Drew Barrymore has lost out on the chance to direct the third Twilight film - the gig is reportedly set to go to Spanish filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona.Earlier this week Barrymore revealed she was on a shortlist to take over the teen vampire franchise after this year’s sequel New Moon.“I’m one of the directors that is being talked about, which is great, because I’m a director now,” she said. But Bayona - who directed the Spanish-language horror-thriller The Orphanage and has never directed an English-language film - will instead take the reigns of Eclipse.Catherine Hardwicke directed the hugely successful first movie and Chris Weitz is onboard to helm this year’s sequel.Eclipse is slated for a June 30, 2010 release.

Although reports have recently said that Ginnifer Goodwin and Justin Long were together, it seems this may no longer be the case - or it never was. Drew Barrymore and Justin Long split 8 months ago, but they were seen out at two restaurants on two separate nights macking on each other and being very coupley.
Drew, 34, and Justin, 30, walked into Hollywood hotspot Bar Marmont on Thurs., March 12, and spent the next few hours engaging in full-on PDA. A spywitness reveals to reports Life & Style, ?They couldn?t get enough of each other. I don?t think they even noticed that there were other people in the room! In between kisses it was all smiles and laughs.?
The next night, the couple reunited at Ike sushi in Hollywood. ?They sat at the sushi bar and ordered Sake and dinner. They were both in a great mood. They were smiling ear to ear the whole time, and laughing and looking they were so happy they were going to burst,? an eyewitness reveals. ?Once they polished off the sake, Justin ordered a Sapporo beer and split it with Drew. Justin grabbed Drew?s hand and held it on his thigh. They looked in love. They finished their dinner with him springing for the tab, and walked out arm in arm.?

Drew recently did an interview with W in which she came across as if she’s in a good place in her life. She’s trying to establish herself as a more serious actress and director, and maybe Justin will help keep her happy on the personal side of things, too.
The two of them always seemed like a very sweet couple together. Their breakup was also relatively amicable, though Justin dropped out of Drew’s film project Whip It! when they decided to call it quits. Even though they remained friends after their relationship ended, the reports of Ginnifer hooking up with Justin seemed a little strange to me - no matter how easy your breakup, it’s doubtful that Drew would encourage her friend to go out with her ex.

Drew Barrymore has just directed her first feature film, Whip It, starring Marcia Gay Harden, Ellen Page, and Jimmy Fallon. She’s about to make a dramatic debut in the HBO series Grey Gardens about the Onassis family, where Drew will play Edith Beale. She recently sat down with W to discuss her projects, her life, and her relationships. Here are some highlights:
On being happy
Such is the range of her appeal that she has claimed the covers of Playboy, Seventeen and Ladies? Home Journal; this past February, Barrymore beat out Jay Leno and Oprah (Oprah!) to win Greyhound?s first-ever survey to name America?s favorite celebrity road-trip buddy. Barrymore calls herself an optimist but is the first to concede that she works hard to be happy. ?I get out of bed with a spring in my step like, I?m going to f—in? rock this day,? she says. ?I?m going to make people happy. Here I go.?
How playing Edie brought out her dark past
The self-doubting Edie, by turns withdrawn and theatrical, liberated her from playing that part. ?I was excited to bring my own pain to something,? says Barrymore, without a hint of any of it. ?I mean, contrary to my happy-go-luckiness, I have so much darkness in there. Playing Edie, I felt like s—. I thought, I?m afraid beyond anything I?ve ever known. I?m miserable; I?m scared; I feel sick all the time. And I was like, Good! At least I have somewhere to put it. You know what? I?m not f—in? happy all the time. I like making people feel good, but it was great not to have to please anybody. I was out there for myself and for her.?
Wanting to feel as cut off from the world as Edie had, she didn?t use her cell phone or laptop or watch TV, and she read only Edie?s journals and favorite Nathaniel Hawthorne novel, The Marble Faun. The actress insisted that everyone on set call her Edie, and as Edie, composed journal entries and letters to Long on a typewriter. (Her best friend and producing partner, Nancy Juvonen, sent Barrymore a formal letter, addressed to Edie, to invite her to her wedding to Jimmy Fallon.) Fearing she might ?snap,? Sucsy recalls, he suggested she return to playing Drew on Saturdays. Her dresser, Kent Cummins, an old friend of hers, confided to Sucsy, ?Even the Saturday-night Drew wasn?t the full Drew.?
On her relationships with her mother and father
When I ask if she sees her mother, Barrymore gives the only terse answer in the interview. ?No contact,? she replies. Her father, John, an alcoholic actor, left before Drew was born and was absent for much of her childhood, though they forged a bond when he was dying of bone-marrow cancer, and Barrymore, then 29, paid for his care. ?He was so feeble, I could actually nail him down,? she says sardonically. ?He was such a flighty bird?unattainable and off doing his own thing. I?m sure it?s affected my relationships with men. I?m sure I?m sadder about it than I admit, but I accept that a lot easier than my mother?s and my relationship, which is more tumultuous.?
[From W]
The interview is very well-written and I would recommend checking it out. Her latest projects sound very diverse and I’m interested in seeing both her directorial debut as well as her turn as a dramatic actress.
Drew’s latest film, Whip It is about a 17-year-old girl, played by Ellen Page of Juno fame, who leaves her small-town mother and finds herself on a roller derby team. Drew says the movie is about “finding your tribe,” and it seems like it has a lot of parallels to her own life - she, too, has been forced to find a “family” outside of her own blood. Her next project will be directing How to Be Single, based off the novel of the same title.
Although she is trying to establish herself outside the realm of romantic comedies, it seems like after playing such a dark and intense character like Edie, she is reverting back to the tried-and-true for the time being. If Drew wants to be a real dramatic actress as she ages, it’s probably best to ease into it - by doing one or two rom-coms for every dark role. That will make the transition much smoother.

