probably standing right next to Sparkles!), and Madge will perform in New York. Hopefully the divas will keep it to their hits and not try to push some ?new material? on us. My guess for Beyonce is ?Halo? and for Madge? ?Don?t Tell Me?. Wouldn?t that be awesome? I love that song. Ah? Madge. The other musical performers include: Bruce Springsteen, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake and Keith Urban.
Clooney also did an MTV interview that aired last night. He told the audience: ?It’s a big world out there, and we all have a lot of responsibility to look out for people who can’t look out for themselves. So what we can do is first and foremost, raise money. Period. That’s it …If I thought we could all pick up shovels and go in there and help without being in the way, I think a lot of people would do that.” I?ll be watching (and donating!).

As I mentioned during the post-Golden Globe analysis, I think George Clooney is totally over Elisabetta Canalis. While she definitely looks pretty on his arm, and while she fulfilled her duties as arm candy admirably, I thought I detected a detached, annoyed air around Clooney. Like, maybe his thoughts were on Haiti and the telethon, and maybe he wished, for the first time, he had a girlfriend who was interested in charity work and humanitarianism and anything beyond ?being George Clooney?s girlfriend? and ?acting/modeling?. But the reviews from their Globes appearance have much of the same bullsh-t? and now the Enquirer is reporting that Elisabetta is pushing hard for commitment. Not to get married, but to have George?s baby! Oh, God:
Sure, there’s a Haiti telethon to host first but then “Gorgeous” George Clooney’s ready to become a daddy!
During the holidays, gorgeous model Elisabetta Canalis told George that she wants to get pregnant. Friends of 48-year-old Clooney were shocked when he responded: “Sounds like a plan to me! When do we get started?”
“George has done a complete 180 on starting a family,” a close friend told The ENQUIRER. “He’s still not a huge fan of the institution of marriage, but Elisabetta has made him rethink having children and settling down. They’re both incredibly happy and I certainly could see them having a baby in the next year.”
The idea grew out of an offhand remark between the couple during the holidays.
“Elisabetta is crazy about George and wanted to make that clear to him,” said the source. “So when he asked what she wanted for Christmas, she said, ‘Your baby!’ She was dead serious. And while George was a little startled, it made him think about how ready he is to be a dad and what a perfect mother Elisabetta would be. And that’s when he told her to be careful what she wished for.”
George met 31-year-old Elisabetta in Italy last summer, and it wasn’t long before he had moved her into his 25-room Italian villa on Lake Como.
“At his Christmas bash, they were acting more in love than ever and let out huge smiles when anyone mentioned them having a future together,” the source said.
“George was quick to retell the story of Elisabetta’s Christmas wish for a baby - adding that if she is a really good girl, next Christmas Santa might bring her what she asks for.”
[From The National Enquirer]
Haha, I wish I could meet Clooney just once just so anytime he offered me anything (like, say, ?Would you like a soda??) I could scream, ?No, I want your baby!! BAY-BEH!? But the whole ?Santa is going to bring Elisabetta a baby? thing is pretty funny too. Who in the world really, honestly, truly believes that Clooney rolls with that kind of inanity? I realize that he?s not everyone?s favorite person, but George is not, and never will be, the kind of man who utters cheese-tastic lines like ?If you?re a really good girl, next Christmas Santa might bring you what you ask for.? Unless what his girlfriend is asking Santa for is kinky sex.

In lieu of the recent devastation in Haiti, George Clooney is the latest celebrity stepping forward to help.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the “Up in the Air” star plans to host a telethon on MTV next Friday to help raise money for the nation that was recently destroyed by a 7.0 earthquake.
Furthermore, Clooney is in the process of reaching out to his Hollywood friends to round up famous faces for the telethon which will air on MTV and its various networks.
In other news, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $1 million to Doctors Without Borders for the organization’s emergency medical operations in Haiti.

Always getting praised on his appearance, even George Clooney admits Robert Pattinson is good looking!
The “Up in the Air” star isn’t afraid to admit he’s glad that he doesn’t have to duel over movie roles with the king of “Twilight.”
“Thank God I don’t have to compete with Rob,” Clooney said. “He’s young and handsome and talented.”
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old said being English means not having to look good.
“I just wanted to make an American film, and I wanted to be relatively good in it,” he said. “I have never pushed to do anything. As soon as you start going to the gym every day and try to look like a movie star, you’re going down a worrisome track. Being an English guy you get a lot more breaks. You’re allowed to look a little worse. It’s that thing about English teeth. Although Canadian teeth are pretty bad as well!”
But with quick fame, it isn’t always easy to handle. “It worries me, because the whole Twilight thing keeps getting bigger and bigger, and now it’s so big that even my own ego can’t deal with it. A certain amount of success you can mentally deal with, but there’s a point where you think, ‘Jesus Christ, what is this? I’m not that great!’ “

