Demi Lovato covers Latina magazine. I really like how they styled her, with a bold dark red lip and rosy eye shadow. Plus Demi has killer brows, she should do brow tutorials. (I’ve been trying to watch those but I don’t have the skill yet to elevate mine to this level. #browgoals.) In the editorial, they put Demi in two different couture gowns with metallic features, either of which would have suited the Met Gala better than the weird Moschino she was wearing. Unlike the photos, the interview is a mixed bag. She does lend her support to Kesha in her fight against Dr. Luke, which she’s done consistently since Kesha went to court. As much of a no brainer that may be to those of us looking in, it’s got to be hard to speak out when you work in that industry. Plus she talks about her support of Hillary Clinton, particularly as it relates to immigration issues. However Demi says some things about Latinos that seem… overly general to put it gently. It’s like she’s trying to relate to the audience but it comes across as a misstep.
On her music career, she “hasn’t peaked yet”
I don?t care about radio hits. When you try hard for that, it doesn?t happen…. I have yet to reach my peak, and also, my voice is better now than it was a year ago. Now I can show people what I can do.
On Kesha’s battle against Dr. Luke
I thought it was extremely brave of a pop star in the industry to come out and talk about that. I do believe it?s very f-ed up that he?s not letting her go, aside from all of the other stuff. I think women artists shouldn?t compete?we have to support each other.
On her relationship with Wilmer Valderrama
When I dated white guys, it wasn?t as passionate as my relationship with Wilmer. Maybe that?s just Wilmer. But I do believe that Latin people are just more expressive, more passionate with their emotions. He?s very manly, and he can be stubborn like Latino men can, but he?s protective and he cares so much and loves so hard. I?ve been blessed enough to have him in my life, and not just as my man, but also my best friend.
Her diet plan
I?ve actually been on a meal plan for almost two years now, because in my recovery I have to surrender control over food to somebody else so I can just focus on my mental state. I?ve been my heaviest in my relationship with Wilmer and also been my thinnest. He?s seen it all and loves me equally, and it gives me confidence to know that.
She supports Hillary
The reason ?I?m with her? is because out of everybody running, she is the most qualified and she will get shit done. I can hopefully help open people?s eyes to how much racism is affecting our country and now infiltrating it in a sense where we might have an incredibly racist Republican candidate. It?s terrifying to think that families can be, and sometimes are, separated on a daily basis.

Demi said a lot of great things here, and she even talked about her advocacy for access to mental health care, and removing the stigma surrounding that. My initial response to hearing her deep thoughts on Latino men is to think she’s stupid and making dumb generalizations, but she’s not dumb. As Kaiser put it to me, Demi is “stupid like a parched fox.” So maybe Demi knows how controversial it is to say that Latin people are more passionate. She knows what will get headlines.
Also, Demi and Wilmer have been together for at least three and a half years this go-around, but they first dated when she was 17 and he was 29. He had a bad reputation back then and it was well deserved. Maybe he’s calmed down.

In this social media-driven world, many celebrities take on their detractors with a tweet or Instagram pic. Demi Lovato did just that after fans gave her grief for not stopping to chat with them. The singer, who just released the video for her new song “Stone Cold”, posted a lengthy note on her Twitter feed. It read as follows:
I try my hardest to stop for as many fans as I possibly can before it gets too hectic or crazy. No matter how long I’ve been doing this, sometimes the madness with the yelling and pushing becomes overwhelming and to avoid people either getting hurt or having more anxiety, I go inside hoping my fans will understand. Today I had 2 instances where I had rude things yelled at me because I didn’t stop for every single person. When stuff like that happens it actually really sucks. It’s not okay and just remember, I’m used to getting hate but I’m human too. So please.. Take your negativity else where.”

