Demi Lovato deserves a lot of credit for being open about her addictions and bipolar diagnosis for years now. Sure we joke that she only covers those topics, but those are her causes and she’s brought awareness and helped reduce the stigma. Now that we know Demi is bipolar it’s easy to look at her twitter feed and her feuds with other celebrities and say “well, we know she has manic episodes,” but I don’t think that’s fair to her. There are so many other celebrities who fight amongst themselves, it’s not necessary to ascribe that behavior to her mental health issues. (Although NPD comes to mind for a few of them.) Demi is more than that, and she told iHeart radio that she dislikes when people use bipolar as a label for her. This distinction may be lost on some people but I get it. She doesn’t like it when people say in a snide way or a way that reduces her to a diagnosis.
?I think it?s important to speak up about the things that you believe in because your voice will be heard no matter what position you?re in,? the ?Sorry Not Sorry? singer said. ?And I just happen to be in a position where more people will hear my voice than they would have 10, 15 years ago. I use my voice to do more than just sing and I use it to speak up about mental health because that?s something I?m very passionate about.?
And while Lovato has been open in the past about her own struggles with mental health, she doesn?t want her own diagnoses to define her.
?I think when people refer to me as being bipolar, it?s something that is true — I am bipolar — but I don?t like people to use it as a label,? the former Disney star explained. ?It?s something that I have, it?s not who I am. I think Demi Lovato, activist, is something that I would really be proud of.?
She added that what you see is what you get when it comes to her life, saying, ?I?d say the whole world knows the real me because there?s nothing that I hide.?
And Lovato also expressed her sympathies regarding the recent death of Linkin Park frontman, Chester Bennington, who committed suicide in late July at the age of 41.
?I feel terrible for his friends and family, but I know that maybe this will raise the topic into conversation around mental illness and mental health and help somebody,? she added.

I really like Demi’s new song “Sorry, Not Sorry” it’s a catchy pop breakup song and I’ve listened to it on repeat a few times. She’s a talented pop artist and more power to her for speaking her truth. She doesn’t appeal to everyone, and she definitely gets on my nerves sometimes, but I like that she’s so blunt and revealing. I don’t know if the whole world knows the real her though. She’s like most other celebrities in that her personal disclosures are calculated and are part of her public image. At least she’s doing it for a good cause.
Speaking of her public image she recently Instagrammed this photo of her enviable abs. It looks either out of focus or filtered. Some of my friends do this on Facebook (I’m so old I’m not on Instagram) and I think it’s just an simple filter to apply. I don’t filter my photos, I figure people realize I don’t look like that in real life so why bother? She’s super fit and it shows, but it’s hard to tell with how smooth her whole body looks. It’s like she doesn’t have a belly button. I like that she admits she’s feeling herself.
I rarely post pics with my belly button showing because I'm normally insecure about showing my full stomach but I've been working really hard and thanks to @d.leith and his yummy food with @lockhartandleith I've been seeing progress so I thought I'd post this cause I'm feeling myself right now!! ????? also can't forget the best gym in the world @unbreakableperformance and my trainers @fatenginethatdoes & @itskimglass ?

I know CB posted these pics already but I thought Demi Lovato killed it in this pantsuit at the Kid’s Choice Awards. I love split leg pants of any sort but she is owning it.
Speaking of owning it, Wednesday marked a huge milestone for Demi ? five years sober. To celebrate this, Demi posted the following on Instagram:
So grateful. It's been quite the journey. So many ups and downs. So many times I wanted to relapse but sat on my hands and begged God to relieve the obsession. I'm so proud of myself but I couldn't have done it without my higher power (God), my family, friends, and everyone else who supported me. Feeling humbled and joyful today. Thank you guys for sticking by my side and believing in me. ??

