Brad Pitt is still promoting Ad Astra, which is to say he?s still promoting his Oscar campaign for both Ad Astra and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It?s been years since Brad Pitt did this kind of promotional tour and interview schedule, but remember, he?s not going to campaign for an Oscar. Hahaha. I?m not sure if Ad Astra?s box office helps or hurts Brad?s Oscar chances Ad Astra made about $19 million domestically in its opening weekend, but internationally, the film is performing well. Which just shows that Brad is still pretty popular overseas. Anyway, Brad chatted with NPR for his Ad Astra promo and he ended up getting some direct questions about his divorce from Angelina Jolie. He tried to be as vague as possible, but the quotes still made headlines:
On men processing trauma: ?Well, its just that. I dont know that weve been taught to deal with those painful events very well. In fact, were better at burying them ? at least certainly speaking for myself. You know, its this Marlboro Man image of: Dont show weakness. But then we were questioning: In doing that, are we actually denying our own feelings? Denying a part of ourselves ? a vulnerability, in this guise of Superman ? to really be open for our loved ones, for our sons and daughters, in the sense that were all flawed; most of us are doing the best we can. And is there a peace of mind that comes from embracing ones foibles and humiliations as well as our successes?
Whether his divorce has influenced his performance: ?I would be exploring it whether there was a script that allowed that or not. A breakup of a family is certainly an eye-opener that as one ? and Im speaking in general again ? but as one needs to understand, I had to understand my own culpability in that, and what can I do better. Because I dont want to go on like this.
Embracing a healthier type of masculinity from a young age: ?I dont know how to answer that, but it is the question. We seem to be a culture where we will impugn someone for their missteps, but we dont value what is the next move. And the next move, to me, really defines the character of the individual ? to redirect, recalibrate. I see that going on certainly in the workplace, certainly in Hollywood; male and female interactions that needed to be recalibrated [are] being recalibrated in a positive way. Questions of equality certainly still, still need to be recalibrated.
[From NPR]
Having covered so many of Brad?s interviews over the past few months, I?ve really begun to feel like he actually IS addressing his divorce and what happened on the plane, he?s just doing it obliquely in interview after interview about ?toxic masculinity? and having to learn how to be open and vulnerable. I?m left with the impression that Brad is basically saying that whatever happened on the plane and whatever led up to that moment was all about how he thought he was a big tough guy who could, like, yell and scream at his wife and then do *something* to Maddox? I don?t know. ?A breakup of a family is certainly an eye-opener that as one ? and Im speaking in general again ? but as one needs to understand, I had to understand my own culpability in that, and what can I do better?? I get that he?s talking about culpability and responsibility? but it also feels like he?s both-sides-ing everything still?

I continue to find it bizarre that Brad Pitt not only attended one of Kanye West?s Sunday Services, but that Brad continues to talk about it like it was a very pleasant experience. I mean? in my opinion, Kanye?s Sunday Service thing is just some bullst he?s making up on the fly, and it will eventually turn into an album and some other cross-promotional sh-t. Does Kanye believe in his sermons? Sure. But also: Kanye is a mentally ill megalomaniac and a Trump supporter. Can we not encourage him? Brad previously said that Kanye is ?doing something really special? with the Sunday Services. And now Brad has this to say:
Brad Pitt is opening up about his surprising friendship with Kanye West. The actor, 55, spoke to Extra about West, 42, while at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film Ad Astra.
?[We kept] just running [into each other] through the years,? Pitt said of how he came to meet West. ?I love that there?s a Kanye out in the world, like, messing things up, you know??
He continued, ?Envisioning the future and, you know, we can?t forget his music. He was one of the first to come out and be raw and open ? he should always get credit for that.?
Pitt has also paid a visit to West?s Sunday Services, which he said is ?really beautiful.?
?I think what he?s doing is pretty special,? Pitt said. ?It?s this real celebratory thing of people and it?s a really loving vibe and it?s beautiful ? it?s huge, so beautiful. I find it really special.?
