As we know by now, Demi Lovato and her boyfriend of four months, Max Elrich, got engaged in a very picturesque beach setting ? and by picturesque, I mean perfectly curated, framed and lighted. Max presented Demi with a huge emerald-cut diamond set with proportionally large side diamonds. Thanks to TMZ, we now know that this baby set ?Max? back between $2.5M-$5M and that the price tag is supposedly because of the cut:
Now TMZ is reporting that the ring is worth anywhere from $2.5 to $5 million, all because it?s a ?special cut? from super fancy celebrity jeweler Peter Marco. Ooo, ahhhh, a Marco original! TMZ?s sources say the rock weighs somewhere between 10-20 carats, and is ?an emerald cut that was handset in platinum, and flanked on all sides by smaller (only relatively) trapezoid-shaped diamonds designs.?
Sources say Max wanted the ring?s design to be ?unique?, and worked closely with Peter Marco to pair the big elongated stone with the perfect side stones, until it was ?just right?. Well, the finished product certainly puts the ?extra? in extravagant.

The ring is massive and the clarity on those diamonds is gorgeous. I won?t lie, the minute I saw this I started scouring my fake jewelry sites for a faux-cocktail version. I love dramatic, ?that can?t be real? bling. I found a few CZ look-alikes, but they?re $150 and that?s way over my flashy jewelry budget. So, as you can imagine, I would never consider putting a $5M version of this ring on my finger. I have to believe any ring with that price tag just feels heavier. At first, I balked at the idea that Max had anything to do with designing this ring but honestly, I know a lot of men who would come up with a completely standard design (?but make it bigger!?) and call it their own inspired vision.
Demi looks thrilled with it so clearly it?s her style. If this is the ring she wanted then Max got it all right, and that?s a good way to kick off a betrothal. That price, though. Paris Hilton?s 20 carat emerald cut diamond engagement ring cost $2M, so every cent over that is the designers ego tax he tacked on. It?s an absurd amount of money, sure but I also think these poor guys got ripped off. I hope it maintains its inflated value if this is an investment piece. As I said, I love the drama of the ring and would love an affordable knockoff in my collection. But tastes change over time and sometimes I wonder if these couples consider that when they go all in for these huge pieces. And I hate to be cynical but something this distinctive will set the paparazzi off if she?s spotted without it. The headlines will be: Demi spotted without her Lake Michigan sized diamond ? trouble in paradise? Still, she?s happy so I?m happy for her. Plus, she?ll never have to worry about forgetting her compact, she can just use her diamond to check her teeth for leftover kale!

Demi Lovato sang the National Anthem ahead of the Super Bowl. The artists selected for this gig have a different set of criteria than the ones selected for the Halftime show, have you noticed that? They?ll hire people not known for the strength of their voices for the Halftime show, but the NFL hires people (usually women) who can really SING for the National Anthem. I get that. It would disrespectful to a difficult-to-sing song to hire someone who is just going to phone it in. And Demi IS known for having a strong voice. So? how did she do?
I think she did great! A touch nervous at the start, but she warmed up quickly and hit all the notes. Unfortunately, the singing of anthem is not just about the song these days of course there were cutaway to all of the football players, and it appeared as if all of them stood for the anthem, and some even sang along. No protests, no kneeling? from the football players. Beyonce and Jay-Z were in attendance at the Super Bowl though, and they didn?t stand for the anthem:

Demi Lovato could have died from an overdose she suffered this July after taking an aftermarket opioid drug. We know what she took because the person who supplied her, a guy named Brandon Johnson, did an interview with the paparazzi. Luckily someone close to Demi had the rescue drug Narcan on hand and was able to revive her. Demi spent over a week in hospital battling a high fever and withdrawal symptoms. When she recovered she went to a rehab far from home. Demi has since reached 90 days sober and she intends to stay in rehab until the end of the year. Demis mom was on Maria Menounoss podcast last week. She said that Demi is doing well and that shes very proud of her. She also said that she knew Demi wasnt sober before her relapse but that Demi is an adult and theres nothing she could have done about it, basically. Heres the news with her plan to stay in rehab as well as some quotes from Demis mom.
?Demi is planning to stay in rehab through the end of the year and is doing well and focused on herself,? a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. ?She is committed to the rehabilitation process.?
A second insider previously told Us that Lovato, 26, ?will come back hard in the new year, but as of now, there?s going to be no work activity for the rest of the year,? as the former Disney star will remain in rehab ?for the remainder of the year.? From US
Demi Lovato has reached 90 days of sobriety, according her mother, Dianna De La Garza.
She has 90 days, she confirmed in an interview on Maria Menounos? Sirius XM show Friday (Oct. 26). I couldnt be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, its work. Its very hard. Its not easy, and there are no shortcuts.
Her mother admitted she cant really say for sure what led to her daughters relapse.
I knew that she wasnt sober, De La Garza said of Lovato, who apologized for no longer being sober in her ballad Sober, released in June. I didnt know what she was doing because she doesnt live with me and shes 26.
De La Garza recounted the moment she found out about Lovatos overdose, saying that text messages alerted her that something had happened. The one text message that clued me in on what was going on said, I just saw on TMZ and Im so sorry, she said. Before I could get to TMZ, I got the phone call from her assistant and she said, Were at the hospital. So then I knew, OK, shes not gone. Shes here. And I said, Whats going on? And the words that I heard are just a nightmare for any parent: Demi overdosed. From Billboard

I cant imagine having to worry about losing a child to addiction. This is such an epidemic and it affects so many families. I have at least two friends with adult children who are addicts and its heartbreaking for them.
Demi is also selling her mansion and has recently lowered the price. E! has some more quotes about how Demi isnt sure if shes even going to return to LA when shes out of rehab. She is said to be really receptive in recovery and to be considering a move to Texas to be near family. Shes making all the right moves and I hope to see her come back stronger and more importantly sober. Its to her credit that shes planning to move when she gets out of rehab and that shes taking her recovery so seriously. I hope she eases back into work and doesnt just go back to the same grueling schedule either. I do miss her outfits though.

