I know Kaiser has already covered the photos of Emma Watson in this gorgeous Valentino dress at the Lancome pre-BAFTA party, but she just looks so pretty here that I felt the need to reprise the theme. I mean, she’s still not the most beautiful face in the world, but Emma just has that youthful glow about her and is a very lovely girl. Soon, she’ll probably be playing the role of Belle in Guillermo Del Toro’s reimagining of Beauty and the Beast (she’s in the midst of final negotiations), and she remains the current face of Lancome’s “Rouge in Love” lipstick range.
At any rate, Emma recently sat down with The Independent for a quick chat, which actually occurred on the eve of the pre-BAFTAs event and is just now making it to print. Here are some excerpts:
On make-up: “Make-up is actually something I’ve always really loved. The hair and make-up department on the Potter films were the people who saw me first thing in the morning and last thing at night, so that space was somewhere I felt at home. When we had spare time on set, I’d do their make-up and get them to teach me how to do stuff. I haven’t had my make-up done for two or three month. I know! But it’s really weird for me because I used to have it done every day. So it felt like a treat today.”
On college: “It’s just given me time, really. People use their time at university and at school, which I didn’t have, to really think about and figure out what they want to do, and who they want to be. And it’s been so nice not to be pushed around or pushed into doing things.”
On staying grounded: “Doing the Potters was such a bubble, and then having to figure out how to function in the real world has been a challenge. But it’s been the small successes for me: I know how to use a washing machine, I can cook. It’s worth it to me not to feel disconnected from everything, feeling like I’m in touch with people who do other things than acting or being in the entertainment industry.”
Friends normalize her: “I think humour has been a help. I have schoolfriends, a group of people around me, who have carried me through this whole experience and aren’t fazed if they ask, ‘Oh what are you doing tomorrow?’ and I say, ‘I’m going up to see Mario [Testino] in Notting Hill, he’s shooting me for the new Lancme campaign.’ I don’t know – it is mad, and some days I feel a bit mad, but it’s the balance that keeps me sane. I don’t fully live it, this side of my life. Some days, for some reason, I can’t go anywhere and I’m like, ‘That was a mistake,’ and other days no one will even notice me.”
Fashion is freeing: “Fashion gave me a chance to feel like I was something outside of Potter,” she explains, of her appearances front row at shows such as Chanel and Burberry. “I’m a multidimensional person and that’s the freedom of fashion: that you’re able to reinvent yourself through how you dress and how you cut your hair or whatever.”
On the reaction to her haircut: “I had journalists asking me if this meant I was coming out, if I was a lesbian now.” She rolls her eyes. “That haircut did make me realise how subjective everyone’s opinion is. Some people were crazy for it and some people just thought I’d lost my sh-t. All I can do is follow my instincts, because I’ll never please everyone.”
[From The Independent]
I do believe that Emma’s drastic, post-Potter haircut was a pretty big move, but it was largely inspired by the end of her eight-movie contract. Finally, she had the freedom to do whatever she bloody wanted with her hair, and undoubtedly, she was likely tired of having the same Hermoine hair for so many years running. Of course, the danger in a short haircut is getting stuck with a fairly nonversatile style for far too long as well. Still, it’s slightly bizarre that journalists actually questioned her sexuality because of her hairstyle. Nothing really is sacred anymore, is it?

I never understood the obsession nerds (that means you) have with Emma Watson, but she does look cute in that little red dress. I thought I should post them for you so that you can put on your best Harry Potter costume and do whatever it is that wizards do to their neglected wands. Enjoy.

| Emma Watson in red-pink Valentino in London: the best she's ever looked' | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

We haven?t heard or seen much of Emma Watson since she began ?studying abroad? at Oxford University last fall. After much consternation and name-calling (on my part), I was so happy to see her go back to school and avoid the pitfalls of becoming a child-star-turned-party-girl (see: Lindsay Lohan). I was also happy to Emma go back to school because it?s given me a chance to miss her. These are our first photos of Emma since the UK premiere of My Week With Marilyn last November, and at that point, Emma had already ?disappeared? for several months too. This is smart – only make one appearance every few months. Let people miss you. Let your red carpet appearances become an ?event?. This is the path that Emma Roberts should be following – but she isn?t.
Anyway, Emma was the hostess of a Lancome-sponsored pre-BAFTA event in England yesterday. Emma is one of the faces of Lancome, a decision I wasn?t happy with, but whatever. This is maybe the best Emma has ever looked, right? I?m not imagining things? This red-pink Valentino dress is perfect – sexy, young, girly, feminine and not saccharine. There?s a peek-a-boo effect with the lace that adds an interesting dimension, and I?m pretty sure I?m seeing the shadow of a nipple. Is that trashy? Or does it add some mystique? I kind of like it – it?s not overt, like she?s falling out of her dress or something. She just needs some nip-tape. Overall, I think this dress and Emma are a perfect fit together – small-busted girls get to wear all of the CUTE stuff, damn it.
I also love that her lipstick doesn?t perfectly match the dress too – it complements the dress, but it?s not too matchy-matchy. And how great is it that she?s growing out her Bieber hair?

