Here are some photos of the primary cast at last night?s LA premiere of Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie were all in attendance, alongside writer/director Quentin Tarantino. I feel like Margot was aiming for a general kind of Sharon Tate vibe in her Chanel dress, especially with the sheer sleeves and ?1960s nightgown? vibe, plus Margot was styled with slightly higher hair, much like Sharon Tate?s hair in Valley of the Dolls. The style inspo has been done before, but in this particular situation, it definitely fits. Her makeup is the WORST though.
Something that bugged me was that they got Brad, Leo and Margot to all pose together atop some steps/elevation and then when the posing was over, neither Leo nor Brad offered Margot a hand with getting down those couple of steps! She was the one in a gown and heels, gentlemen. As for Leo and Brad? they looked fine. I think Brad looked especially good. His face tweaking and wig have definitely settled!

A couple of years after I graduated from college, I was between jobs and I ended up babysitting for my neighbors a few nights here and there. The family was very churchy and Evangelical, but they weren?t looking to convert me, thank God, and they just seemed happy to have some time away from their kids. The two kids were homeschooled and they were super-sheltered, innocent and very pure little souls, and they basically had zero pop culture references, because all they were allowed to do was Bible study and watch a handful of religious cartoons. Enter? me. Yeah, I exposed those kids to wickedness, likeThe Sound of Music. In my defense, I thought The Sound of Music would be fine because it involved a nun and singing!! I was delighted to expose those kids to that musical.
Then, one day, I brought over my Star Wars collection, the reissued original trilogy. Once again, I was like ?it?s OG Star Wars, they need to see this just as a basic reference point.? Soon Jesus had been abandoned and everything was about Star Wars. No, I jest, but I do think Episodes IV-VI blew their little minds. Judge away, but I think I did that family a big favor. Anyway, I was reminded of that because it?s still strange to me that there are people out there who have never seen even ONE Star Wars movie. I get it if you haven?t seen the latest one, or if you mostly slept on Episode II and III, as I did too. But how can you make it through life and be 20-something or 30-something without ever seeing ANY Star Wars movie? You basically have to be one of those uber-sheltered church kids. Or Margot Robbie:
Margot Robbie has never seen a Star Wars movie in her entire life, and the Australian actress says she doesn?t plan to for as long as possible. Robbie, 29, was interviewed alongside her Once Upon a Time in Hollywood costars, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, whom she says used to tease her whenever she would mention she hadn?t seen an iconic or popular film.
?I remember when you (DiCaprio) and I did Wolf of Wall Street that you would get mad at me for anytime I?d mention a movie I hadn?t seen, he?d be like, ?How have you not seen Citizen Kane? How can you work in this industry and not see Citizen Kane?!? she told MTV News. ?I?m like, ?I just got here to this industry, you?ve had more time to watch this stuff!? Then I?d go home and watch Citizen Kane and watch all the movies he?d tell me I ?had to see.??
While the fact that Robbie hadn?t see Citizen Kane may have ruffled her costars feathers, it?s nothing compared to the reactions she gets when she tells people she?s never seen a Star Wars movie. And according to Robbie, the fact that she has made it 29 years without ever seeing one of the films makes her want to watch one even less, especially when meeting a fan of the franchise. Now, Robbie says she just wants to see how long she can go without watching them.
?I?ve never seen any Star Wars (films), and I kind of don?t watch it now just because it infuriates people so much. They?re like, ?How?! How have you never watched any Star Wars?! And now, I just want to see how long I can make it (without watching them),? she admitted.
Given that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is about the golden age of cinema, Robbie?s costars were naturally surprised when they learned she hadn?t seen many of the era?s classics. ?I?ve never seen Gone With the Wind, either,? she said. ?Are you serious?!? DiCaprio, 44, exclaimed in response.

I kind of hate-respect the idea of ?Star Wars fans are looney and I refuse to watch those movies out of spite.? I get that. I enjoy Star Wars movies but I?m not about to spread the gospel of Star Wars to the non-believers. Again, though, it?s a pop culture reference point. If I was her friend, I would lure her into a quiet weekend with nothing to do and just pop in A New Hope and see where it takes us. I wouldn?t demand that she see Episodes I-III. Maybe, if she finished Return of the Jedi, I would suggest The Force Awakens next. As for not seeing Gone with the Wind? I also get that one, and why an Australian would have skipped it. It?s such an inherently problematic American film.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood comes out in a few weeks, which means the promotional tour is ramping up. I was a little bit surprised by how lowkey OUATIH was at the Cannes Film Festival yes, there was a splashy premiere and photocall, but didn?t it seem like it was kind of a minor event? I felt that way about Cannes in general this year, it was definitely missing some glamour and excitement. In any case, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie will probably all make the TV rounds in some way or another. Maybe Brad will do an in-depth interview with a friendly outlet, but probably not. In lieu of single-person interviews, the studio has set it up so Margot, Brad, Leo and Quentin Tarantino are all being interviewed as a group. Margot Robbie is beloved in the British press. I mean, she?s well-liked everywhere and she gets good press here in America too, but the British press really seems to treat her like one of their own for some reason, possibly because she married an Englishman? Maybe that?s it. So Margot is their honorary Brit, and they give her a rock star reception whenever she does anything in England. She?s nominated this year at the BAFTAs for Mary Queen of Scots (she plays QEI) in the supporting category. So she decided to really go all out and wear this bejeweled Chanel gown with full ?wings? or something. I would be interested in seeing this gown without the stiff tulle nonsense I suspect it would have been an interesting dress without it. As it is, I just hate this.
Viola Davis in Armani. This reminds me so much of the iconic ?80s dress Julia Roberts wore in Mystic Pizza. Either you get that sartorial reference or you don?t. To me? I just think Viola could do better, but I don?t hate this. I?m actually impressed that the BAFTAs gave her a nomination for Widows, because she was GREAT in that movie.
I heard a rumor that Adam Driver and his wife were quietly divorcing. Either that wasn?t true or they?re sticking together for the awards season.
I love Claire Foy and I think she?s a lovely woman, but her style has been driving me crazy for months. This Oscar de la Renta is just such a snooze at THIS event, where she really could have blown it out. It looks like she just wrapped a curtain around her body and decided ?fk it, this is good enough.? The curtain is a pretty color and that?s the only nice thing I?ll say.