Last night the New York Film Critics Awards were held, and George Clooney picked up the ?Best Actor? award for Up In The Air. These are one of the few awards ceremonies that are not televised on any cable or network broadcast, although PopEater found some footage of the event. Clooney was charming, so congratulations to him. He also cracks a joke about Mariah Carey?s drunken appearance at an awards ceremony last week: ?I am like Mariah Carey f—-d up right now.? Sigh. I hope he doesn?t win the Best Actor Oscar. I doubt he will. Team Jeff Bridges. Here?s some of the

Two tabloids have some juicy gossip about George Clooney and his Italian girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis. Well, maybe not so juicy, but George is likely going to be up for another Oscar this year, and he?s got to sell this relationship as ?The One?. Now, I think Elisabetta has a pretty decent chance of sticking around for a bit longer than the other girls. But, I do think she?s being sold (and selling herself) as ?The One? for other purposes. I?m just putting that out there, Clooney apologists.
Anyway, first up is the National Enquirer. They?re running a big story about how all of George?s friends and even his parents want him to settle down with Elisabetta:
George Clooney?s parents are urging George to wed his new girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis, say sources close to the star. Clooney swore he?d never marry again after his three-year-marriage to actress Talia Balsam collapsed in 1993 - but Elisabetta has made him reconsider, say his pals.
George, 48, and Elisabetta, 31, have been inseparable since meeting in Italy. Elisabetta has been staying in Clooney?s Lake Como villa, and the two have been traveling the globe together, spending time in London, New York, Rome, Mexico and Los Angeles.
George?s parents and friends have all given Elisabetta the thumbs up.
?They are the perfect match,? said a friend of the couple. ?They are both actors, and they both love sports. They love long motorcycle rides, and they love going out on George?s boat. They also like to share romantic dinners, good wine and lots of laughs. And George loves that Elisabetta, whose mother teaches Italian literature, and whose father is a doctor, likes to read and to talk politics.?
George?s mother Nina ?told George she would be delighted to have Elisabetta as a daughter-inlaw,? said a source. ?She and Nick would love George to get married again and give them grandchildren, and she hopes George will pop the question.?
[From The National Enquirer, print edition, January 18, 2010]
Yeah? I?m not sure if I believe George?s parents are all ?get married already.? I think they know their son, and they don?t judge him for not getting hitched. And really, would he be the best husband? Also, I love that Elisabetta ?reading books? and ?talking politics? impresses George. That?s what he gets for spending years dating interchangeable cocktail waitresses and escorts. Of course, Elisabetta isn?t that independent. She pretty much dropped everything in her life to run off with George and do whatever he needs her to do.
Meanwhile, Star Magazine is reporting that George is so ?crazy? about Elisabetta, ?he?ll do anything to make her happy.? What, perchance, would make Elisabetta happy? Access to all of Clooney?s accounts, maybe? Almost! Star says that George bought her an $8 million villa in Los Cabos, Mexico. He bought her the Mexico pad because ?she doesn?t like LA much, so he?s given her a home away from home in Mexico? He?s even added a guesthouse for her best friend who travels with her. George says, ?Whatever Elisabetta wants, she gets!?? Gah! I wonder if he put the villa in her name. If he did, that?s quite a? payment for services rendered.
By the way, have we talked about Clooney’s new beard? I kind of like it. It makes him look older, but I find it very sexy:

