Over the past week, photo agencies have been getting a lot of photos from the Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Margot is Barbie, Ryan is Ken. The supporting cast is bonkers and some of the actors have said that the script (cowritten by Greta Gerwig) is amazing. The set photos from LA and Venice Beach have the look, feel and energy of dolls coming to life. I guess that?s what we?re supposed to feel? Like, childhood excitement that our childhood Barbie dolls have come to life. But doesn?t that sound really unsettling? My God.
Anyway, these are photos of Ryan and Margot roller-blading through Venice Beach, with director Margot Robbie filming them. Again, no one has any idea what the fking plot is. David Mack at Buzzfeed wrote a hilarious piece about that, how none of the script has leaked and no one has any gdamn idea what the film is actually supposed to be about. But hey, Margot absolutely looks like a Barbie doll come to life. I am enjoying how Ryan seems? happy. He seems amused by this.
My guess about the plot is that it resembles Enchanted someone casts a spell and the dolls ?come to life? and begin living out in the world and interacting with people outside of BarbieWorld. I would guess that Barbie realizes that Ken is a dud and she ends up with a man of substance, maybe. She learns lessons and she teaches normal people to embrace their inner childhood or something.

Margot Robbie, as always, has some kind of contract with Chanel which ensures that she wears Chanel at all of the major red carpets. Ever since she got that contract, she?s been using it as an excuse to phone it in! Chanel gives her the most boring gowns and her styling is kind of terrible. I mean, I love her, she?s a very talented actress and an amazing producer focused on female storytelling and female directors and that?s all great. But lord, she looked like hell at the Oscars! The frazzled hair and the thick, shaggy bangs? it?s awful. And she literally just threw her hair back in a limp, low ponytail!!

I like Margot Robbie, I think she?s a very talented actress and I admire what she?s trying to do as a producer. But after briefly being fashion?s new It Girl several years ago, Margot and her stylist have not known what to do since. I guess contractually she was obligated to wear Chanel, but none of the new looks appealed to her (same!) so she ended up pulling this one out of Chanel?s archives. And it still kind of sucks. Maybe she?ll dress better when her Chanel contract is over? Until then, she?ll have the best dressed elbows of anyone. And honestly, I am enjoying her Big Sorceress Energy.
Billie Eilish in Chanel she?s been wearing so much Gucci lately, I thought for sure she?d turn up in something slime green and boxy with a Gucci label. But no, she wore this and? it?s meh. I appreciate that she put in some effort, I guess. Billie came on in the end to perform ?Yesterday? in the In Memoriam section, and there were several cutaways to her throughout the show, where she looked like she didn?t really understand what was happening.
Penlope Cruz in Chanel. This was not a great dress and it moved poorly, and she looked very uncomfortable in it. She was just there as a presenter though.
Margaret Qualley in Chanel. I was only paying attention to this from the waist up and I thought the weird ?bib? sort of worked. But combined with the feathered bottom, maybe not? Chanel does minimalism and it looks like this. Hm.
And finally, Lucy Boynton wore Chanel as well. This one is the most blah Chanel look, in my opinion.

Unpopular opinion alert: Margot Robbie?s stylist does her dirty more often than the stylist does her a solid. For such an attractive woman, how does Margot consistently look so FLAT at premieres and awards shows? Every designer wants to work with her! How difficult is it to slap some makeup on her face, put her hair in a bun and put her in a cute dress? Super-hard, apparently. These are photos from the London premiere of Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. I ?get? that Margot wanted something funky for the premiere, she didn?t want to go ?pretty? or ?runway goddess.? She wanted a sartorial reference to Harley Quinn. But is this Dries Van Noten look the thing that does that? It looks more like an unflattering dress with boob feathers and then she just threw on some hot Pink gloves.
More photos from the premiere? Mary Elizabeth Winstead looks beautiful, and there?s just enough ?kitsch? to this ensemble to make it work for this particular premiere. I would have been fine with MEW switching looks with Margot. Hey, is MEW still with Ewan Mcgregor or what? I think they?re still happening, they?re just being a lot quieter about it. He left his wife of 22 years for her. Mess.
Jurnee Smollett-Bell looks like she borrowed Catwoman?s costume! Great outfit for a comic-book premiere.
Rosie Perez also looks like she?s wearing Catwoman gear, but, like, Retired Catwoman Loungewear. I might delete that