I don?t really feel sorry for Margot Robbie, even though she?s not winning anything this awards season. She?s getting nominated for I, Tonya and I think she?s happy with that, just as she?s happy to see Allison Janney win the awards. Margot produced I, Tonya, and I think all of this is what she wanted: she wanted the film to be discussed, she wanted the big nominations, and she wanted the film to make money. Everything else is just gravy. Plus, she?s dressing like a woman who just gets to have fun at the parties, as opposed to ?the sure-thing nominee who knows her dress will be photographed a million times.? Margot wore this frothy Miu Miu in a pale Pink (it read as off-white in some photos) with feathers. I don?t like this at all, but I have to admit, she looks gorgeous. She can pull off anything, honestly.
Allison Janney knows she?s going to win at this point, and so that?s why I can?t believe she chose this horrendous Yanina Couture gown. This is horrible! Horrible shoulders, horrible sleeves, horrible fit around the waist. Bad. (I still love her though.)
Holly Hunter was nominated for Supporting Actress too, for The Big Sick. She lost to Allison. She wore this Paule Ka dress which? I mean, I would not have chosen for her, but she looks fine. My issue is with her hair. Remember when she used to have dark hair? She?s been doing this weird, sketchy blonde shade for years and it?s awful.

I love it when you can just tell that an actress has been ?talked into? wearing something by their stylist. You can see it on their face, the fact that they?re not really a believer. Such is the case with Margot Robbie in this Chanel. Margot is getting over the flu, and she seemed a bit perkier at the Critics Choice Awards than she did at the Golden Globes. But she still didn?t seem like a believer in this Chanel. I see why – this is ridiculous. At least she had fun with her hair though.
Allison Janney, goddess among women. She?s such a cheeseball and so much fun. She wore this Michael Cinco gown and looked great. She won too – does she have Best Supporting Actress locked up at this point?
Elisabeth Moss in Erdem? oh, honey, no. This is bad on her. It?s not really a bad dress, I just think the lining gives Moss a weird doll-like body. The silhouette is actually great on her though – this is exactly the cut she needs to flatter her figure.
Nicole Kidman in Valentino. This was so bad! It was bad from every angle. It was bad in motion. It had bad sleeves and a bad neck and a bad skirt. Bad bad bad.

Here are some photos from the big LA premiere of I, Tonya last night. Margot Robbie really is a bombshell, isn?t she? One sign of Margot?s bombshell status is that she?s one of those rare women who makes cheap-looking clothing look somehow expensive and high-fashion. It?s a gift that few celebrities have, honestly. Margot wore this cheap-looking gold Versace dress which looks like it came from Frederick?s of Hollywood, and yet on Margot, it looks great. She looks stunning.
Margot happily posed with the true OG Tonya Harding, who seemed pleased to be there. Margot?s costars were there too, including Sebastian Stan (who plays Tonya?s dirtbag husband), Julianne Nicholson and Allison Janney. Janney in particular can do no wrong – even when she?s wearing a boring sack, I still think ?wow, Oscar-worthy.?
Speaking of Oscar-worthy? I know there?s a lot of debate about Margot?s Oscar chances. For the record, I still believe she?s a shoo-in for all of the major Best Actress awards, but the way the actress race is shaping up, I think she?s going to lose everywhere to Saoirse Ronan (that?s how it looks now, it could change). But Allison Janney? I feel like she?s close to a sure thing for Best Supporting Actress. She fits so much of the criteria: she?s been around forever, she knows everybody, everybody loves her, she?s a world-class actress and she?s never been nominated for an Oscar. The Academy loves to give ?older actors? the Oscar in supporting categories. It?s like their version of a lifetime achievement award.

Here are some photos from last night?s London premiere of Goodbye Christopher Robin, the true (or true-ish) story of A.A. Milne and how he created the world of Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin, Piglet, Tigger and more. Hot Ginger Domhnall Gleeson plays Milne, a man haunted by war, who retreats to the country with his hot wife, played by Margot Robbie. They have a young son, Christopher Robin, and Milne and Christopher take walks and work together to create the world of Winnie the Pooh and his friends. Apparently, this is a pretty staid bio-pic of Milne, and the reviews are mostly mediocre from what I?ve seen – you can read some spoiler-heavy reviews here at Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. Here?s the trailer:
As for these photos, Margot Robbie is, by default, the star of the show because she?s the biggest name involved on this film. She wore an absolutely dreadful Brock Collection dress to the premiere. I mean, I sort of get it – she was aiming for something sweet and kid-friendly, because she knew she was going to be posing with a giant OG Pooh (#NotMyPoohBear). This was not the moment to wear something avant-garde, or like, black leather. But still, this dress comes off as much too sugary. Plus, the ?wet look? hair doesn?t go with anything (I think it was actually raining at the premiere though, so I give her a pass on that). It?s also worth noting that GCR could actually be Oscar-bait – it?s British, it?s a period drama, it?s a bio-pic, all of which the Academy loves. So? Margot Robbie could actually be all over the place during the Oscar season, for this film and I, Tonya.
