Paula Abdul’s manager went to the LA Times, to tell them that it doesn’t look she will be returning to American Idol as a Judge because as of yet they have not have not received any proposal for her return.
“Very sadly, it does not appear that she’s going to be back on ‘Idol,’ ” David Sonenberg, Abdul’s manager, told The Times when contacted about the judge’s contract negotiations.
With auditions for the ninth season due to start Aug. 6, Sonenberg says he doesn’t even have a proposal for a new contract from FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the production companies behind the show. The new season is scheduled to premiere in January.
“I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful,” he said of the contract holdup. “I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven’t stepped up and said what they want to do.”
“She’s not a happy camper as a result of what’s going on. She’s hurt. She’s angry,” Sonenberg said. “I think at this point we’re going to be considering everything, including some kind of a competition show. She has tremendous ideas for a whole variety of shows.”
She is not the only one who is not a happy camper, I would be beyond upset to lose her on the show. There are one 3 people AI can’t live without and they are Simon Cowell, Ryan Seacrest and Paula Abdul. The rest of them could go bye-bye and I wouldn’t care. Would you still watch American Idol without the unpredictable Paula Abdul? She was the fun part because you never knew what she was going to be like and what she was going to say.

Paula Abdul, whose contract with "American Idol" expired at the end of last season, has confirmed to The Associated Press that she'll be back on the judges' panel again for the ninth season.
"I've been invited to stay the duration of the show, however long it lasts," she said, adding that she thought details of her contract would be negotiated before the start of the next season.
She added that she is a vital role on the judging panel. "I'm the nurturing mom, Simon's the disapproving dad, and Randy's the cool brother," she explained. "It's been an interesting journey. It's something that I'll always want to be a part of."
While Abdul was initially concerned about the addition of fourth judge Kara DioGuardi, she never thought the move signaled her exit.
"Whenever there is change, it's not about replacing anybody, it's about possibly moving on," she said. "I love the show, I do. I love what I do on the show, and I'm loving it more this season than ever. It's taken me awhile to get comfortable in my own skin with the show."
A spokesperson for the show told MTV News they could not confirm Paula's comments and would not comment on the status of Kara DioGuardi or Simon Cowell.
Back in May, Cowell assured fans that all the "Idol" judges will be back for the show's next season.
"Everyone's going to be back. Absolutely," Cowell said. "It's been honestly the best eight, nine years of my life. But I just believe sometimes everything has to come to an end."

Auditions for the ninth season of "American Idol" are getting set to begin on June 14 in Boston, at which point tens of thousands of sweet-voiced signers and publicity-desperate oddballs will begin lining up for a shot at stardom. However, there's no word yet if any of the judges not yet signed to contracts will have to audition as well.
As Paula Abdul admitted Thursday during an appearance on "Late Show with David Letterman," the pop singer and "Idol" judge is still uncertain if she'll be sitting behind the desk alongside Simon Cowell when the auditions start.
"I never said that," Abdul said in response to Dave's teasing statement that she won't be returning. "I just said that I'm not sure."
Abdul did reveal that's she in the middle of contract discussions. "I love my job," she said. "I do. I feel that I've had a really wonderful journey with the show. It's called 'negotiating.' "
Cowell reportedly has one year left on his "Idol" contract
and will be back for at least one more season. Newest judge Kara DioGuardi was only signed to a one-year contract at the start of season eight, and there has been much speculation as to whether she'll return for season nine. But Cowell has stated his conviction that all four judges will reprise their roles when the show begins airing next year.
On "Late Show," Abdul also addressed rumors that she doesn't get along well with DioGuardi. "Kara, she's great," she said. "And I don't understand why they do this to women. They love to pit women against each other. Maybe because it's sexier? I don't know. Maybe mud-wrestling? The whole thing. What they never expect in a million years was that 10 years ago Kara was my roommate.
"I was one of the first believers in her and we wrote a song together and it became one of the biggest songs," Abdul continued. "It's called 'Spinning Around.' The story of my life!"