[From People]
*deep sigh* Okay. You know what? I?m not even going to unpack Brad?s thoughts on Kanye. What I will unpack is? why is Brad doing this? Why is Brad hanging out with Kardashians? Why is this suddenly a thing and why is Brad still talking about it? Is this a genuine interest on Brad?s part or is he suddenly trying to be ?cool??
Here?s more of Brad?s media oversaturation this week:

In the middle of the promotion for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the Hollywood Reporter did a curious and controversial article wherein they argued that Leo DiCaprio is the ?only global superstar left.? There was a lively discussion about whether that was true, and the comparison was made to Brad Pitt, who is obviously Leo?s costar in OUATIH. I argued that while Leo makes ?bigger? movies, Brad has the more enviable career, because he diversified became a top-notch producer and he produces some of the best Oscar-bait films out there, in addition to being an in-demand actor. There is no right answer to this riddle of ?who is the last global movie star,? but I would say that there still are some other global stars left and it?s not just Leo.
In any case, that whole discussion got people thinking about careers and the evolution of stars and all that. While I applaud Brad?s producing abilities, he honestly hasn?t had the best ?picker? for his starring vehicles in the past ten years or so. Allied bombed critically and financially, and I would be willing to bet that Ad Astra will be the same kind of thing. It?s also worth noting that Brad doesn?t DO kids? films. He?s always done drama or action or art films. So? this doesn?t make much sense, really:
Brad Pitt says he only accepts roles his children will be proud of him for ? because he is ?painfully aware? they will watch his films. The Hollywood star, 55, has six children with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie: Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
He told Red Bulletin: ?Now that I?m a dad, I?m clearer about the work I want to do. I?m now painfully aware that my kids are going to be seeing my movies as they grow up. I think of how movies affected me when I was a kid, the ones that told me something, honed me a little bit, left that indelible mark. It?s important to me that I leave something they?ll be proud of.?
Pitt, who found fame at 21 with a supporting role in 1991 film Thelma And Louise, said: ?I feel like we won the lottery. There are many talented people out there, but the trick is: Once you get in the door you have to stand in the roomThere is a shelf life to what we do, and we?re aware of that. It makes us more appreciative of the time we?ve had. As long as you find meaning in what you do, it?ll transition into something else.?
[From The Evening Standard]
I guess he?s saying that he wants to make movies that stand the test of time, that his kids can find and enjoy when they?re older. Which? I mean, every actor wants to make movies that stand the test of time. Every actor wants to make The Godfather or To Kill a Mockingbird. Very few actors actually manage it. And what films will his kids see? Ad Astra? OUATIH? LOL. Probably not. I could see the kids growing up to enjoy Spy Game or A River Runs Through It or?? I don?t know. Mostly, Brad just wanted to remind everyone that he has kids and he thinks about them sometimes! I bet the Jolie-Pitt kids will enjoy the heck out of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil though. *nail emoji*

I?m sorry that I totally blanked on these photos yesterday. I should have covered them when they were fresh! Brad Pitt attended the Mexican premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood this week, with no Leo DiCaprio or Margot Robbie in tow. That kind of proves what I?ve been saying: Leo and Margot enjoy each other?s company and are quite friendly, but they kind of think Brad is uncool? Leo and Margot had to do some extra promotion in Europe last week without Brad, and now Brad has to do some extra promo in North America without them. Everybody?s got a clique! And who is in Brad?s clique? I don?t know.
Anyway, people were talking about these photos because of Brad?s weird color choices. The thing is, Brad has looked flat-out GREAT during the promotion he looks ?good for his age,? but not like he?s trying to look 25. He looked fresh without looking worked on. Thin, but not too thin. Fit but not too fit. This ensemble in Mexico sort of ruins his style story for the OUATIH promotion though. The suit would have been fine? with a white shirt, better shoes and no hat. The fedora kills me? is Brad really trying to make fedoras happen??? But the worst part is that Brad is wearing really obvious (hilariously obvious) lifts. I?ve heard that Brad really isn?t the tallest guy, but the lifts are totally unnecessary.
