Of course this new, extensive, exhaustive ?interview? with George Clooney has the reek of bullsh-t. Of course, that stench could be Elisabetta Canalis. Too much? Eh. Anyway, Clooney allegedly gave this interview to The Sun, and I?m pretty sure some of these quotes are from other interviews Clooney has given in the past few years. Either that of Clooney is just repeating himself endlessly, on a loop. Which isn?t the weirdest thought, honestly. I think Clooney has talking points that he goes to, which means that some of his interviews kind of sound the same. Other stars are like that too. Whatever. I did find some of the stuff interesting, though, and I do think some of it MIGHT be new. The full Sun piece is here, and here are the highlights:
On the circus aspect of celebrity: “It’s much easier for me to hang out with friends at a restaurant in Laglio or a lot of other small villages and towns without 50 photographers showing up in half an hour. My life over there takes me away from the circus aspects of being a celebrity and that’s a pleasant change for me.
On the ease of Italy: ?Unfortunately Laglio is turning into a bit of a tourist mecca now and so I have to be a little more careful whenever I’m there - either that, or I should just stand at the entrance to the village handing out tourist brochures. I don’t really worry about that though. Whenever I want, I can always stage a diversion and invite Brad and Angie and their 15 children to come over. Then I can sneak away to the other side of the lake by boat and do whatever I want.”
On his personal life faltering while he concentrated on his career: “I was working so hard on my film projects that for a time I basically didn’t even think very much about how my personal life was evolving. I didn’t care, in the sense that I didn’t have a family or children to look after and that I wasn’t involved in any long-term relationships.?
On buying a home in Laglio (another name for Lake Como): ?What changed my life in a very pleasant and unexpected way was buying the villa in Laglio. That was a pure investment decision - I thought maybe I would spend a few weeks vacationing there. But then I realised how beautiful life was in Italy and how it really helped calm me and not feel so pressured. I could also work very productively and bring my friends over to keep me company.”
On Darfur: “I’ve been honoured to be able to lend my celebrity to help wherever I can, especially on behalf of the United Nations. But in the case of Darfur it’s been the greatest failure of my life. With other people, we’ve been able to get a lot of attention focused on the terrible situation there and nothing has changed. It’s very frustrating.”
Learning politics from his old man: “My dad believed there’s a right way to live and a right way to run a government. So he has never shied away from speaking his mind on certain issues and being politically outspoken even if that cost him his job or made his life difficult. So I grew up appreciating the meaning of the notion of integrity and I owe that to my father.”
On not wanting to make blockbusters: “There was so much hype around my being Batman and then I nearly killed the franchise and my career along with it. I also didn’t want to do a lot of easy romantic comedies. I wanted to make films like Three Kings and Out Of Sight because those kinds of films are trying to push the envelope and have a chance to leave some kind of mark.”
Keeping work and pleasure separate: “You have to be willing to work hard to create your own sense of freedom and that’s where the real art of living comes in. I probably have as much fun as anyone but I’m extremely disciplined when it comes to dividing my time between work and play. I don’t even drink as much as I used to because I just can’t stand wasting the next day recovering from a hangover any more.”
On luck versus creativity: “I grew up around famous people. In the world I grew up in - Cincinnati, Ohio - my father was a big star as a TV news anchorman and my Aunt Rosemary was one of the most popular singers in America. But I learnt from how her career sank in the Sixties. I saw how little it has to do with you. It’s all about luck. The problem with famous people in general is that they actually think they’re geniuses. You get famous and you think, ‘Yes, of course I should be famous and I’ve earned it all’. You haven’t, though. You got lucky. I got lucky.”
On his future work plans: “I still feel I haven’t done my best work although I’ve at least put myself in the position where I can keep doing what I love and enjoy the process. That, for me, is what it’s all about. I’ve had a pretty good plan which I’ve been following for the last ten years or so in terms of becoming a director, developing my own projects and taking my work to the next level. I even have a bit of a personal life these days. I don’t want to make anyone sick, but things are going pretty well for me.”

Is it bullsh-tty or is it authentic? I don?t know. The last parts, about Darfur and about his future in the industry seem new. And I do think he probably said that bit about ?I even have a bit of a personal life these days. I don’t want to make anyone sick, but things are going pretty well for me? sometime in the last week. Because I think Elisabetta is still around, bless her heart. She?s putting in the time and effort, isn?t she? She must be just as kinky as him.
By the way, Rotten Tomatoes has The American at 59%. Not awesome, but not terrible. Roger Ebert liked it (review here), but I started to fall asleep just trying to read what the damn film was about, so my guess is that it?s very dark and slow and you?re supposed to think that it is intense, not boring.
Also: Clooney and Elisabetta were out in West Hollywood last night. I love this photo… Eli always knows where the camera is.

Ah, the Hot Men of The Emmys. Hot Guy Emmys? Hot Guy Awards: The Emmys Edition? Whatever you want to call it, there was a spectacular dearth of truly hot men at the Emmys. Sure, there were cute guys, and many very talented men. But panty-droppers and leg-crossing hotties? There were only a few. So let?s start it off with a classic, Mr. George Clooney. I thought he came across as a bit smug during his award presentation (for the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award), and his bronzing is reaching George Hamiliton proportions. But I still get hot for George sometimes. I mean, he knows how to wear the hell out of a tux, and you know he loves the kinkiest sh-t out there. Also - I can?t find any photos of Elisabetta Canalis anywhere, although most sources have her backstage at the Emmys. Clooney didn?t let her walk the red carpet and wouldn?t answer questions about her - which I think means she?s on the way out. So Clooney will be single soon, maybe.
Aaron Paul is adorable. Beautiful eyes. I would love to see more of him. And he won his first Emmy, bitches!

