Here are some photos of Sarah Jessica Parker and Andy Cohen at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in NYC over the weekend. These photos are notable for the fashion (which is why I?m covering them) but they?re also notable because this was what SJP and Andy did instead of attending tonight?s Met Gala. SJP always goes to the Met Gala, and Andy is always her date. I don?t think Matthew Broderick gives a sh-t about any of this, and SJP likely has more fun at these events when she goes with Andy. I feel like they bring out their worst Mean Girl antics in each other though. In any case, Andy Cohen told Entertainment Tonight that they aren?t going to the Met Gala this year because they both have to work.
Anyway, let?s talk fashion SJP wore this insane Elie Saab gown to the GLAAD event. The thing is, I love the fabric and the colors. I absolutely adore these shades of blue, and the fabric looks rich and beautiful. But of course I feel like SJP put her stink on it with those sleeves and with that styling. The sleeves make this look like a costume, and the styling is so blah. Wow, a center part on flat-ironed hair? Never seen that before, SJP. The shower puff used as a hat? How avant-garde! This is what we get because we?re not getting SJP-Met Gala photos.

| Sarah Jessica Parker wore a taffeta monstrosity to the NYC Ballet's Fall Gala | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sarah Jessica Parker has long been a supporter of ballet, and she currently serves as vice-president to the New York City Ballet. She often attends the big opening events for the NYCB, and last night was their big Fall Gala. SJP was so thrilled, she brought two dates her husband Matthew Broderick and her BFF Andy Cohen.
For the life of me, I cannot find the designer ID for SJP?s taffeta monstrosity. Considering the NYCB hired Gareth Pugh, Alberta Ferretti and Giles Deacon to design the costumes for the fall performances, my guess is that her ballgown is by one of those designers. The taffeta itself isn?t flat-out horrible, even though I really don?t like the whole ?taffeta comforter, but in mullet dress form? vibe it gives off. What really kills me is the sleeves and shoulders. IT IS TOO MUCH. To have those architectural shoulder poofs AND sheer sleeves AND taffeta cuffs. It?s too much. Whoever designed this dress is doing too much.
Here?s Gwendoline Christie in silk pajamas, probably designed by her boyfriend Giles Deacon.
And here?s Kelly Ripa. Her normal dress soothes my eyes.

Here are some photos of Sarah Jessica Parker at the 44th Deauville American Film Festival, where she was promoting Here and Now, her latest film. Call me crazy, but this is the best SJP has looked in years, right? Good makeup, her hair isn?t annoying me and she just looks great overall. Very suspicious! Ha. Anyway, while SJP was in Deauville, she ended up reminiscing about Sex and the City, because it would not surprise me at all if she was still trying to make a third film happen. Only SJP think Sex and the City doesn?t hold up, because of the lack of diversity.
She thinks the original SATC looks ?tone-deaf. You couldnt make it today because of the lack of diversity on screen. I personally think it would feel bizarre.
The idea of rebooting it with a new cast: ?I dont know that you could do it with a different cast. I think thats radical and interesting, but you cant pretend its the same. It wouldnt be a reboot as I understand it. If you came back and did six episodes, youd have to acknowledge the city is not hospitable to those same ideas. Youd look like you were generationally removed from reality, but it would be certainly interesting to see four diverse women experiencing NYC their way. ? It would be interesting and very worthwhile exploring, but it couldnt be the same.?
Thoughts on Me Too: Parker prefaced her comments by acknowledging she might ?get in trouble for this,? calling it a post-feminist movement. ?I take comfort in that movements take time, and I dont see it as a feminist movement. I look at it as a humanist movement, because its not just about women in the workplaces, its [about] the LGBTQ community.?
[From The Hollywood Reporter]
I have complicated thoughts on what she says about Sex and the City. On one hand, she?s right that there are parts of the show that seem so dated and tone-deaf, absolutely, and not just about diversity. On the other hand, the second film was the most tone-deaf nonsense I?ve ever seen in my life. It was one of the biggest cringes I?ve ever had throughout a film. The second film makes the TV show look classic and ageless. I also think it?s weird to talk about SATC like it?s so far removed from everything that?s happening now the show ended in 2004. The second movie came out in 2010. In the years since, there are still plenty of TV shows and movies that are just about white people, so this whole ?it could never be made today? argument falls flat.
As for what she says about feminist movement versus humanist movement? I get what she?s trying to say. But I just feel like that kind of word-parsing completely misses the point of what the movement is really about.

