Barbie has crossed $1.1 billion at the domestic and international box office. It is Warner Bros? second-highest-grossing film of all time. It is the highest grossing film directed by a woman (solo). Everyone in the industry has rushed to give Warner Bros credit for Barbie?s success. Everyone rushed to give Greta Gerwig credit for directing and co-writing the script and doing it such a smart way. All of that is well-deserved, but give Margot Robbie her flowers too. She executive produced it through her company, LuckyChap. She pitched the film to Mattel. She hired Greta to write and direct. Margot got Mattel to sign off on Gerwig?s script and Margot fought for Gerwig?s vision the whole time. And while doing all of that behind-the-scenes, Margot played a brilliant version of Barbie and she really was the only actress who could have played that part. Well, no one is in a rush to acknowledge Margot?s role in bringing Barbie to the big screen, but at least Margot is getting PAID.
Margot Robbie is being richly rewarded for her key role in bringing ?Barbie? to the big screen. The star and producer behind the summer?s biggest hit stands to make roughly $50 million in salary and box office bonuses, according to three individuals with knowledge of her deal.
?Barbie? director and co-writer Greta Gerwig will also likely receive bonuses because of the film?s outsized success. ?Barbie? has earned an astonishing $526.3 million at the domestic box office since it opened a month ago, as well as $657.6 million at the international box office. That comes out to $1.18 billion globally ? and that figure should keep climbing given that ?Barbie? is still topping box office charts.
In addition to bringing the popular children?s toy to glittering life, Robbie produced the film through her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, which she founded in 2014 with her now-husband, Tom Ackerley, and friends Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr. The goal of the company was to tell women?s stories on screen and support women creators behind the scenes. Its slate of projects includes the Oscar-nominated ?Promising Young Woman,? the superhero sequel ?Birds of Prey? and the Netflix series ?Maid.?
[From Variety]
She also produced I, Tonya, which got her an Oscar nomination (well-deserved). It would not surprise me at all if she picked up her third and perhaps fourth Oscar nominations next year, for actress and producer. While I do wish Margot was getting more credit for Barbie, I do think that LuckyChap really became a player here while they were already becoming known for producing good, interesting projects, this is next level. Barbie?s success means that they get their pick of scripts and directors from here on out. Plus the $50 million paycheck for Margot is probably very nice. I wonder if Margot?s contract also had a clause about potential sequels?

Barbie has invaded Europe and the glamour is off the charts! These photos are from last night?s London premiere of Barbie. Margot Robbie?s stylist Andrew Mukamal pulled out all the stops for this premiere: they homage?d the 1960 ?Enchanted Evening? Barbie, complete with a customized, pale Pink Vivienne Westwood gown and detachable fur collar. Mattel should give Margot a bonus for what she?s doing with her promotional looks she?s significantly driving up interest in the new and vintage dolls.

Last night was the big LA premiere of Barbie. We are in the final home stretch of promotion now, and Margot Robbie?s stylist Andrew Makamal remains undefeated. Makamal dressed Robbie in Schiaparelli Haute Couture for the LA premiere surprisingly not ?Barbie pink,? but still a classic Barbie look. This was an homage to a 1960s Barbie doll called Solo in the Spotlight Barbie. She looks amazing and she?s been doing these doll-homages throughout the promotional tour.
Ryan Gosling did choose to wear a shade of Pink a pale ?Millennial pink? Gucci suit. He looks great.
Issa Rae actually had my favorite look this is Barbie! I mean, the dress is Marc Bouwer. But she IS President Barbie.
Alexandra Shipp in Miu Miu. Super-cute.
Kate McKinnon wore a Barbie-pink vest and slacks. Even Billie Eilish caught the Barbie bug.
Gal Gadot wore JW Anderson eh.
Nicki Minaj was there she?s on the soundtrack and her fans are called Barbz.
America Ferrera in St. John.

I dont think Ive ever seen Margot Robbie in a gown where she especially stands out. She usually looks very pretty yet unremarkable and I think thats intentional. I also think thats why shes going to kill it as Barbie, Im so looking forward to that movie. Margot was in a Chanel gown from 1993 featuring a clear bodice with beaded boning. (Update: Cindy Crawford originally wore this gown. Thanks Mellie!) This is nice, its not fabulous. Thats very much her vibe and theres nothing wrong with that. Her makeup and hair are so pretty and understated.
Elle Fanning was in Vivienne Westwood. She said her flower crown was a nod to Lagerfeld, who chose a flower crown for her on one of their shoots together. She also had on a Cartier necklace worn by Grace Kelly in 1995 and said she was at the Cartier table. I liked this boho interpretation of Lagerfelds work.

| | Margot Robbie wore a twee Alessandra Rich in NYC: hideous or hilarious? | | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Margot Robbie is in New York this week to promote her latest film, Amsterdam. Amsterdam was directed by David O. Russell, who has a long history of being rude, abusive and problematic (and his niece accused him of assaulting her). Considering Margot?s whole professional vibe, I?m really surprised that she signed on to work with Russell, but here we are.
Anyway, I mostly wanted to talk about her fashion. As I stared in horror at this hideous polka-dotted, twee-collared dress, I realized that I was looking at something that reminded me of Princess/Duchess Kate?s go-to style. I thought ?I wonder if this is Alessandra Rich.? It is. While Rich arguably designs these monstrosities to be worn with a wink (how Margot is wearing it), it?s really crazy how this has become the default ?look? of so much of mass-market women?s clothing these days. Puffy shoulders, weird collars and lapels, polka dots, ruffles, buttons, random pockets (with both buttons and ruffles). Why does everything look like this nowadays?
On Sunday, Margot also went to the New York premiere of Amsterdam. She wore Chanel to the premiere, and it?s one of the better Chanel dresses she?s worn. I like the simplicity of the top of the dress, and the tiered skirt is actually really pretty. It?s a very bridal look, but that?s fine.