While much of the celebrity world has migrated east for the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, Drew Barrymore seemed content to hang out in LA last night (February 16).
The “He’s Just Not That Into You” actress was spotted grabbing dinner out with a mystery male at Il Sole Italian restaurant in West Hollywood.

Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant starred in the 2007 romcom Music and Lyrics. I don’t remember hearing rumors of a potential romance between them at the time, although critics praised their on screen chemistry. There may have been more going on between them then we’re aware of, because the two were recently seen making out at a restaurant in New York, if the NY Post is to believed:
Drew Barrymore is loving being single - and available. The “He’s Just Not That Into You” star has been linked with several men recently, but had her eye on her “Music and Lyrics” co-star, Hugh Grant, Monday night. According to spies, Barrymore got very excited when the Brit walked into the Waverly Inn. “She squealed and jumped in his arms,” a spy said. The two then “made out,” but Barrymore showed up to the Beatrice Inn by herself later to hang with Clive Owen. Maybe Hugh’s just not that into her.
[From The NY Post]
Page Six is reporting this, so it’s possible these two shared a lingering hello kiss which turned into a makeout session in the retelling. Grant seems to have reconciled with his longterm girlfriend, Jemima Khan, as he’s been spotted out with her recently and is even said to have booked her favorite restaurant for Valentine’s day as a surprise.
If Hugh and Drew really did make out for a while, it seems they didn’t go farther with it that night as Drew was seen out somewhere else without Hugh later. Clive Owen is happily married with children so the fact that he was hanging out with Drew doesn’t mean much. I would have liked to have heard that Hugh and Drew are an item, though. They’re both single and cute and their names even rhyme. It’s not going to happen though, they’re too different for a relationship to translate off screen.

While many of us try to keep out distance from our exes, this isn’t the case with Drew Barrymore – as she enjoys staying close to her former flames.
“People are always like ‘Is it awkward?’ I’m like, ‘No: because if you can’t be with somebody, it doesn’t mean that the love has to go away-it just transfers to something different that works at that point in your life,” the former “ET” star tells.

Drew Barrymore looked girly and retro at the premier of her new movie, “He’s Just Not That Into You” in Hollywood, CA. Drew slicked her hair back into a long ponytail, Marilyn Monroe-like ponytail. Drew wore pale Pink lipstick and thick black winged eyeliner - I think it looks great on her!She finished off the look with 50’s style jewelry and a glam fitted black dress with a shiny satin bow.Talking with press on-hand at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the former “ET” star said making the film was “a really phenomenal thing.”“It’s in the writing; it’s a good movie; it’s about relationships and what we go through in life,” she tells.Switching topics, Drew was asked about any dating advice she might have, telling: “Be yourself - don’t have somebody fall for the person that’s not you.”Finishing up, the 33-year-old added: “I loved working with Scarlett (Johansson) and Kevin (Connolly). That’s who my character really interacts with and they’re both just so awesome.”

The stars were out for the premiere of He’s Just Not That Into You in Hollywood last night. Many of the female stars made risky outfit choices, with the exception of Jennifer Aniston, who donned a underwhelming black low-cut tuxedo suit with gold chains.
Drew Barrymore was goofy-looking in a short cocktail gown with a poofy bow on the bodice and her hair in a ponytail.
Scarlett Johansson wore a Pink strapless down with giant flowers on it. It looked like a curtain print to me.
Jennifer Connolly showed off her legs in a very short green sequined dress with jeweled gladiator heels that seemed more like a holiday outfit.
Ginnifer Goodwin looked gorgeous in a short orange cocktail dress with a bold necklace and matching strappy heels. I love her hair and makeup.
Jenna Fischer is one of my favorite celebrities, but I’d like to see her get a new stylist. Her navy blue and black dress is too plain.
The guys goofed around on the red carpet, with Bradley Cooper giving Justin Long a hug. Kevin Connolly and Ben Affleck were both dapper in suits and a little facial stubble.
He’s Just Not That Into You is out in the US this Friday, February 6. Here’s the trailer. It looks like a cute, fast-paced movie, and I usually enjoy movies like this with multiple sub plots. We’ll have to see how it does at the box office.