Demi Lovato is so dedicated to her fitness regime that she hits the gym for four hours a day six days a week. That sounds insane to me but she’s not working out the entire time according to her trainer. She’ll do a kickboxing type cardio routine for an hour and a half, rest for while and then do toning. After that she gets IV fluids(?!) or does cryotherapy, which sounds more punishing than working out to me, to recover. Apparently she loves it and is really into helping other people with their workouts.
Lovato has been working out religiously at L.A.?s Unbreakable Performance Center (where Nick and Joe Jonas also work out) for the past nine months, and has called the gym her ?oasis? on Instagram.
?This is her safe haven,? Unbreakable?s founder Jay Glazer tells PEOPLE. ?Demi will be here for four hours a day. It?s her one place where she doesn?t have to be a pop star. She?s talked a lot about her addictions, and this has become her healthy addiction. She lights up when she comes in here.?
And while Lovato wanted to lean up, her main focus was learning how to fight.
?She?s more coachable than most of our fighters,? says Glazer. ?She doesn?t put ego in, she does it right ? and she is vicious!?
Lovato will start her session with an hour-and-a-half of mixed martial arts.
?Depending on the day of the week, we?ll do boxing, Muay Thai, ground fighting and/or Brazilian jujitsu,? says Glazer. ?Then she?ll do some sort of recovery, and then she?ll go do her performance workout.?
Lovato?s performance workout focuses on full-body toning, so she does exercises with high reps and low weights, with little rest in between.
?It?s very intense,? says Glazer. ?It?s three different exercises three times through with no rest. She?ll do a push, a pull and lower body move, so let?s say a chest push, a pull for your back, and then some sort of squat, but something low-impact that won?t bulk her. At the end we?ll do abs.?
Following her workout, Lovato does 30 minutes of recovery including I.V. therapy twice a week, cryotherapy two or three times a week, Phoenix Thera-Lase medical laser therapy each day that penetrates six inches into the body to encourage healing and reduce swelling and inflammation, and massaging recovery sleeves every day.
?She goes through the plan perfectly,? says Glazer. ?She?s never been late, she shows up, she helps everybody. She?s incredible.?

Like Demi I have some addiction issues and I’ve channeled those into exercise. About four days a week I’ll work out twice – once in the morning and once at night, to total about an hour and a half to two hours. I don’t think it’s a problem for me now but I realize that I need to go easier on myself and that I have to monitor it. It’s definitely more healthy than drinking, which I used to do every night. I guess if you have a lot of time to fill like Demi going to a gym and getting to socialize and get bizarre treatments is a nice way to do it. (If you’re into that.) Plus now we know where she meet that MMA fighter she’s been dating. We need one of those gyms near me.
Also, I want a trainer who lets me punch him like this.

Here is Demi Lovato proving grown up now wednesday night at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand.
The pair are longtime friends, with Lovato spending the early days of her career on the road opening for his boy band, the Jonas Brothers. Wednesday, though, Lovato was the clear headliner with a bigger, bolder production. The pair shared the same backing musicians and each played 50-minute sets, with Jonas up first.

She recently split from longtime beau Wilder Valderrama and looked picture perfect as she basked in the sun, striking a number of seductive poses as she switched positions on a recliner.
Demi was joined by a close pal for the swim session, which was made even sweeter with an indulgent coconut drink.

The pop star was getting in some down time before kicking off her Future Now tour with Nick Jonas tomorrow in Atlanta.

Demi Lovato was just gushing about her boyfriend of (supposedly) six years, Wilmer Valderrama, in an interview with Latina Magazine which came out earlier last month. Demi made some stereotypical statements in that interview, saying that the white guys (her words) she dated weren’t “as passionate as my relationship with Wilmer” and that she believes “that Latin people are just more expressive, more passionate with their emotions.” She also called him “manly,” “stubborn” and “protective” which don’t sound like positive traits.
In that piece, I did the math and calculated that Wilmer and Demi have been together for about three and a half years this time, but noted that they dated previously when she was 17 and he was 29, so there’s some history there. They haven’t been together the entire time though and now they’ve split. In their statement, which they each posted to their social media accounts, they claimed that they’re breaking up after nearly six years together and that they’re better as “best friends.”

Demi Lovato wore this Chanel suit to the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. Judging from the Chanel looks we saw at Cannes, Lagerfeld (or his minions more likely) have been dialing it in lately. This looks cheap, it’s just a lingerie look top with a black and sparkly blue pinstripe suit jacket and wide pants. In fact I thought this might be McQueen, just going by Chloe Grace Moretz’s recent nightie dress. (I’m crap at identifying designers though.)
On the red carpet, Demi looked like she was shaking a little bit and she covered her eyes a few times. It looked like she was getting panicky, the flashes were bright and it was very sunny out, but she composed herself and seemed ok after that. She killed her performance of “Cool For The Summer,” which is no surprise since Demi is a powerhouse performer. You can see that here. Demi wore a mesh shirt onstage with an overlay of the transgender bathroom symbol, which was nice. She and Nick Jonas previously canceled shows in North Carolina in alliance with the LGBT community. So this was a show of support.

Here’s Tove Lo, she performed “Close” with Nick Jonas ahead of Demi’s performance. They were really hot together and it was one of many excellent, rousing performances last night. (You can see a clip with a lot of commentary here, it’s been hard to find the videos online.) Her fashion on stage was pretty cool, a black suit with a cutout stomach. On the red carpet though, she wore this red crochet Stella McCartney mess. It showed off her hot figure but the overall look is very Woodstock meets Bonnaroo. At least her styling fits.
