The Mother of Dragons is Esquire?s Sexiest Woman Alive for 2015. Breaker of Chains! Actually, it?s just little Emilia Clarke without the blonde wig and without her dragon babies. I absolutely HATE the cover. Esquire did a perfectly lovely photoshoot with Emilia where she looks kittenish and sexy, so I have no idea why they Photoshopped the crap out of one of the bed photos and threw it down at the bottom of the cover. It?s so weird. As for the profile? eh. The Esquire writer and Emilia did a ?fun day? playing ?Game of Phones? in London, but there?s no big reveal or anything. There are barely any quotes at all ? you can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
How she takes her tea: “How do you take it? In my family we always argue about the order of pouring. I’m a milk-first kind of girl.”
Her parents: “They didn’t want me to go to boarding school. I wanted to. My brother was already going [he's two years older], and I fancied his friends.”
Her dad tried to prepare her: “He was crew, not cast; there’s a big divide? He wanted me to be very realistic about the whole thing, about how nobody makes any money. The only line you’ll ever need to learn, he told me, is Do you want fries with that?”
How she got cast in GoT: “And then my agent calls me up and says, ‘Did you ever go up for Game of Thrones?’ ” The original pilot for the show had already been shot but nobody was happy with it, so HBO was digging back into the casting pile to try and save it. This is where Emilia came in. “My agent told the casting director, ‘I know that the breakdown for this character is tall and willowy and blonde. I know she’s short and round and brown, but I’d like you to see her.’ I had two scenes which told me nothing and not very much time in which to read all those [George R. R. Martin] books. So I did what every good actor does and Wikipedia’d the living crap out of it. Yeah ? [they wanted] someone who could grow before your eyes in one season, who could gather strength and show vulnerability, they wanted the arc?”

I always wonder about the money with the Game of Thrones actors though. I mean, the cast is so big and HBO is spending so much on sets, locations, costumes and all of that. It?s a HUGE production. I just don?t believe any of the actors are really getting paid that much. Maybe Peter Dinklage is scoring the big paychecks, but Emilia? Doubtful. But she?ll be able to make money with everything beyond GoT, so it all works out. Anyway? I don?t hate the choice of Emilia for Sexiest Woman Alive. It?s fine. She?s lovely.

The "Game of Thrones" starlet wears nothing but a strategically placed silk sheet and necklace during her November cover shoot.
Esquire writer Benjamin Markovits shares his thoughts on the Daenerys Targaryen actress' nomination, "Half pal, half dominatrix. Half kid sister, half sexy queen. The movie star who plays, in her real life, an anonymous, funny beauty. This is the gorgeous balance of Emilia Clarke." While Lisa Hintelmann, reveals why Clarke was the clear choice for the title, "Emilia Clarke is unforgettable in Game of Thrones and was hands down the number one choice of Esquire's staff, friends and family."
Clarke, who was named GQ's Woman of the Year in September, joins the list of former "Sexiest Women" winners, Penelope Cruz (2014), Scarlett Johansson (2013), Mila Kunis (2012) and Rihanna in 2011.

Their onscreen romance was as captivating as they come, so when Emilia Clarke and Jason Momoa got together for some social media selfies in Paris on Friday (October 2) the chemistry was definitely still present.
The ?Game of Thrones? costars both happened to be attending the festivities at Paris Fashion Week and luckily for their Instagram followers they brought their camera phones.
Momoa wrote, ?My khalessi @emilia_clarke. When she smiles at you? Goofballs @emilia_Clarke my khalessi. What a woman.? For her part, Clarke also noted, ?Well I guess the sun rises in the west and sets in the east then huh? I think the Mother of Dragons is so pretty! I know that?s not the most popular opinion ? hating on Emilia Clarke seems to be the cool thing to do these days, but I think she does a decent job as Dany on Game of Thrones, and I find her very pretty and striking. Emilia covers the new issue of Marie Claire UK to promote not GoT, but her role as Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys. I?ve been avoiding watching the trailer but then I saw a TV ad for the movie and? nope. I?m out. I like Emilia but I don?t understand why they made this movie at all (I?ll include the trailer at the end of the post). Some highlights from MC UK:
Trolls hating on her appearance: “I remember when everything first kicked off, I Googled myself. You just do; it’s instinct. But never again. It just takes that one person who says, ‘She’s a fat bitch,’ and you’re like, ‘I’m a fat bitch!’”
Why she turned down the Ana Steele role in 50 Shades: “I really wanted to work with Sam Taylor-Johnson because she’s f–king amazing. But there is a huge amount of nudity in the film. I’ll never say ‘I’m never doing nudity,’ because I’ve already done it, but I thought I might get stuck in a pigeonhole that I would have struggled to get out of.”
She lifted weights to prepare for Terminator Genisys: “Those f–king guns are super heavy. You’re running with them a lot of the time, and I needed to keep up with/be better than the boys. I needed to know what to do to have Arnold go, ‘Very nice.” That was my goal.”
On her love life: “I kept thinking that for clarity of mind, I had to be in one place. And then I just realized that’s not how this life is going to work. It makes [dating] absolutely impossible. I’m soppy and I do like to believe that when the right person comes along, it will work, because you want to make it work. Everyone else seems to manage it.”

Who in the world thinks Emilia is fat? I don?t get the internet sometimes. I also wonder if Emilia should continue to claim that she was a major contender for Fifty Shades. I mean, I?m sure she had meetings and I?m sure she was considered, but it?s my understanding that the studio really liked Dakota Johnson very quickly after she auditioned and did a ?chemistry test? with Charlie Hunnam.
Here?s the trailer? I do enjoy Jason Clarke, but this is still a NO.

