One of the big reasons why I published that Amber Heard story on Sunday was because I thought that within the same 24-hour news cycle, we would get some leaks about what went down during Amber?s deposition, and I was prepared to do breaking-news coverage for it on Monday. TMZ had hyped this depo so hard, and everyone expected Amber to be ?grilled? and for Team Depp to declare victory the second Amber?s story might have one small discrepancy or whatever. But something weird happened: throughout the day on Sunday, nobody leaked anything. It was weird. Especially considering that Amber was in that meeting/depo for more than nine hours on Saturday. Then on Monday, I got a partial answer to the question of ?why hasn?t anyone leaked info from Amber?s depo?? The answer is weird though.
Amber Heard showed up for her deposition Saturday in her divorce/domestic violence case against Johnny Depp … but she never took the oath and never testified about a thing … sources connected to Amber tell TMZ. We’re told there was a videographer and court reporter present and Johnny’s lawyers were at the conference room table, but Amber never even walked in the room the entire day. She was in a nearby office.
Mind you … Amber showed up at around 11:30 AM — she was an hour and a half late — and didn’t leave until 9 PM. So, what happened inside the building? We’re told both sides were talking settlement but no deal was struck. As for why Amber never entered the room, much less answered questions the entire day … it’s a mystery.

That was TMZ?s initial story, that Amber came late but that she just sat in a room for nine-and-a-half hours and no one did anything. Very strange. A few hours after TMZ broke that news, Amber?s team sent out information to TMZ and other outlets. Her rep told TMZ:
“Although she was ready, willing and able to go forward with her deposition, it was not taken by Johnny’s attorneys. She waited for 10 hours and at no time did Amber ever refuse to start the deposition. There was nothing preventing Johnny’s counsel from commencing the deposition.”

Amber?s rep also says that Amber wasn?t really 90 minutes late to the deposition either ? while the deposition was scheduled for 10 am, she called ahead of time and Depp?s lawyers knew she was going to be there closer to 11 am on Saturday, and that when she showed up at the law offices, she was ?blindsided by paparazzi.? Interestingly enough, Amber?s rep also told TMZ that Johnny Depp was originally scheduled to be deposed by Amber?s lawyers on Wednesday but now he?s saying he can?t make it. And TMZ has a new story about the “mountain” of evidence Team Depp has gathered that “proves” Depp never assaulted Amber – go here to read. It basically sounds like Depp’s got a lot of employees going on the record about how they never saw anything. Weird, right? That people who would depend on Depp for their livelihood would say that he’s not an abuser? And why can’t Depp be deposed on Wednesday? Oh, right, he’s on vacation.
The NYDN went a little bit further to explain the fact that Amber was never deposed. Apparently, she just sat there as her lawyers and Depp?s lawyers tried to negotiate a ?global resolution on all issues,? and at one point, Amber even got up to start the deposition but the lawyers went back to discussing the terms of a potential settlement. What do you think? Do you think Depp and Heard are going to get this sh-t settled by Monday the 15th? I suspect if they do work out a settlement, it will be hammered out at the very last minute, like 6 a.m. Monday morning.

Here are some photos of Amber Heard on Saturday, making her way into her deposition with Johnny Depp?s lawyers. Amber was actually really late to the deposition, at least according to TMZ. Johnny Depp?s lawyers arrived at 9:40 am (PST) for a 10 am deposition, but first Amber?s lawyer was 15 minutes late, then Amber was more than an hour late. I kind of wonder if that was some sort of power play by Amber and her lawyers, but I also wonder if Amber is just doing poorly overall. TMZ made a big deal about how Depp?s lawyers could have asked for a ?contempt citation? since Amber was so late. Here?s what went down:
Amber Heard showed up 1 1/2 hours late for her deposition … where she’ll be in a face-off with Johnny Depp’s lawyers over her divorce/domestic violence case. Amber and her lawyer Samantha Spector showed up Saturday morning at the law offices of disso-queen Laura Wasser’s firm, Wasser, Cooperman and Mandles, the firm that’s repping Johnny in the divorce. Her client wasn’t with her and finally, at around 11:30 AM Amber drove up to the front of the building but didn’t want to be filmed so she found a more private entrance.
Our sources say both sides tried hammering out a settlement Friday night but negotiations fell apart at around 9 PM.
As TMZ reported, the depo should last all day and the lawyer doing the questioning — Blair Berk will almost certainly be interested in Amber’s domestic violence claims. Berk will pepper Amber with questions over the fact the police officers who responded to the downtown L.A. loft saw no evidence of physical injury and no damage inside the unit. The deposition will also cover amber’s demand for money in the divorce. The marriage lasted only 15 months.

