These are some new photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie out to dinner in Cannes last night. Brad seems to be wearing a charcoal-colored suit, white shirt and no tie, with his hair slicked back into some kind of fancy mullet (praise it). Angelina seems to be wearing a fitted white v-neck dress that I would like to see more of - it looks flattering, and very much UNLIKE the sack dresses she prefers for the red carpet. I could be wrong, but I thought I also spied a classic Louis Vuitton monogram purse in her hand too. Angelina was recently shooting the LV ads with Annie Leibovitz in Cambodia, and I can?t wait for those to come out.
Later today is the big evening red carpet for Tree of Life, Brad?s film with Terrence Malick. Brad and Angelina are both expected for the red carpet, and I?ll have the pics from the Tree of Life photo call up in just a moment (just Brad, no Angie). First, I wanted to talk about the news that came out yesterday - Angelina?s Bosnian love story movie has found a distrubuter, got a release date, and most importantly, Angelina finally gave it a title. She?s calling it? In the Land of Blood and Honey. Meh.
FilmDistrict has been tapped to release Angelina Jolie?s feature directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey, which is now slated to open Dec. 23 in the U.S.
The pact was announced Sunday in Cannes by Graham King and his producing partner Tim Headington, together with Peter Schlessel, CEO of FilmDistrict, the new production and distribution company that GK Films launched last year.
GK Films also produced the film, which Jolie wrote as well as directed.
Land is set against the backdrop of the Bonsian Civil War in the 1990s, and Jolie said, ?The film is specific to the Bosnian War, but it?s also universal. I wanted to tell a story of how human relationships and behavior are deeply affected by living inside a war.?
It stars Zana Marjanovic (Snow), Goran Kostic and Rade Serbedzija (In the Rain). Jolie worked with a completely local cast, filming the project in both Serbo-Croation, the language spoken at the time of the war, and English. FilmDistrict will be releasing the English-language version.
?The former Yugoslavia has a rich history of dramatic arts. The cast was extraordinary. I was privileged and honored to work with them and I am very excited for everyone to see their immense talent,? Jolie added.
The project reteams Jolie with King, who produced last year?s thriller The Tourist, in which she starred with Johnny Depp.
?Working with Angelina on this film and story has been a great collaboration and I am extremely proud of this film,? said King. ?The filmmaking is impeccable, and signals the arrival of a visceral and compelling storyteller.?
GK Films has several other titles that will also be released stateside in the fall: The Rum Diary, starring Depp, will be released by FilmDistrict on Oct. 28, and Martin Scorsese?s foray into 3D, Hugo Cabret, will be distributed by Paramount on Nov. 23.
Jolie, who has been in Cannes this week to promote DreamWorks Animation?s Kung Fu Panda 2, in which she voices the character of the Tigress, directed the 2007 documentary A Place in Time before making her current move into helming a narrative feature.

We talked a little bit about this film on Friday, and I came clean about my qualms regarding how bad I think this film was going to be. Some super-cool Brangeloonies then QUESTIONED MY LOYALTY to the Brangelina Brand, and even doubted my membership to the club. Look? I love some Angelina. But the skinny bitch doesn?t walk on water, and I honestly think the film is probably going to suck. It truly doesn?t sound good. That being said, I will defend her right to make any movie she wants, and I will defend her because I think her heart was in the right place. I don?t think In the Land of Blood and Honey is going to be offensive, not do I think it?s some sort of terrible story about a rape victim falling in love with her rapist. I just think it?s probably going to be a boring, somewhat preachy movie, and the worst thing I?ve heard about it thus far is that Angelina shot the entire thing in English and Bosnian (Serbo-Croatian) because she didn?t know which she wanted. Seriously, that does not bode well. She should have figured that out before she even began filming.

Closing out the weekend with a romantic night on the town, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stopped by Tetou restaurant in Golfe Juan, France on Sunday (May 15).
The Hollywood power couple both looked dapper as they were helped past a crowd of gathered paparazzi and oglers to be loaded into an awaiting chauffeured vehicle.
Brad and Angelina's dinner outing comes as Miss Jolie is fresh off of promoting her movie "Kung Fu Panda 2" at Cannes while Pitt will be boosting interest in his picture titled "The Tree of Life" at the annual French Riviera located festival this coming week.