LOS ANGELES — The "American Idol" red carpet has to be especially surreal for all the returning "Idol" contestants, kind of like the first day of high school. The vets from the early seasons are the seniors, and the season-eight kids are the nave freshmen.
For season-six runner-up Blake Lewis, it's that dynamic that brought him out for Wednesday night's (May 20) big finale. "I'm back here, hanging out with friends, seeing the new class," he laughed.
But fellow season-six finalist LaKisha Jones had her own analogy: "It's like a family reunion, without the barbecue."
Last year's runner-up, David Archuleta, was also back for the finale, even serenading MTV News with a taste of his song "Touch My Hand" on the red carpet. So what does it feel like to be back? "It's really different and really crazy," he said. "I was a lot busier last year than I am right now. ... Adam [Lambert] and Kris [Allen] are getting dragged all over the place."
A year later, Archie still thinks America made the right choice for last year's champion. "Cook did great the whole year, really," he said. "I think that's why he deserved to win. I never thought I was gonna win. I thought, 'I'm just happy I'm here. I don't know how I got here!' "
As for this year's final two, it was an Adam-leaning carpet (sorry about the loss, guys). But a few people did put their support behind eventual winner Kris, including last year's third-place finisher Syesha Mercado and season-three finalist Jon Peter Lewis, who admitted to backing Allen "just to be contrary."
For a few of the "Idol" alumni we caught up with, link type="content" id="1602350">fourth judge Kara DioGuardi isn't a new face. Season-three runner-up Diana DeGarmo talked about working with the singer/songwriter on a previous album and reaching out to her for some help on a future country LP. Jason Castro just collaborated with DioGuardi and is hitting the studio next month to record his debut album.
It was hard to get someone's attention amid all the red-carpet madness, but one thing stopped Paula Abdul dead in her tracks: mentioning her HSN jewelry line.
Our very own "Idol" expert, Jim Cantiello, congratulated the judge on the success of her new line, and she couldn't contain herself. "A complete sellout, every single item, for three hours," she bragged. "I couldn't even start explaining it, and it was sold out." So does she have any bling for Jim? "I have some in store for you, boy," Abdul teased. "I got a lot that you haven't seen. I may have to catch up with you later on."

Remember that interview with Ladies’ Home Journal where Paula Abdul admitted being addicted to pain killers and spending time in a rehab facility last year? Paula just issued a statement saying Ladies’ Home Journal made it all up.
“I want to make it perfectly clear to everyone that I have never been addicted to or abused drugs in my life,” Abdul said. “I have never been drunk. I have never entered a rehab or detox treatment center.
“I spent time hiking, bicycling, doing yoga and enjoying the spa. As anyone who has visited the La Costa Resort knows, it is a luxury hotel, not a rehab facility.”
I suggest from now on we begin agreeing with Paula whenever she says she’s never been drunk or did drugs. But do it in a sarcastic manner like “Suuuure, we believe you. Uh huh, never been drunk.” Sooner or later she’ll smash a bottle of Jim Beam over your head out of frustration at which point you can shout, “Ah-ha, gotcha!”

Shortly after admitting that a decade-long addiction to painkillers nearly killed her, "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul has retracted the claims. Abdul explained in an interview with Detroit radio station WKQI on Thursday morning that Ladies Home Journal got it wrong in its June cover story on her struggle with prescription meds.
"It was very stressful for me to hear that and to be quoted saying something I never said," Abdul told the show. "I've never checked into a rehab clinic. I've never been addicted or abused drugs, and I've never been addicted or abused alcohol. I've never even been drunk in my life." Abdul, who debuted her new single, "I'm Just Here for the Music," on Wednesday night's "Idol" elimination show, now claims that the magazine's report that she checked into La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, to finally shake her dependence on pain medication was a misunderstanding.
In the Ladies Home Journal interview, Abdul said the addiction caused some of her unusual past behavior. "I could have killed myself. ... Withdrawal — it's the worst thing. ... I was freezing cold, then sweating hot, then chattering and in so much pain, it was excruciating. But at my very core, I did not like existing the way I had been."
Abdul told Mojo that she was simply relaxing at La Costa, not being treated for addiction. "It's a spa," she said. "I was there for almost three days having fun doing spa stuff. It's not a clinic. It's not a detox place. It's a luxurious spa. It's like taking a mini vacation. I just wanted to chill out and get massages and maybe a manicure and pedicure."
According to E! Online, Abdul, in a statement released on Thursday, reiterated that she's never been addicted to drugs or entered rehab, adding that she spent three days at La Costa, not 30, as reported in the magazine.
A representative for the magazine told E!, "We stand by our reporting and are happy that Paula decided to share her journey with us."