The lawyer ?will almost certainly be interested in Amber’s domestic violence claims.? You don?t say. Thankfully, TMZ has been pretty silent since the deposition went down, so Depp?s team hasn?t leaked anything? yet. I?m expecting lots of leaks from both teams this week, because they?re due in court on August 15th (a week from Monday), so? just keep your eyes open for lots of ?leaks,? I guess.
Speaking of, late last week, People Magazine actually did a story about how hard all of this has been on Depp, because he?s the biggest victim here, right? An unnamed source told People: ?He feels stressed about all the Amber drama. He never anticipated getting a divorce. He just wants it all to be over and move on. It’s a very sad situation for him.? If he wants to be over, surely he should just give Amber what she wants so everyone can move on? That?s my pro-tip!

Real question: if a powerful man abused, harassed or assaulted you, would you go to Gloria Allred for help? Allred is well-known for throwing together press conferences with new clients, almost always women, to publicly accuse some powerful man of something terrible. Allred gets attention and media sympathy for her clients, absolutely. But is she the smart choice for every victimized woman? I really don?t know. But Amber Heard wanted to listen to what Gloria Allred had to say. According to People, Amber had a consultation with Allred last Friday.
Amber Heard has had a “consultation” with renowned feminist lawyer lawyer Gloria Allred’s California firm Allred Maroko Goldberg, a source tells PEOPLE. Heard, the source says, had a four-hour meeting with the firm in Los Angeles on Friday amid her ongoing acrimonious divorce from husband Johnny Depp, whom she alleges continually abused her. In addition to the divorce proceedings, Heard also filed a defamation lawsuit against comedian Doug Stanhope last week after he accused her of blackmailing Depp and lying about the alleged domestic abuse.
Allred, 74, is known for tackling high-profile cases. She represented the pseudonymous plantiff Jane Roe in the landmark abortion-rights case Roe v Wade, Scott Peterson’s girlfriend Amber Frey in the Laci Peterson murder case, and several women who have accused Bill Cosby of sexual abuse. Allred typically works with discrimination and sexual-abuse lawsuits, and sometimes serves as a publicist and advocate for women’s rights.

The way People Magazine framed their article, I guess we?re supposed to think that the consultation was more about Amber?s defamation suit against Doug Stanhope rather than her divorce and possible criminal complaint against Johnny Depp. But really, Allred would probably love to be involved in any way. What?s weird is that I think Amber has great representation already. The way she and her lawyers have already coordinated their attack on Depp will probably be used as a case study for divorces where the estranged husband is an abuser and a douchebag. Heard and her current lawyers were able to change the narrative around the divorce in the course of 48 hours, basically. So? sure, it?s good that Amber is consulting other lawyers but I think she should probably stick to her current peeps. Unless this consultation is basically yet another warning shot. Beware, Team Depp: Amber is fully prepared to have Gloria Allred climb up your asses for YEARS.