Demi Lovato was spotted out this April with a drink in hand, which was curiously photoshopped out of some social media posts. She got defensive and claimed at the time that it was Red Bull, but its possible that she was fibbing about a relapse. Demi has a new song in which she admits that she drank again. Shes also made some posts to Twitter suggesting it. Demi was sober for six years this March.

Elsewhere in the song, she apologizes for the ?drinks spilled on the floor? and admits, ?I wanna be a role model / But I?m only human ? I?m sorry that I?m here again / I promise I?ll get help / It wasn?t my intention / I?m sorry to myself.?
The former Disney star hinted on Twitter numerous times in the last month that her ?truth? was coming ? and that not everyone would be happy with it.
?There?s nothing like the truth. The honest to God, uncomfortable and shocking truth. Sometimes you have to share your story in the most honest way possible? for me that?s through music,? she wrote in May, adding, ?Sometimes you have to end an era to begin talking about a new chapter of your life.?
She also hinted days later that she?d made some changes to her lifestyle and inner circle.
?I feel like I?ve grown more in the past two months than I have in years. I feel like a new woman and I?m so grateful for my life today,? she wrote on June 1.

I recently ran into a guy I knew from AA (I dont go anymore but Im still sober) and he confessed to me that hed relapsed but that he was afraid to go back to meetings, where he would get lectured to by old timers. Thats his personal issue, but its also indicative of AA and all or nothing thinking. Smart Recovery and rational emotive therapy discourage this. If you drank once or a few times after youve been sober for a handful of years its not like all is lost. You just had years of sobriety which is awesome. Go back to being sober and dont make it worse by wallowing. (Smart recovery also recommends abstinence. I dont think people with drinking problems can successfully moderate, but of course thats individual. Edit: I also want to say that I encourage people to go to AA and that it did help me.)
Demi has helped people by being open about her sobriety and her relapse, but like a lot of things she does I dont think other people are her motivation.

Before this latest incident I used to like Demi Lovato, her music is generally catchy and good she can really belt it out, and lately shes seemed like she has her act together. Demi has a history of showing her ass on social media though, and that happened over the weekend again during a Q&A on Twitter. She was asked about the funniest prank shes ever pulled and her answer was awful.
Thats just unacceptable, not only to do that to someone of course thats planning for them to be sexually assaulted, but to laugh about it too. Even if she didnt know that the prostitute would grab her bodyguard, she still hired a sex worker to surprise him and then bragged about the fact that the woman assaulted him. Then, when Twitter users called her out for that she got defensive, played the victim and then eventually issued a literal Im sorry if you were offended response.
I swear I could tweet something about craving jelly beans and it would offend someone.

You guys, I think I have become a Demi Lovato Convert. I used to not really care about her, but I have increasingly become a fan. I sing along to her songs, I give her props when she openly thirst-traps Henry Cavill, and I found myself nodding along with her as I read this People Magazine interview. Demi has always been open about her body image struggles and her eating disorders, and she?s come to the point – at the age of 25 – where she?s just stopping the cycle. She no longer diets, but she admits that it will always be a struggle to avoid disordered eating patterns. Some highlights:
The struggle with body positivity: ?It?s a daily battle. Some days I feel great and some days I don?t feel great. And sometimes it?s periods of times. I stopped dieting and have gained a little weight so it?s been a struggle but at the same time, I?m happier because I?m not restricting myself from certain foods and I?m no longer food shaming myself.?
Giving up dieting & giving up food shaming: ?I think that?s something in our society we get caught up in diet culture. Every commercial on TV is either about a weight loss pill or piece of fitness equipment or it?s all food-based. As someone recovering from a food disorder, it?s something that I want to put out there that you don?t have to diet in order to be happy. I don?t think I?ve heard that message out there in the public and of course, it?s important to be healthy and everything in moderation is fine.?
Why she?s been open about all of this on social media: ?I wanted to put that message out there for other people especially with the new year coming in because it?s very triggering for people that are in recovery because everything is about weight loss. Because new year?s resolutions are about going to the gym and it?s really important that there?s somebody out there to speak up and say, ?Hey your weight doesn?t define your self-worth and it definitely doesn?t define your beauty inside and out.? ?
Why she posts sexy photos on social media: ?I think posting sexy pictures are so empowering and liberating. Anytime you can put yourself out there the more empowering I feel. Also it doesn?t hurt when you look good and you have a good bathing suit on and then a cute guy likes your picture. Doesn?t hurt.?

I?ve said that I feel like some young women simply ?outgrow? disordered eating patterns. For some women, obviously, it will be a lifelong struggle. But I always felt like I simply outgrew my own disordered eating patterns from my teenage years, like I just got to an age and mindset where I stopped caring so much about being a certain size and just started enjoying my life and eating what I wanted to eat. I feel like Demi has sort of come to a similar conclusion – obviously, she still struggles and she?s had a lot of therapy, but she?s also just… matured. And let?s not forget, ?diet culture? is a real thing, and in Demi?s circles, diet culture is being called ?wellness? and ?clean living? and such. It?s just dieting by another name, really. Anyway, I applaud Demi for her growth and for talking about it publicly.
