| Salma Hayek: Mexican 'skilled farmers' would love seasonal migrant work | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Salma Hayek?s new movie, How to be a Latin Lover, looks really dumb. But that?s what she?s promoting these days, so we?re getting a fresh promotional tour from Salma. Instead of just talking endlessly about how she doesn?t believe in Botox, Salma has decided to use her position as Mexican-American woman to talk sh-t about Donald Trump. I?m here for it, honestly. During the campaign, Salma openly despised Trump to the point where she didn?t even want to say his name. Nowadays, she?s focused on Trump?s wishy-washy desire to build a bigly, beautiful border wall. She gave an exclusive interview to People Magazine about just that:
The border wall: ?It?s a dumb solution and proposition. Whether it gets built, whether it doesn?t get built, nobody has given you a real budget on it ? we do know it?s billions and billions of dollars. We?re talking about who?s going to pay for it and the wall is not the solution. How is this wall that is immense going to go through the many rivers? Are you going to build dams? Are you going to go up and down the mountains??
The real issue is immigration reform. ?Sometimes we talk about the wrong part of the issues. And that can be a trick, talking about the wrong part of the issue and not dealing with it, or talking about the wrong issues, which distract from other issues ? we have to be careful not to fall in that trap. We have to talk about smart reforms because it?s very necessary. There are smarter ways we can come up with to control immigration, and do immigration reform that is much more beneficial for America. For example, there?s a lot of work for farmers in this country and there are not enough farmers for all the work there is. A lot of the people that do not want to be involved in the drug industry of Mexico are very skilled farmers; they do not want to participate in that so some of them are here. The people that come, they don?t necessarily want to stay ? they would be happy to come and work at the time of the harvest and go back to their country. America can benefit from these expert workers and they can pay taxes that can benefit America.?
[From People]
I mean, obviously I agree with what she?s saying, although I?m sort of confused by the idea of migrant workers who will happily leave the US when the harvest season is over. Perhaps I don?t fully understand the economics and reality of seasonal migrant work, but Salma seems to be oversimplifying? I wish she would also talk about the utter inhumanity and stupidity of the Attorney General?s war with sanctuary cities. Or she could talk about Ted Cruz?s El Chapo Act, wherein the US would use drug cartel money to build the border wall. Salma should give more political interviews, basically.
Also, have you seen the trailer for Beatriz at Dinner? I think this looks so good.

Salma Hayek still hasn?t said anything following the LA Times article in which Salma was widely called out for not listening to Jessica Williams. We discussed the situation yesterday – Salma and Jessica were part of a women-in-film discussion at Sundance last week and what was supposed to be a conversation about ladies in general ended up getting messy, as Jessica Williams tried to express how dangerous it feels for her, a black woman, to merely exist in this country right now. Salma talked over her, called her ?baby? and basically dismissed her. Salma still hasn?t said anything about it.
But Salma is talking about her family and how she has a great life. Perhaps that?s what she can tell all of the worried black women of America: why not just marry a billionaire and live in France, right? To be fair, Salma said all of this to People Magazine before the LAT piece came out. But she?s still pretty annoying here.
Her husband Franois-Henri Pinault: ?I married the right guy. That is probably the most important thing. We support each other in everything we do. We want the other one to strive. Makes you happy when the other one strives. And you know what, we don?t have a very strong social life, because we really like to spend time together. So we do spend a lot of quality time together.?
Being named a ?best dressed woman?: ?I feel a very strong relief. Because my husband is in the fashion business. I?m so happy I made it to the hundred and something. I think it?s going to make him proud. I think of myself as bipolar when it comes to [style]. Because if I?m going to come tonight and find a dress, but then, when nobody?s looking, you?d be shocked, I?d be happy taking a shower, and then just changing into pajamas.?
Husbands take over everything: ?Sometimes the hardest things to balance is motherhood with marriage,? she said, adding that husbands can be a little overwhelming. ?They take over, oh my God, they take over everything. You just have to remind yourself that you have that other big kid too to look after. He looks like he?s self-sufficient, but they need the tender loving care too. You have to keep reminding yourself.?
Time away from family: ?When it comes to my career, what I do is I only do roles that are shot in a way that I?m never more than two weeks away from my family.?
[From People]
Salma has Real People Problems, just like you! She too has a demanding husband who needs her attention almost as much as their child. I absolutely loathe when women talk about their husbands this way, if you couldn?t tell. But I generally dislike the ?boys will be boys? and ?men need to be trained? and ?I?m married to the biggest kid of all? mentalities. That?s probably why I?m not married, right? As for the real state of Salma?s marriage? we?ve debated this before, but I still believe that she?s just a billionaire?s trophy wife and she just fronts like her marriage is really no different than anyone else?s. But whatever.