| Will George Clooney win the Best Actor Oscar? | Added 15 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Yesterday, the National Board of Review released their award winners. The NBR awards pretty much kick off the awards season, along with the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globe nominations, would should be announced in a few more weeks. The National Board of Review actually has a really interesting record picking winners and nominees - they?re chosen actors like Halle Berry (for Monster?s Ball), Slumdog Millionaire (for best picture) and Diablo Cody (for Juno?s screenplay), flying in the face of some conventional Oscar wisdom and some expensive campaigns. What I?m trying to say is - take the NBR awards seriously, but they don?t exactly mean these picks are the absolute winners.
The biggest ?shock? win of yesterday?s announcement was George Clooney?s joint win as Best Actor (Morgan Freeman was also named for Invictus) and George?s film, Up In The Air, was named as the Best Picture. Also, Anna Kendrick (the younger girl in the film) took best supporting actress. So, it seems Up In The Air is the film to beat. And Clooney might be the actor to beat?
The 2009 Oscar race is officially Up in the Air.
The George Clooney vehicle about love in the age of layoffs has become one of the Oscar front-runners after being named best picture by the National Board of Review on Thursday.
Clooney shared a win for best actor with Morgan Freeman, who won for his portrayal of Nelson Mandela in Invictus, directed by his longtime collaborator Clint Eastwood, who was named best director.
British newcomer Carey Mulligan was named best actress for playing a precocious teen in An Education, while The Messenger’s Woody Harrelson and Air’s Anna Kendrick were recognized for their supporting performances.
The cast of the forthcoming comedy, It’s Complicated, which includes Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, was named best ensemble.
The NBR, which was naming 10 of the year’s outstanding films long before the Oscars got into the act, also recognized, An Education, Inglourious Basterds, (500) Days of Summer, The Hurt Locker, A Serious Man, Invictus, Star Trek, The Messenger, Where the Wild Things Are, and Up, which was named best animated film.
The Oscars will air live on March 7 on ABC.
[From People]
Here?s the thing - a f-cking love to analyze what awards mean, and who has the best chances, and who got robbed and who benefited from the best campaign. Some people might find that kind of thing tedious, but Oscar predictions are like crack to me. I totally Lohan for critics? awards. So here?s my analysis of the NBR awards: I think Up In The Air is peeking early. Though the film is getting great reviews, and everyone says Clooney is wonderful in it, I have serious doubts the film will go the distance. First of all, it?s got really f-cked subject matter for this time period: it?s a film about people losing their jobs. And the ?hero? (Clooney) is the guy who does the laying off.
Now, I do think Clooney will likely end up with an Oscar nomination for the film. I just think his chance of winning it, as this point, isn?t that great. I think Morgan Freeman?s chance at both the nomination and the win for playing Nelson Mandela in Invictus is probably much better. And no one is even mentioning Colin Firth in A Single Man! Or Daniel Day-Lewis in Nine. So let?s not jump to any conclusions.

His new film “Up in the Air” has been named Best Picture by the National Board of Review and George Clooney could be smelling an Oscar.
In addition, the “Ocean’s Eleven” stud has tied Morgan Freeman for the Best Actor honor. Freeman plays Nelson Mandela in “Invictus.”
Shia Labeouf’s lady friend Carey Mulligan has been named Best Actress for her role in “An Education,” while Woody Harrelson and Anna Kendrick top the Supporting Actor/Actress categories respectively.
As for the Best Ensemble nod, the cast of “It’s Complicated,” including Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin nabbed the nod. The Oscars will hit ABC on March 7th.

| Angelina Jolie: I don't like being without Brad (update: fake interview?) | Added 15 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Wow? Angelina Jolie has given a rare interview where she?s not promoting a film or a cause. Now, this is from OK! Magazine, and they?re not as legitimate as say, People Magazine, but I do think this interview is for real. Meaning that someone on OK!?s staff spoke to Angelina herself (not one of the gerbils) either in person, on the phone, or via e-mail or something.
The interview is short, and it?s basically just Angelina defending herself and her relationship with Brad. My guess is this is another piece of Brangelina?s media strategy to combat the Ian Halperin crap, like posing for photos after having dinner with Elisabetta ?Eminem Tattoo? Canalis and George Clooney.
Trouble in Jolie-Pitt land? No chance, according to Angelina Jolie in an interview featured in the new issue of OK!, Angie says in Brad Pitt ? superdad to Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox ? she?s found ?the right person.?
What?s the best thing about Brad?
He is a wonderful person and a really great actor. He?s extremely down-to-earth, goofy and funny. People know very little about him, and when it comes to where his morals are, how he is with people, what he cares about and what he?s learned about, he is very aware.
How do you carve out quality time?
We just do it and work on it.
Ever wish you could be alone?
I met the right person and I don?t like being without him.
Is it easy to juggle being a mother and an A-list actor?
I am just a mom and that?s how I am going to be the rest of my life. That sounds so funny ? I mean [the phrase] ?A-list actor.?
What?s up next?
I help where I can. I raise my kids with a lot of love and make sure they grow into the individuals they were born to be.
[From OK! Magazine]
CB says she ?kind of feels bad for her. She is really over the top in her interviews about Brad and I think she genuinely is crazy about him. I bet they do fight, but all married people do.? I think one of the biggest conspiracies about Brad and Angelina is that she?s somehow in control of everything. I don?t buy that. I think she adores Brad and looks at him as the protective partner/father she?s always wanted, and he?s the one making a lot of their family decisions. And that pisses me off - because if Brad really has as much control as I think he has in their relationship, then he should be out there defending Angelina and their relationship much more. Instead, Brad is always quiet Mr. Perfect while Angelina gets all the criticism.
UPDATE: The GERBILS attack! No, it could very well be that OK! Magazine cut-and-pasted from previous interviews. Specifically this interview Angelina did last year when she was promoting Changeling. It sounded new to me, but I?ve been wrong about it before. My bad!
