Demi Lovato covers the November issue of Teen Vogue. This is Demi’s third cover of the same publication, and let’s just say they haven’t been kind to her. In 2012, Demi’s cover didn’t look like her at all. In 2010, the magazine made her pose with ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas to promote one of the Camp Rock movies on the Disney Channel. Poor Demi.
Don’t get me wrong. My daughter’s first (and hopefully last) concert was the Jonas Brothers (she doesn’t know they broke up — shh). Demi received a substantial career boost from appearing as the main player in the two Camp Rock films. In their heyday, the brotherly trio possessed very little musical talent (aside from the youngest, Nick) but did boast some serious money-making charisma. With the aftermath of the JoBros, Demi has been very forthcoming about her rehab visits and
her eating disorder.
Demi does discuss her eating disorder in the interview with Teen Vogue. She also talks about her upcoming story arc on Glee:
On playing Santana’s love interest on Glee: “I’m honored to portray a character that’s representing this chapter in our society. Being true to your sexuality and yourself is becoming the norm.”
On self-acceptance: “I don’t have the body of a model or Barbie. My main thing about being in the spotlight with my fans is, I want to be real to them. I have my problem areas, but I’m happy in my skin right now. I?m not going to sacrifice my mental health to have the perfect body.”
On learning to speak up for herself: “You’ve gotta be honest with people around you. And honest with yourself. When you?re having a rough day, be like, ‘I don’t want to talk about this, but I need to get it off my chest.’ If you have a secret-secrets make you sick.”
[From Teen Vogue]
I know there are a lot of blind items floating around that supposedly point towards Demi, but blind items are “blind” for a very good reason. We shouldn’t place too much stock into sources who cannot reveal the truth, you know? With that said, I wish I believed Demi was truly happy with her body. I want to believe her. I hope that I’m wrong, but ED works in mysterious ways. Whatever the case, Demi does look ravishing in this Teen Vogue spread. The styling is lush and very flattering. The magazine could have chosen a better cover shot, but the rest of the shoot makes up for it.

Demi Lovato covers the August issue of Cosmo magazine, and the cover itself is typical Cosmo style — gaudy colors, cleavage, and the effects of a wind machine. Demi looks good even though I’m still trying to get used to her as a blonde, but those bird tattoos flying up her forearm are … kind of tacky, right? I don’t have any problem with tattoos in general, and Demi’s other tattoos are fine, but those birds? Awful.
Naturally, the interview gets into Demi’s struggles with her recovery, and she hints that she won’t reveal some painful secrets from her past. I know some of you think Demi is full of crap with her recovery talk and rah-rah attitude, but she’s really kept it together ever since going on “X-Factor.” I think there’s something to be said about working with Simon Cowell on a regular basis without having a public meltdown. Demi will turn 21 years old in August and says that she won’t be partying and getting drunk although she’ll miss it. Here are some excerpts:
On her new chapter in life: “It’s a new beginning for me. A year and a half ago, I was frustrated. I was like, there are people on the radio and they’re not even singing — it’s all Auto-Tuned, and I know I can sing. It’s taken me three albums to figure out what works for me.”
On her “stay strong” wrist tattoos: “I got them in North Hollywood, right after I got out of treatment [in 2011]. I thought, there’s no better place for a former cutter to get a tattoo than on a place where they used to self harm.”
She has faith: “I’m not super religious, but I grew up Christian and I believe in God. When I’m in L.A., I don’t talk about it that much because people are very judgmental, but I just feel like God gave me a voice, not just to sing with. He put me through those things, which seemed horrible at the time, but they were so worth it. With the obstacles I’ve overcome, I can help people.”
She wanted to be a child star: “I remember reading about Shirley Temple and looking up at God and being like, Okay, I’m 5. I’m ready.”
On starring on “Barney & Friends”: “Barney could be a little codependent. At the time, I was just so grateful to be on TV, but I was really struggling. Looking back, there was a connection, probably between any kid who’s ever sang that song to Barney, a little place in a child’s heart, a void, that could be filled. And maybe Barney fills it. Even before Barney, I was suicideal. I was 7. With Barney, I guess subliminally, I did have a relationship with this figure that was saving my life in a way.”
Her past is worse than we know: “I’ve talked about being bullied and the years of being a teenager, but I went through things when I was younger that I’ve never talked about that probably caused me to turn out the way I ended up turning out. My family knows what it’s about. When I’m ready to open up that subject with the outside world, then I’ll be free to talk about it. Bur right now, it’s kind of one of those things where the lyrics [of "Warrior"] speak for me. It’s all in the song.”
Let’s talk about Wilmer Valderrama: “If I’m dating someone, you may see me out, but until I’m marriage-serious, I probably won’t walk the red carpet with anyone.”
[From Cosmopolitan]
Hmm. Demi is semi-mysteriously alluding to something traumatic in her past, but she claims her lyrics will reveal all for those who are curious. In “Warrior,” Demi sings, “There’s a part of me I can’t get back / A little girl grew up too fast,” so I am guessing that she’s speaking of childhood abuse at the hands of a (supposedly) trusted adult. Sad.
Even more sadly, Demi’s father has recently passed away, and she attended the funeral this past weekend. In the aftermath, Demi has established the Lovato Treatment Scholarship, and she states that “My father dealt with mental illnesses and he wasn?t able to function in society and that happens to a lot of people. There’s an overwhelming sense of peace knowing my dad is no longer battling his demons anymore and that makes me so happy.” Hopefully, this scholarship will do some good.