Angelina Jolie is here at the Cannes Film Festival promoting Kung Fu Panda 2, and although she isridiculouslybeautiful, she is starting to really get that malnourished look to her. You know, where your hands and feet start looking too big for your arms and legs, which take on a twig-like appearance themselves. Combine that with the linear tattoos on her shoulder, and she’s like a poster child for putting a happy spin on an Auschwitz prisoner. Like, Hitler’s PR men told him, “You know, maybe people wouldn’t be so adverse to going to our camps if we took a really beautiful prisoner, dressed her up, and handed her over to a really good makeup artist, and then took pictures of her waving and looking happy, and put her on a poster that said, “Hitler’s Concentration Camps–Where Beautiful People Are Happy”–or something like that”. But we all know there’s nothing funny about concentration camps, so now that I was trying to make a joke about it, you can all hate me now.

As we saw yesterday, Angelina Jolie did the photo call for Kung Fu Panda 2 wearing this beige Ferragamo sack. I kind of hate the sack, but everything non-sack-related, I adore. Angelina?s face? when the light hits it, you get it. It?s the ?aha moment? in Oprah speak. ?Aha, that?s why she?s considered one of the most beautiful women in the world!? So, these are just some additional photos from the KFP photo call, because Jolie didn?t make any red carpet appearances last night, boo! I know Angelina and Brad are due on the Tree of Life red carpet on Monday, but I don?t know if she or Brad will make any kind of appearances before then.
Yesterday, I read this funny story that I just wanted to share. New York Magazine covered the KFP press conference at Cannes, and their description of what went down is kind of hilarious. All of the reporters just wanted to ask Angelina questions, and she even fielded questions about international incidents. Like she?s the president.
Press conferences are a strange beast of journalism in any case, but try going to one about a cartoon Chinese bear featuring random, impertinent questions from reporters from seemingly every continent on the planet, except for maybe Antarctica. Then throw in the incongruous pairing of Angelina Jolie with Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman, and you might get close to the bizarre experience that was the Kung Fu Panda 2 press conference at Cannes this morning.
The questions centered mostly on Jolie?s children, Jolie’s motherhood, Jolie playing tough women, Jolie playing a tigress, Jolie?s great popularity in China, what Jolie thinks about bin Laden (?I?m here in the context of Kung Fu Panda; I?d rather not get into such a heavy issue?), and when Jolie was going to come visit China. No one asked when Jolie was going to adopt a Chinese baby, but we got there five minutes late.
The last time the Kung Fu Panda gang was at Cannes, Black accidentally spilled the beans about Jolie?s pregnancy, and then Hoffman spilled the beans about her due date, overtaking the news cycle. This time around, both kept mostly quiet, seemingly amused by the single-mindedness of the room?s hive mind. Not prompted by any question, Hoffman leaned into the mike and said, ?I do feel if we had a male director, I would have had a bigger part.? Later: ?Since I finally got asked a question ? ? One reporter asked the group, ?Where do you find inner peace?? Hoffman replied, “I?ve never been so at peace as I am at this moment, being this famous, in front of all these cameras, and sitting next to Angelina.?
When another reporter asked the group about their favorite cartoons growing up, Hoffman said, ?Being perhaps the oldest person in the room ? if anyone is older, please stand now ? I remember the first film I ever saw was Bambi.? No one stood. He also cited a rendition of Pinocchio in which the puppet lays too close to the fire and has his legs burnt off. ?What version did you see?!? asked a horrified Jolie.

