This is a surprise! At least to me. I heard something about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt doing a Q&A for By the Sea in NYC, but I didn?t realize there would be photos from outside the event/screening. So here you go ? the Brangelunacy is upon us! So many new Jolie-Pitt photos! Huzzah!
I cannot find the ID on Angelina?s dress. Everyone is describing it as ?vintage style,? but could it possibly be real vintage? Anyway, it?s got that baggy, slightly sacky vibe that I know she likes and it?s got a ?70s vibe too, which fits with the movie. I?m surprised to see her in a real color! She does black and neutrals too often. I enjoy her hair this dark, but my one complaint is that she looks pretty tired. She and Brad need to take a good nap together.
As for Brad? I?m still grateful that he?s in a relatively clean-shaven phase these days. I honestly don?t mind Brad?s scarves, because unlike Johnny ?Scarfy? Depp, Brad?s scarves are not attached to five necklaces, ten rings, a rat-chewed hat, metal chains on his pants and an emergency scarf in the back pants pocket. Brad?s occasional scarves seem more like ?he?s being dressed personally by Tom Ford.?

Has Brad Pitt given any major interviews since he married Angelina Jolie last year? I don?t really remember him sitting down with a magazine or doing some in-depth 60 Minutes piece at all. So? I?m prepared to say that Brad probably gave a mega-exclusive to the as-yet-unreleased new issue of V Magazine. Is it a cover story? Apparently, at least according to Entertainment Tonight ? you can see some screenshots here. All we really know is that the piece will be released mid-November and that Brad is talking about what it?s like being directed by his lover/wife/mother of his children.
More than a year after saying “I do,” Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still crazy about each other. The Oscar-winning actor opens up to V Magazine about working under the direction of his Oscar-winning wife on the romance drama By the Sea, opening Nov. 13.
“It’s surprising how much I enjoy the direction of my wife,” he tells V. “She’s decisive, incredibly intuitive, and might I say sexy at her post. I trust her with my life.”
The couple play spouses in the movie with Angelina taking the role of Vanessa, a former dancer in mid-1970s France, who travels the country with her husband Roland, an American writer, played by Brad. In real life, the couple spends a good amount of time at home raising their six children, and Brad gave one more reason for what makes him a hot dad.
“At the end of the day, we get to be parents, greeting our lovely, crazy children and talking about their day, making sure they brush their teeth,” Brad says.

Everyone always believes that Angelina is a vamp, a man-eater, a dominant. Is she really like that though? Is Brad happy enough to let Angelina take charge EVERYWHERE?

God, I just realized that we?re coming up on the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Time flies. Because the tenth anniversary is coming up so quickly (within days), Brad Pitt sat down for an exclusive interview with the New Orleans Times-Picayune/Nola.com. Pitt started Make It Right NOLA a few years after half of New Orleans was decimated by both Katrina and bureaucratic catastrophe and now, seven years later, Pitt?s MIR NOLA has built 109 homes in the Lower Ninth Ward. These homes are designed by architects like Shigeru Ban, Thom Mayne, Frank Gehry, they are all eco-friendly and they all have solar panels. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
Pitt on working with world-famous architects: “Listen, we were very fortunate that they would come in, but they felt the need as well. Actually, this is the definition of architecture: It is solving problems through design. And, again, we’re not talking about aesthetics; we’re talking about function, and that is the holy grail of architecture.?
The Lower 9th: “I think it first became a 21st-century disaster attraction, unfortunately. This became the icon of the place that was hit the hardest and suffered the most, certainly in one condensed area. It certainly seemed to illustrate man’s failure in this particular area. The message (of Make It Right) was to take this spot that was emblematic of such human failure and to make it a human success story on how we can build in the future, how we can build for families, how we can build with quality, and how we can build with the community under their guidelines.”
Early mistakes: ?We went into it incredibly nave, just thinking we can build homes — how hard is that? — and not understanding forgivable loan structures and family financial counseling and getting the rights to lots and HUD grants and so on and so forth. So it’s been a big learning curve.”
Interesting details about the money: According to figures provided by Make It Right, Pitt’s visionary recovery neighborhood has cost $26.8 million. The houses have been sold at a loss, as was always part of the plan, for an average of roughly $150,000 each, with financial assistance to make the mortgages affordable. In exact terms, Make It Right reports that it has provided $5.2 million in supplementary loans that needn’t be repaid and another half-million to cover up-front mortgage costs (closing costs). The cash to fuel the project has come mainly from donations and federal grants. In the first year of the project, $12.3 million came in. In 2011, when the banking crisis deadened the economy, donations dropped to one-sixth that much. Last year, the figure was back up to roughly $6 million, a respectable amount considering that time has naturally dimmed the public’s interest in New Orleans’ ongoing recovery.
Filming in NOLA: “We bring a lot of films down there, our production company. New Orleans is such a great place to shoot and the rebates are phenomenal, so it’s not a big fight with the studios. They’re more than happy for us to get back down there. It’s a very rich place to shoot. It’s my excuse to get back there.”
He?s not going to be in NOLA for the 10-year anniversary: “We’re doing a satirical piece on war, a satirical piece on the decisions that bring about war. That’s the best I can do at the moment.?