For someone whose present career is based on critiquing live singing performances, it's ironic that when judge Paula Abdul took the stage on "American Idol" Wednesday night May 6 to debut her new single, "I'm Just Here for the Music," the 46-year-old former pop star did not look like she was actually singing.
Abdul, who recently helped choreograph a disco number for the show's finalists, definitely showed off her still very nimble footwork during the performance of the up-tempo, Britney-like dance pop tune. But it appeared that despite wearing a headset, Abdul was not singing live. Earlier this season, it was reported that the finalists often lip-synch their group performances at the top of the show, though that seems not to have been the case as the number of contenders has been whittled down.
The former Laker Girl — who, we were told, has sold more than 50 million albums — took the stage in a daringly short black-and-silver mini-dress, fending off the flashbulbs of paparazzi photographers as she posed at the top of the glowing staircase. Her vocals heavily Auto-Tuned, Abdul sashayed down the steps as a group of young male dancers caressed her hands and helped her down the incline.
Mouthing the vocals, "I'm just here for the music/ I really didn't mean to turn you on/ Boy, you know I like the way you move it," Abdul tossed off some of her signature hip-swiveling kicks and head rolls as the male dancers lifted her up and helped her move across the fog-shrouded stage. At one point, in addition to her headset microphone, Abdul was also mouthing the words into a bouncing, bejeweled microphone.
As one of the dancers held up and then ripped in half a prize-fight-style tabloid cover pitting Abdul against frequent sparring partner Simon Cowell, the singer writhed on the floor in the background as fabric "flames" shot up around her. The routine ended with Abdul diving into the outstretched arms of six dancers, then being flipped over by one of them while a rain of sparks showered the stage.
As the paparazzi dancers surrounded her again and asked, "Will you going to be back next season?," Abdul's mic appeared to switch on. She breathed heavily and answered, "Gentlemen, I'm just here for the music. Good night!" She then walked off as the stage lit up with the message, "Live! Love! Sing! Dance!"
According to Entertainment Weekly, the song is reportedly a remake of a leaked, but never-released tune from Kylie Minogue's 2003 Body Language album. A spokesperson for "Idol" did not return requests for comment on whether Abdul was singing live during the segment, which EW said had been pretaped.

Paula Abdul sure is easily confused. Two days ago Ladies Home Journal had an interview with her in which she talked about her painkiller addiction and dealing with the withdrawals. A week and a half before that spoke to Nightline and claimed she?d never even been drunk, let alone been addicted to pills. She?s also claimed she suffers from a neurological disorder called complex regional pain syndrome, and has at times said she has to take painkillers to deal with it ? which is understandable. Except when she claims she?s never even taken painkillers.
Now Paula is once again issuing a bunch of confusing denials.
Paula Adbul called into Detriot’s Mojo In The Morning radio show Thursday morning and — in a stunning statement — said she never told Ladies Home Journal that she had been addicted to painkillers.
Calling it “stressful”, Abdul says she was taken out of context in the article.
Abdul says — despite what the magazine wrote — she’s never been addicted to painkillers or abused booze. She says she also never checked into a rehab clinic. What makes this so surprising is that the article includes direct quotes from Paula to the contrary.
The singer, 46, didn’t respond to a question about whether she would sue Ladies Home Journal, but did say her camp would issue a statement about the matter later Thursday.

All of this leads me to believe that Paula either has some mental issues, some memory issues, or (most likely) has indeed been intoxicated when she?s made some of these claims. How else can she explain clearly being under the influence of some sort of substance, while also claiming she?s never taken a single painkiller? Ladies Home Journal isn?t exactly known as a fabricator of quotes. That means within the span of two weeks Paula told Nightline she?d never been drunk or taken painkillers, and then talked about her battle with addiction to Ladies Home Journal. Either Paula?s on something, or she has some serious issues with the truth.

In a shocking new interview, Paula Abdul reveals that her reliance on painkillers got so bad she could have died.
Abdul, 46, was diagnosed with “reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome” in [2005], a chronic neurological disorder that causes severe pain. Abdul wore a patch that delivered a pain medication about 80 times more potent than morphine and took a nerve medication to relieve her symptoms. Sometimes, she adds, she also took a muscle relaxer.
But the pain got so bad it that it often left her sleepless and caused her to “get weird.” A combination of these factors prompted many fans to believe that the American Idol judge was high on the air.
Determined to overcome her habit, she checked into the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., last Thanksgiving. “I could have killed myself,” Abdul tells the magazine.