Other Brangelina stories - they?re being sued by a former secretary who worked at their French estate. The chick is suing for $75,000 for? I?m not sure. She was fired for ?absenteeism? but she claims she was on sick leave. Meh. And there was also this story in the Enquirer this week:
When Brad Pitt filmed a totally uncredited cameo for the new Bosnian War film/ love story baby-momma Angelina Jolie?s directing, it was just for a giggle ? he and Ange thought it?d be fun to see whether moviegoers would spot him in his blink-and-ya-miss-it role playing a soldier shot by a sniper ? but suddenly, Brad?s brief scene?s NO laughing matter.
Director Jolie just fired the first shot in what?s shaping up to be ?World War 3? with the film?s producers! Said a behind-the-scenes insider: ?Trouble started brewing when Angelina turned over the final cut of the film, which still has the working title of ?Untitled Bosnian Love Story? ? but at three hours screen time, it?s way too long. It needs to be cut to two hours and a half, or less. After viewing it, editors recommended cutting Brad?s surprise cameo. It?s a short, valiant death scene ? but not significant to the story line, so producers told director Jolie to chop it.?
Angelina?s ?Tomb Raider? response: I?LL BE CHOPPING, BOYS ? BUT IT WON?T BE BRAD?S SCENE! ?She was furious, and immediately pulled rank as the film?s director and writer,? said the source. ?She told the powers-that-be that Brad?s scene stays… period! Angelina knows that because the news that Brad shot the scene leaked to the press, fans will thrill to the challenge of trying to spot the superstar ? so she?s flatly refused to ?kill? her live-in?s death scene.?
And why would producers kill a built-in publicity coup like that? Stay tuned.

Once again, meh. I might have to turn in my Brangeloonie Platinum Membership Card, but I am so not excited about Angelina?s Bosnian film. I think the whole thing - while made with good intentions - sounds like a hot mess, a disaster of epic proportions. I?m not looking forward to the release, because I feel like Angelina is going to bashed soundly, and she will deserve a great deal of it.
Sigh? let?s just go back to looking at pretty pictures.

Angelina Jolie and Jack Black were in Cannes promoting Kung Fu Panda 2 yesterday. Angelina looked amazing. More so than at those stuffy awards shows where she wears whatever the hell movie stars from the 50?s wear.
And if you hadn’t read, while she was at Cannes, she was asked about her newest tattoo. No one thought it was a big secret, especially Angelina, because she gave the interviewer a quizzical look like he was a complete imbecile.
“Well, if they know that it’s latitude and longitude they would have figured out quickly that it was Brad’s birthplace. It doesn’t take much investigation to figure that one out. It’s Shawnee, Oklahoma.”
Big non-mystery solved. I’m glad the interviewer asked because it’s not like he could have plugged the coordinates into Google maps or anything.

Making the most of her time in the French Riviera, Angelina Jolie was spotted at a photo call for ?Kung Fu Panda 2? this morning (May 12).
The ?Mr. and Mrs. Smith? actress was joined by fellow actors Jack Black
and Dustin Hoffman as part of the 64th Cannes International Film Festival goings on.
Along with Ms. Jolie, her partner Brad Pitt will also be making an appearance at Cannes for his new film ?The Tree of Life.?
Ang and Brad are expected to walk the red carpet together for Pitt?s premiere this coming Monday.