It?s an interesting piece because Pitt addresses some of the criticisms lodged at MIR NOLA directly, like the idea of building affordable, sustainable, environmentally sound homes on a budget is a total pipe dream? which the figures sort of prove. But Pitt?s defense is interesting, because he basically says that MIR NOLA wasn?t just about the immediate need for quality lower-income housing in the 9th Ward, it was about figuring out the prototypes that would function all over the country, that MIR NOLA was always meant to be a larger experiment. While I think that?s fine to have larger goals and an eye on the bigger picture for the future of low-income sustainable housing, I also sort of believe that there was some false advertising in how Pitt originally began MIR NOLA. People gave money because they believed Pitt was working towards making homes for New Orleans families only to see the mission statement change mid-stream. Still? it?s an interesting project and I do admire the fact that he stuck with it.

How old is ?too old to wear a sheer t-shirt?? That?s my question. Brad is 51 years old and he loves this style of very, very thin t-shirts. At this point, it?s not about the camera flash making the shirts look more transparent. Brad just likes to show off his body. For comparison: George Clooney is 54, Tom Cruise is 53 and Johnny Depp is 52. I would be really grossed out if any of them attempted this look. But on Brad? I don?t know, I guess I?ve grown to accept it. Brad likes a breeze to graze his man-nips. Brad likes to air it out. Can you even imagine what Clooney would look like if he wandered around LA in a sheer t-shirt?
If you can tear your eyes away from Brad?s keeping-it-tight body, you might notice that he looks somewhat cleaned up in these photos. He had been growing out his goatee and keeping his hair a bit longer, but he recently got a haircut and a shave. I don?t know why, or if it?s for a movie or something. He?s in LAX in these photos and he?s already arrived in London. IMDB says that his next project is probably going to be War Machine, for Netflix. That?s the film that?s loosely based on General Stanley McChrystal?s work (and career demise) in Afghanistan. Angelina is also going to be heading to Cambodia at some point, so I tend to believe the whole family will probably be spending several months in Cambodia later this year or next year.
Brad and Angelina?s By the Sea comes out in November. I?m looking forward to the press around the film, but not the film itself. We?ll see.

I was sitting here, trying to figure out why Brad Pitt looks so hot in these photos. What is it? I think it?s because he?s actually wearing clothes that fit his still-lean frame, which means he doesn?t look like he?s dressed in Hobo Chic (which has been his style for too long). The all-black looks good on him. And what else? Is it the grey beard? Y?all know I enjoy some facial hair, so that might be what makes Brad so sexy in these photos. That beard looks nice on him. Mm. I could do without the hat though.
These pics are of Brad arriving at LAX to take a flight to France. It feels like we haven?t even seen Brad in months and months, but that?s mostly because Brad and Angelina were nowhere to be seen during the awards season. Which, incidentally, was one of the most boring awards seasons in recent memory. I?m not saying that Brangelina have to put in appearances to make it interesting, but if we don?t get Brangelina, you better give us Julia Roberts, George Clooney and some other major A-listers.
So, what?s Brad up to these days? It?s still believed that Brad will be playing the lead in Africa, the Angelina Jolie-directed bio-pic of Richard Leakey. Before then, Brad will likely start production on The Big Short, with Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale and Steve Carrel. Apparently, that?s supposed to start this month in New Orleans. The premise of the film is very interesting ? it?s about the handful of people who successfully predicted the market crash of 2008 and ended up shorting the market for a major profit. Brad has also signed on to a ?romantic thriller? set during World War II, which will be directed by Robert Zemeckis. God knows when that will start.