People continue to talk about how Brad will likely get an Oscar nomination for OUATIH. I?m sort of fine if he does? It would be for Best Supporting Actor, and he would definitely be one of the ?guys to beat,? even though awards season hasn?t even started. It?s worth noting (AGAIN!) that next year?s awards season is going to be so stupid and compact the Oscars are three weeks earlier than usual. My point is that the films being released around Christmas won?t have time to really launch a huge awards season push, so I could totally see how a film released this summer would end up winning big Oscars.

| People: Brad Pitt 'really found his happiness again' & he's a 'hands-on dad' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I complimented Brad Pitt several times during the press tour for Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. Brad legitimately looks great these days his hair is a good length and perfectly highlighted (so it doesn?t look highlighted), he doesn?t look puffy nor too thin, and his clothes were great too. But for Brad, it?s not enough to get back to the people?s heartthrob. He wants to be seen as ?doing well? and ?healthy? and ?probably going to get an Oscar nominaton.? Which, fair enough. But we?ve been hearing that ?Brad Pitt is doing really well!? for the past three years, basically. How many People Mag stories do we really need with the same update of ?he?s doing great!? It?s obvious that he had some difficult moments, and those moments were largely self-inflicted. So what?s the point? I guess to just rebrand Brad Pitt as Brad Pitt Is Totally Fine Now, Just In Time For An Oscar Nomination. Here?s the latest:
He?s healthier now: Since his 2016 split from Angelina Jolie, the actor, 55, has ?worked very hard on himself to be a better, healthier person and to be the best dad possible,? a source tells PEOPLE in this week?s issue. ?These were always his priorities. That his career is going well is a happy bonus that he is thrilled about.?
He takes his workouts seriously: The Oscar winner?s positive lifestyle changes also included focusing on his diet and workout regimen ? and the results are on full display in a shirtless Once Upon a Time scene reminiscent of his star-making six-pack moment in 1991?s Thelma & Louise. He ?really takes his workouts seriously,? the source says. ?It?s been a whole lifestyle change. And he looks amazing.?
He?s a hands-on dad? On the family front, the father of six recently helped celebrate Shiloh?s 13th birthday, and his oldest son Maddox, 18, will soon head to college in South Korea to study biochemistry. ?Despite having help, Brad is a hands-on dad,? an industry insider says. ?He comes from a close family, and he has continued to be a parent who is interested in the lives of his children.?
He?s found his happiness again: Between his latest movie?s box office success and Pitt?s personal strides, he?s ?really found his happiness again,? the first source says. ?He is back and very excited about life. And it?s well-deserved.?
[From People]
?And it?s well-deserved.? Is it? Who amongst us ?deserves? to be happy and successful? There are tons of people who work hard and spend time with their families and are grateful for their success and their health and all of that, but saying that Brad ?deserves? to be where he is now just? rubs me the wrong way. I don?t know. As for the rest of it? it feels like this unnamed source is playing a little fast and loose with just how much Brad is involved with his kids. They name-check Maddox, but Maddox and Pax still don?t want to have anything to do with him. And what is this: ?Despite having help?? Is that a reference to Angelina being the help? LMAO. Or does Brad employ a full-time nanny for the odd weekend when he does have visitation with the younger kids?

Brad Pitt looks really good these days, no lie. His hair no longer looks like a wiglet and his movie, Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, is an R-rated success. Honestly, I?ve heard better things about Leonardo DiCaprio?s performance rather than Brad?s, but sure, I?ve also heard that there?s ?Oscar buzz? about Brad. So it didn?t come as a shock when I saw this People Magazine headline: ?Brad Pitts Major Moment: Oscar Buzz for His New Tarantino Film and a Sci-Fi Epic on the Horizon.? Subheadline: ?The actor hasnt appeared in a film since 2017s Netflix drama War Machine, and this year has two Oscar contenders in the mix.? Allied came out in 2016, for those wondering, but he did have a cameo in 2018?s Deadpool 2. So, it?s true that War Machine was his last starring role before OUATIH. As for this People article, it?s just a blah kind of puff piece:
It?s a good time to be Brad Pitt. The actor, 55, is earning raves for his performance as Cliff Booth, a fictional stuntman at the heart of Quentin Tarantino?s Once Upon a Time? in Hollywood ? as well as attention for his buff physique, which is on full display in the film (yes, there?s a shirtless scene). This marks Pitt?s second collaboration with Tarantino following 2009?s Inglourious Basterds, which also brought the pair acclaim.
