Just recently I was describing what its like to do fashion commentary, and I used Sofia Vergara as an example. I said Do you know how Sofia Vergara always wears fitted mermaid dresses? Well you notice when she sticks or veers from that look and mention it. So here she is in a red Dolce & Gabbana strapless gown with silver sequin piping. This is her typical look but she still worked it. I loved her giant hoop earrings they were amazing. Sofia presented with Matt Bomer and she called him out for saying one of her lines. Some people thought that was a bit, but I though she was just standing up for herself. She wore Dolce & Gabbana though, and given how problematic those designers are this was absolutely a choice.
Also in a fitted dress with sequin piping was Molly Sims. I dont have a designer ID on this and she posted three photos to Instagram without mentioning it! I think I would like this better without the ruffles. The top half is gorgeous.

For the past five years (!!), we?ve been getting updates on Nick Loeb?s crazy ?custody? lawsuit against Sofia Vergara. Loeb and Vergara dated on-and-off for years, and at one point they were even engaged. During one of their ?on? periods, they discussed having a child via gestational carrier, and they went so far as to create embryos and have them implanted into a carrier. The fertilization didn?t ?take? and at that point, Loeb and Vergara were on the outs. They broke up, and Vergara became involved with Joe Manganiello, and now they?re happily married. Ever since Vergara left him, Loeb has been suing her for ?custody? of the remaining embryos they created. Vergara has been fighting this stalker fool for five years, even as Loeb went shopping for friendly jurisdictions to hear his stupid case. Well, even the friendliest jurisdiction thinks he?s bonkers.
Nick Loeb?s wild, never-ending frozen embryo custody case against his ex-fiance Sofa Vergara has ended in Louisiana for now ? with a judge dismissing his claims. Page Six reported last year that Vergara?s ex ?moved? to the Bayou State in a bid to win his suit there, since he hoped Louisiana would recognize the unborn embryos? rights.
The case bounced to various Louisiana courts before landing in the 25th Judicial District Court for Plaquemines Parish, where Judge Kevin D. Conner handed Vergara a big victory. Conner dismissed Loeb?s case on Oct. 11 ?with prejudice,? Page Six has learned, ruling in Vergara?s favor on nine motions and decreeing all trial exhibits except one be unsealed. Loeb was fighting to keep the documents private.
Loeb also argued he?d lived at two Louisiana residences outside New Orleans on ?Zeta Drive? and ?Protti Drive.? But according to court papers, the judge found that Loeb ?testified he did not spend one night at the Protti Drive apartment and that he did not furnish it. He hired someone to receive the furniture and decorate the apartment on Zeta. Mr. Loeb has never voted in Plaquemines Parish ? [He] admitted that the utilities at his Belle Chase apartment were cut off due to nonpayment. He does not know any of his neighbors on Zeta.? The judge said that Loeb ?does not operate any businesses? or ?have a bank account? there.
?According to Mr. Loeb, he resides everywhere and nowhere. He arrived in Louisiana the day before the deposition, traveling from New York,? and while Loeb lived in suburban Belle Chasse, ?he stayed for several days at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in New Orleans.? The judge also pointed out that during the time Loeb alleged he lived in Louisiana, he had a daughter with another girlfriend, but the baby was born in New York, and ?the child and her mother currently reside in Barcelona,? where Loeb has a $400,000 yacht.
Loeb?s lawyer told us, ?We will be appealing the court?s decision,? and said the embryos ?are human beings with every right to their lives and every right to be born.? The couple split in 2014.

I mean, it sounds like the judge threw the case out on a massive technicality, but that?s good enough for me and I suspect it?s good enough for Sofia Vergara too. Loeb thought he could game the system by buying/renting property in Louisiana with the sole purpose of establishing residency for his unhinged lawsuit. And the judge says that Loeb couldn?t even do that right. I hope this is the end of this emotionally abusive mess, but probably not. Loeb will probably end up shopping for a new jurisdiction.

I genuinely like Sofia Vergara, but maybe that?s because I take her in small doses. Like, I enjoy the fact that the highest-paid woman on television is a Colombian woman in her 40s who speaks with a thick accent. I think that?s great for America. I?m pleased with the way Sofia has ?gotten hers? decades into her career, and that she?s finally found a guy (Joe Manganiello) who seems to take her as she is, without trying to dim her star power. But of course, some people are over Sofia. Her Charo-esque shtick is wearing a bit thin, especially when that?s the same bit they get her to do for every awards show. So, in Sofia?s new HOLA interview, she addresses the idea that she plays into the stereotype. Keep in mind though ? this is for Hola, and she?s speaking to a mostly Hispanic and Spanish-speaking audience, right?
Whether she?s playing a stereotype: ?What?s wrong with being a stereotype? Gloria?s character is inspired by my mom and my aunt. They are both Latin women who grew up in Colombia, like me. They love color, prints and shoes ? It upsets me when Latinos complain about Gloria. I am grateful for the opportunity because the gringos have let me in with this strong accent I have. Eight years ago nobody had an accent like this on television.?
Why she did the Hola cover: ?We wanted to show our fans what they wanted to see. That?s why it?s so special for us to do this cover and that?s why I convinced Joe. Because this is a really special time for us in our relationship and we enjoy our privacy, but we have the best fans in the world and we know it makes them happy to see us happy and in love.?
Joe on knowing Sofia is the one: ?We realized very early on that we each had to put the other person?s happiness and well-being ahead of our own. Once you realize that kind of trust has manifested, you hang on for dear life. Or in my case, you go and buy a ring.?

