Emily Blunt ended up winning the SAG Award for Best Supporting Actress for A Quiet Place. It served as a weird reminder that she wasn?t nominated for anything at the Oscars, not for A Quiet Place and not for Mary Poppins. If they gave out awards for good speeches and supportive spouses, Emily and John Krasinski would win them all though John and Emily?s visible emotion at her win for a film he directed was amazing. I get it now they are a great couple. They adore each other. It?s lovely. Not so lovely? Emily?s dumb Michael Kors gown in Pepto-pink. YIKES.
Elisabeth Moss in Monique Lhuillier. She just never gets it right, does she? This is clearly a revamped wedding gown.
Margot Robbie in Chanel. She?s got a Chanel contract and this is one of the better Chanel gowns I?ve seen in a while.

I?ve been low-key watching the course-correction for Emily Blunt?s Oscar campaign over the past month. I?m not even sure that Disney believed in Blunt?s performance in Mary Poppins Returns to really put some money and effort behind her, at least for awards. Disney obviously wanted the film to do well financially, but I get the feeling there were people at Disney who were sort of surprised that Emily got nominated for anything. There?s just a feeling of Emily going ?oh, you mean I have to attend all of these awards shows? I guess I?ll get some dresses last-minute.? This Prada gown feels like something she chose because she only realized on Saturday that she?d have to go to the Critics Choice. Kind of boring, and not really her style.
Emmy Rossum?s Ralph Lauren look appeals to me because it?s SO ?90s. The thick velvet, the pale skin, the too-tight hair, the dark lipstick, the choker necklace. I thought this was the height of sophistication in 1995. The dress itself is great I love velvet, even though this feels a bit Christmas-y. I think her styling could use some help though.
Sandra Oh in Prabal Gurung the simple dress was overshadowed by Sandra?s big hair. My hair looks like this when I go to sleep with wet hair, but my hair can?t keep a curl to save its life. So I?m jealous that Sandra gets to experiment with wild, curly hair, even if it doesn?t look great.
Laura Harrier in Louis Vuitton very pretty, simple, not crazy. I?m shocked this is LV, honestly.
I feel like so many people forget that one year ago, Allison Janney was doing the rounds as part of her ultimately successful Oscar campaign. Chica has an Oscar! No one remembers that. So she?s making the rounds this year as a victory lap. She wore this Alberta Ferretti jumpsuit thing which? looks comfortable and cool.

It felt like Emily Blunt was coming into the awards season with a lot of late-surging momentum, and like she might be a surprise winner last night. She was not. It was weird. Her fashion choice was weird too she wore this Alexander McQueen dress (she was, I believe, the only person the House of McQueen dressed for the Globes) and while the dress is intricately constructed and interesting, it also felt kind of ?off? for the Globes. Like, she was trying to dress like she would surprise-win but also, the dress didn?t do much on-camera or in motion? I?m overthinking this, I know. That?s what Emily did too she overthought it.
People were calling Nicole Kidman?s Michael Kors gown her Dom Look and once you see it, you can?t unsee it. What strikes me is that Nicole fifty fking one years old and she still has a body like a Barbie doll.
Amy Adams in Calvin Klein by Appointment. The dress wasn?t that great (nice color, but the cut sucked), and Amy?s permanent babyface seems to be softening and giving way to the natural ageing process. I thought it was sad that Amy never wins anything. When will it be her time, damn it?
Catherine Zeta-Jones in Elie Saab. Sometimes I?m reminded of just how quickly gossip cycles change and celebrities go in and out of favor. Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas are old-school celebrities, and they?re still respected and admired by many in Hollywood. But? when they walked out on the carpet at the Globes, it just felt like they were two relics from another era, and they were so irrelevant now. Catherine?s look reflected that too her Elie Saab would have been a bigger deal ten years ago. Now she looks dated, just like her Botox-y Jokerface.

Here are some photos from last night?s ?European premiere? of Mary Poppins Returns. It?s just the London premiere, I don?t know why they?re calling it the European premiere, especially given that Disney will probably made Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt travel to some other European countries (they were already in Paris earlier this week). This premiere comes on the heels of Emily?s surprise SAG Award nomination in the Best Actress category as I keep saying, this year?s Best Actress race seems especially off-kilter, and before the SAG nomination, I would have said that there was no chance that Emily would get an Oscar nomination for Poppins. But now? I mean, she might.
For the London premiere, Emily chose a rich silk/satin gown in a brilliant blue. This is Schiaparelli Haute Couture, one of Tilda Swinton?s favorite labels. I could see this on Tilda, and I think itmight suit Tilda more than Emily? I mean, the color is gorgeous. But I LOATHE the sleeves. Ugh.
Meryl Streep in Elie Saab she came out to support Emily, of course, but Meryl is also friendly with Rob Marshall, the director. Meryl?s ensemble is awful.