I published this Angelina Jolie story later in the day yesterday, because I knew I was going to be consumed by NEW JOLIE PHOTOS today. The photo call for Kung Fu Panda 2 has already gone down, and I think Jolie and Brad Pitt are due at the big evening premiere tonight?? Maybe. I?m seeing that the Tree of Life premiere isn?t happening until Monday, and I thought that was happening tonight. Ten bucks says that whenever Jolie appears on an evening red carpet, she?ll be wearing either A) A glittery sack or B) black. No, I shouldn?t be so harsh. For Cannes, Angelina sometimes tries something new. Fingers crossed that Angelina wears something awesome.
As for La Jolie at the KFP 2 photo call - she looked nice. Her skin looked great (her skin has been looking amazing for months now). Her hair was okay (not great but not bad). And she wore a glorious beige sack and cinched it with a belt. PRAISE IT. Here are some quotes from Angelina at the KFP press conference:
On violence in KFP2 and showing her kids violent films: “You have to know your children. There are children that have a better understanding and are ready earlier than others. But for a film like this, I don’t see this as a film that’s too violent. I think this is actually quite the opposite because the strength, even in the final battle, the inner peace and sending back that negative energy is what wins. My boys are in martial arts classes. Boys are boys and they have a certain kind of energy, naturally. It’s been wonderful to get them focused on martial arts to teach them about the discipline and the respect and the control of their own bodies. I think to ignore that that’s a part of humanity, especially little boys, is wrong. So it’s to help guide them ? what?s a positive thing, what’s a good guy, To try not to [use violence] certainly, but if you have to, to defend yourself.”
On bringing the kids to Cannes: “Yes, we’re all in France. Our whole family is in France and we’re very happy. They’re running around the hotel right now, playing games and making a giant mess, I’m sure. They’re having a great time. They love it here. Cannes can be overwhelming and it can be that you meet a lot of friendly faces and have a good laugh and you also get a chance to see some great films. It’s very nice.”
On picking KFP2 to appeal more to her kids: “We’re all big kids at heart…but in many ways I did it for them and I was excited for them to see it. The trick of a sequel is you have to make it better than the first one, which is hard to do especially when the first one is so successful, and I think we pulled it off.”
On finding inner peace: “Especially for people that have children. You wake up and if they’re healthy, you know that that’s the most important thing, so you have first of all that peace. They also come with a lot of chaos, but we’re all searching for it. It’s part of the human journey. We all have moments of inner peace and we lose it and we look for it again. But really it’s in knowing the people you love are safe and healthy. That’s the best.”
On her real life alter ego to all her tough characters: “Certainly my alter ego is who I am 100%, which is a mommy who is changing diapers and coloring all night long. I’m sure I’m very very soft. I’ve always been drawn to strong characters and I admire strong women, emotionally and physically, just people I feel are fighting for something. . .have a sense of justice and injustice. I’ve been very lucky that I came to my career at a time that women are being allowed these roles and have such great opportunities for these types of characters.”

Sounds good. I?m sure some people will react poorly to her comments about exposing her kids to violence, but I think she sounds like a mom who has actually thought about all of those issues long and hard, and come up with the solutions that work for her. Plus, I think the Jolie-Pitt kids are exposed to real-life scenarios where they see the real effects of violent societies - she and Brad let the kids meet wounded veterans, refugees, etc.
Back to the photo call - Jack Black was predictably hyperactive, and he and Angelina are totally cute together. Dustin Hoffman was there too! My favorite photos are the ones of Angelina making a face as she embraces the panda.

USA Today has a great interview with Angelina Jolie and Jack Black, who are promoting their work in Kung Fu Panda 2. Since I don?t have kids, I can?t speak with any real knowledge about how much or how little kids liked the first Kung Fu Panda movie, but I?ve seen parts of it on television, and it looked pretty cute. Jack Black?s voice work is stellar, and it?s hilarious to me that Dustin Hoffman was playing ?The Master? or whatever. Anyway, Angelina and Jack have an easy chemistry together, and it?s a great read. You can read the whole thing here, at USA Today, and here are some highlights:
Jolie talks about her kids coming to the recording studio when she did her voice work: “They know when Mommy’s funny and when Mommy’s not funny? They’ll sit in a room and say, ‘That’s just not funny?? [it kept me] competitive, even if they think Jack Black is always cooler than Mom.”
Jack Black?s kids don?t know he?s Po the Panda: “The kids just think Kung Fu Panda is an actual bear? But we act out our own scenes, go on our own adventures. The story gets a little disjointed; we usually forget our mission by the time we get in the living room. But we don’t care. I’m learning my kids are funnier than I am.”
Jolie hates her voice: “You know, when you hear your own voice, you can find it quite boring and uninteresting? Suddenly, you get very shy that your voice is not enough, because I’m not musical and I don’t know my voice.”
Jolie on meeting Black 7 years ago for Shark Tale: “I was crazy about him? I had seen him in everything he’d done, but what I really knew him for was music. I don’t have musical talent, so I always thought it was really cool that he could be an actor to a lot of us but equally a rock star.?
Black on meeting Jolie: “When I first met Angie, I was clearly taken aback by her beauty. She has a powerful presence.”
Jolie on showing the kids an early print of KFP 2, which deals with adoption and Po finding his birth father: “I wondered how they’d respond to the themes of the film? [Brad and I were] sensitive to see if there was going to be a big discussion that night about adoption and orphanages.” There wasn’t. “But that’s because we talk about those issues at my house all the time, very openly. We’ve had those discussions so often, they’re such happy, wonderful discussions.”

