Honestly, I love everything about Michelle Williams these days. I now see her as one of the best actresses of her generation, that?s how good she was in Fosse/Verdon. Her style has finally changed too she dressed like a sophisticated woman in her 30s, as opposed to a Civil War ghost or her usual virgin-widow-bride style. Louis Vuitton does so many women dirty, but they really gave Michelle a great dress for the Emmys: it?s simple and beautiful and it suits her. The color is great on her too.
Michelle ended up winning the Best Actress Emmy for the Fosse/Verdon miniseries. Well-deserved, again she was phenomenal in it. In her speech, Michelle spoke about how she received equal pay and equal respect at every part of the production:
"My bosses never presumed to know better than I did about what I needed in order to do my job and honor Gwen Verdon." #FosseVerdonFX star Michelle Williams thanks her studios during her acceptance speech for lead actress in a limited series https://t.co/WmT1Fmyol4 #Emmys pic.twitter.com/DDF1ONJV7Z

I watched the first half of the Fosse/Verdon miniseries when it first aired, and I watched the last half over the weekend. It really is a brilliant series, and it?s one of those rare moments in television where the producers and writers figured out how to structure the dang thing BEFORE they started shooting. The original intention was to do a straight up miniseries about Bob Fosse. But then they realized that to tell Fosse?s story, they needed to tell the story of his relationship with his wife and collaborator and career partner Gwen Verdon. Michelle Williams plays Verdon and she was given equal time, equal pay and equal weight-of-character to Sam Rockwell?s Fosse. And it?s brilliant. Their chemistry, their scenes together and apart, and just the incredible amount of detail in both of those performances. Michelle absolutely kills it at Verdon I honestly didn?t know Michelle had the range to play that kind of role.
Anyway, Michelle and Sam obviously are coming for all the Emmys. I haven?t seen much Emmy campaigning from Sam, but that doesn?t surprise me he?s not much of a campaign-season hustler anyway. Michelle is happy to campaign though, which is why she gave a lovely, in-depth interview to Vulture?s Emmy issue. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
Playing Gwen Verdon: ?It?s so much to play. She would accentuate a sentence where a normal human being wouldn?t. How is she going to sit on that chair? How is she going to collapse? How is she going to wipe away a tear?? She had a sense of who people wanted her to be, and she wanted to deliver. I want to be a tiny little ball as a person, and when I started researching this, I was like, Fk, this is going to be good for me. Her nature is so opposite of mine. And I?m going to have to expand myself as a human being in order to play her.?
She was reticent to work in TV again after Dawson?s Creek: ?When I got out of television, it felt like a stain on you. It was hard work to erase it and to ask to be looked at in a different new way?. Scripts come at you and you have no say. You feel like an eternal child,? she says, noting that while grateful for the experience on that show, she didn?t want to return to that feeling. ?I was afraid of putting myself in a position where I was going to commit to something and then eventually be asked to do something that I didn?t want to do.?
Being an equal partner on the show, complete with equal pay: ?They gave me the support I needed, and for them that took the form of putting their money where their mouth is.? FX paid for the dance lessons she asked for, and opened the dance studios when she needed them, and even agreed to postpone production for a week when she and Rockwell insisted they needed more rehearsal. ?People were treating me like I had value, and so then I felt valued, and I displayed my value.?
Learning how to make money by doing something other than indies: Money, she says, means ?choice, freedom, peace, quiet, downtime? I used to really believe in work being a pure thing, but I don?t know how practical that is or how worldly that is,? she says. She begins to act out a sort of science-lab experiment with her hands, as if she is currently titrating her own career. ?I started to feel like, Can I drop these other colors into the solution without polluting it? Can I retain how I think of myself while adding in these other qualities and concerns, such as a retirement fund??
If Verdon was around today, would she have gotten credit for her work? ?I think so. I thought the world was the world. I didn?t ever expect things to be fair. I didn?t expect this much out of life, being a woman. And in the last couple of years, that started to shift.?
[From Vulture]
That is one of the saddest yet most realistic moments in an interview EVER: ?I thought the world was the world. I didn?t ever expect things to be fair. I didn?t expect this much out of life, being a woman.? We don?t really think about it or talk about it that much, because as we grow up, our expectations of fairness and justice and equity are beaten down so far that we?re sometimes surprised when someone actually, you know, treats us fairly. Also: I still friggin? love that Michelle has started to talk more about money and why she?s made some shifts in her career, and why she?s made more ?commercial? movies lately. She?s got a retirement account. She?s saving money for her daughter. I love when women talk about money.