I don?t have an ID on Emily Mortimer?s dress, but it?s not good. Her style throughout this promotional tour has been kind of bad.
You guys, I genuinely feel sorry for Colin Firth. He?s still doing the happy-marriage thing Livia even though they spent months having to deal with the lingering scandal and legal issues of her affair. Ugh. Her dress is super-fug too.

Mary Poppins Returns opens next week and I can?t wait. Not only am I excited for the movie, but I am ready for Emily Blunt to stop promoting while I still like her. She hasn?t done anything wrong, but since this is a children?s movie, it seems she is only asked about motherhood and mothering. Its a lot. In her interview with Luxury London, Emily said that being a mother changed her for the better and helped her find strength she?d never known she?d had.
As befits the couple?s current status as cinema?s best-loved husband and wife, the consistently affable Krasinski is evidently just as endearing off-screen. It?s just as well, as both are reaching the twin peaks of their professional powers ? with Blunt?s Poppins providing a slightly more family-friendly counterweight to Krasinski?s current run as Jack Ryan in the Amazon Prime thriller of the same name ? at the same time as raising daughters Hazel, four, and Violet, two.
?He?s a very good father and that?s been a great source of comfort to me because it?s not always that easy to pursue a Hollywood career when you?re raising young children and have to be working on movie sets for months at a time,? says Blunt. ?He?s great at making sure there are always fresh bottles of milk and fresh food in the house; just those little things make such a big difference.? As for Blunt herself, the arrival of Hazel and Violet ?changed her world completely?.
?You become a different person [when you have children] because you look at your choices from a very different perspective. Whenever I?m considering a project I always think of how it?s going to affect the lives of my daughters. I only choose films now that I definitely want to do and even then I have to really love the story and my character, because when your children are so young you have such a strong desire to be with them as much as you possibly can.
?That?s why I nearly passed on Sicario because I was still feeling very vulnerable and so close to my daughter Hazel after her birth that I didn?t want to play in a very violent film about Mexican drug cartels. But once I did, I realised that becoming a mother gives you so much more strength than you thought you had. You learn that you?re actually more capable than ever.?

This is what I mean about hoping the promotion ends soon. When I first read this, I got defensive on behalf of the non-mothers and how they are also strong. Upon rereading, I think I understand what Emily?s saying here. If you read her comment about being, ?actually more capable than ever,? with the context that she still felt vulnerable after Hazel?s birth, it doesn?t sound so preachy. I think she means that she didn?t think she could go back because of self-doubt, hormones and maybe mom-guilt. The ?strength? she found was that she could do both. In those early days after my first, I legitimately thought my previous life was lost, that I wouldnt be able to things the same ? it was suffocating. So, in that sense, I could see Emily having an epiphany during Sicario.
As much as I also want her to lay off talking about John and how good they have it, I do appreciate what she said about him picking up the slack around the house. I have a real control problem and learning to let The Mister participate in the day-to-day aspects of running the household has benefitted both of us. But, even though I know this isn?t Emily?s doing, when I read sentences like, ?as befits the couple?s current status as cinema?s best-loved husband and wife,? I can?t help but think it?s just an invitation for people to find flaws in their marriage, which I dont want to do.

Emily Blunt is a stylish woman, I don?t think that?s in doubt. She rarely phones it in, and you can tell that she pays attention to trends and what?s happening in fashion at the moment. She has a stylist, and I?m sure they work together to build ?style stories? for promotional tours. But can I just say? I so rarely LIKE what Emily wears. I respect her as a Fashion Girl, and I rarely think she looks flat-out terrible. But I just think she has a bad picker when it comes to red carpet looks.
Emily?s look for the Paris premiere of Mary Poppins Returns is a perfect example. She chose a patterned Zuhair Murad dress with a built-in cape, made out of the same fabric. The pattern isn?t awful, the cut is flattering, and I enjoy capes. But altogether, I dislike this? The prominent flowers on her boobs, the detailing on the shoulder, the length of the skirt? I just want to start from the beginning and rework this completely. The biggest thing is that this should have been a full-length gown, and the white-and-red flowers on the fabric shouldn?t have been tailored to look like pasties.
Lin-Manuel Miranda looks nice on this promotional tour I?m glad he?s not doing the ?dude thing? of underdressing while his female costar is wearing couture. Lin seems to be wearing suits and beautiful dress coats.