Margot Robbie?s Chanel contract reminds me a lot of Jennifer Lawrence?s Dior contract I?m glad these ladies are getting paid and I?m glad they don?t have to stress about finding a dress last-minute, but? there?s inherently a ?bad fit? between designer and celebrity. Margot looked so much better when she wore whatever she wanted, but now that she mostly has to wear Chanel on the major red carpets, it just feels like it?s bad for her personal brand, and bad for Chanel?s brand. So, this is what Margot wore to the SAG Awards. It? does not suit her. It?s not BAD, per se, it just doesn?t look right on any level.
I?m always surprised that more women don?t wear suits to the SAG Awards, it seems like the perfect event to mix in a nice suit or lady?s tuxedo. Margaret Qualley was one of the few women who suited up for this year?s SAGs and so that made her stand out like crazy. Plus, this Chanel suit was GOOD. Really good. She looks like a model straight off the runway.

For some reason, I thought Margot Robbie would be wearing Tom Ford at the Globes, because I thought she had a lowkey sponsorship with Tom Ford?? But no, she doesn?t? anymore. Nowadays, she?s lowkey contractually obligated to wear Chanel on every major awards red carpet. And as with so many Chanel girls, I often feel like it?s not the best fit. I?m kind of here for the top of this imagine if the whole dress was made from that embroidered material. It would be very interesting, possibly even beautiful. The white skirt throws it off, imo. Maybe if the skirt was black? Her styling is really dull too she was probably aiming for ?beach waves and lowkey makeup? but she just looks too informal.
Margaret Qualley also got to wear Chanel and this look has a more ?Chanel? feel. It has beautiful construction, but it?s kind of boring. She?s so pretty.

Several months ago, I referred to Margot Robbie as a Cool Girl. I didn?t really mean it as an insult, although many people took it that way. I don?t even think that Margot is trying to be this perfect, male-idealized Cool Girl, I think she just exists that way naturally. People always talk about how normal she is and how even though she becomes more famous every year (with an Oscar nomination to boot), she?s still the kind of woman who spends days at a music festival, sleeping on the ground, or that she?s really just a beer-guzzling, meat-eating girl next door who has no idea that she?s hot as hell. Anyway, Margot is getting attention this week for revealing the weirdest place she?s ever had sex: a JET SKI. Wait. What.
On the weirdest place she has ever made love, Margot Robbie reveals: ?On a jet-ski. A non-moving jet-ski, but in the water.?
She does not, however, reveal whether it was with her husband of three years, British director Tom Ackerley. And beware mentioning the ?C-word? ? children. She is infuriated by people expecting her to have kids since tying the knot.
She says: ?I got married and the first question is, ?Babies? When are you having one?? I?m so angry that there?s this social contract. ?You?re married, now have a baby.? Don?t presume. I?ll do what I?m going to do. If I?m looking into my future 30 years from now, I want to see a big Christmas dinner with tons of kids there. But not at the moment. That?s 100 per cent certain.?

She?s gone off on the kid thing before and it seems to genuinely upset her, the fact that so many people were asking her when she?s going to get pregnant once she married her husband. It is rude, I agree. But I?m guilty of it too whenever people get married, I just start thinking about when we?ll hear the pregnancy announcement. Like, I still think we?ll get one from Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger any day now. But I know it?s not any of my business.
As for the jet ski? I understand the position of everything, I think. The guy is seated on the jet ski and Margot would be in his lap, either facing him or turned around, I guess. Gives a whole new meaning to the motion of the ocean. But yeah, Peak Cool Girl.