This, of course, isn’t the first time Demi has had to take a defensive swipe at her critics. She’s taken on body image issues, feminism and I assume she gets some grief for dating Wilmer Valderrama. Well, she does kind of deserve some flak for that. She’s also had a thing or two to say about her treatment by the media. If you’re in the public eye, you’re going to have your haters. Demi should take a lesson from one of my favorite drag queens, Jinkx Monsoon. Repeat after me, “Water off a duck’s back.”
If affirmation mantras aren’t her thing, she could just focus her energy on her upcoming Future Now tour with Nick Jonas. Fans of the former Disney stars may be treated to a duet or two during the tour. When asked about the possibility of the two sharing the stage, Demi demurred, “We are working out the details, we are trying to figure everything out. We want it to be an unforgettable experience. We are very hands on with all the details. If you ask me in two months I can give you a solid answer.” Sounds like that’s happening. Oh, and I adore the military jacket. The glasses too, but I’m a nerd, so of course I would.

Before hitting the Grammys stage to deliver a pretty solid version of Lionel Richie’s “Hello” (which Lionel himself and Bruno Mars thoroughly enjoyed), Demi Lovato was confident on the red carpet in a suit by Norisol Ferrari. It’s alright, I guess, nothing spectacular. With the plunging neckline, the jacket does lend an edge to the ensemble, and I’m sure the former Disney star turned a head or two with this outfit. I am fascinated by the necklace. It’s giving me a “soda can pull tab” vibe. She wore a white version of the same jacket, paired with black pants, for the Lionel tribute. I did notice that she wasn’t wearing the ring she got from Wilmer for Valentine’s Day. Girl got a weave too. As a blonde who once got extensions (hey, it was the 90s), weaves look better on dark haired women, they’re not quite so obvious. I dig it. Well played for your Grammy debut, Demi.
Chrissy Teigen looked positively angelic in a white gown by Yousef Al-Jasmi. The 30-year-old model dazzled in the neoprene gown, complete with a bling encrusted cape, that showcased her growing baby bump (she and husband John Legend are expecting their first child, a girl). Chrissy accessorized her dress with 20-carat diamond stud earrings and a rectangle ring, both by Lorraine Schwartz, and a second diamond ring by Ofira Jewels.
Apparently the choice to wear this particular gown came sort of last minute for Chrissy. She told People magazine that regarding her fittings, ?I grow two inches every 12 days…not that anyone?s counting. They?re different every time because I keep growing like crazy. But we?re looking at two very different options.? I think she definitely made the right choice here. Hubby John, who won a Grammy for best song written for visual media for ?Glory? (awarded prior to the televised portion of the ceremony), looked dapper in a Gucci tuxedo with copper accents. John also took part in the Lionel Richie tribute, singing the Commodores hit “Easy”. These two are “easy” on the eyes. They make a gorgeous couple.
Best New Artist winner Meghan Trainor wore a sparkly black Michael Costello gown on the red carpet. The singer’s date for the evening was her Dad (which is kind of sweet) and she used the occasion to not only show off a new auburn hair color, but announced that her new album would be available for pre-order “around March 4th.”
Not only did she sing “You Are” during the Lionel Richie tribute, she also delivered an emotional acceptance speech after winning her award. Through her tears, she thanked her team for ?looking at me like an artist? and her parents for ?always believing in [her].? Before leaving the stage, she said, ?I?m a mess, I have to go cry.? So, the dress. It’s elegant, it is situation-appropriate. That’s about it. It looks a little dated (are shoulder pads back?) and makes her look a little bit too old for her 22 years. Her hair looked great and I do love the clutch she’s carrying.

Last week, I posted about Demi Lovato’s recent appearance on Ellen, in which she implied she’d like to see a ring from her beau, Wilmer Valderrama. It looks like the wish fairy showed up at Demi’s doorstep with her requested bling.
Demi, who recently joined Snapchat under the user name @theddlovato (and appears to be still trying to get the hang of it, if this recent Tweet is any indication) re-posted a Snapchatted picture of her new ring on her Instagram account. The photo, of the couple holding hands, was captioned “You are my world, my life, my best friend, my love and my purpose. I love you so much Wilmer…” quickly followed by the disclaimer, “y’all are crazy btw… That is my RIGHT hand and my MIDDLE finger ? I am NOT engaged.” Side note, do Wilmer’s fingernails look a bit janky? My ex-hubby worked a blue collar job and has better looking fingernails. Sorry for that mini-vent, I have a “thing” about guys’ hands.