Angelina also tells USA Today that Empress Zahara ?loves tigers? so Z is the one most into Jolie?s voice work as Tigress. I think the other kids like Po more - obviously, because Po is much cooler and funnier. There?s also a lot of stuff about how the first KFP was a HUGE international hit, and how they?re trying to do something different with the story this time. I?m sure it will work out - these animated films usually do, especially when there?s a built-in audience of kids who watch the first DVD obsessively.

This story comes on the heels of the non-story that the Jolie-Pitt children are being raised by an educating, bilingual nanny army. At the time, I thought ?meh? because we all know that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have nannies, and having high hiring standards just seems like a smart choice. Now InTouch Weekly is dialing up the Scandal-Meter by getting into specific (alleged) numbers for the cost of the Jolie-Pitts? childcare. InTouch (via The Mail) thinks that Angelina and Brad are paying about $1 million per child, per year. Let?s see the breakdown, shall we?
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie spend a staggering $10 million (6.1 million) on childcare for their brood, it was claimed today. The superstar couple rack up huge child care, travel and food bills every month looking after their six kids. As well as spending $5 million (3.1 million) on private jets, the Hollywood pair splashed out $900,000 (541,000) last year on a nanny for each of the children.
Feeding adopted Maddox, nine, Pax, seven, Zahara, six, Shiloh, four, and biological twins Knox and Vivienne, two, meanwhile costs around $36,000 (22,000 ). And having a nanny for each of them costs up to $900,000 (541,000).
A source told a US magazine In Touch: ‘They spend more than a million dollars on private tutors who travel around the world with them. They [even] once spent $500,000 (301,000) for one stay at the Waldorf [Astoria hotel in New York].?
The couple also spent an estimated several million dollars on first-class airfare and hotel bills for the youngsters. Representatives for Pitt, 47, and Jolie, 35, were not available for comment. The news comes just days after it was revealed that the couple were on the hunt for a new nanny.
The pair are apparently prepared to pay a 90,000 a year salary for the lucky applicant. They will also be required to travel between California, New Orleans and France, as well as other film locations around the world.
As well as a degree in education or child development, Brad and Angelina are demanding the nanny should speak at least two different languages, as well as the native tongues of their children.
Brad’s parents, Bill and Jane, recently moved in to the family’s Chateau Miraval estate in France to help the couple raise their large brood - meaning the nannying position may not be a lifetime role.
A source told The Sun earlier this week: ‘The whole family is going to move there as soon as the renovations are done. At the moment they have six nannies - one for each of the kids - and the plan is to get rid of the helpers and rely on Bill and Jane. The annex they will live in is an old building which used to be used as a dovecote. It’s big enough to have a sitting room, kitchen and a couple of bedrooms. It will make a lovely little cottage for them.’

Let?s see? other costs: kids? clothing, per year is allegedly $100,000. $5 million spent on private jets in a year (why not?) and $600 a day on cars. Oh, and each kid gets a $7000 birthday party. And don?t forget the high cost of gerbil maintenance. That could easily run you a cool million per year, adjusting for the requisite gerbils-of-doom cost of living adjustment. The gerbils know too much. But it?s easier to pay them off and maintain them rather than kill them off.
And no one is discussing the cost of Zahara?s empress maintenance!

Angelina Jolie has just signed on for a worldwide ad campaign for designer Louis Vuitton. A source says Jolie will be paid close to $10 million for being the face of LV. Shooting Jolie will be famed photographer Annie Leibowitz. Previously, Jolie had endorsement deals with St. John and Shiseido.
This is both a good get for Angelina and LV. LV gets to market itself as a wealthy brand using one of the most famous celebrities out there who has little or no controversy surrounding them and is widely loved and Angelina gets $10 million. Seems like a fair deal. Much better than the one Louis Vuitton made with me which was “leave the building now and we won’t call the cops.” Those guys are tough negotiators.
Side note: Aw, crap. Angelina Jolie has the Madonna arm thing going on. She’s about 1% fat right now.