| Sarah Jessica Parker wore a bad Monse, says SATC 3 movie isn't happening now | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick at the fall fashion gala for the New York City Ballet (at Lincoln Center). SJP wore her new favorite label, Monse, and while I?m 100% behind the idea of the dress, the execution was? not great? Like, it has so much going for it: great color, great design, sparkly, interesting in motion and in photos. But the construction in the midsection is so bad that it?s throwing everything off. When you make a tiny, fit woman like SJP look bulky, that?s pretty bad.
Anyway, did you know that they really were going ahead with making Sex and the City 3? It had been long-rumored that almost everyone from the original series and movies wanted to come back for one more (terrible) movie, and apparently they had the script and everything. And now it?s not happening:
Sarah Jessica Parker has some sad news for Sex and the City fans. Parker, who played sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw in the iconic series, squashed rumors that a third movie was in the works.
?It?s over,? the 52-year-old told Extra on Thursday. ?We?re not doing it.?
Rumors that Carrie, Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) were reuniting for a new film have long swirled ? and the cast had teased that they would be open to doing another film. However, this time it seems that the door is closed on the possibility of a third installment.
?I?m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story,? Parker continued. ?It?s not just disappointing that we don?t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.?
[From People]
This news actually made my day! I know SJP is sad about it, but seriously? we did not need a third SATC movie, for the love of God. The first two were deplorable and they came close to ruining the original TV series for me. As for why SATC 3 is no longer happening? the Daily Mail says it?s because Kim Cattrall made too many demands – go here to read the DM piece, which is not complimentary at all to Cattrall. I mean, I get it – if all of the women had been on board, it would have been a great payday for them. But I also have to give Cattrall a slow-clap because maybe she sort of realized that they didn?t need to beat the dead horse (so to speak).

| Sarah Jessica Parker in J Mendel at the People's Choice Awards: terrible or unique' | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sarah Jessica Parker is still dressing like Carrie Bradshaw as many of you have pointed out to me. I don’t think this is working for her, nor is her very dated makeup. From far away you might assume this bronze J Mendel dress would be ok without the glove things, but look at the bust and the weird diagonal ruffle skirt. At least she didn’t look as squinty last night as she did at the Golden Globes I guess. Like most of the people who showed up last night, Parker won an award. She got Favorite Premium Series Actress for The Divorce which – is anyone watching that? I have barely heard anything about that show. Her speech was really bad, like Tom Hiddleston level bad, in that she used a bunch of $10 words to say “thanks to my fans for sticking with me through the years.” I’m embedding that below. She speaks like Renee Zellweger writes. Something nice – she looks really happy and relaxed.
Victoria Justice was in Yousef Al Jasmi and I’m including her because she manages to make the lousiest, tackiest dresses look ok. I don’t know how she does it, but SJP needs some of that to rub off on her. Maybe it’s Justice’s styling. The beadwork on this is impressive, especially considering that someone probably created this by hand and had plenty of time to reflect on how gaudy the gold and silver ball sequins would look together.
Ali Larter was in Zac Posen and I know some people find his designs boring but I really appreciate his classic gowns. He knows how to edit well and I find this little red batik-print gown so lovely, with thoughtful details like a tiered bell skirt that isn’t too big and a split bust that fits perfectly.
Ruby Rose presented favorite song along with her costar Larter. That went to Justin Timberlake in what should be the only award he’ll get for that Trolls earworm. Host Joel McHale introduced Rose and Larter with the quip “Please welcome from Resident Evil, The Final Chapter – yeah right,” which just made me laugh out loud. Rose was killing it in a bright orange Veronica Beard pantsuit and goth styling. This was so striking.