In a recent post about Margot Robbie?s OUATIH promotional fashion, I complained about her color scheme, and how I?m not into the yellows and rusty bronze shades. Someone commented with the theory that Margot is trying to coordinate with the OUATIH poster and she?s trying to look like a ?sunset,? and that sort of blew my mind. Now I sort of believe that too she?s not doing a full Sharon Tate cosplay, only a couple of looks seemed sort of Sharon Tate-esque. But Margot is definitely choosing some of her looks to coordinate with the backdrop. It makes sense.
Anyway, here are some photos of Margot, Leo DiCaprio and Quentin Tarantino at the Rome premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I guess Brad Pitt was only contractually obligated for the London and Berlin premieres, and he doesn?t have to do the full European tour. Margot wore this sunshine-yellow/saffron colored Dries Van Noten dress (watch by Richard Mille). I dislike yellow on the red carpet, but I don?t really hate this. I like that her look isn?t too ?done? hair a bit messy, dress that fits like a nightgown, a strong red lip but her makeup doesn?t look too ?done.? It?s sort of great, honestly.
Meanwhile, did you know that I?ve never seen The Revenant OR Wolf of Wall Street? I just didn?t care. I think Leo is an okay actor, but I?ve never watched a movie just for Leo, and I won?t see OUATIH just for Leo either. But I do know that Leo has helped Margot Robbie out a lot, and that they?re good friends off-camera. I suspect that he treats Margot like one of his bros, and she probably loves that too. When they worked on Wolf of Wall Street, there were often reports about Margot joining the Wolf Pack for nights out, partying and drinking and gambling.
Apparently, Leo knew Margot was going to be a huge deal as soon as she auditioned with him. He told The Project that Margot?s addition scene was the one where she was supposed to kiss him but Margot decided to slap him: ?In Wolf of Wall Street, seeing Margot come in and read that scene with me, I knew I was witnessing a dynamic presence in cinema that was about to begin. Scorsese and myself were blown away about how much she gave to the scene [and] fought back, and we both kind of immediately knew that she was going to have an incredible career.? It?s nice. But it makes me wonder if Leo did much to support Margot?s career after that? Probably not.

In the deep, dark cavernous Button Room of Kensington Palace, the Duchess of Cambridge just shivered. ?So many tiny little buttons,? she said to herself, almost near tears. ?I should have been the one to save them, to give them a home.? Kate would have a restless night, she knew that. So she stared once more into the button abyss of Margot Robbie?s dress. A tear ran down her cheek slowly. ?If only I could have bespoke?d that, I would have added even MORE.?
Yes, Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino are on the road to promote Once Upon a Time in Hollywood throughout Europe. On Tuesday, they were in London. On Thursday, they were in Berlin. They did a day-photocall and an evening premiere. It makes sense, btw. Quentin?s films are beloved in Europe, and Quentin loves going to Europe.
Anyway, Margot?s tiny-button dress is a Jacquemus. I?m surprised that she seems to have given up on Chanel she has a contract to wear a lot of Chanel, and I?m kind of wondering if Chanel possibly dropped the ball and didn?t have anything specially prepared for this promotional tour. Personally, I don?t like this dress and I don?t like how Margot has sort of given up on late ?60s styling and now seems to be going for ?90s revival. This dress is very ?90s that shade of faux-military green was everywhere, and this style of dress was everywhere. As for Brad and Leo? they look okay. Brad looks good and Leo looks like he had a few drinks before they came onto the red carpet.

Here are some photos from the London premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. What do you think of Margot Robbie?s Oscar de la Renta gown? What have you thought about her fashion choices this entire promotional tour, starting with the Cannes Film Festival? I?ve been underwhelmed, honestly. Margot is so pretty and she can wear anything, and I think that?s the trap: her stylists and people are always like ?you can pull it off, you look fabulous, we?ll make it work,? and she gets talked into some dumb choices. I don?t hate this de la Renta dress, I just find is kind of boring and too autumnal for a July premiere. I mean, rust/burnt sienna? What is this, 1998 J. Crew? The worst part of her promo style has definitely been her makeup though. It?s WAY too severe.
Also at the premiere: Leo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, of course. Brad Pitt looks? really good in these photos. He looks so good that I kind of feel like we?re going to get a ?Brad Pitt girlfriend rollout? at some point very soon. Can?t wait. I hope he?s fake-dating another MIT professor, that was fun as hell.
And finally, Lena Dunham attended the premiere. She?s in the film, along with a slew of other second-generation Hollywood types. Lena decided to give into her worst urges and murder a Muppet and wear the Muppet?s skin as a trophy. The casual cruelty of Lena Dunham.
