Taking their turn on the north of the border red carpet, Emma Watson and Nina Dobrev were the picture of beauty at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival premiere of "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" on Saturday evening (September 9).
Joining the darling damsels were their male castmates Logan Lerman, Johnny Simmons and Ezra Miller, as the young co-stars confidently worked the Ryerson Theatre venue like seasoned pros.
As for their movie, the Stephen Chbosky directed drama tells the story of 15-year-old Charlie (Lerman) and his struggle to cope with his first love, the suicide of his best friend, and his own mental illness, all while struggling to fit in.
Also starring Paul Rudd, Mae Whitman, Dylan McDermott, and Kate Walsh, ?The Perks of Being a Wallflower? is set to hit theaters on September 14.

Waving shyly at fans and awaiting cameras, Emma Watson arrived at "The Late Show with David Letterman" on Tuesday (September 4).
Showing off her Big Apple glam, the "Perks of Being a Wallflower" star wore a navy blouse with matching skinny pants, a white blazer and open-toed heels.
When the 22-year-old actress cut her hair two years ago into a short pixie cut, she turned quite a few heads. She told US Glamour, "The majority of the boys around me were like, 'Why did you do that? That's such an error'. And I was like, 'Well, honestly, I don't really care what you think!' I've never felt so confident as I did with short hair - I felt really good in my own skin. If I had it my way, I would have just kept it short forever."
While the "Harry Potter" star could get away with styling her own looks as a kid, these days she is seeking out help for high-profile events. She confides, "When I was younger, I used to do it all myself, but I've had to get help because it's gotten to a stage where I can't show up in my Converses or whatever I bought from high street. Just practically, these gowns are ridiculous. You're being photographed from every angle, so not only do you have to consider how the thing looks, but whether you're going to be able to sit in it and whether people are going to be able to see up your skirt."

Emma Watson covers the October issues of Glamour Mag ? for both the UK and US editions (I think, but I may be wrong?). I believe the cover with the slicked back hair and the purple dress is the UK cover, and the US cover is the one with the bigger, fluffy hair and eye makeup. Emma did the dual covers to promote The Perks of Being a Wallflower, one of the first big post-Potter roles ? although Emma did have a small, blink-and-you?ll-miss-it part in last year?s My Week With Marilyn. This will be her first ?big part? in that people are curious to see if she has a fan base willing to come out and see a smaller movie just because she?s in it. As for the Glamour interview? she sounds fine. Some highlights:
Accepting her body shape: ‘I’ve accepted my body shape more as I’ve got older. I went through a stage of wanting to have that straight-up-and-down model look, but I have curves and hips, and in the end you have to accept yourself as you are.’
She?ll admit her real size, unlike a Kardashian: ‘My weight has fluctuated between a size 6 and a 10. When you’re growing, your body is still figuring itself out and it takes a while to settle down. I keep telling myself that I’m a human being, an imperfect human being who’s not made to look like a doll, and that who I am as a person is more important than whether at that moment I have a nice figure.’
Body image and peer pressure: ‘It makes me sad to hear girls constantly putting themselves down. We have these unbelievably high expectations of ourselves, when actually we’re human beings and out bodies have a function. We say that the pressure is coming from men but actually it’s from each other. I think women feel so much pressure these days and it can turn us against each other. But we really damage our own confidence when we put ourselves down, so I try not to.’
She wants more quality control in her love life: ‘I wish someone had told me at 15: “You accept the love that you think you deserve.” I would have approached my relationships completely differently if they had. I like this idea of quality control – that we don’t have to accept just anyone into our lives. People talk about love as though it just happens to you – as though you’re a victim in it all, when actually you can make good choices and bad. But women have a natural tendency to want to nurture and take care of men. I tend to date people who are quite introspective. I like deep thinkers.’
She?s still talking about her haircut: “The majority of boys around me were like, ‘Why did you do that?’ But I never felt as confident as I did with short hair.”
She doesn?t want to date another actor: “I try not to. It definitely makes me nervous. I haven’t tried to make others celebrity friends or date people who are in my industry, because it’s difficult and it can be really superficial. I’m lucky that most of the people I’ve dated I’ve been at university with.”
She?s nerdy: “I was always the smart, nerdy one. People put you in boxes, and that was my box. So it’s really nice [the compliments], but looks have never been something that I focused on or that people around me did. But I liked being nerdy one.”