Here are some photos from last night?s Hollywood premiere of Mary Poppins Returns. Emily Blunt was clearly the star of the red carpet, which is how it should be. She dressed up like a real Disney princess too, probably because she knew she was going to be interacting with kids at the premiere. Can you even imagine being a little kid and loving Mary Poppins and here comes Emily in this Good Witch get-up? She must have blown their minds. The dress is Yanina Couture. John Krasinski, her husband, was obviously her plus-one, but he only posed with Emily for a short time, then he let her have the carpet to herself.
Lin Manuel Miranda was there, and he brought his wife Vanessa, and he also posed with Dick Van Dyke. It was sweet, and let?s not forget that this was a dream come true for Lin as well.
I?m also including photos of Emily Mortimer & Ben Whishaw (they play the Banks children all grown up), plus Matt Damon and Luciana. Matt and Luciana are close friends with Emily and John, although Matt has been in the wind for months now. I think he?s just been spending a ton of time in Australia with his BFF Chris Hemsworth.

Emily Blunt is a lovely woman, who has had her hits and misses on the red carpet. I don?t know about you, but I think she added another look to the ?hit? column on Monday night. Emily served as host for the American Institute for Stuttering 12th annual gala at Guastavinos in New York City. She channeled classic Hollywood glam in a vintage-inspired dress from Christian Dior?s Resort 2019 collection.
The simple cap-sleeved, A-line dress featured a white polka dot sheer tulle overlay with delicate floral appliques in black. She accessorized with dramatic drop earrings from Lorraine Schwartz and strappy sandals by Gianvito Rossi. She framed her face with a halo braid, which showed off her natural makeup palette.
Emily?s handsome hubby, John Krasinski, was also in attendance, complementing his wife?s look with a dark suit and tie. I love that guy, but I wish he wasn?t still hanging on to that facial hair. He?s so cute when he?s clean-shaven. Just my two cents.
The evening served as a pre-anniversary date night for the couple, who celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary yesterday. They were married in 2010 in Como, Italy and are the proud parents to two daughters Hazel, 4, andViolet, who turned 2 last week.
I don?t know about you, but I love this look maybe because it looks like something a non-celebrity like myself could get away with (the cheap, knock-off version of it. Wardrobe-wise, I have Dior tastes and an H&M budget). The dress is so delicate and pretty. I also like the updo and think it was a wise choice to forego a necklace and let those earrings make a statement. I?ve said it before and I?ll say it again, John and Emily are such a cute couple. I?m hoping they share the screen again in the near future.

After Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan?s split, we need to form a prayer circle around Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. Please don?t let them break up! For what it?s worth, Emily doesn?t have to deal with her husband becoming some huge mega-star (like Channing or Chris Pratt). Krasinski tried and it didn?t really work out. So now he?s directing. He directed himself and his wife in A Quiet Place, a horror film about monsters that attack when they hear noise. These are photos from last night?s New York premiere.
Emily Blunt wore this princess-y Oscar de la Renta. I really don?t like this at all? I wish the entire dress had been the maroon velvet and I wish I didn?t even have to look at the Pink chiffon skirt. Is it just me or do the two colors not complement each other at all?
The premiere was also a ?date night? for another couple facing some marriage-struggle rumors, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. For what it?s worth, I think Blake and Ryan are totally fine. They?ll continue to be fine just as long as Blake never forces Ryan to pose for Taymerica photos ever again. Blake is wearing Chanel in these photos.

The 2017 SAG Awards are going on tonight. The awards start at 8 pm on TNT here in America, and the E! Red Carpet pre-show starts at 6 pm. We?ll have full fashion coverage tomorrow morning, starting bright and early.
I would imagine that they will be crazy political this year, don?t you? And by that I mean? at the Golden Globes, Meryl Streep made an elegant argument against Emperor Baby Fists and everything he represents, and that happened BEFORE he was in even in office. Now that we?re through the first full week of the Orange Apocalypse, I don?t see how the presenters and winners tonight won?t be making near-constant references to any and all of Trump?s dangerous, sad, divisive, misogynistic, racist, unhinged, petty hatemongering.
The hostess of our SAG Open Post this year is Emily Blunt. She surprised me – and I think she surprised many people – by getting a SAG and a BAFTA nomination for her work in The Girl on the Train. While the book was popular, the film was not a critical success. The film still sits at 43% on Rotten Tomatoes. That being said, it did gross more than $170 million worldwide, so more people saw Blunt?s film than, say, Loving. Loving got shut out of the SAGs. Sad. For a few weeks, I was really worried that Emily was surging in the Best Actress race and that she would end up with an Oscar nomination and Ruth Negga would not. But that didn?t happen. So? expect to see Emily and her husband on the red carpet tonight – they already flew home from London, where she?s been working on Mary Poppins.