Once Upon a Time? in Hollywood comes at a crucial professional time for Pitt. The actor hasn?t appeared in a film since 2017?s Netflix drama War Machine, and this year has two Oscar contenders in the mix: Hollywood and the space epic Ad Astra, which world premieres at the Venice Film Festival before opening Sept. 20. Films that have made their debuts at the event include Oscar winners La La Land and Birdman.
Pitt launched his Hollywood campaign in May at the splashy Cannes Film Festival premiere of the film, where he posed happily alongside his costars, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie.
?He was very happy to be there,? a source told PEOPLE at the time. [He was] absolutely relaxed and smiling like I haven?t seen him for some time.?
Academy voters are so excited to see the film, many were turned away at a recent membership screening in Los Angeles, according to reports. Adding to the buzz surrounding the box office hit, the Internet has gone wild for the bromance between Pitt and DiCaprio, both of whom have never acted in a movie together. While out promoting the film, DiCaprio said he?s eager to re-team with Pitt in the future, while Pitt joked the two will next be working on a Christmas album.
[From People]
It sounds like it was written by Brad?s publicist, and that may have even been the case. And is anyone seriously ?wild? for Leo and Brad?s ?bromance??? They really don?t seem all that close during the promotion. It almost feels like Leo and Margot Robbie think? Brad is sort of uncool. As for the Oscar buzz, it definitely feels like that buzz is being willed into existence by Brad?s people and studio publicists. I wonder if Leo?s people are going to aim for some ?Oscar buzz? for their guy too? Personally, I?ve never really thought that Brad cared that much about getting an acting Oscar he?s had multiple films up for Best Picture Oscars, films he?s starred in and/or produced, and some of those films have won (12 Years a Slave, Moonlight) and that?s a bigger deal in the Hollywood landscape. But I guess every actor wants their own little gold man. And considering how screwed up next year?s Oscar season is going to be, maybe they will give Oscars to films which came out in the summer.

| Brad Pitt compares the end-of-era Manson murders to the Weinstein situation | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

If you?ve seen Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, nothing in this post will be a spoiler. If you haven?t seen the film, I?ll be as cryptic as possible: Quentin Tarantino purposefully leaves the audience unsure about whether Brad Pitt?s character?s relationships with women. The ambiguity is probably Tarantino?s way of showing the ?not every predator is all-bad, and not every good guy does the right thing? argument. Which is interesting given? well, Brad Pitt?s own life these days, and why Angelina Jolie ghosted him and filed for divorce and all that. It?s also interesting given the additional context of Tarantino?s long-time creative partnership with Harvey Weinstein, a serial predator, abuser, rapist and sexual harasser. But sure, let?s have Brad Pitt make a Harvey Weinstein reference in a discussion about ?end of an era? Hollywood.
There are always events in history which mark the end of an era. During an interview with The Sunday Times, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood costars Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio opened up about the massive impact the Manson family murders, which are depicted in the new film, had on Hollywood ? and the parallels that can be seen today.
?When my parents described it, it was as the end of this idealized revolution,? DiCaprio, 44, explained. ?My parents are still hippies, but it was the loss of this dream. As Quentin [Tarantino] describes, you sort of portray this utopia, but there is a mildew around the canvas that brought the darkness of humanity into play and ended a lot of my parents? hopes for how they could infuse that ?love and peace? ideology into the rest of the world. It all sort of crashed, and ended so much that some talk of it as a conspiracy. It was the total end of an era ? immediately.?
Pitt, who was 5 years old at the time of Tates death, also weighed in: People started locking doors again. We were coming off a tumultuous decade of assassinations and the free-love and civil rights movements, and, as I understand it, there was still hope. But when this hit? And even rich white celebrities were in danger? No one was safe. Even people living the dream.