I?ve said this before, but I?ll say it again: my least favorite part of Divorce Watch or When-Did-It-All-Go-Wrong-Watch is Ring Watch. I HATE Ring Watch. But People Magazine did some analysis on photos of Amber Heard throughout the past few months, and they seem to think it?s significant that at some point in the past few months, Amber stopped wearing her diamond engagement ring. But she was wearing her wedding band up until a few weeks ago. Which just goes to my point: Ring Watch is bullsh-t. If celebrities are trying to tell us something by wearing or taking off their bands or engagement rings, they just need to USE THEIR WORDS. Stop with the ring games. That?s why I?m using these photos of Amber at the Met Gala a few weeks back. She wasn?t wearing her engagement ring at the Met Gala.
Meanwhile, the big story yesterday was that Amber was universally loathed by Johnny Depp?s family, especially his late mother. Johnny?s mom thought Amber was an uptradey a?hole who was just with Depp to help her career. TMZ also claimed that Amber had limited Johnny?s access to his mom last year, but when Johnny moved his mom into his home this year, Amber?s relationship with her mother-in-law got even worse. But Amber wants you to know that she adored Johnny?s mom.
With her marriage crumbling, Amber Heard remained a dedicated daughter-in-law to Johnny Depp’s ailing mom during the past year, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE.
“Amber was by Betty Sue’s side during this illness,” says the source, disputing reports of strife between Heard and Palmer. “And regularly visited her in the hospital.”
Betty Sue Palmer passed away last Friday in Los Angeles after a long illness. She was 81 and enjoyed a close relationship with her famous son over the years.
“They are a close-knit family with a special bond with their mom, who tied it all together,” a source close to Depp tells PEOPLE. “They took good care of her. She had been gravely ill for the last few years but they made sure she was well taken care of and had the best treatment. Johnny was very close to his mom.”
Meanwhile, the Heard source says “Amber is a family person” and enjoyed a friendly relationship with Depp’s mom from the start.
“Amber was the one that suggested that they get married at Betty Sue’s house,” says the source, adding that she was also close to Depp’s 14-year-old son. “She and Jack had a loving relationship.”
In 2014, Depp was spotted taking Heard and Palmer out for a New Year’s Eve dinner.
“It was obvious that Johnny was at dinner with his two favorite ladies,” an observer at Ago Restaurant in West Hollywood told PEOPLE at the time. “He seemed very, very happy.”

If leaking this information to People Mag wasn?t enough, Amber and her team also ran to TMZ (the outlet that originally reported that Depp?s family hated Amber) with the same story. TMZ spoke to ?Amber sources? who claim that Amber was a regular visitor when Johnny?s mom was in and out of the hospital. Those sources also say that Johnny made the ?choice? not to spend a lot of time with his mom last year, and that ?Amber does not believe any members of Johnny’s family hated her?Our Amber sources say she actually has pictures of her snuggling with Johnny’s son, Jack.?
My take is that TMZ and People Magazine want the info to keep coming in, so they?re not asking any follow-up questions from these ?Amber sources.? Questions like? if Amber was so tight with her mother-in-law, why did she file for divorce two seconds after Betty died? And: if Amber is such a “family person,” why did she file for divorce when Depp was deep in grief? And I find the absence of a specific mention in these articles of Lily-Rose Depp interesting too ? sure, Amber will tell you that she got along really well with Johnny?s son. But what about Johnny?s teenage daughter, who seems especially close to her mom, Vanessa Paradis? Well, E! News has a “source” in a new story claiming that of course Amber was tight with Lily-Rose. Amber is betting a lot that Depp’s kids and the people closest to him won’t contradict her. Which they totally will. Yeah, so this whole thing is so messy. Made worse by Amber?s inability to think two steps ahead.

I told you guys it was weird that Amber Heard and Johnny Depp hadn?t walked a red carpet together in a while. But even I didn?t think that THIS would happen, right now, at this moment. TMZ reports that Amber Heard has just filed for divorce from Depp after just fifteen months of marriage. I mean? yes, this union was always going to end in heartbreak, booze and divorce filings. But did anyone think that they wouldn?t even make it to the two-year mark?
Amber Heard has filed for divorce from Johnny Depp … shockingly 3 days after Johnny’s mom died. Amber filed her divorce petition Monday, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple married in February of last year, yet Amber is asking for spousal support.
Our sources say the couple had NO prenup.
It’s especially harsh because Johnny was extremely close to his mother. She says in the divorce docs that they separated on May 22 … 2 days after Johnny’s mom passed. As if that’s not enough … Johnny’s new movie, “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” opens Friday.

I?m speechless? but I?m not. I?m shocked but not surprised. I do feel bad that Depp?s mom just passed away ? I did not know that, and this must be a really difficult time for him. Made worse by the fact that his trophy wife just publicly dumped his ass. Granted, Johnny Depp is no angel, and he?s spent much of the last two years looking like he was barely crawling out of the biggest bender in the world. A bender called ?Mid-Life Crisis.? Anyway? it will be fascinating to see what happens next. Stay tuned? we might have another Summer of Splits on our hands.