Here are some photos from Friday?s AFI luncheon celebrating the top 11 films of the year. One of the top AFI films? Unbroken! Another top AFI film? Selma! So Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie came out for the event, which was nice. That was a really fast trip they made to Rome and Vatican City, wasn?t it? When Angelina was asked about meeting Pope Francis earlier in the week, she told Deadline it was ?very cool.? Come on, Angie! Tell us more! Oh, and Angelina?s suit is YSL (or Saint Laurent, as I think we?re supposed to call it now).
Interesting enough, in some random European publication, Angelina actually confirmed an old rumor that I had completely forgotten about. Brad and Angelina did their French wedding at the end of August, but there was some rumor that they had actually done a small civil service in LA beforehand. Angelina confirmed that.
That was one well-kept secret! Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were officially husband and wife long before they tied the knot last summer, she recently revealed to Italian magazine Io Donna.
“Before the wedding in France with the kids, Brad and I were already married in California,” Jolie, 39, revealed to the mag, which accompanies the Saturday, Jan. 10 edition of the Corriere della Sera. “As Americans, we couldn’t marry legally in France.”
The Unbroken director — who was in Italy on Thursday to meet the Pope at the Vatican — explained how the no-fuss nuptials went down.
“One day I said to Brad, ‘Let’s meet up at 4:30 pm?’” she told Io Donna. “I called a justice of the peace and we signed the documents.” (As reported by Us Weekly, the couple obtained a marriage license from a California judge prior to exchanging vows at Chateau Miraval last August. The same judge also conducted their nondenominational civil ceremony.)
Before the couple of 10 years publicly confirmed their wedding news, a source told Us last March that Jolie claimed she was already married. “Every time I ask, she says she is already married,” the insider said to Us at the time. Still, the pair wanted to hold a formal ceremony for the sake of their six kids — Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, Zahara, 10, Shiloh, 8, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 6.
“It was very much a family affair,” their rep later told Us about the wedding, which included designated roles for each Jolie-Pitt kid. (Eldest sons Maddox and Pax walked their mom down the aisle, Shiloh and Knox were ring bearers, and Zahara and Vivienne “threw petals from the garden.”)
As for life as a wife? Jolie told Us Weekly last month: “It’s been an amazing year. I married my love. My son [Maddox] became a teenager. And, I got to bring [Unbroken] to the world.”

I hope she at least carried a bouquet of flowers to her civil service. What did she wear? It was either a pansuit or a sack dress, I’m sure. We don?t get any more detail than that?
Oh, and looking through the photos of the AFI event? Brad and Angelina were very popular. They were mingling with everybody. Angelina got to spend some time with her good friend Clint Eastwood and Oprah wanted some photos with Brangelina too.

Here are some photos from last night?s LA premiere of Unbroken. No Angelina Jolie, obviously. She has chicken pox, so she was probably at home, fighting the urge to scratch and maybe eating some soup with Vivienne, Knox and Zahara. Do you think Zahara makes soup for her mom when La Jolie is feeling itchy? I do. So last night, in Angelina?s place, Brad Pitt walked the carpet with Maddox, Pax and Shiloh. They all wore suits and looked very snazzy. Brad?s parents were there too ? apparently, they were already coming in for the premiere (and perhaps to stay through Christmas?) and they just decided to attend the premiere in Angelina?s place.
As for how Angelina is doing, Brad told E! News, ?Her spirits are high. A little spotted and a little itchy, but her spirits are high.” God, I hope so. I hope she rallies. I hope she manages to make all of the h8rs crazy with how much she wins at life.
I?m also including some photos of the Unbroken stars at the premiere, including Jack O?Connell, Garrett Hedlund, Jai Courtney and Miyavi. Miyavi?s style is amazing! And Garrett brought his girlfriend Kirsten Dunst, who looks great in that Vivienne Westwood dress.