When asked if anything has rattled Hollywood in a similar way, Pitt was quick to respond. Harvey Weinstein, he replied, later asking: Can I say that? After Pitt questioned whether his response was in bad taste, he was asked if he was referring to, as the writer put it, a similar loss of innocence in a world that was cocooned and thought of in a glorified way. Its more that I think were getting recalibrated, Pitt clarified. But in a good way.
In addition to speaking about Weinstein, the two stars talked about masculinity and how the idea around it has changed.
When I started, I loved Mickey Rourke and Sean Penn, Pitt told the newspaper. I loved them because there was a toughness to them, which was how the male Id grown up being taught about was meant to be. But they were also vulnerable, raw and open, and I always appreciated that. What I see now is a new masculinity, especially with people who have gone through Hollywood and its recalibration, a new male who is more vulnerable. Im not talking mushiness ? I mean a man who owns his own flaws and is aware of them and open about it. And vulnerable, with real feelings, rather than being this macho, trying-to-be-tough guy. But that might just be me in my old age, on my own trip, projecting onto everyone else.
[From People & E! News]
Sean Penn and Mickey Rourke were both accused of assaulting girlfriends too, but when they were young, those were the two guys most young actors wanted to be. I?m not sure what that means.
What do you think of Brad?s comparison to the Weinstein situation being an ?end of an era? in Hollywood similar to the Manson murders? I don?t know. It?s difficult to judge whether the Weinstein situation really changed anything, because we?re not even two years past the initial revelations. Weirdly, I sort of see Brad?s point the revelation with the Weinstein situation was that Weinstein was preying on every type of woman, even massively famous women, women who everyone assumed were ?protected? by money and fame and access. That was what made the #MeToo movement so powerful and so tragic the realization that so many men are abusive scum and that so many women, from all backgrounds and socio-economic statuses, were all victims and survivors. But did Hollywood change after that? To be continued?

As we discussed on Tuesday, Brad Pitt seems to have flown to Venice straight from his promotional work in Cannes for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Brad?s not just visiting Venice for the sights, although I imagine he has done some touristy things. No, he?s there for the Biennale art event, and to see his good friend, artist Thomas Houseago. These photos are from Tuesday can we just take a moment and talk about Brad?s sleeves? Those are Mid-life Crisis Sleeves, swear to God. No self-respecting man should be doing those loose, blousey sleeves.
Anyway, as many people mentioned on the previous post, it seems like Brad skipped his daughter?s 13th birthday. Shiloh turned 13 on Monday, and my goodness I can?t believe it?s been 13 YEARS since she was born in Namibia. Crazy. There?s been no word on how Shiloh celebrated her big birthday, but I imagine she was with her mom and her brothers and sisters. Or maybe she was playing soccer, or she went skateboarding, or something else. It?s pretty clear that those kids have gotten used to an absentee father, so hopefully Shiloh wasn?t expecting to see Brad.
Additionally, the Daily Mail is doing the Daily Mail thing and trying to make it sound like Brad could be in Venice with a lady. Now, it wouldn?t surprise me at all if Brad does a Girlfriend Unveiling this summer. I just don?t think it?s going to be this young woman, who looks more like an artist?s assistant or someone who works for the art exhibition. You can see another photo of this Mystery Woman here in that ET pic, she looks more like his type. But ET just says that Brad is spending time with ?friends? in Venice. I don?t know.

| Brad Pitt wants the Make It Right class action lawsuit thrown out, claims he's not liable | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
There were quiet rumors about Brad Pitt?s Make It Right NOLA project for several years. The rumors involved shoddy workmanship, and the MIR homes being unliveable after a few years. Apparently, the MIR homeowners really did try to deal with everything quietly, and they repeatedly asked MIR to help them deal with all of the problems in their homes. MIR did next to nothing to help them, and the city had to come and destroy several of the MIR homes because they were so shoddily made. So over the summer, the homeowners organized as a group and sued MIR and Brad Pitt. Brad?s team has being doing a lot to make it sound like it was just an issue with one architect, or one supplier, and that Brad had walked away from MIR years ago therefore he had no liability. Now it seems that Brad wants the homeowners? class action lawsuit thrown out, or just the part of the lawsuit where he would be held accountable.