Emilia Clarke covers the June issue of Harper?s Bazaar (US). She?s promoting her new action film, Terminator Genisys, but of course she spends most of the time talking about Game of Thrones and her role as Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons. The Mother of Dragons names her wigs. The Mother of Dragons has a joking relationship with Iain Glen, who plays Ser Jorah, in which he compliments her boobs. The Mother of Dragons offered to do a threesome with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. The Mother of Dragons is pretty cool.
On Dany?s wigs: “The wig room is incredible. Every character has a wig almost, because we’ve all got bonkers hair. I have named mine. Seasons 1 and 2, she was just Dany. And then Diva came along [following Daenerys's Mother of Dragons moment], she’s completely huge. She didn’t behave herself.”
Getting the part of Dany: “I was literally so over the moon to have an audition, just an audition, let alone for HBO. I was doing a million jobs and thinking it would never happen. Not a chance. Not. A. Chance.”
Prop dragon eggs: Emilia says she tried to steal one but they’re “really, really expensive…apparently Jay Z bought one for Beyonc… or something.”
Her Channing Tatum moment: “Someone took a fantasy in my head and played it in real life. I was at a Golden Globes after-party and Channing F–king Tatum came up to me, and his stunning missus, Jenna. And they said, ‘We call each other “moon of my life” and “my sun and stars” and all that.’ And I was like, ‘I cannot contain this. Please, can we all have something sexual together? You’re both beautiful, even just a hug.’ ”
Her acting future: “Game of Thrones opened a lot of doors. It opened them all.” She has gotten her “badass” hit with Terminator?”that big, awesome storytelling. Like when you were a kid and you imagined it. That’s bonkers.” But now, “I’m wanting to do smaller character pieces, more serious things, less tennis ball and green sticks and special effects. For this next one I don’t need a stunt double or anything!”
What Iain Glen did when he saw her naked during season 1: “The crew was a few cliffs over, so it’s me, four or five extras, and Iain Glen. Iain does this thing where he lifts his head up and his face goes, ‘Aahh, naked lady.’ But because they were filming so far away, what he said was ‘Great t-ts, love.’ I’m like, ‘The camera’s not on you, can you stop commenting on how good you think these breasts are?’ ”
What she cannot wear: “Shorts. I can’t do it. My thighs, they are here. They are making themselves known, and they like skirts, they like trousers. But they don’t like shorts.”
She loves fashion but: “I am so not a fashionista. I walk into those parties, and I’m like, ‘Hey, guys!’ Everyone’s looking really cool, sipping on some mental cocktail, and I’m like, ‘Can I have a cup of tea?’ Such an idiot.”

A note about the wigs: I think Dany?s hair got progressively more complicated when she grew in stature and power, but mostly her hair got more complicated when Dany finally got a full-time hair person. I like the Iain Glen story, although it could probably be read as sexual harassment. I?m assuming that at this point ? the end of Season 1 ? Emilia and Iain were friends and they could joke about that kind of thing. Poor Jorah. He?s probably not going to last the rest of the season, right?

In preparation for Game of Thrones taking over my life starting in April, I?ve been watching DVDs of the previous GoT seasons. I?ve even been listening to the DVD commentary. On one episode, I listened to Emilia cheerfully gush about every single actress on the show. There is no question in my mind that Emilia loves playing the Mother of Dragons/Dany and that she loves being part of such a dynamic show featuring so many strong performances from so many actresses. She came across really well, and she seems very genuine in her girl-power-rah-rah-ness.
Anyway, Emilia covers the new issue of The Hollywood Reporter. It?s a lovely shoot, and I always enjoy seeing her with her naturally dark hair (she wears a wig on GoT). Emilia talks to THR about her role as Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genisys, why she didn?t want to do Fifty Shades of Grey (whoa, she would have been perfect for that) and her stardom as the Mother of Dragons. Oh, and here?s something I didn?t know: she?s currently dating Jai Courtney. He?s cute! He was in Unbroken. He seems a bit bro-y, but I bet they work well together.
Emilia on the success of GoT: “Never in a million years did I think Game of Thrones was going to take off like it did. It’s taken me five years to catch up with it. I’m still not sure I’m there.”
She was offered the lead in Fifty Shades of Grey: “No regrets? I’d done nudity before and was concerned with being labeled for doing it again.?
How no one recognizes her without her GoT-wig: “I get to play other roles without the comparison of being Daenerys, which I think is so lucky.?
She hasn?t been doing much nudity on GoT these days: “There are other women who remove items of clothing on our show, so they’ve kind of got my nipple count down now.?

So, Emilia says that she was outright offered the role of Anastasia Steele? I can see why they wanted her ? she really would have been great for the part. She?s appropriately young-looking, she?s beautiful, and she?s got a quiet sexiness. I wonder if this means that Dakota Johnson was Sam Taylor Johnson?s second choice?
Oh, and there are some interesting details about the money for GoT too, if you?re interested (I?m always interested in hearing about the money). Some sources tell THR that Emilia will be getting about $7 million a season by the seventh season, but Emilia denies that number in the interview, saying it?s ?not even close.? But she doesn?t deny the other rumor, which is that she, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau banded together to collectively renegotiate their contracts and a pay raise. That?s pretty cool, if true (I bet it?s true).