This is your final reminder before the weekend officially begins: Fury opens today in theaters. And Brad Pitt?s still hustling for it. I saw some box office predictions and most people think Fury will win the box office this weekend (finally dethroning Gone Girl, perhaps) but that it?s not going to be a major hit like World War Z.
In most of Brad?s interviews, he?s been offering up little morsels about his new marriage and all of that. Brad has started playing it more like Angelina ? he doesn?t complain when people ask him personal questions, but he usually only offers one sentence. When he spoke to USA Today at the DC premiere, he was asked about his non-existent honeymoon, considering he and Angelina flew to Malta to begin filming on By the Sea just a few days after their wedding. Brad said: ?Our dysfunctional honeymoon. Yeah, it was our choice. It’s been fun. It’s been challenging but really fun.” When asked about his wife as a director, Brad said: ?She’s good. She knows what she’s doing.”
Then Brad and the cast sat down with Good Morning America for a pre-taped interview in which Brad got most of the questions. Shia Labeouf is still trying so hard to impress Brad! It?s sort of cute. When asked about the wedding, Brad said: ?It was an amazing day and I think there’s an added security that comes with it.? Security? After ten years and six kids? That?s a little bit strange to me. But maybe Brad still thinks Angelina might pull a runner. Brad was also asked about his previous stance of not marrying until there was marriage equality in America. He side-stepped the question and just said: “That’s just a no-brainer to me. That’s the basis of our country. Equality for everyone.” I personally think that Brad and Angelina DID wait until there was marriage equality in half the states.

Brad Pitt did an absolutely gorgeous photo shoot for Details Magazine for the November issue, to promote Fury (out this Friday). The photos are by Mark Seliger ? you can see the full slideshow here. In some of the photos, Brad is giving me strong Garrett Hedlund vibes. I wonder if that?s why Angelina cast Hedlund in Unbroken? It?s Brad Pitt in nature, talking to trees and thinking in poetry. Brad Pitt on a motorcycle. Brad Pitt staring into the distance pensively. Deep thoughts by Brad Pitt. Details hasn?t released the full interview, but they did include some quotes in the slideshow:
On fatherhood: “I’ve discovered I don’t suck at being a dad.”

Brad Pitt and the boys of Fury have really started making the promotional rounds in earnest. Shia Labeouf has been making TV appearances, trying to get his arrest out of the way so he can talk about Fury. Brad doesn?t have that problem ? Brad is the elder statesman of this particular war film, so it seems like all of the younger guys are going to spend a lot of time talking about how cool Brad is. Shia?s already started ? he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and he told a story about fighting with Brad on the set and how much he loves Brad:
I kind of like Shia when he?s fan-girling Brad. I?ll admit that!
As for Brad, he gave an interview to Radio Times where he discussed his familiarity with weapons. Apparently, Brad inherited his grandfather?s gun when he was only a kid.
He’s set to star in Second World War movie, Fury, in which he stars as the commander of a Sherman tank crew – and Brad Pitt reveals he’s always had a respect for weaponry. The 50-year-old told Radio Times magazine in a recent interview that he’s grown up with guns.
‘There’s a rite of passage where I grew up inheriting your ancestors’ weapons,’ he told the publication. ‘My brother got my dad’s. I got my grandfather’s shotgun when I was in kindergarten.’
In fact, so much so was the tradition, that Pitt owned his first air gun when he was in nursery, received his shotgun when he was six and had fired a handgun by the time he was eight. He told the magazine: ‘The positive is that my father instilled in me a profound and deep respect for the weapon.’
Brad remarked that he brought his family to the set of his latest movie, which was shot over 12 weeks in the fields of Oxfordshire and at Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire. He told the magazine: ‘Maddox knows so much about tanks that when we first started on the movie, I was asking him for information.’

Eh, I grew up in the South and I went to school with a lot of boys like this, boys who went out hunting with their daddies from a very young age. There is a ?gun culture? in rural areas, not just in the South and Midwest, but all over America. I tend to believe the majority of gun owners are like Brad describes ? weapons are passed down from generations, and there?s a focus on responsible gun ownership from a young age. Of course, there are notable and horrible exceptions to that.