I like everything she says about body image and her size fluctuations at that age ? God, when I think about how skinny I was when I was between the ages of 16 and 20, it?s crazy. And that whole time I thought I was such a whale. And then I gained weight in my early 20s and it became so difficult to take it off. Sigh? I miss my teenage metabolism and my teenage willpower. I also ended up liking what she said about ?quality control? in dating, and the tendency for women to be ?passive? about love, as if ?love? is just something that happens to them. Basically, I came out of this interview really liking Emma more than ever.

I?ve come to the conclusion that no matter what I say about Emma Watson, good or bad, Emma?s fan-girls are going to throw hissy fits. So I might as well just get on with it. Emma covers the New York Times ?T Style Women’s Fashion Fall 2012? issue, which I believe is the NYT Magazine cover this weekend. I like the photos, generally speaking. Emma?s hair is growing out nicely, I love the diamond earrings and some of the clothes featured in the shoot. My only two complaints? Her eye makeup is too heavy (the liquid eyeliner looks worse than Duchess Kate?s), and I dislike the Kardashian-esque open-mouth pose. You can read the full NYT profile of Emma here ? she?s on the cover because she?s promoting The Perks of Being A Wallflower, where she?s trying out her American accent for the first time in a film. The NYT piece is kind of meh ? it?s written by a man who is not an Emma fan-girl, so it comes across as ?making the effort not to fawn on this young actress.? Some highlights from the piece:
Her American accent: ?My grandma said ? when I was really young and I?d sing along to the radio ? why do you sing in an American accent? I guess it was because a lot of the music I was listening to had American vocalists. And that was something [m director Steve Chbosky] said to me as well: try singing the lines in an American accent. That kind of opened me up. Then I worked with a dialogue coach and I just put in the time to really, really listen and just go over it and over it and over it until I could do it without thinking about it too hard. And I just knew it was really important.?
Why hasn?t she done more films before now? ?I think at first I didn?t because I was always either studying or filming, I didn?t have time to go off and do other films or other things to sort of show people that, Oh, she is not just Hermione, she is an actress and she can go and do these other parts and roles. . . . I didn?t, because I was so focused on, you know, on my GCSEs and on my AS and on my A-levels and then getting in to university and then whatever, I didn?t really have time to do any of that.?
How did she enjoy Brown University? ?My first two years at Brown weren?t easy, not because I was bullied or because anyone gave me a particularly hard time, but just because, you know, without the collegiate system . . . and at Brown everyone does completely different things and very much chooses their own path, which is great, but it?s also much more difficult, too. You?re not with a group of people all the time at one time.?
Parental advice: ?Yeah, I think I?ve been lucky in that neither of my parents got swept up in it, it wasn?t something they wanted for me, it wasn?t something that they were overawed by. They gave me the best advice they could, and I think they gave me very good advice. But my mum particularly said, ?Right, you?re going to go into these interviews and they?re going to ask you anything they feel like asking you, and every time they ask you a question, think about whether you?d be comfortable discussing it with a stranger.? ?
Finding her career on the upswing: ?I?m not really sure how I?ve managed to do it.? But then she got a little more real: ?I guess weirdly in my head I knew what I wanted, I didn?t know how it would or if it would ever happen. But before ?Bling Ring,? I said I?d really wanted to meet Sofia Coppola and ? this is before I knew that she had a film in mind ? ended up meeting her. And Darren was someone who actually I met a good year ago. And then I?m doing a film with Guillermo [del Toro] next summer, and I went to him and said Warner Brothers have given me the script for ?Beauty and the Beast,? but the only way I?d really want to do it is if you did it. And then miraculously he said, ?Oh, funnily enough ?Beauty and the Beast? is my favorite fairy tale, I can?t let anyone else do this, I?ll start putting a team together.? ?
Fame: Nowadays, while she can walk around fairly happily in quiet areas of London or New York, there are plenty of other places that are off-limits: ?If I went to somewhere busy, I wouldn?t last very long. I can?t go to a museum, I?ll last 10 or 15 minutes in a museum. The problem is that when one person asks for a photograph, then someone sees a flash goes off, then everyone else sort of . . . it?s sort of like a domino effect. And then very quickly the situation starts to get out of control to a point where I can?t manage it on my own.?