She may only be 21 years old, but Emma Watson is already a seasoned veteran when it comes to red carpet events.
On Friday (February 10), the ?Harry Potter? star arrived at the Pre-BAFTAS Party for Lancome Paris in London, England.
As the face for Lancome, the lovely Emma posed for several pictures showing off her red laced designer dress and heels outside The Savoy Hotel.
As a fan of bright red lipstick created by the makeup giant, Watson recently said, ?It was probably the product I was most excited about when I came aboard Lancme. I actually chose the color that I wore in shoot, which is a really bright red.?

| Emma Watson declared 'Most Beautiful Face' in the world: good choice' | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

TC Candler has posted its 22nd Annual Independent Critics List of the 100 Most Beautiful Faces, and the list is rather surprising. Neither Angelina Jolie nor Jennifer Aniston have qualified for the list, which purports to not focus solely upon aesthetic beauty but also upon “grace, elegance, class, poise, joy, promise, hope…” After a presumably careful qualification process on an international basis, the list has settled upon Emma Watson in 1st place. Yes, Emma is very, very pretty in a very youthful way, but I can’t think of any reason why she’d be considered the “most beautiful face” in the world, nor is she “one of the finest talents of this current generation” in the acting department.
The rest of the list — which includes Rihanna, Marion Cotillard, and Amber Heard in the top 10 as well as Lily Collins at #18 — can be seen in its entirety here. Of course, the rankings are subjective, but it seems odd that Mila Kunis has made the list … at #100. Doesn’t this list seem a bit backwards?

Taking a break from her strenuous studies, Emma Watson dazzled at a Lancome event in Hong Kong, China on Wednesday (December 7).
The ?Harry Potter? beauty shined in a backless A-line dress as she posed for pictures and showed off her gorgeous look for the on-hand photographers.
Miss Watson is not only this year?s face of Lancome cosmetics, she's also currently studying at Oxford University in London, not far from where she grew up.
After a year there, the actress has plans to return to Brown University - the Ivy League private college in Rhode Island ? to complete her degree.

| Emma Watson on Oxford: "It's Really Nice" | Added 13 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

After making the responsible decision to attend college, Emma Watson is now studying at Oxford which happens to be in the same part of England where she grew up.
At Sunday night?s premiere of ?My Week with Marilyn,? the ?Harry Potter? star told People, "It's really nice ... just to have that steady routine and back being home, being around people I love and doing what I love.?
Although school comes first at the moment, Emma revealed, "I'm studying and really excited about my next projects," she said. "I can't really talk about them right now, but I am going to try and fit in some film projects next year in between school."
And of her role in ?My Week With Marilyn,? Watson told, "I loved it. It was less pressure, but at the same time it was an interesting role, although it was a small role. I loved the script and loved the story, and I'm very interested in Marilyn, so I really wanted to do it."

It?s funny how my opinion of Emma Watson has changed so much in the past month, once she actually went away from the public view and was actually enrolled in ?a year abroad? at Oxford. All of a sudden, I was back to liking Emma, because she followed through on her promise to be a studious, industrious, type-A student, rather than a party girl who clubs with Harvey Weinstein and does sketchy, uncomfortable, dated Lancome ads. Anyway, last night Emma took a study break and attended the UK premiere of My Week With Marilyn. Michelle Williams wasn?t there, so Emma was the It Girl on the red carpet.
Emma?s outfit is Jason Wu, and I love it? on her. Very few actresses could make this work on a red carpet, in my opinion. On Emma, it looks adorable and chic. I think what?s really helping the whole look is that Emma is growing out her hair and it?s a pretty good stage right now. She no longer looks like she has a mullet, or that she goes to Justin Bieber?s barber. Plus, her makeup isn?t overdone – so overall, she looks young, adorable, occasion-appropriate and beautiful. Oxford is good for her. I hope she sticks with it.

She's no stranger to red carpet affairs, and today (November 20) Emma Watson was spotted at the UK premiere of her latest project, "My Week with Marilyn."
Dressed in a chic beige top, black mini skirt and matching black heels, the "Harry Potter actress look absolutely ravishing as she made her entrance into London's Cineworld Haymarket alongside co-stars Eddie Redmayne and Kenneth Branagh.
Aside from Emma, Eddie and Kenneth, the film stars Michelle Williams in the lead role while Judi Dench and Dougray Scott helm supporting roles.
Directed by Simon Curtis and set for a November 23rd release date, the much-talked-about film tells the story of "Colin Clark, an employee of Sir Laurence Olivier's, who documents the tense interaction between Olivier and Marilyn Monroe during production of The Prince and the Showgirl."

I?m eating my words, happily. Go ahead and tell me I?m full of it, that I?m a lying liar made of lies, soaking is a bath full of lies and eating lie tiramisu and drinking lie-filled Chardonnay. As it turns out, I was wrong about Emma Watson. And I?m thrilled that I was wrong about her. In the Spring of this year, Emma announced that she was going to be ?taking a break? from university - she was finishing up her second year at Brown, and I believe that she didn?t complete her Spring semester, because she got work from Lancome and she went to shoot a movie. I was very suspicious of Emma?s decision to ?take a break? because A) Her story kept changing and B) She seemed more concerned with partying and having fun, all while maintaining her ?good, studious girl? persona.
Then, a few months ago, Emma?s story changed once again, and suddenly she was no longer taking a break, but she was ?transferring? or doing a semester or a year abroad at Oxford. I was suspicious of that too, and I figured that we would eventually get an announcement that Emma had decided to ?study abroad? too late, and that there was a paperwork mix-up and she never did enroll in Oxford. But I was wrong! Mea culpa. She?s actually at Oxford right now! She sent a message to her fans on her blog:
To Everyone who is starting a New School Year, (sorry those who have been at school for a while Oxford starts late)
Just to say have a great term and good luck with all your work.
You might not hear from me for a while because I will be really busy studying but I wanted to just say hi and bye : )
Hope you all like ‘My Week with Marilyn’ and i’ll keep you posted on ‘Perks’.
Love Emma xx

Should I eat sh-t some more? I?m sorry. All of you Emma-defenders were right! She?s a good girl. She?s studious. She takes her education seriously. I was wrong to question her. (Was I? Meh.)