| Michelle Williams & Phil Elverum separated after less than a year of marriage | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Last summer, Michelle Williams covered an issue of Vanity Fair and she revealed a stunning piece of information: unbeknownst to everyone, she had quietly been in a serious relationship with Phil Elverum and they had low-key eloped a few months earlier in 2018. Elverum is an indie rocker and widower who lost his first wife in 2016. Elverum has a very young daughter, and Michelle and Heath Ledger?s daughter Matilda is 13 years old. Since we only knew about the elopement through Michelle?s interview, most of us were like ?wow, way to keep it quiet, good for you!? It felt like it meant something very special that Michelle was able to keep it so private and she spoke about their love in a very moving way. Well, it?s over. It?s over in less than a year of marriage.
It?s over. Michelle Williams and husband Phil Elverum have called it quits after less than one year of marriage, Us Weekly can confirm.
The Dawson?s Creek alum, 38, shocked fans in July 2018 when she told Vanity Fair that she had secretly tied the knot in the Adirondacks in front of a small group of friends and their respective children. Williams is the mother of 13-year-old daughter Matilda, whom she shared with the late Heath Ledger. Elverum, for his part, has a daughter with his late wife, Genevive Castre, who passed away in July 2016 from pancreatic cancer.
?Obviously I?ve never once in my life talked about a relationship, but Phil isn?t anyone else. And that?s worth something,? Williams told Vanity Fair at the time. ?Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment. I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free.?
[From Us Weekly]
People Magazine later confirmed the separation, with a ?source close to the situation? saying: ?Michelle and Phil separated at the beginning of the year. It was an amicable split and they remain friends.? So? the beginning of the year. They were married for like six months before they separated? That?s rough. And it seems uncharacteristic of Michelle too while she?s had short relationships in the past decade, she?s never been the type to go all-in with someone she?s isn?t sure about. She just seems extremely cautious about who she opens up to, which is why we thought this guy must be the real deal. And to have it end after less than a year of marriage? it feels like something happened.
I mean, I have some theories. I?ve been watching Fosse/Verdon and my lord, Michelle and Sam Rockwell have some extreme chemistry with each other. I know Sam is with Leslie Bibb and everything butI?ve got some theories.

I honestly don?t know much about Bob Fosse?s life, so I guess I?ll probably check out this FX miniseries, Fosse/Verdon. It?s the true story of Bob Fosse?s relationship with and marriage to Gwen Verdon, and how they collaborated with each other and made each other better during the course of their careers, even though their personal relationship could be messy AF. Sam Rockwell plays Bob Fosse and Michelle Williams plays Gwen Verdon. Here?s the trailer:
It looks good, minus the bad wig work on Michelle. Maybe Gwen Verdon wore bad wigs in real life, who knows. Sam is an Oscar winner, remember that? He won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2018. Michelle is an Oscar-nominated actress making her grand return to television (yes, I still remember Dawson?s Creek, peeps). The series starts tonight!!
Anyway, the premiere was last night and Sam and Michelle seemed to have gotten through the eight-part miniseries without killing each other. They even seem to like each other a lot. Michelle wore a surprisingly good Louis Vuitton gown. I still feel like her hair is too white-blonde. But I?ve gotten used to how she loves to look so washed out.
Oh, Lin Manuel Miranda was there! He helped adapt the biography of Fosse and he?s an executive producer on the project.
Jon Hamm was there too (he?s not in the series).