I never thought I would ever put “Kim Kardashian” and “inspirational” in the same story, but I guess there’s a first time for everything. Disney alum and singer Demi Lovato sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday for a chat and the topic of Demi’s “no clothes, no makeup, no Photoshop” shoot for Vanity Fair came up. Demi, who has had a history of eating disorders and body image issues, told Ellen that seeing Kim Kardashian and her sisters helped her to learn to love her body, explaining:
“When I was growing up, at the kind of age where your body starts changing and you want to be cool, it was in that era of when very, very, very thin people were the popular people in Hollywood,” she explains. “So that’s what I had to look up to. And after having had my issues with eating, looking back I thought, ‘I want to be the difference for people growing up’ because I wish that somebody had gone to me whenever I was 12, 13 and said, ‘Hey, you don’t have to look like that to be cool.’ And when the Kardashians came on the scene, that was the first time that I really associated curves with beauty and it was just so new to me,” she continues. “I remember thinking, ‘Wow, that’s so cool’ and even in a time where I was still struggling with food, I was able to look at Kim’s curves and be like, ‘I should really be proud of my curves.’”

The 23-year-old singer, embarking on the Future Now Tour with Nick Jonas this summer, also dished with Ellen about her boyfriend, actor Wilmer Valderrama. When Ellen brought up the rumor that the two, dating on and off for about 5 years, were engaged, Demi joked “I don’t see a ring!” She quickly added, “I wouldn’t mind if I saw one. But there’s time for everything. We’ve been together this long. Obviously I’m not going anywhere and vice versa.” Last week, Demi posted a photo of Wilmer on her Instagram, wishing him a happy 36th birthday. The caption, in part, read, “I thank God every single day that this man came into my life for so many reasons. But mainly because I’m so blessed to not only have been able to meet such an incredible, loving, funny and inspiring soul, but even more blessed and honored to call him mine.” Oh, she’s smitten. I can maybe muster up an emoji heart on occasion for that special someone, but words are another thing entirely.
This beautiful man turned 36 today. I thank God every single day that this man came into my life for so many reasons.. But mainly because I'm so blessed to not only have been able to meet such an incredible, loving, funny and inspiring soul, but even more blessed and honored to call him mine. I love you My Wilmer. You deserve the world and more.. Here's to so many more memories Feliz Cupleanos..???

Demi Lovato is all smiles on the cover of the February issue of Allure magazine. The 23-year-old singer, gearing up for a summer tour behind her fifth album “Confident,” opens up to the magazine about her issues with her own confidence, growing up Disney and her current relationship with That 70s Show alum Wilmer Valderrama. The self-confessed Pinterest enthusiast, who admits “I had my wedding planned out when I was ten,” says that ever since she was asked to fix a gap in her teeth when she was cast on Camp Rock, her insecurities grew. Thanks to her friends and her Wilmer, she has truly become more confident. Here are some highlights from the interview:
On triumphing over body image issues: “I’ve never felt as confident in my skin as I do today. A year ago, on tour, almost every inch of my body was covered by clothing, and it was because I was hiding behind so many layers. Once I started feeling better about myself, I felt better about showing more skin. I have insecurities about my arms, so to wear a tank top on stage is extremely liberating for me, and uncomfortable sometimes. It’s also a statement, like, ‘Hey, watch out. You’re no longer getting the insecure Demi that you’ve been getting for the past couple of years. I mean business now.’”
On keeping her private life private: “I don’t want to alienate my love life from the public, because it’s such a huge part of who I am. It’s a balancing act. I can’t always let people in as much as they feel like they deserve to be let in.”
On her relationship with her best friend, Marissa: “Sometimes I’ll isolate a little bit. I won’t reply to people’s text messages, or I’ll just distance myself from everyone unintentionally, and she’s the first one to call me out on it. It’s because I’m going through something. I’m stressed or depressed.”
Behind-the-scenes dish from the set of Barney: “The guy who played Barney was actually hot. In order to be in that giant suit all day, sweating and jumping around, you have to be ripped.”

Barney dirt! “Cool story, bro” aside: I actually met the guy who played Barney and, yeah, he was quite attractive. But I digress, I think Demi has successfully overcome the issues that could have crippled her promising career and I am really happy for her. It seems like all she ever talks about is body image though. You can read more in the February issue of Allure, on newsstands now.
