This is Olivia Wilde’s new Revlon campaign called “Love is On.” When I heard about Livvy’s new contract, I was thrilled. She’s a gorgeous lady and a decent actress, but she’s had a terrible run of bad luck with acting projects. The last project I watched her in was Drinking Buddies on Netflix. She played the “cool girl” who guzzled beer and wasn’t looking for a guy to spend the night after hitting it. I want to say Olivia could land better roles, but that’s just me being hopeful.
I do like Olivia. She’s both intelligent and quick witted. Most of the time, she plays the love interest in movies, so she’s not losing out by transitioning to modelling. Playing spokesmodel is a lot less demanding (timewise) than spending months on a film set, so the Revlon gig lets Olivia be a selfless mother and still provide a platform for her new earth-mother brand. Olivia promoted Revlon in Times Square yesterday. She also gave some quotes about makeup and love to the December issue of InStyle:
On winter makeup: “I find that winter and the holidays is a fun time to just play a little bit more with makeup. I think I tend to wear more eye makeup and maybe bolder lip colors in the winter and that?s kind of what?s good about holiday parties–being able to go a little bit over the top. It?s the one time you can wear glitter without being a stripper, and I really enjoy that opportunity. The new Eye Art products are super fun and they?re perfect to pair with a sparkly top. That?s something I think is going to be fun for all of those holiday parties.”
On the “classic red lip”: “I like deep reds. The one problem with lipstick sometimes for me is that it doesn?t stay and I?m constantly wiping it off my forehead or my ear, and I really hate that, so I really like the ColorStay, the Ultimate Suede. There?s good nice, red, poppy colors, like ?Boho Chic? is a fun one, and I think you should feel free to wear lip colors, but you really don?t want it to end up everywhere, and I honestly have found it on my forehead and my ear. I have no idea how my own lips get on my own neck. It just doesn?t make sense.”
She’s a huge holiday enthusiast: “Yeah, all of them! I love it. I really indulge throughout the holiday season. It kind of starts with Halloween and it goes ?til March. I really love to cook, and I love to cook holiday meals because I love all the sides. I love cooking Brussels sprouts and yams.”
Changing makeup with the seasons: “Yeah I think I use a thicker moisturizer in the winter because my skin gets really dry and kind of red. I really like the Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream. It?s pretty thick and I find that my skin drinks it up. It definitely makes it a better base for any sort of makeup I put on top of it because if you put makeup on top of dry, cracked skin, it?s not going to look pretty.”
How a woman “in love” looks: “When I see a woman walking down the street and I think, ‘She?s beautiful,’ it?s usually because she seems really confident and self-possessed and really loving herself. She?s not looking for validation from anyone else, and I do think you can?t love anyone else until you love yourself?it just doesn?t work, and then that love does translate to how you look. It radiates from you. And it can be the love of your partner, which obviously has such an amazing effect on how you feel. You can?t eat because you?re so excited…but it?s also love for your child. I find that the deep love that?s introduced to you as a mother makes you feel beauty of a different type, and you walk around the world with a different admiration and appreciation of the world. I will say you just can?t be a good partner, and you can?t be a good mother, and you can?t be a good friend unless you really love yourself, and I think that that is something we learn from life and maturity. I think it?s something that I really enjoy about getting older, is honing in on that a little bit and meditating on it a bit more and understanding the difference between self-obsession and confidence. I think that?s a normal part of growing up, understanding the difference. I think that beauty and style and all that fun stuff is a great way to celebrate that self love.”

Olivia has prepared well for this Revlon gig. She has plenty of product names on the tip of her tongue and ready to fire at journalists. Livvy is very funny too. What other cosmetic spokeswoman would say that holidays are “the one time you can wear glitter without being a stripper“? She’s a comedienne, and I bet Livvy used a perfectly deadpan voice to deliver her lines. I want her to talk more about moisturizer. This premature winter is already brutal for soft lady skin.
What do you think about Olivia’s theory that no one can be a good mother before they love themselves? It feels like common sense, but I hear people say it a lot.
Livvy’s baby daddy, Jason Sudeikis, stopped by to visit David Letterman earlier this week. Jason says he almost missed the birth of Otis Alexander because he went out to grab tacos. Then he stopped at a bar. After a few shots, Jason noticed a missed call, which was from a frantic Livvy. Was he joking? He does that a lot. Here’s a clip for the curious.

| Olivia Wilde: 'The gift of motherhood is selflessness & that's really freeing' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