Salma Hayek attended the SAG Awards as a presenter, because that?s what Salma does at this point – she shows up at awards shows to present awards. Salma chose this yellow and Pink Gucci, which? let?s be honest, it?s terrible. Over the years, I?ve come to understand that I have a general aversion to yellow dresses, but seriously, this would not have been a good dress in another color anyway. But in yellow? No. It looked like a mix between a cheap bridesmaid?s dress and a quinceanera dress.
But really, I wanted to talk about this article in the Los Angeles Times – go here to read it. Salma attended a lunch celebrating women in film at Sundance. Women like Shirley MacLaine, Alfre Woodard and Jessica Williams were in attendance. The conversation quickly turned to politics and race, and when Jessica tried to speak about how she was perceived as a black woman – in life and in the industry – it really felt like Salma was talking down to her. Like, Salma tried to shut Jessica down when Jessica wanted to expand the conversation about how just being trans or just being black in our society can?t be dealt with by just thinking positive. It was a complicated conversation, which is why I?m not going to excerpt from it, but you should absolutely read the piece to see the context. People reacted on Twitter:
What Salma Hayek did was exactly what white women tend to do in these conversations. She framed races as "divisive" & shut Williams down.

| Salma Hayek: 'I am entering my fifties so your body confidence isn't that good' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Salma Hayek at the LA premiere of Septembers of Shiraz earlier this week. Salma wore a tiger-striped Saint Laurent slip dress which? do you guys think there?s an age limit on animal prints? Or is it just an issue of taste? I?ve seen some stunning animal-print clothing that could be worn at any age, and then sometimes (like right now), I?ll see an animal print on a nearly-50 woman and think, ?mutton dressed as lamb.? Salma looks great for 49, totally and completely. But this looks sort of tacky on her, that?s all I?ll say.
Speaking of Salma?s age, she gave an interesting interview to InStyle UK this week about how it feels to be turning 50 this year (she turns 50 in September). Salma has a history of giving updates on her personal aging process and she has a history of doling out aging ?advice? too. Some of the advice is bonkers, but some of it is? okay. I sort of enjoy how honest Salma is in this interview:
How her body confidence has changed as she approaches 50: ?That made me insecure too? especially when it?s new it?s like (shrugs shoulders). Well I am entering my fifties so your body confidence isn?t that good. I think it depends on the day, for everybody, there?s some days you say, ‘this is it,’ and you love it. Then there are days when you go, ‘this can not be it! Is this really it?’ So I think it?s up and down all the time!
How to become a queen in everyday life: ?You have to get up and become your own work of art; from the moment you put yourself together. Not that I do it! I am quite lazy in the queen department. But celebrate who you are and celebrate life and know that this is your experience.
[From InStyle UK]
Last year, Salma was proudly proclaiming about how she was 48 and had no need for Botox, peels or fillers. The comments on that post were scary, because some of you magnificent over-50 ladies were like *sepulchral voice* ?JUST YOU WAIT.? As in, 50 is when things really start to drop off. And it seems like Salma is feeling that too. What a difference a year makes, right? One second you?re smugly declaring that you have no need for any cosmetic adjustments and then suddenly you?re researching neck-skin surgery online. I have no answers, ladies! I?m more than a decade younger than Salma and I?m already starting to look at various parts of my body like, ?Oh, that?s never going to be firm again, I guess.?

Here’s Salma Hayek dressed up like one of the Flintstones for some reason at the Septembers of Shiraz premiere in LA. And I guess I still don’t understand fashion, because I don’t get this dress. That said,I definitely wouldn’t mind a little Bamm-Bamm with Salma, if you catch my drift… (I’m talking about sex, justso […]

| Salma Hayek in custom Gucci at the British Fashion Awards: saloon-girl fug? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?m splitting up the photos from last night?s British Fashion Awards into two posts. So if you don?t see the person you wanted to discuss, they are probably on the second post. Just FYI. The British Fashion Awards were held in London, and this year?s event got a really good turnout.
If you?re still reeling from Salma Hayek?s breast tragedy on Sunday night, you?re in luck! She also brought her girls out for the BFAs. This ?custom? Gucci is incredibly unflattering, but hey? at least we?re just getting too much cleavage, as opposed to her look at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards, which involved her breasts nearly coming out of her gown. This Gucci just makes her look like a saloon hooker in the 19th century. Controversial opinion: after a certain age, women should not wear Pink ruffles.
Here?s Victoria Beckham wearing a tuxedo of her own design. Would this have looked better with a white blouse underneath instead of the black tee? Hm. David wore Burberry, and his tux looks great. I still can?t believe he?s the reigning Sexiest Man Alive though.
Speaking of Burberry, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore this slinky Burberry number. I kind of think the tailoring is off ? it should not be so slouchy at the side. But other than that, I love the simplicity of this. Her styling is on point too, I love her hair here.
Alexa Chung in Erdem Spring 2016. This sh-t is a mess. The shoulders are all wrong for someone built like Alexa, and that skirt is a disaster.
Naomi Campbell in what seems like a Burberry lingerie piece. Too nightgowny and lacy for evening wear, but hell, it?s Naomi. What are you going to do?
For real question: why does Rita Ora have access to Chanel? I mean, Chanel tries to be elite. Why would they dress Rita Ora for the British Fashion Awards? Is it because the dress isn?t all that special and no one better wanted to wear it?
Noomi Rapace in Givenchy. My God. This is a total mess too. WTF is Riccardo Tisci doing to the House of Givenchy? This is SO BAD.

Here is Salma Hayek leaving little to the imagination while stepping out for the 2015 Evening Standard Theatre Awards held at The Old Vic Theatre in London, England.
Clearly dressing to impress, the Mexican-born actress was out in full-force and put on an eye-popping display in a skin-tight dress.
Featuring a plunging neckline with ruffled detail, it purposely drew attention to her ample bosom, which took centre stage.