Amber Heard was SO SHINY. Was it sweat? Was it really hot inside the ballroom? Probably, because there were lots of women who looked sweaty and frazzled as the evening wore on. But Amber looked shiny on the red carpet. She looked shiny at the beginning of the night, when she presented. That?s why she was there ? to present. And she was the first person I thought of when Ricky Gervais said ?You are megastars with enormous talent. Most of you ? some of you just married well.? Amber?s drunk other half did not attend. Which is why she didn?t get much attention from the live red carpet outlets.
Amber wore this Gucci gown which? is okay. I don?t flat-out hate it, and I actually like that she?s giving us a new silhouette, a new style that we normally don?t see from her. I like that she wore a color too. But that?s it. This looks dated rather than ?vintage.? It looks like a bridesmaid?s gown from 1963. And she?s still a charisma vacuum.
Katy Perry was arguably one of the most famous women at the Golden Globes, but it really didn?t feel like that all, right? It was almost like she was undercover in a strange land where her pop stardom had no currency. Katy wore this bubble-gum Pink Prada, which photographs better than it looked in motion. That?s not on Katy ? she was trying to work this dress, but Prada?s crappy bust work failed her. While I?m happy that there wasn?t off-center darting all over the bust (a Prada ?signature?), this gown did make Katy?s girls look slightly deflated in many shots. Katy also told J-Law that she was wearing a Bump-It. Which is actually sort of cute, but I like big, fluffy hair.
Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana? whoa. She looks very severe. Let?s say that. The dress itself is boringly efficient, but her styling is just too severe. If I was styling her, I would have gone with softer makeup, softer hair and less ?hard-edged? dress. There?s something brittle about her look.

Here are some photos of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp at the Palm Springs International Film Festival over the weekend. They attended the big opening gala, which is where Depp picked up an award, and Heard presented an award to Alicia Vikander. Amber?s dress is Dolce & Gabbana and I swear, this looks like at least two other dresses she?s worn in the past few months. Or maybe everything blends together with Amber ? she?s a very pretty woman, but I think her charisma-vacuum vibe causes me to not really remember her clothes. As for Depp?well, he looks three sheets to the wind in these photos. Even if he wasn?t drunk in these photos, he certainly carries that ?drunk? look with him all the time now.
As Depp was accepting his award at the PSIFF, he remembered to thank his wife, as they are just one month away from celebrating their one-year anniversary. Depp said: ?I also have to thank my wife Amber for putting up with me, for living with all these characters, which can’t be easy. It’s hard for me?it’s got to be hard for her.” As for Amber, she has a new interview with The Independent ? you can read the full piece here. She talks for a bit about The Danish Girl and transgender issues, but it was the other stuff I found interesting.
Moving to NYC & modeling: ?I thought I had died and gone to heaven. From that moment on I was different.? Modelling, however, held no interest for her, even from the beginning: ?I hated it.?
The lack of roles for women: ?I?m a woman… I get to giggle sometimes. In case you haven?t noticed, go see a movie right now and tell me what the majority of compelling speaking roles are.? The roles she?s offered are ?pedantic and over-played stereotypes?Because there are few parts, there?s fierce competition and anything that?s led by a woman is not finance-able. So those movies are typically under-financed and under-budgeted and under-made. Film-makers are 90 per cent male, so we don?t have a more balanced perspective from our storytellers. We?re way behind in this possibly progressive medium.?
Sexism in filmmaking: ?It takes not just actors and actresses noticing it. It takes audiences saying, ?I will show up to see a movie led by a female cast or one focused on the female life or elements of female perspective. It takes the studio system to be tired of this old, formulaic approach to making movies. They?ve got to be interested in changing ? the system of financing movies has to change.?

I?ve said this before, but there actually is a reason why Amber hasn?t managed to break out as a legitimate star: it?s because she?s really not all that talented, and she has the on-screen presence of a wet noodle. Is she beautiful? For sure. But she?s utterly forgettable on-screen. I?m just saying? in Amber?s case in particular, it?s not just sexism in Hollywood. It?s that producers would rather hire someone who can actually ACT.
