She is used to being in front of an audience, but this December, Carrie Underwood will be taking on a whole new platform!
On Monday (September 16), fans got their first look at the "American Idol" alum in her new role as Maria Von Trapp in the live TV production of "The Sound of Music."
Taking to Twitter, Carrie's team was the first to show off the photo, writing, "Here's a first look of @carrieunderwood as Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music. Airing 12/5 on @NBC."
Be sure to catch Miss Underwood in action when the highly-anticipated Beth McCarthy-Miller and Rob Ashford directed flick hits the airwaves at 8/7c on NBC.

Bringing an end to Faith Hill?s six-year reign as the opening voice for Sunday Night Football, Carrie Underwood unveiled her new theme song last night (September 8).
The ?Blown Away? babe was featured in a new video singing the song ?Waiting All Day for Sunday Night? as football players and action sequences flashed in the background.
Back in April, Ms. Hill announced that she would be resigning her post, and Underwood?s fans were thrilled to hear that she would serve as replacement.

She?s one of the top performers of this generation, but even Carrie Underwood hits a snag every now and then.
During her gig in South Texas last night (September 5), the ?Blown Away? babe caught her heel on the tail of her shirt and she tumbled to the stage. However, she didn?t miss a beat and kept singing as if nothing even happened.
After the concert, Carrie tweeted, "Hey, remember that time in Corpus Christi when that girl busted her butt on stage?! Hilarious! Oh wait, that was me! #5inchneels #klutz."
Underwood also shared, "I can't move my toes. Is that bad?" along with a re-posting of a fan?s tweet, "@carrieunderwood didn't fall tonight. She attacked the floor?While wearing five inch heels?She's got mad ninja skills. #FeelBetter."
Later, Carrie posted a photo of her foot wrapped up in a medical boot with the caption, "Good news, it's not broken...AND I got some new footwear!"

A big football trade to report?Faith Hill is out and Carrie Underwood is in! The ?American Idol? winner is taking over singing duties of the theme song for NBC?s ?Sunday Night Football.?
Underwood has recorded a new version of ?Waiting All Day for Sunday,? a song that?s a rewrite of Joan Jett?s 1988 rock hit, ?I Hate Myself for Loving You.? Hill sang it for six seasons.
"Obviously, we wanted to make it sound like me,? says the ?Jesus Takes the Wheel? singer, ?but we definitely wanted to bring a fun edge to it. I mean, people are getting ready to watch a big football game. I know I'm known for some big notes, but it was more about just bringing the energy."
The Oklahoma native?s theme will premiere during Sunday's season-opening broadcast when the New York Giants take on the Dallas Cowboys. She?s not taking sides but she admits to growing up in a home that cheered quite a bit for the Cowboys.

Starting off the holiday weekend with a tetanus shot, Carrie Underwood's husband Mike Fisher was bitten by a chipmunk on Saturday (August 31).
The country crooner tasked her hockey-playing hubby with removing the little guy after he got into their house.
Captured on video, the 30-year-old "American Idol" alum shared on camera that a "squirrel got into our house," before being corrected by her 33-year-old hubby.
Making quick work of him, the athlete deftly grabs the critter while his wife implores, "Oh, don't hurt it."
However, it was the furry rodent that ended up hurting Mike, as her next video showed him revealing two red bite marks on his hand. Concluding the drama, Carrie tweeted, "The chipmunk is back outside where it belongs! :) Chipmunk -1, @mikefisher1212 's hand -0." Check out the video evidence below.

Stepping out of her ?country superstar singer? role for a bit, Carrie Underwood showed up at ABC Studios in New York City this morning (August 12).
The ?Jesus, Take The Wheel? songstress was in the house to co-host ?Good Morning America,? as well as promote her ?Blown Away Tour: Live DVD? that hits stores tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Carrie will be busy in the coming months preparing for her role in the live theatrical production of ?The Sound of Music,? slated to air on NBC on December 5th.
Underwood told press, ?I?ll be living in New York for a couple months. It?s all live, so it is going to take a lot of rehearsals.?

I was also pointing and laughing like Carrie Underwood in this picture, but for different reasons. I was pointing and laughing because fringe looks stupid. Unless you’re Tonto or an extra on the set of “Last of the Mohicans,” you have no business wearing it.
I don’t mind the occasional beaded fringe or tassel (like this skirt from Jil Sander or these earrings from Haute 1), but as a rule, fringe is an outfit death sentence. For instance, these fringed pants should only happen if you’re pledging or going as Jem or one of the Holograms for Halloween. A fringed crochet vest should only happen if it’s 1973. And this fringed skirt right here should never, EVER happen, not under any circumstances. Leave fringe to country-western line dancers and Vanessa Hudgens, where it belongs.

Decked out in designer duds, the ?Two Black Cadillacs? singer and her hubby showed some love to her fans outside the Bridgestone Arena before scurrying inside to catch all the southern-fried fun.
As the night unfolds, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Luke Bryan & Ryan Tedder, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts & Journey, and Toby Keith will all battle it out for the Performance of the Year honors.
Meanwhile, the Group Video of the Year nominees include Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Pistol Annies, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, and Zac Brown Band.

Taking time away from her sold out world tour, Carrie Underwood graced the cover of Marie Claire's June 2013 issue.
Letting her guard down during the interview, the 30-year-old country crooner looked darling in a floral dress for the front page shoot while opening up about her family's reaction to her stardom and her unusual personality traits.

On her upbringing:
"We were never a huggy family. Or a ?let?s talk it out? family. Technically I have siblings, but they are quite a bit older than me ? I was the accident ? so I have the only-child syndrome going on. I?m a little more selfish, a little more independent, a little closed. I do wish I were softer. I wish I were able to form relationships better. But hey, I mean... I?m not a sociopath."
On keeping her parents away from the spotlight :
"My parents are really great people who want nothing to do with any of this. I'm the black sheep of the family. The black-crystal sheep. Swarovski."
On her hard-to-reach persona:
"When people say, 'She's hard to talk to.' This guy I know said, 'You know what I love about you? I can sit next to you and I don't have to talk.' And I'm like, 'Thank you?'"

Carrie Underwood covers the June issue of Marie Claire, and good God I think Marie Claire?s editors kind of hate her. While I usually don?t think much of Carrie?s red-carpet styling (her default is ?pageant girl?), I do think Carrie is a beautiful woman with gorgeous skin and big blonde hair that she could do so much with. I guess Marie Claire was trying to tone down the pageant-qualities and do, like, a sophisticated bedhead look? But it just looks like a big blonde rat?s nest. It?s terrible. As for the interview? well, this is one of my new favorite quotes: ?But hey, I mean?I?m not a sociopath.? If you have to say ?I?m not a sociopath? doesn?t that make it sound like? well, nevermind. Some highlights:

Because I am still just me.?
On awkward moments: ?My husband calls me the queen of awkward moments. Anything that can be made awkward, I will make it awkward.?
What she wrote in her high school yearbook: ?You were supposed to say what you would be doing in 10 years, and I said, ?I will be rich, famous, and married to a hot guy.? I guess I should have added a few more things.?
On having kids: ?I don?t feel old enough to have kids. I know I am mature. But being responsible for another human??

I know it?s weird (and I?m not a sociopath either!) but I totally relate to how she describes her personality. I?m getting more sentimental in my old age, but when I was younger, I hated to cry and I hated anything mushy or sentimental. I?m not big on hugging either, and I have the ?selfish only child? thing going on too. But I swear, I?m NOT A SOCIOPATH. Promise.