These are photos of Olivia Wilde at the Women’s Media Foundation awards on Tuesday evening. She was wearing a strange Roksanda dress with a structural blue-and-coral ruffle. The dress is pretty boring, and the “artsy” geometric ruffle looks awkward. Olivia is lucky enough to be able to get away with loose, undone hair and natural looking makeup.
Olivia co-hosted this event. She’s connected to the foundation because her mother, Leslie Cockburn, is an investigative journalist who worked in war zones. Olivia decided to talk up her new mommydom on the red carpet. What she says is sweet and profound, but you get the sense that Olivia thinks she’s the first one to experience motherhood. Let’s see what Livvy has to say about her experience:
She’s selfless now: “The amazing thing about becoming a parent is that you will never again be your own first priority. The gift of motherhood is the selflessness that it introduces you to, and I think that?s really freeing.”
The “amazing” Otis: “He’s a very sweet person,” shares Wilde, who jokes that she and Sudeikis are “getting there” in terms of Otis sleeping through the night. “The empathy that it floods you with — being a mother — I think makes you a better storyteller. I take my place in the world a little bit more seriously being a mother … I hope I can tell stories that somehow benefit the world that Otis will grow up in.”
Her mother: “She taught me the importance of speaking truth to power, to being unintimidated by people telling you to give up. So in terms of my own career, her example of perseverance has been very helpful. My mom was the first person to really introduce me to what it means to really dedicate yourself to your profession, and about self sacrifice. And I think being a mother in a very dangerous profession is even harder, and she knew that she was risking her life, and yet we grew up just admiring that type of passion and bravery.”
[From People]
Let’s cut Olivia a break since she’s still a new mother, and she’s still in the lovey-dovey bonding phase with her son. He’s not old enough to talk back or refuse to do his homework. She’s in full mommy haze and talking about how empathy makes mothers better storytellers. Does that make sense to anyone? I think she’s just happy, effusive, and rambling. On the notion of selflessness, yeah. Those feelings are common. I’m still pretty selfish but have learned to prioritize competing needs since becoming a mother. Every mother learns how to work it out on her own.

| Olivia Wilde breastfeeds in her Glamour editorial: groundbreaking? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Olivia Wilde covers the September issue of Glamour. She’s not promoting any film roles although she is currently filming an untitled HBO project. Most outlets are making a huge deal about how Livvy breastfeeds in this editorial. It IS a big deal and very significant. I shudder at how some “dude” blogs are sexualizing the matter. Olivia tweeted this photo from the shoot, which shows her feeding little Otis Alexander with the following caption: “Otis ordered milkshakes. Luckily I had some on me. Then he peed on my dress. Good kid. #boobfood #whennaturecalls.” The photo is absolutely gorgeous and groundbreaking. Olivia’s interview is all about her new role as mother. She also talks about whether she’ll ever marry Jason Sudeikis. Hint: She’s not in a hurry.
Why she breastfed in this shoot: “You can be someone who is at once maternal and professional and sexy and self-possessed. [But] I mean, I certainly don?t really look like that when I?m [typically] breastfeeding. And there?s usually a diaper involved. Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn?t complete without my identity as a mother being a part of that. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing. I don?t know, now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast. It felt like we were capturing that multifaceted woman we?ve been discussing — that we know we can be.”
Does she worry about being a working mother? “No, because of the example of my mom. My mom is such a badass working mother. That inspired me when I was pregnant. I wasn?t going to sacrifice myself because I was becoming a mother.”
Will she and Jason marry? “We?re engaged, but no specific [wedding] plans yet — we just have to find the time to put it together,? she says. ?In many ways, a child is more of a commitment. We are fully committed and really happy as a family. There?s no definition of the ‘normal family’ anymore. Kids today are growing up with so many different definitions of family. I guess what I?m saying is that I don?t feel any pressure to do it. But I think it will be really fun.”
[From Glamour]
I know Olivia grates on a lot of you. She’s not a standout actress, but there’s something luminous about her energy. Livvy also never fails to speak her mind, and she usually keeps her words classy. Well, except for the time a GQ journo said she was too hot to be literate. That dude deserved the profanity.
I’m glad Olivia decided to breastfeed as part of a fashion shoot in a major magazine. Not every woman chooses to breastfeed (for various, personal reasons), but the practice should be supported and accepted in society. Nursing a child in public shouldn’t be taboo. Olivia is appealing to all the mothers out there in the name of acceptance. This is also a career move, but I don’t mind. It feels like a natural progression for Olivia.
Jason took photos of the paps last week during a stroll with his family. Celebrities think they’re so clever.

Giving another look at her bundle of joy, Olivia Wilde posted a photo of her son Otis onto Facebook this afternoon (July 17).
The darling picture features the little dude rocking a hoodie like his mom. The 30-year-old mommy captioned the simple shot, ?Rock and roll, baby.?
Olivia welcomed her little man with fianc Jason Sudeikis in April. After giving birth, the new parents shared a shot of Otis resting his head on Olivia?s.
Along with the first photo, Miss Wilde tweeted, ?Ladies and gentlemen, Otis Alexander Sudeikis has LEFT the building! (I?m the building)?