See? It?s not a particularly dishy interview. I did find her answer to the Brown Univ. question interesting ? she reiterated that she was NOT bullied and no one ?gave me a particularly hard time? ? meaning that some people teased her but it didn?t bother her, I wonder? As for the discussion of ?At Brown everyone does completely different things and very much chooses their own path, which is great, but it?s also much more difficult, too. You?re not with a group of people all the time at one time.? I?m not sure what this means? Are British universities really that different in how they treat first and second-year students and the general curriculum? Or is this Emma?s way of saying that she was just unaccustomed to the wildly different atmosphere of American college life, and she basically had culture shock?

Another day, another BS casting rumor about the screen adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. It finally struck me the other day: why are people jazzed about this becoming an actual film that?s shown in theaters? It would be one thing if the required nudity and sexual situations had some sort of larger point (like Shame), but this is basically going to be ?mom p0rn? anyway, so why not just make it an HBO or Showtime movie? That way it can be as dirty as it needs to be without having to worry about censors and ratings systems, which will just dull the ?p0rn? part of the story and it will just become a stupid movie about a freaky dude ordering around his idiot girlfriend. Anyway, I guess that?s a conversation for another time. The latest casting rumors involve 22-year-old Emma Watson as Anastasia Steele, and Matt Bomer (34) as Christian Grey. Emma?s age is actually on-target with the character, but Christian is supposed to be late 20s, if memory serves. Also: Matt Bomer is WAY too good of an actor for this. And Emma is just? inappropriate for the role. In any case, the producers of 50 Shades say nothing?s really happening:
Former Harry Potter geek heroine Emma Watson is in talk in playing the role of Anastacia Steele in the movie adaptation of erotic novel “Fifty Shades of Grey,” New York Daily News reported.
The 22-year-old British actress is one of the prime choices for the role of Anastacia Steele in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie adaptation.
Anastacia Steele is a virgin college student who gets involved in sexual relationship with a young successful businessman Christian Grey after applying for a job post in Grey’s conglomerate. The novel depicts erotic scenes between the two that involve bondage activities.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Harry Potter alumnae Emma Watson is one of the frontrunners for the female lead. While “Vampire Diaries” heartthrob Ian Somerhalder is the top actor contemplated to play the role of the charismatic billionaire Christian Grey.
However, one of the film’s producers Dana Brunetti denied all casting rumors on the much awaited film. Brunetti tweeted, “All of the rumors on #FiftyShades are just that – rumors. No one has been cast in any role. We have to get a writer and director first.”
His partner in crime Mike De Luca also tweeted a confirmation that “no one’s been cast or even approached yet, all just rumors.” This means that the roles are still up for grabs.
Watson rose to fame as the 11-year-old Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series. After graduating from the series, Emma cut her hair short to symbolize her detachment from her child-like image and reinvent herself as a matured and independent woman.
Emma successfully made the crossover and is now invading Hollywood. She bagged the role of Sam in the movie adaptation of coming of age book “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” opposite Logan Lerman. Currently, Emma is busy filming a line up of films, Sofia Coppola’s “The Bling Ring” and Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah.”
The innocent-looking 22-year-old Emma Watson is the top candidate for the sexual role in the movie. However, the young actress did not release any comment yet if she is interested in playing for the film.