Yeah, I laughed at ?the gringos have let me in with this strong accent I have.? Again, she?s talking to a specific audience. She?s not talking TO the gringos. She?s talking to Spanish-speakers ABOUT the gringos. And she?s right, a little bit. I mean, she?s right that she?s the centerpiece of a mainstream ensemble TV show and they ?let? her speak with her natural Charo-accent, which is unique on network television. But I think she?s wrong that ?nobody had an accent like this.? Actors did have those accents, but just not on this kind of show.

Sofia Vergara almost always does a fitted gown with a sweetheart neckline and a fishtail skirt. So when she was on the red carpet talking to Giuliana Rancic, Giuliana recognized that Sofia was mixing it up and she complimented her on that. This is a very cute Zuhair Murad dress and I love how it’s so understated for Sofia and yet has a sophisticated vibe. It’s fancy but looks comfortable. Plus her shoes are kind of perfect. The bust is kind of ill fitting but that’s not too noticeable and I didn’t see it on camera.
Sofia was actually one of the first celebrities on the E! red carpet to bring up the horrible situation in the US with legitimate green card holders being turned away at our airports. Someone at E! must have told Giuliana and Brad Goreski not to bring it up at all and to act like it was business as usual and this was a big mistake, in my opinion. Other networks had more vocal celebrities, probably because they gave them a chance to speak. Sofia said, with no prompting by Giuliana because she was pointedly ignoring the subject, “it’s very hard times for everybody in the country now but it’s good that we can entertain them a little bit.” Then she talked about taking people’s minds off it, which isn’t a bad point. I’m past that now but I was there a few days ago.
Here’s Julie Bowen in J. Mendel, in a real mess of a lace dress with a see through skirt. I’m so over this look and it seems like it’s on the way out anyway. Her styling makes her look like Gwyneth Paltrow, right?
Also in J. Mendel was Gretchen Mol. The top of this dress looks like an exercise leotard. The beadwork is exquisite though and that’s how Julie’s dress could have been improved – by limiting the amount of intricate lace to just one section.
Ariel Winter was in Mikael D and she looks… different. This is a tacky gold dress but at least it’s occasion appropriate. Ariel was there with her boyfriend, Levi Meaden, and they kissed on the red carpet.
Finally here’s Giuliana Rancic in Yousef Al-Jasmi. I actually liked this, although it’s a bit showgirl, because her styling was decent – for her.

A few weeks ago, I tried to discuss the creepy saga of Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb?s embryo drama. This situation has been going on for a few years and there?s enough backstory to fill a book, so let me summarize: Nick Loeb wants ?custody? of the embryos he created with Sofia when they were together. He wants to implant them in another woman, then raise those daughters on his own, because he?s ?pro-life.? Sofia refuses to sign off on the scheme, and Nick is suing her. The latest issue involves a radical anti-choice organization in Louisiana filing suit against Sofia as well, claiming that these embryos have a constitutional ?right to live.? That lawsuit even names the embryos, calling them Emma and Isabella. Basically, Emma and Isabella have ?sued? Sofia. It?s all very dystopian and disgusting and I have so much sympathy for Sofia. Loeb comes across like such a manipulative douchebag. So, what?s the latest?
In the latest twist in the wild battle over Sofa Vergara and Nick Loeb?s frozen embryos, Page Six has learned that lawyers are gearing up to file a lawsuit demanding that the embryos be shipped from California to Louisiana. Earlier this month a stunning suit was filed against Vergara on behalf of the fertilized eggs ? which are named in the papers as ?Emma? and ?Isabella? and listed as plaintiffs. The embryos? ?trustee,? James Charbonnet, was also listed as a plaintiff.
But insiders tell us that in the new year, attorneys will ask the ART Reproductive Center in Beverly Hills, Calif. ? where the embryos have been cryogenically frozen since the former couple?s IVF treatment was completed in 2013 ? to transfer them to a facility in Louisiana. The legal team is hopeful that ART will agree because it will consider the embryos a ?legal hot potato? that it would like to be rid of. But if ART ? or Vergara ? declines permission for the embryos to be moved, Charbonnet intends to sue in federal court for the right to move the embryos.
Insiders say that the choice of Louisiana as their new home is significant because it?s the only state where embryos have legal rights of their own, rather than being considered the belongings, or ?chattels? of their parents. The embryos would be sent by courier.
?Although Nick Loeb is not a party to the existing litigation or [this] subsequently contemplated litigation, he may be a beneficiary if the court adjudicates that the embryos are not chattels but entities with constitutional rights of survival,? Loeb?s attorney Mark J. Heller told us. ?Such a ruling would defeat [Vergara?s] intention to keep her daughters? embryos frozen in perpetuity and endorse the irrevocable right of parenthood granted to donors when they contribute to the creation of an embryo.?
Loeb already sued for custody of ?Emma? and ?Isabella? in 2014 but dropped the suit this month after a California judge demanded Loeb identify women with whom he?d had aborted pregnancies. Loeb said he would rather ?go to jail? than give up the names. Vergara?s rep didn?t get back to us.