He?s been a prolific actor over the years, and earlier tonight (August 29) George Clooney received a great honor at the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards.
Joined backstage by girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis, the ?Ocean?s Eleven? star was presented with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his active involvement in helping out with numerous philanthropic projects.
Clooney rallied Hollywood around special needs like ending genocide in Darfur, Sudan, as well as the ?Help for Haiti? telethon and fundraisers for Hurricane Katrina and 9/11 victims.
Bob Hope?s daughter Linda Hope told press, "Like my father, George is a person who looks beyond himself to use his celebrity ... to make a difference in the world and to inspire others to do the same."

Over the past few months, whenever I get a rare look at George Clooney?s mug, I?ve been taken aback. At certain angles, in certain lights, he really, really looks like he had something done, right? But I can?t put my finger on it. He didn?t have his eyes done, thank God. There?s no cat-face happening there. He doesn?t look waxy and Botoxy and frozen, so that?s not it either. But still, something is different. I?m starting to wonder if he got something done to his jaw or his neck, maybe? Or is it his hair? Funky.
Anyway, yesterday was the big reveal of Elisabetta Canalis?s Vanity Fair interview. What I didn?t know yesterday was that her piece is for the cover! That?s right, bitches. A girl can get the cover of Vanity Fair just for boning Clooney. That is literally all she did to get the cover. She wasn?t promoting her part on Leverage (ha!), she wasn?t promoting her career as a ?model?. If Vanity Fair could have, they probably would have just interviewed her vagina. I can?t find any new, juicy quotes (ew), but I did find her cover! Sorry the image isn?t that hot, I?ll replace it if I find a better one:
It?s like she?s aiming for coquettish with the head tilt, but instead she just looks like she?s tucking in her Adam?s apple. Not good, Eli.
Anyway, now that Elisabetta has gushed, publicly and openly, many of us think that this cokewhore is on her way out. LaineyGossip suggests that Eli is laying low, waiting for the cocaine and hooker scandal to blow over, but that laying low might lead to some reports that Clooney dumped her. So here?s the question: WHEN (not if) Clooney dumps her, how will it be done? A quick confirmation to People Mag by his publicist? Or will he just start showing up to events by himself? Or perhaps Eli will be the one who gets to announce it, because Clooney is such a gentleman, right? Ha.

Kicking off another work week, George Clooney was looking studly in a suit while in Milan, Italy on Monday (August 2).
The "Up In the Air" stud greeted on-set workers before delving into a shoot for a brand new Nespresso commercial.
The sighting comes as George is dealing with a PR headache thanks to girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis - who was implicated in a cocaine club scandal in Milan.
Claiming to have seen Miss Canalis use the drug at the now-closed Italy hotspot, French escort Karima Menad said, "I used cocaine along with other people, among whom was Elisabetta Canalis."

He?s always been a big fan of helping out the less fortunate, and George Clooney is set to be honored for his efforts at the Emmy Awards next month.
The ?Ocean?s Eleven? actor will be given the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his ?Hope for Haiti? telethon at the upcoming awards show on August 29th.
Academy of Television Arts and Sciences chairman John Shaffner told press George was ?an obvious choice? for the trophy due to his use of television to gather interest and support for the charity.
Clooney is also responsible for helping raise awareness about the tragedies in Darfur as well as the disaster of Hurricane Katrina.

Putting the finishing touches on his new movie, George Clooney was back on the set of "The American" in Sulmona, Italy on Tuesday (June 22).
Flanked by police and security personnel, the hunky actor headed to a local cafe as he began re-shooting scenes for the upcoming thriller flick.
In the film, Mr Clooney is playing a character named Jack, who is described as "a professional killer attempting to escape his trade after one last assignment to the Italian countryside."
Directed by Anton Corbijn, "The American" is slated to make its way into theaters on September 1, 2010.

Looking to add another property to his real estate holdings, it is being reported that George Clooney has been seeking a new pad in Hawaii.
The ?Up in the Air? stud has been filming scenes for ?The Descedants? in the Aloha State and has fallen in love with the beautiful locale.
According to a local realtor, Mr Clooney and girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis, have been quietly checking out ocean-front property in some of Hawaii?s most exclusive spots.
"He's looking in a few areas, including Kahala and Hawaii Kai," says the agent.

After rumors soared that the 48 year-old and his Italian beauty Elisabetta Canalis called it quits, Clooney couldn?t keep quiet.
?Once again the story is made up, spread to other outlets and now denied," Clooney, said in a statement released after the reports covered Internet. Adding he said, "But don't let facts get in the way of a good story." The couple has been together for nine months and was first seen together last summer, with their first appearance at September?s Venice Film Festival.
Meanwhile, 31 year-old Elisabetta will appear on five episodes of TNT?s "Leverage" playing a mysterious woman known as ?the Italian.?

He?s been plugging away on the set of ?The Descendants? as of late, and George Clooney was spotted doing his thing in Hawaii over the past week.
In a recent interview with British Airways High Life magazine, Mr Clooney opened up about when he first visited Los Angeles many, many years ago.
The ?Up in the Air? actor told, ?On my very first day in LA, my cousin Miguel took me for a drive up Sunset Boulevard.?
He continued, ?All these girls came up asking if we wanted to party. I said, ?Girls love me, man!? Miguel just replied, ?They?re hookers, you idiot.??