Emma is trying to make herself into the next Natalie Portman or something ? the child actress and good girl who successfully transitioned into a quality adult actor. While the 50 Shades role would definitely help to make Emma?s image more ?adult? and take her out of the Harry Potter fan-universe, I really don?t think it would be a smart career move overall.
And I keep hearing Ian Somerhalder for Christian. And I keep thinking that?s completely appropriate. That is where the casting should be. Cast this junk straight out of the CW.

We don’t have access to the Emma Watson photos I’m going to be referencing, so you have to go here to The Mail to see them. They’re photos of Emma with her dog, a little bichon frise named Darcy, and Emma has had her puppy dyed pink. Now… ugh. I know Emma has a lot of fans and they’re very vocal and yes, I’m not their favorite person. But RLY? Even if the dye is completely organic – which it is in this instance – why would you do this to a dog? It’s one of my bigger peeves about animal-owners. Granted, I’ve only had big dogs, dogs that don’t get designer outfits or vegetable dyes. But dyeing your animal is so… Paris Hilton.
Picasso had his rose period ? and now so too does Emma Watson?s dog Darcy, after the Harry Potter actress dyed her a shocking shade of bubblegum pink. Thanks to a fashionable 90 treatment, the one-year-old bichon frise now has a look that might go down well with pink-loving Hogwarts professor Dolores Umbridge ? even if it has raised eyebrows among some animal-lovers.
Ms Watson was spotted with the Pink pooch on the streets of Bethnal Green, East London, on Friday, after having the dye treatment at Groom Dog City. Owner Stuart Simons said: ?Emma has dyed Darcy twice. Pink is our biggest colour, but I do look after another bichon called Casper who comes in for a blue mohican.?
He said the beetroot-based semi-permanent dye is harmless. ?All the dyes I use are completely animal-friendly. They are made from vegetable dye. I wet the dog, rub it on like a shampoo, leave it for five minutes and then wash it off. Because Darcy is white, it takes really well. She is a very calm dog, absolutely lovely, and she enjoys her groom.?
But TV vet Emma Milne said: ?Dogs are not playthings; they are not dolls. If you are putting a chemical on a dog?s fur, you could cause that dog problems. Even if the dye is completely safe ? and the dye that Emma Watson has used should be absolutely fine ? you are still altering the way the dog looks and smells to other animals. Potentially, it could have an effect on the way that dog interacts with other dogs. A dog is still a living object that hasn?t had any say on whether it wants to be pink.?
Unsurprisingly, Mr Simons ? whose own dyed dogs have featured in campaigns for fashion house Mulberry ? disagrees.
?Lots of people say it?s cruel to dye a dog but I say, it takes no time, it doesn?t affect their skin and they don?t look in the mirror and go, ?Oh, I?m so embarrassed.? Rather, they get so much attention in public and all the strokes and interaction, it can?t be a bad thing.?
He also believes his salon will see a sharp increase in ?doggy dyes? during the Olympics. ?Oh yes,? he said. ?I expect to get a lot of requests for red, white and blue. And I may be able to do the Olympic circles on poodles.?

Is that a strong argument, the one that the animal rights woman is making? That you’re messing with the dog’s natural smell and look and that’s wrong? Eh. I’m all for grooming. And I’ve used Pert Plus on my puppy many times (he hates baths). But I think the argument against dyeing an animal is simply “It’s tacky to do that to your dog.” Or, “Why would you do something that Paris Hilton would do?”
UPDATE: Emma got on Twitter to deny that the dog is even hers: “Ayeye. Just to clarify one more time that I don’t have a dog. @PinkDarcyDog is Pink because her owner is raising money for breast cancer.”

Gearing up for an outbound flight, Emma Watson was spotted at JFK International Airport in New York City today (June 15).
The ?Harry Potter? hottie looked lovely in a printed scarf with a black jacket, distressed jeans and grey flats as she walked into the terminal.
On the career front, Emma has a pair of films (?The Perks of Being a Wallflower? and ?Bling Ring?) coming out over the next year, and is also said to be on the cast for a new project from Darren Aronofsky based on the Biblical story ?Noah.?
Watson would play the role of a young woman on the ark named Ila, though details are still sketchy at this point.