| Sarah Jessica Parker in bridal Vera Wang at the Golden Globes: crazy-looking or cool? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Nominee Sarah Jessica Parker had one of the most bizarre looks at the Globes. The dress itself, a Vera Wang bridal with very long sleeves, is an interesting choice and isn’t terrible on its own. It’s just a v-neck bridal gown with some sleeves tacked on like they’re an afterthought. Her styling is just so unfortunate. After the camera panned to her during her category (she was nominated for Divorce) many people were tweeting about her look. She had a crown of extensions made into milkmaid braids and eye makeup which made her look squinty and tired. Her makeup usually looks like this and it’s really dated. I felt bad for her.
Hailee Steinfeld also wore bridal Vera Wang, but her dress was a bit more custom than Parker’s. It’s lilac-colored first of all and there are actual separate ruffle shelves above each boob. I can’t say I’ve ever seen that concept on a dress before, and for good reason. I do like the slouchy sleeves and shoulder cutouts, but that’s very on trend this season. From some angles that looks like a jeweled neckline, we saw a few of those last night, but I think it’s a very well-fitted necklace. The mesh bodice part of the gown is unique to Hailee’s dress, that wasn’t part of the original gown.
Oh hi Chrissy Teigen in Marchesa. What do you call that thing at her waist? It’s like a peplum on steroids. Would this be ok without all the lace and ruffles? I am really asking because I?m still not sure. Chrissy, John Legend and Anthony Anderson kind of sat on the steps in front of Ryan Seacrest and conducted their interview from there. It was a nice change to some of the awkwardness actually.

| Sarah Jessica Parker has a crazy theory about Sex and the City | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

You would think with Sarah Jessica Parker being such a busy lady, what with starring on the HBO series Divorce and launching her own book publishing label, she wouldn’t have time to sit around and entertain wild theories. Well, she’s managed to carve out some free time and has come up with a whopper about the show that made her a star. No, not Square Pegs – although that was my favorite show starring SJP.
On Chris Hardwick’s Nerdist poscast, the 51-year-old actress mused that her Sex and the City cohorts Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda, played by Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon, were the products of Sarah’s writer character Carrie’s imagination. She told Chris:
?I used to wonder if Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda were real. That that wasn?t just her column.?
?They?re such perfectly archetypal characters. So you?re writing a column about sexual politics and observations of female-male, primarily, heterosexual relationships, so you?re picking one type. You?re saying, ?This type is this and this,? and then you complicate it more, like any good writer does. So I?m not entirely sure they are real…What we are seeing isn?t necessarily what happened in New York.?
[From Nerdist/NY Mag]
So, basically, Carrie just had a lot of imaginary friends? I always thought the characters, especially Samantha, were over the top, which does lend some credence to Sarah’s theory. If the characters were figments of Carrie’s imagination, that would definitely explain the second SATC movie.
The SJP news I’m more excited about from this week was talk of a sequel to Hocus Pocus. This is something I can definitely get behind. On Watch What Happens Live last week, Andy Cohen asked Sarah about the possibility of getting together with Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy to reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters, she replied, “I would love that. I think we?ve all been fairly vocal about being very keen, but that hasn?t created any groundswell of movement.” Oh, please make this happen.

| Sarah Jessica Parker in a rhinestone?d Dolce & Gabbana: awful, cheap or fine? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I haven?t spent much time discussing Sarah Jessica Parker?s big return to HBO. Probably because I think her new show, Divorce, looks really? privileged? Like, the show is about two rich white people getting a divorce in New York ? although they own multiple homes ? and all of their friends are white and rich and there are so many emotions! Like, if this was done as a glitzy soap opera, I might understand the vibe. But there?s an earnestness to it, like we?re supposed to really, really care. Here?s the trailer:
Anyway, the premiere was held last night in NYC and Sarah Jessica wore this Dolce & Gabbana dress which is just? bad. Cheap. Awful. Tacky. Ridiculous. Don?t get me wrong, I enjoy SJP’s transition from 30-something fashionista (the Sex & the City days) to a more mature fashion matron at the age of 51. She still has fun with fashion and you can tell that she still loves getting dressed up and all of that. But this looks like a cheap party dress that has cheap rhinestone jewelry glued across the bust. It?s AWFUL!
I?m also including some photos of SJP with her husband, SJP with her SATC buddies Cynthia Nixon and Mario Cantone, SJP?s costar Thomas Haden Church and? Jerry Seinfeld and his wife Jessica. Because I know you guys LOVE Jessica Seinfeld.