Over the past week, photo agencies have been getting a lot of photos from the Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Margot is Barbie, Ryan is Ken. The supporting cast is bonkers and some of the actors have said that the script (cowritten by Greta Gerwig) is amazing. The set photos from LA and Venice Beach have the look, feel and energy of dolls coming to life. I guess that?s what we?re supposed to feel? Like, childhood excitement that our childhood Barbie dolls have come to life. But doesn?t that sound really unsettling? My God.
Anyway, these are photos of Ryan and Margot roller-blading through Venice Beach, with director Margot Robbie filming them. Again, no one has any idea what the fking plot is. David Mack at Buzzfeed wrote a hilarious piece about that, how none of the script has leaked and no one has any gdamn idea what the film is actually supposed to be about. But hey, Margot absolutely looks like a Barbie doll come to life. I am enjoying how Ryan seems? happy. He seems amused by this.
My guess about the plot is that it resembles Enchanted someone casts a spell and the dolls ?come to life? and begin living out in the world and interacting with people outside of BarbieWorld. I would guess that Barbie realizes that Ken is a dud and she ends up with a man of substance, maybe. She learns lessons and she teaches normal people to embrace their inner childhood or something.

Margot Robbie, as always, has some kind of contract with Chanel which ensures that she wears Chanel at all of the major red carpets. Ever since she got that contract, she?s been using it as an excuse to phone it in! Chanel gives her the most boring gowns and her styling is kind of terrible. I mean, I love her, she?s a very talented actress and an amazing producer focused on female storytelling and female directors and that?s all great. But lord, she looked like hell at the Oscars! The frazzled hair and the thick, shaggy bangs? it?s awful. And she literally just threw her hair back in a limp, low ponytail!!

I like Margot Robbie, I think she?s a very talented actress and I admire what she?s trying to do as a producer. But after briefly being fashion?s new It Girl several years ago, Margot and her stylist have not known what to do since. I guess contractually she was obligated to wear Chanel, but none of the new looks appealed to her (same!) so she ended up pulling this one out of Chanel?s archives. And it still kind of sucks. Maybe she?ll dress better when her Chanel contract is over? Until then, she?ll have the best dressed elbows of anyone. And honestly, I am enjoying her Big Sorceress Energy.
Billie Eilish in Chanel she?s been wearing so much Gucci lately, I thought for sure she?d turn up in something slime green and boxy with a Gucci label. But no, she wore this and? it?s meh. I appreciate that she put in some effort, I guess. Billie came on in the end to perform ?Yesterday? in the In Memoriam section, and there were several cutaways to her throughout the show, where she looked like she didn?t really understand what was happening.
Penlope Cruz in Chanel. This was not a great dress and it moved poorly, and she looked very uncomfortable in it. She was just there as a presenter though.
Margaret Qualley in Chanel. I was only paying attention to this from the waist up and I thought the weird ?bib? sort of worked. But combined with the feathered bottom, maybe not? Chanel does minimalism and it looks like this. Hm.
And finally, Lucy Boynton wore Chanel as well. This one is the most blah Chanel look, in my opinion.

Unpopular opinion alert: Margot Robbie?s stylist does her dirty more often than the stylist does her a solid. For such an attractive woman, how does Margot consistently look so FLAT at premieres and awards shows? Every designer wants to work with her! How difficult is it to slap some makeup on her face, put her hair in a bun and put her in a cute dress? Super-hard, apparently. These are photos from the London premiere of Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. I ?get? that Margot wanted something funky for the premiere, she didn?t want to go ?pretty? or ?runway goddess.? She wanted a sartorial reference to Harley Quinn. But is this Dries Van Noten look the thing that does that? It looks more like an unflattering dress with boob feathers and then she just threw on some hot Pink gloves.
More photos from the premiere? Mary Elizabeth Winstead looks beautiful, and there?s just enough ?kitsch? to this ensemble to make it work for this particular premiere. I would have been fine with MEW switching looks with Margot. Hey, is MEW still with Ewan Mcgregor or what? I think they?re still happening, they?re just being a lot quieter about it. He left his wife of 22 years for her. Mess.
Jurnee Smollett-Bell looks like she borrowed Catwoman?s costume! Great outfit for a comic-book premiere.
Rosie Perez also looks like she?s wearing Catwoman gear, but, like, Retired Catwoman Loungewear. I might delete that

| | Margot Robbie in Chanel at the SAG Awards: lovely or just not on-brand? | | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Margot Robbie?s Chanel contract reminds me a lot of Jennifer Lawrence?s Dior contract I?m glad these ladies are getting paid and I?m glad they don?t have to stress about finding a dress last-minute, but? there?s inherently a ?bad fit? between designer and celebrity. Margot looked so much better when she wore whatever she wanted, but now that she mostly has to wear Chanel on the major red carpets, it just feels like it?s bad for her personal brand, and bad for Chanel?s brand. So, this is what Margot wore to the SAG Awards. It? does not suit her. It?s not BAD, per se, it just doesn?t look right on any level.
I?m always surprised that more women don?t wear suits to the SAG Awards, it seems like the perfect event to mix in a nice suit or lady?s tuxedo. Margaret Qualley was one of the few women who suited up for this year?s SAGs and so that made her stand out like crazy. Plus, this Chanel suit was GOOD. Really good. She looks like a model straight off the runway.