Here’s a great photo of Olivia Wilde a few days ago in NYC. She’s toting little Otis Alexander in a baby sling and walking her dog, Paco. For those of us who are both parents and pet owners, you recognize the amount of time it took Olivia to get out the door for this walk, right? I’m guessing … 45 minutes. Livvy decided it was time to walk the dog. She dressed herself in casual wear, and she fed and dressed Otis. Then she tried to round up Paco, but he decided to play hide and seek and tipped over a few plants. She finally secured Paco on the leash. By that time, Otis was crying because he spit up milk all over his fresh outfit. She changed Otis’ clothes, and he gurgled happily before promptly filling his diaper in the worst way.
No wonder Livvy looks exhausted.
Olivia’s still on promotional duties too. She’s talking up her latest indie flick, Third Person (the same movie that Mila Kunis and her attitude are sort-of promoting). This is the movie I’ve been resolving not to see because it features Liam Neeson, 63, and Olivia, 30, getting it on as love interests. Olivia stopped by and spoke with David Letterman about how her character runs down stairs naked, “which no one should ever do on camera.” Olivia was thrilled when the stair-running scene was removed. I don’t blame her.
Olivia is also dealing with rude remarks from journalists about how she’s “too hot” to play a writer in this film. Here’s an excerpt from the GQ review of Third Person:
Third Person is another Sudoku movie. Hotel chambermaid Mila Kunis gets paired off opposite painter James Franco in one New York-set plot strand, while penny-ante fashion grifter Adrien Brody pursues an enigmatic Gypsy dame (Moran Atias) in Rome. Liam Neeson, meanwhile, is a novelist juggling hotcha mistress Olivia Wilde and, at long distance, estranged wife Kim Basinger during a jaunt to scenic-as-ever Paree.
Neeson and Wilde get up to some believably wayward antics: games, one-upmanship, the kind of desire for each other that comes from old acquaintance rather than novelty. She’s supposed to be a writer too, but your belief in that won’t outlast Wilde scampering naked through hotel corridors once Neeson playfully locks her out of his room. With that tush, who’d need to be literate? Who’d want to?
[From GQ]
Olivia’s response is pretty classic. I can’t possibly add anything that would make this better.
HA. Kiss my smart ass, GQ. ?@Jezebel: Olivia Wilde's ass too nice for her to play a writer, says GQ review http://t.co/WJx8BbjWgJ?

Olivia Wilde received a feature in the July issue of O! magazine. She just gave birth to her first child with Jason Sudeikis, Otis Alexander, a month ago. She’s still been very visible and attended the CFDAs earlier this month. Livvy has several projects in the pike, but I don’t know what she’s promoting at the moment. Perhaps Black Dog, Red Dog? That’s a James Franco production, so let’s not discuss it.
Livvy doesn’t say too much to Oprah beyond a simple list. She sounds pretty low maintenance, and she reveals how the surprise shoe packrat in her relationship is Jason:
Best Obsession: “Miniature objects, anything tiny: furniture, cameras, trees — all of which you?ll find scattered around my home. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids is everything I could dream of in a film.”
Best hobby: “While shooting Cowboys & Aliens in New Mexico, Jon Favreau taught Daniel Craig and me how to paddleboard on a lake. Daniel sank because he was too muscly, but my girl parts helped me balance! Jon gave me a board as a parting gift, and it?s become a lovely pastime — like surfing with training wheels.”
Best fashion secret: “If you were to peek inside my closet, you?d think I was a newscaster or a politician — I have dozens of blazers. I always buy them, thinking they?ll pull together an outfit, but then never wear them. My assortment rivals Rachel Maddow’s.”
Best pick-me-up: “A solo reggae dance party. I fell in love with the music as a kid and was the girl who had Bob Marley posters in her boarding school dorm room. Whenever it?s sadville outside, I?ll blast Toots & the Maytals to create my own tropical island paradise.”
Best friend: “Paco, my 11-year-old mutt. He has an awesome habit of leaving his toys in a perfectly organized pile. It looks like I?ve trained him into submission, but he?s naturally orderly and well behaved. I?m praying that my child takes after him!”
Best collection: “It?s actually my fiance?s [Jason Sudeikis]. He?s a sneakerhead with about 200 pairs of Air Jordans. They make up an extraordinarily colorful wall in our apartment. Guests always expect me to have too many shoes!”
[From O! Magazine]
“My girl parts helped me balance.” That quote is pretty much everything, right? Daniel Craig sank because of his rampant muscle tone, but Livvy’s “girl parts” acted as floatation devices. Her words, not mine!
As for the shoes, that’s not unusual. I’ve been through it. Dude has 53 pair of shoes sitting in a pile, and the girl has 4 pair wedged into one corner of a closet. It happens, but it must be particularly annoying in an NYC apartment where space is at a premium. 200 pair of Air Jordans? How excessive.
Here’s a picture of Olivia at the Moms for Social Good summit a few weeks ago. She’s a brand new mom! Mama works fast.