| Sarah Jessica Parker in Narciso Rodriguez at NYCB gala: cheap or cute? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from the New York City Ballet?s fall gala on Tuesday evening. Sarah Jessica Parker is on the board of the NYCB, she?s always been a huge supporter of NYCB, and she always attends their seasonal galas. For this gala, SJP chose to wear what looks like a custom gown from Narciso Rodriguez. Narciso is also one of the premiere designers who made costumes for the ballerinas, so most of the women attending the gala wanted to wear Rodriguez (or the other designers). What surprises me here is that Matthew Broderick attended with SJP. It feels like these two rarely do red carpets these days.
As for the dress? I think it?s fug. Go ahead and yell at me! But the satin is too heavy on top, and too cheap-looking on the bottom. Plus, I simply have an aversion to the combination of really dark fabric on top and light fabric on the bottom. It just seems lopsided to me, and this look in particular seems like Rodriguez combined two dress ideas to make one fug combo.
Julianna Marguiles also wore Narciso Rodriguez. Her dress is a lot prettier, right? It suits her. And her husband is hot.
And here?s Diane Kruger in a dress from Giambattista Valli Couture Winter 2016 collection. This is the worst one, right? It looks? I don?t even know, like I don?t have the words. It looks like a child?s dress got mixed into the Christmas decorations box and Kruger decided to go with it.

| Sarah Jessica Parker: 'I am not a feminist. I don't think I qualify' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
|
Buckle up. There?s going to be a lot of yelling at and around Sarah Jessica Parker today. SJP covers the September issue of Marie Claire to promote her new HBO show Divorce (which looks awful). To shill for the show, SJP decided to share some thoughts she has about feminism. She?s very much AGAINST feminism. You know why? Because she?s all about equality. And she thinks feminism is all about separating people and being unequal, I guess? This is absolutely one of the stupidest things I?ve ever heard from any celebrity woman on the topic of feminism.
On marriage and divorce: “For me, it’s really the investment in the other person. And it’s the expectations you have. They change and you get smarter, and maybe you think those expectations aren’t worth striving for with this person, and that’s when people bail.”
On her new show being compared to Sex and the City: “I love the way the pilot episode opens because everyone’s asking, “Oh, is this a spin-off of Sex and the City?” And the moment that the opening scene ends, and you see her give him the finger, you know it’s very different.”
On being a feminist: “I am not a feminist. I don’t think I qualify. I believe in women and I believe in equality, but I think there is so much that needs to be done that I don’t even want to separate it anymore. I’m so tired of separation. I just want people to be treated equally.”
On the gender pay gap: “I would like all of that nonsense to end. I would like women to get paid for the value of their contributions, not by old-fashioned ideas about gender.”
On other actresses speaking out in Hollywood: “Listen, Jennifer Lawrence deserves every bit as much as her male counterpart. It’s indisputable. Emma Watson is an amazing young woman, and it’s important for her to talk about women’s issues. She isn’t concerned about herself. Women are paying the bills, getting it done, getting the kids here and there. The more we address that, we are all going to be better.”
On her children: “I’m so desperate for my children to be curious people. I just want them to be happy and curious.”
[From Marie Claire]
?I don?t think I qualify? and then in the rest of the interview, she espouses feminist talking points pushed by the new wave of Hollywood feminists. Why do certain women think that feminism ?separates? people? When did that talking point enter the public discourse? When did grown-ass women start to think, ?I can?t call myself a feminist because that would be a separation from society, or a separation from a larger conversation about feminist ideals???? Calling yourself a feminist isn?t a separation from anything. Self-identifying as a feminist is literally the bare minimum of the larger conversation about equality.