Brad Pitt is demanding a class action lawsuit filed against him and his charity over the homes built following Hurricane Katrina be tossed out, and claims it was not his responsibility to make sure the homes were properly built. On November 20, the actor filed court documents in Louisiana in the lawsuit brought against him and his Make It Right Foundation.
Pitt says Make It Right was founded, ?with the mission of building high-performance, sustainably-designed homes to be sold at affordable prices to residents of the Lower Ninth Ward, following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.? The star says he had no duty personally to the homeowners and did not breach any deal with them. Translation: ?I?m an actor, not a construction worker.?
Pitt points out that the plaintiffs have previously praised him for leading the charge on building the homes, and specifically mentioned ?that they are extremely grateful to Mr. Pitt for his efforts in helping to rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward.? The court docs state, ?Mr. Pitt cannot simply be lumped together with other defendants and held liable for alleged conduct in which he is not even alleged to have participated.?
The actor?s lawyers argue that the ?Petition contains no allegations that Mr. Pitt committed any act or omission, other than in his capacity as a Director, which allegedly caused plaintiffs emotional distress, much less a physical injury.? Pitt is demanding he be dismissed entirely out of the case. He is not requesting that Make It Right be let off the hook, but only wants himself personally dismissed.
Make it Right Foundation was founded by Pitt to help residents move back to the Lower Ninth Ward following Hurricane Katrina. The charity helped build affordable homes and sold them to residents whose homes were destroyed.
[From The Blast]
Again, I can?t help but think of how much credit Brad took when he formed MIR. He was on the cover of Architectural Digest. He was giving interviews in New Orleans to the Today Show. He was hosting charity events for MIR in New Orleans. He wanted so much credit, and he got it. And now that everything is covered in mold and water damage, he?s like ?I don?t know her? and ?I?m just an actor, y?all.? I mean, I?m sure he has some sort of legal argument, but considering all of the credit he got for MIR when it was considered successful, it seems stupid for him to now claim that he has no responsibility of liability.

| Angelina Jolie marks the 23rd anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Angelina Jolie just keeps doing her thing. While Brad Pitt leaks like a sieve to multiple outlets about how he?s now father of the year, Angelina just keeps focused and ignores him for the most part. I wonder if that?s one of the reasons why Brad is being so extra these days: he wants a reaction from her, bad or good, but she?s not taking the bait. So, what is Angelina up to this week? Oh, just marking the anniversary of Srebrenica genocide with a public statement.
Angelina Jolie is remembering the victims of the Bosnian genocide in 1995 that killed over 8,000 Muslim men and boys. The actress, who centered her 2011 directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey around the Bosnian war that led to genocide, commemorated the 23rd anniversary with a powerful statement about the hardships the European country and its citizens still face today.
?The passage of time cannot diminish the pain felt by survivors of the war in Bosnia or the horror of the Srebrenica genocide,? Jolie said in a statement. ?I have never met more brave, dignified and resilient women than the Mothers of Srebrenica, many still searching for their lost sons and husbands 23 years after the genocide. My thoughts and my heart are with them, and with all survivors in Bosnia today. Srebrenica stands as an indelible warning of the consequences when we fail to take sides when innocent civilians are threatened with aggression. It is also a reminder that the international community can act together, as NATO eventually did in Bosnia, to end the conflict and protect civilian life.?
Jolie serves as Special Envoy to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and uses her role to work in support of refugees around the world. In her statement, the activist hopes the anniversary reminds nations around the world to take steps in preventing another genocide as millions of refugees are displaced.
?On this the 23rd anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, I hope we will be inspired to renew our sense of responsibility towards others, and our confidence in our ability to act collectively to prevent genocide and war crimes and defend international law,? Jolie said. ?It is in our hands, and would be the best way of honoring the memory of those who died in Srebrenica.?
[From People]
It says something awful about America that in the same week that Donald Trump is doing the most to destabilize NATO alliances, an American actress and humanitarian is praising NATO?s involvement to deal with the Bosnian genocide. At the time, President Clinton had close diplomatic relationships with NATO allies, and they worked together however imperfectly to help the Bosnian people. I don?t want to depress everyone, but I doubt that will happen again anytime soon.