This is just INSANE. Sofia?s legal argument has been simple throughout: custody or possession of the embryos belongs to both herself and Nick. As in, they both have to sign off on anything involving the embryos. So, no, the Beverly Hills clinic isn?t going to shrug and send the embryos off to Louisiana, nor will Sofia sign off on that. And the legal implications for this are stunning across the board. Basically, what happens when couples undergo IVF treatments and freeze a number of embryos, some of which don?t get used? This could set a precedent for all of those unused embryos to ?sue? their parents. It could be used to legally force women to carry children.

One of the strangest stories of 2015 was Nick Loeb?s lawsuit against his ex-fiance Sofia Vergara. Sofia and Nick were together, on and off, for years, and at one point, they were going to have a child together via surrogacy. Nick?s sperm fertilized Sofia?s eggs in a lab, and two separate implantations were attempted, and neither stuck. In the end, Nick and Sofia broke up and she moved on with Joe Manganiello. But there were still some embryos left in the freezer, and Nick sued Sofia for ?custody? of the embryos. He wanted to implant them in another surrogate and raise the daughter (they were gender-selected girl embryos) by himself. The whole thing was an absolute mess, and Loeb ended up cozying up to the anti-choice crowd in a big way. Sofia maintained that the embryos belonged to both she and Nick, and until they could agree, the embryos would stay in the freezer.
Loeb?s original lawsuit was filed in California, and there are still motions and judgments and filings and whatever. Basically, that part of the craziness has not been settled. But then in one of the strangest twists ever, the embryos are now suing Sofia. I sh-t you not. A rabid anti-choice group has sued Sofia on behalf of the embryos, and the group has even NAMED the embryos (Emma and Isabella). The lawsuit was filed in Louisiana, a state which has a much heavier anti-choice record across the board. Page Six has the whole breakdown of the crazy new lawsuit here. It?s too stupid and disturbing to even excerpt, honestly. When media outlets went to Sofia?s lawyer, Fred Silberberg, for a comment about this new crazy lawsuit, Silberberg said:
“Next week the judge presiding over the case was to rule on Ms. Vergara?s request for sanctions against Mr. Loeb for refusing to comply with a court order, and on her motion for summary judgment-seeking dismissal of the case he filed against her, attempting to get control of pre-embryos that he created with Vergara. That genetic material was created pursuant to a written agreement that required both parties written consent to attempt to create a pregnancy. ? Reports are out that Mr. Loeb has caused a lawsuit to be filed on behalf of the pre-embryos in Louisiana, essentially trying to get the same relief that he was trying to get through his failed legal attempt in California.?
“The media reports contend that Mr. Loeb has caused a lawsuit to be initiated claiming that the pre-embryos ? which are not embryos, but rather frozen fertilized ova, have been given names by him and have a right to live.? Silberberg went on to say he believes this new lawsuit will ?result in failure? for Loeb, and that Vergara is ?happily married? and should be spared ?another unnecessary legal battle.?

If this all wasn?t so dystopian, it would be an interesting legal dilemma. The main thrust of Loeb?s argument is that by refusing to implant the two embryos (or ova), Sofia is effectively ?killing? them. But that?s not true ? those embryos can be frozen indefinitely, right? She never said ?throw them out.? She just said, ?Keep them on ice until further notice.?
Another legal argument against Loeb is that he?s only come-to-Jesus on the ?right to life? issue recently, and that (allegedly) at least two of his previous girlfriends had abortions when they were with him. Sofia?s lawyers tried to get Loeb to identify those two women, but HE ACTUALLY SAID ?I would rather go to jail than reveal the names. I believe we have to protect a woman’s right to privacy.” Yes, he has so much respect for a woman?s right to privacy. That?s why he?s suing his ex for her intimate genetic material, attempting to emotionally blackmail her, and cozying up to the ultra-right-wing anti-choice fringe. Because he has so much respect for a woman?s right to privacy.
