She's certainly easy on the eyes - and Friday night (August 31) was no exception as Salma Hayek showed off her breathtaking beauty while partaking in the Venice Film Festival festivities in Venice, Italy.
Adorned in a black cap sleeved Gucci gown with a plunging neckline, the 45-year-old big screen stunner arrived at Hotel Cipriani on the arm of her tuxedo clad husband, Francois Henri Pinault, for the Gucci Award for Women in Cinema ceremony.
As for her appearance, Miss Hayek joined Creative Director of Gucci Frida Giannini onstage while presenting the Gucci Award for Women in Cinema to this year's recipient, editor Thelma Schoonmaker.
Aside from her Venice doings, Salma recently caught criticism for comments she made regarding her culture as of late, as she said, "Honestly, I hardly had any memories of what it is to be Mexican. My life is completely different now."
Amongst the many negative reactions, an unhappy blogger fired back at the Academy Award-nominated actress, posting, "What did Salma mean by basically saying she forgot what it's like to be a Mexican woman? That she's too French and rich for our blood?," which alludes to Hayek's marriage to her French billionaire husband.

Before we got to the controversy, let?s just take a moment and look at Salma Hayek?s pictorial for the September issue of Vogue Germany. The photos themselves aren?t anything amazing, I don?t think ? it seems like such a bored and boring editorial. That being said, Salma?s body is CRAY in these photos. Like, she?s an embarrassment of riches with that body and that face.
Now, on to the controversy. In the interview with Vogue Germany, Salma was discussing her supporting role in Oliver Stone?s Savages. In the film, Salma plays some kind of Mexican drug lord ? her character orders Benicio del Toro to kidnap and torture Blake Lively?s character, I believe, and while Salma?s scenes probably weren?t filmed in Mexico (I think the whole thing was shot in and around LA), apparently Salma felt like it was the first time in a while that she was playing a ?Mexican character?. Salma is half-Mexican, you know, and she was raised in Mexico. Which makes her comments to Vogue Germany? a little weird:
“I am proud to have been involved in this film with all these great actors,? Hayek told Vogue Deutsch (as translated from German to English). ?Honestly, I hardly had any memories of what it is to be Mexican. My life is completely different now.”
“It?s true that we have a problem in Mexico and it is important to talk about it. However, the U.S. is playing a major role, even if they claim it is purely a Mexican problem. More than 30,000 people have been killed in the past few years in this drug war — mainly by arms that come from the U.S.?
?My life is completely different. It?s great thanks to my daughter Valentina and my husband.?
?It?s much easier to get an Oscar than a great husband. My career is not as important as everything else I have achieved. If they offered me to change my life in exchange for being the most famous and the highest-earning actress, I wouldn?t accept.?

Do you see where there?s a problem? I will spell it out for you: ?Honestly, I hardly had any memories of what it is to be Mexican. My life is completely different now.? I understood what she was trying to say ? that she?s far-removed from the world in which she grew up, having lived in LA and Paris for the better part of two decades. But Salma?s words are being taken as? well, something altogether Goop-ier. (Sidenote: Can?t you just imagine Gwyneth Paltrow saying something like, ?Honestly, I hardly had any memories of what it is to be American??).
Hispanic blogs are criticizing Salma for her statements, with one blog, Guanabee, asking: “What did Salma mean by basically saying she forgot what it’s like to be a Mexican woman? That she’s too French and rich for our blood?” It?s a thing now. And so Salma?s rep went to E! News and claimed that “the whole thing has been lost in translation” and “Salma is not disparaging Mexico in any way.” Apparently, this was the original quote, per Ingrid Sischy (who wrote the Vogue article):
“I am proud to be in this movie with all these great actors. The truth is that I almost have to try and remember what it’s like to be Mexican. My life is different now. You cannot make yourself represent something. You have to be an individual, by being the best you can be.”

I really don?t see a huge different? ?The truth is that I almost have to try and remember what it’s like to be Mexican. My life is different now.? Versus: ?Honestly, I hardly had any memories of what it is to be Mexican. My life is completely different now.? What?s the big diff? I?m not seeing it. If anything, I think the clarifying quote might be slightly MORE offensive. It makes Salma sound like she really has to put some effort into remembering a life beyond her gilded walls.
Incidentally, I think the real money quote is ?It?s much easier to get an Oscar than a great husband.? O RLY? Says the woman who does not have an Oscar, and whose husband just settled a giant child support case for the kid he fathered while Salma was pregnant. Sure.