| Michelle Williams & Chad Johnson broke off their red-flag-filled engagement | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Michelle Williams got a lot of attention this year when she announced her engagement to Chad Johnson, a white guy who works as a life coach. The engagement got the full People Magazine treatment, almost like they were inviting us to have an opinion on their lives. Then they put themselves out there even more, when they decided to put their love on display in an OWN reality show called Chad Loves Michelle. Shenanigans ensued, when cameras rolled on Chad using Michelle?s mental health struggles against her in arguments, and when he seemed particularly insensitive during any kind of conversation about race. So? long story short, Chad and Michelle are no longer engaged.
Michelle Williams has revealed that her engagement to pastor Chad Johnson is off. The 38-year-old Destiny?s Child singer made the announcement in a since-deleted Instagram Story post on Friday morning ? the same day she dropped her latest single, ?Fearless.?
?I still remain fearless,? she wrote in simple white text on a black background. ?I guess I still remain single! Things didn?t work out. The healing that needs to take place is a must! I don?t wanna destroy another relationship. Blessings to him, his family and ministry. #FEARLESS?
Reps for Williams didn?t immediately return PEOPLE?s request for comment. Williams and Johnson, 40, announced their engagement exclusively to PEOPLE in April. The couple met in March 2017 at an Arizona spiritual retreat run by Johnson, a life coach who has also worked as a chaplain for pro sports teams including the Pittsburgh Steelers and L.A. Dodgers.
[From People]
I?m not going to pretend to stan to Michelle, but I?ve always liked her and wished her well, and I?m actually pretty happy that she and Chad ended things before they were legally tied to each other. I feel like Michelle has had a difficult couple years, and maybe she convinced herself that Chad was her ?happy ending,? the light at the end of the tunnel. But it didn?t work out, and so be it. I hope she takes some time to mourn the relationship and then finds someone really nice, someone who won?t throw off red flags in the middle of a reality show.

| Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton at the 'Venom' premiere: tragic or just meh' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from last night?s LA premiere of Venom, the stand-alone villain origin story of Venom (derp), who is best known as one of Spider-Man?s nemeses. Tom Hardy plays Venom and the original character who becomes Venom. People were hating on me for honestly believing that the trailers look sort of okay, but truly, I think the trailers make it look somewhat watchable. Now that we?re nearing the release date, it does feel like there?s not a lot of buzz about the film though. We?ll see when the reviews come out I think they?re probably being embargoed until the very last minute, which is never a good sign.
As for the premiere? I find myself in a difficult and strange world. I honestly think that Jenny Slate looked amazing here she wore a sparkly Altuzarra dress and she flat-ironed her naturally curly hair. I like her curly hair, and I would never tell a curly girl to straighten her hair, but that being said? Jenny looks so grown-up and sleek with straight hair.
I?m also feeling weird about Michelle Williams, in that this is the BEST her pixie cut has ever looked? How can that be? Am I merely getting drunk on the fact that she did side-swept bangs and it changes her whole hair vibe? Is it the fact that she?s finally getting that platinum white-blonde shade right? Or is that I just want to focus on Michelle from the neck up because I absolutely loathe this terrible Louis Vuitton dress? My God, you guys. There is nothing redeeming about this dress. Also: I?m getting a strong vibe from Michelle. I?m not Bump Watching her, but she?s recently married, she?s happier than she?s been in a decade, and it would not surprise me if she makes an announcement in a few months.
As for Tom Hardy? he didn?t bring his wife Charlotte Riley. He brought Kelly Marcel, his screenwriter friend and his occasion red-carpet date. I do think they?re just friends, for what it?s worth.
Bonus Riz Ahmed, looking like a snack in an aubergine suit.

Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams have been best friends since their Dawson’s Creek days. Busy often attends events with Michelle to events and they are often photographed together. I’m sure many people in Hollywood have strong friendships but we don’t generally see them, especially after they start families. It’s great that these two are so close. Good friends are a treasure. And it’s nice to know someone always has your back:

| Michelle Williams might be engaged to her low-key 50-year-old boyfriend | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Before the Michelle Williams-Mark Wahlberg/par-disparity story took hold last week, I was going to cover something a lot nicer about Michelle. She has a ?new? boyfriend, although I think she?s been dating this guy, undercover, for months now. His name is Andrew Youmans, and People Magazine did a lengthy story about him. He?s not shady in the least – he?s a financial consultant, he?s not connected to Hollywood or Broadway, he?s 50 years old (Michelle is 37), and he just sounds really smart and really solid. Michelle has apparently been wearing a heart-shaped diamond ring on her left hand and now people think she?s engaged.
Michelle Williams said ?yes?! The actress has been quietly dating New York financier Andrew Youmans, and though they?ve yet to make an official public appearance together, it?s the real deal. In fact, multiple sources reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly that the pair are engaged!
?She wants a good guy and a stable family life,? says the insider.
The All the Money in the World star set off engagement speculation when she showed up at the Golden Globes on January 7 with a heart-shaped diamond ring on that finger. At the time, she brushed off the accessory as simply ?beautiful jewelry.? Williams, 37, also sported the ring while wearing a red one-piece and floppy straw hat at the beach in the Bahamas, where she spent New Year?s Day with Youmans and Matilda, her 12-year-old daughter with the late Heath Ledger.
When Ledger died at age 28 a few weeks after he and Williams broke up, Matilda was just 2. Following the tragedy, friends say the Brooklyn-based actress was hesitant to date again.
?Michelle was totally focused on giving Matilda the best upbringing possible,? says pal. Besides, says another, ?It took her a long time to get over Heath.?
[From Us Weekly]
I always dislike how magazines paint Michelle as the forever-untouched widow of Heath Ledger. She was devastated in the wake of Ledger?s death and I believe it?s taken her years to find her footing. But also: she?s 37 years old, and she?s had plenty of serious relationships and casual relationships since Ledger passed away. I?m not shading her for that – good for her for still believing in love and for dating and enjoying herself. I am throwing shade at the idea that we need to treat her with kid gloves, like she?ll burst into tears if she even thinks of another man besides Heath. Anyway, I hope she is engaged to this guy. He sounds really solid and I like it when actresses date accomplished men outside of the industry.

Here are some photos from last night?s LA premiere of All the Money in the World, which will probably always be known as That Film That Went Through Reshoots So Ridley Scott Could Edit Out Kevin Spacey. Ridley Scott moved like lightning to recast the role of J. Paul Getty, which was already shot by Kevin Spacey last year. When Spacey was outed as a predator and a pedophile, Ridley cast Christopher Plummer, who basically left his vacation in Florida, flew to Italy and shot for nine days straight to replace Spacey.
Michelle Williams turned up in a surprisingly vibrant and lovely Louis Vuitton dress. This shocks me! Michelle usually wanders around red carpets looking like a scared, child-like ghost from the Civil War. When asked about the reshoots, Michelle said she was happy to support Ridley and happy to go and basically do some unpaid reshoots because ?They didn’t pay me that much anyway, so whatever.?
Here?s Mark Wahlberg. When asked about Kevin Spacey, Marky Mark said ?Everybody is obviously entitled to due process ? but I didn’t know what to think.? I?m flat-out amazed by how many white dudes believe that Sex Predatorgate is about due process and criminal justice. I mean, considering Wahlberg?s own history as a hate-crime-committing thug, you would think he would be more suspicious of the criminal justice system.
Here’s Plummer, looking dapper.

Michelle Williams has gone to every awards show this year know that she?s going to lose to Viola Davis. Still, she?s hustled and campaigned and worn an endless amount of Louis Vuitton (fulfilling her contract with the label). My guess is that Michelle knows it will eventually be ?her time,? and she?s making sure people remember that she?s always been accommodating during the awards season. As for this LV look at the BAFTAs? I?m shocked that it?s not some kind of Civil War bride-cosplay. So? I?ll take it. Perhaps it?s one of her best LV looks this season?
Naomie Harris in Gucci. Oh, honey. NO. A few years ago, I was saying that Naomie was one of the most consistently well-dressed women on the red carpet. But she?s been all over the place during this awards season, and this might be the worst.
Noomi Rapace. I?m sort of speechless. I thought she was someone else, and I thought she was someone much older. That wig? not such a great idea.
Speaking of OH HONEY NO DON’T DO THAT, here’s Caitriona Balfe in Valentino. My God. No. Please, no.