In an interview withRolling Stone, the 20-year-old Demi Lovato revealed that when she was 7, her mother and principal made her sign a contract promising she wouldn’t kill herself.
The 20-year-old singer revealed that she has battled depression since she was just 7 years old?when she first felt the spotlight on Barney & Friends.
“The principal called my parents and made me sign this suicide contract saying that I would not kill myself,” she told the mag. “They weren’t expecting that so young.”
I’m not sure how enforceable that is. What were they going to do if she did kill herself? Sue her? Like I said to the judge before I dropped to the floor and closed my eyes, “You can’t sue a dead man!”

Drumming up support for her latest album DEMI, Demi Lovato was all over the place in London, England today (May 28).
The ?Skyscraper? songstress braved the rainy conditions as she stepped out of her swanky hotel and strolled up the street to greet fans.
Demi also paid a visit to her English followers at the HMV store on Oxford Street, signing albums and posing for pictures along the way.
In a new interview, Miss Lovato explained her steady climb to fame. "I had a moment where I was just like, 'What am I doing wrong? I know I can sing. I know I'm talented. How is it that other artists who don't have my vocals ... (are) on the radio? What's taking so long?' And I realized, 'Oh, it's hit songs. You need hit songs.??
As for her new record, Demi gushed, "We didn't want to put a song on there that was an album filler, so we don't have any songs on there that couldn't be potential singles."

Before she went to rehab, Demi Lovato had hundreds of friends, many of whom showed up to her birthday party a couple months beforehand. After she got out of rehab, only 4 of those people texted her.
?A couple of months before I went to rehab, I had a birthday party and there were a couple of hundred people there. It was full of people who I considered my closest friends,? she told Company. ?When I turned my phone on after being in rehab for three months, I expected lots of text messages and phone calls. I had four texts. That was a wake up call.?
To be fair, they were probably all worried she was going to punch them in the face.

She’s adorable. I’d bury my face in those cheeks.
Here is Demi Lovato pulling on a bikini and dove into the clear blue ocean at beach in Barbados. As she emerged from the ocean her trusty bodyguard was there ready and waiting with a towel for the X Factor judge to dry off.
Not content with just sunning herself on the sandy beaches, Demi instead set out on a snorkelling trip, donning flippers as she went for a swim.