The always stunning Salma Hayek got all dolled up for a night out at Ink restaurant with her billionaire husband Francois-Henri Pinault and a couple of friends in West Hollywood, California on Thursday (August 9).
Although she usually appears pretty confident, the "Savages" actress seemed a little shy in front of the shutterbugs, using her hand to cover up her cleavage from her plunging blue dress as she climbed into the sporty two-sear car parked on the curb.
Salma is currently working on her latest big-screen role in "Grown Ups 2" where she stars alongside Adam Sandler, Taylor Lautner, Andy Samberg and Chris Rock.
As a sequel to the 2010 comedy "Grown Ups" the film is said to follow a group of childhood friends who reunite years later and is expected to hit theaters on July 12th, 2013.

She?s been on a non-stop promotional tour as of late, and Salma Hayek's latest stop was at ?Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? last night (June 27).
The ?Fools Rush In? actress was in the house to plug her new movie ?Savages? which also stars Taylor Kitsch and Blake Lively.
During the course of their conversation, Salma confessed to feeling completely worn out due to her busy schedule, although Fallon affirmed that she still looked amazing.
And when the conversation turned to Jimmy?s hair possibly being a toupee, Ms. Hayek ended up grabbing it and messing it up to prove that it?s all real.

Making a chic arrival into the Big Apple, Salma Hayek was spotted touching down at JFK Airport on Tuesday night (June 26).
The stunning brunette looked flawless in perfectly fitted jeans and a black top as she made her way through the terminal showing off her naturally beautiful sans makeup face.
Switching to career news, the trailer for Hayek?s new flick ?Here Comes the Boom? has just been released on the web!
The clip, which was first debuted by Fandango, gives fans a first look at what they can expect from the Frank Coraci helmed comedy which follows a high school biology teacher who moonlights as a mixed-martial arts fighter in an effort to raise money for the school?s music program.
Also starring Kevin James and Henry Winkler, the fun-loving film is set to hit theaters October 12th, but you can catch the trailer in the player below right now!

Here are the rest of the photos from last night?s LA premiere of Savages ? we already covered John Travolta and Blake Lively. Let?s start with Salma Hayek in green, beaded Gucci. Does anyone else think it?s weird that Blake Lively did NOT wear Gucci and Salma did? Blake just got a contract to represent Gucci?s latest perfume. So why is Salma in Gucci? I don?t even know. I do like the dress, it?s a beautiful color and a beautiful design. But Salma?s hair and makeup are ROUGH. Salma is a gorgeous woman with beautiful skin and hair ? why she chose to style herself to look so haggard is beyond me. If I had her hair, I would do something more with it besides pulling it straight back in a busted Croydon facelift. CB claims that Salma looked much better in motion, during her red carpet interviews. Maybe.
Taylor Kitsch, another Savages star, looking incredibly boring. It?s not his suit (although the suit doesn?t help) ? it?s HIM. He?s boring.
Mary-Louise Parker was the premiere for no reason (other than she probably just wanted to see the movie). I love her so much. She looks like a demented fairy here.
Helen Hunt in an LBD. She?s not in the movie either. It?s nice to see her out and about, though.
Benicio del Toro looks like he?s about to gut-punch someone. Why so angry?
OMG Demian Bichir. So hot. I?m consistently unimpressed by his girlfriend, though. But? at least he always brings her to these events. That?s nice.

Hard at work with her mommy duties as well as her newest film, Salma Hayek was seen arriving on the set of "Grown Ups 2" in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday (June 12).
The Mexican/American stunner looked beautiful as always in an all black ensemble that included a pea coat and tan Ugg bots while her adorable four-year-old looked perfect in a floral Pink dress as the two walked hand-in-hand.
Speaking of her little one, in a recent interview with InStyle magazine, the July cover girl opened up about her appreciative life as a mom. Gushing to the publication, the 45-year-old star explained that she can always count on Valentina to keep her in good spirits adding, "She always makes me laugh.?
Describing a recent morning, Salma said she had made a tired return back to LA after an overnight flight from Paris when, ?Valentina jumped on my bed and hugged me, and I go, ?What are you doing? You scared me!??
Continuing on, "She started giggling and said to me, ?You desperately needed my energy.? I was so surprised she said that. A 4-year-old!? ?And she was so right."