A very cute and fashion-forward Emma Watson was the only member of the Harry Post cast who was at the MTV Movie awards last night to accept the award for Best Cast. She seemed a little nervous during her acceptance speech, but was gracious and well spoken. Emma thanked all the other castmembers and added a special shoutout at the end to “Dan and Rupert,” adding “Wherever you are, I hope you’re watching, and I miss you both dearly. Just, thank you. I really, really appreciate it.” That was sweet. (If you’re in the US, you can watch her acceptance speech here.) Emma also presented the award for Best Male Performance, along with her Perks of Being a Wallflower costars, Logan Lerman and Ezra Mille. You can watch that here.
In still photos, this Brood dress looks a little much with the goofy dust ruffle around the waist, the black piping and buttons, and the contrasting bold purple and blue patterns. In video, it looks amazing on her incredible figure. I love her leather cuffs and her shoes especially, which Red Carpet Fashion Awards identifies as Tabitha Simmons “Gothic” sandals. A quick google search reveals that they’re $949 at Nordstrom, so I don’t think I’ll be adding them to my collection. Damnit. Also, her hair is growing out and it was a little limp last night but not bad. I love that she didn’t over accessorize and skipped the earrings.
Shailene Woodley also took home an award last night, for Best Breakthrough Performance for The Descendants. She told MTV’s Josh Horowitz afterward that she was “sweating like a waterfall” on stage. (Update: Here’s a link to her acceptance speech.)
Shailene wore this black tuxedo-look Stella McCartney pantsuit which isn’t that bad and is sexy without going overboard. She’s rocked some gorgeous dresses and some conservative looks this year, and this falls in between, even with the plunging neckline. She’s still just 20 and it’s nice that she’s being a little daring without tarting it up. Also, her hair was really cute. There’s a better photo of it here.
Kate Beckinsale was hot but a little boring in this pale peach turtleneck mini dress. I can’t find a designer ID on it. I like her bold purple shoes and it’s nice to see that she didn’t go matchy-matchy with nude pumps. She looks very pretty, and at least she didn’t overdress in some gigantic ballgown as she’s done so frequently in the past. This is understated, especially for Kate.
Nikki Reed of Twilight was so pretty in this Randi Rahm gold dress, which Red Carpet Fashion Awards describes as “microbeaded.” The dress is incredible from the waist up. The bottom half doesn’t flatter her, though. I love her makeup and especially her hair. That side half-tucked under wavy asymmetric look is striking, and I don’t think I’ve seen that hairstyle before. It’s clever and flattering. Nikki doesn’t look too thrilled to be there. It makes me wonder if she’s having trouble in her marriage with that guy from American Idol, Paul McDonald.

Showing off her natural beauty, Emma Watson was spotted doing a little shopping while out and about in London, England on Tuesday (May 8).
With her cell phone and wallet in hand, the "Harry Potter" actress slightly smiled at the cameras while making her way down the street looking casual in a grey sweater blouse, a green cardigan, skinny jeans and studded black riding boots.
Although she wasn't wearing a drop of makeup for her shopping excursion, Emma recently revealed she loves pretending to be a makeup artist, "I love doing make-up. I did my mum's make-up for all her job interviews and whenever I go out, I do their make-up too."
As for some of her own beauty tricks, the 22-year-old dished, "My speciality? I like quite a natural look, but I do everything really."
One facial feature she loves highlighting are her eyebrows, explaining, "People underestimate the power of an eyebrow. I recently got my friend into penciling hers in, which she thought was such a strange concept at first."
The young actress also talked about how there can sometimes be too many beauty tips out there, "Don't listen to everyone. It's kind of overwhelming, especially with your diet and skincare. You get so many different pieces of advice, you don't know what to listen to." adding, "I think people need to judge what works for them and trust their intuition."
