Amber Heard showed up in Esquire Mexico this month and I’m sure she said something profound in her interview but I already got what I came for, which is pictures, so I really don’t see any need in flipping through the pages like some sort of heathen living in the 90?s.

Amber Heard covers the March issue of Esquire Mexico. The shoot is a little bit dicey in terms of making our advertisers happy, but you can see all of it here. It’s a typical Esquire shoot, and Amber brings the va-va voom a plenty. No one can ever deny that Amber doesn’t have hustle. When she’s promoting a movie, she truly does the rounds. The girl has had so many magazine covers over the past year that I can’t be bothered to count then. She even got Johnny Depp to leave the scarves at home for her latest premiere, which was probably the most painful thing he’s done in years.
Likewise, Amber is doing interviews a plenty to promote 3 Days to Kill. This time, she’s not talking about her “gays,” which is a step in the right direction. She is pulling the “artist” card again. CB and I were just talking about how people love to gossip about Amber, and she has noticed the same. She says people have always talked about her. Is this a curse or a blessing? You decide:
On the failure of Paranoia and Machete Kills: “It seems that if I’m in them, they don’t do well. (Laughs) See, there?s the common denominator. It’s me. I never once in my entire life looked at any project as ‘the one.’ Maybe it’s because I haven?t had a project like that in my career. I haven’t had one thing that has made such a big difference in my world. I don’t have that expectation. I’ve been in this job for 11 years. In that time, I never had a moment that changed the way I live my life. It’s been a natural, organic climb. I started with nothing. I never had crazy luck. I’ve had to fight for every job, and that’s great.”
She’s frustrated with female characters: “I work only on a few movies a year rather than working non-stop on pointless, sexy characters. It’s in my nature to be drawn to things that are more compelling and more interesting, and which satiate my curiosity. That’s so much more important to me than being validated by a set of superficial concepts that my society claims are important to a woman. I see the futility of that, and that makes me want to defy it. Do I have to wear the wig and red lipstick in this film? Yes, I had to, but I got to play a character that I could do something with beyond the narrow framework. I got to turn that archetype on its head.”
Remember, she’s an artist: “In this medium, we rely on collaboration. I don’t pick up my own paintbrush and canvas. I’m given a few colors, and I’m given parameters on which to paint.”
On interest in her current relationship: “It’s really hard to be objective about these things. I’m a pretty realistic person, and to look at myself in the very fleeting and superficial world of tabloid journalism, it’s so uninteresting to me. I don’t take ownership of that. I take no pride in it. I take no validation in it. I’m hardly aware of it. I don’t even know to what extent it supersedes my work. I can’t imagine that my personal life would be interesting to anyone. I just don’t understand that. But I’ve never been into idol worship, or to things that don’t matter.”
People have always watched her: “I’ve always had the misfortune of living a life that seems to be salacious to other people. It doesn?t matter who I?m dating. People have always talked about me. People were always rolling their eyes. My parents, their friends, my friend’s parents — they just didn’t get it. There was always something I was getting into that shocked them, and nothing changed when I got here. In all my relationships, there was something to gossip about. I’ve always done exactly what I wanted to do.”
Acting is hard: “Many parts of my job are humiliating. Relinquishing control is part of it. You’re at the mercy of a machine. And you’re always in danger of being made into more of a commodity than you already are. There are many things that are humiliating about my job, but I’m not bored. So, it could be worse.”
Will she ever go “franchise” like Johnny? “Life is long, and if there is one thing that this job has taught me, it is that you can never say never. I have no interest in doing something like that right now, but you never know.”

The journos explicitly mentioned that Amber’s bisexuality and relationship with Johnny Depp were off the table for these interviews, which is interesting. Amber complains so much about people paying attention to her engagement, but she’s with one of the most famous actors in the world. If we give her the benefit of the doubt, then maybe we can’t help who we fall in love with. Is that fair in Amber and Johnny’s case? I feel like if she really hated the attention, she would have never dated an A-lister at all.
Oh, and Amber got a tiny feature (called “Texas Couldn’t Hold Her”) in this month’s Vanity Fair. More Texas. Of course.

Braving the chilly NYC air, Amber Heard stopped by the "Late Show with David Letterman" on Monday (February 17).
The "Rum Diary" star looked chic in a knee-length black dress, matching overcoat, and pointy heels as she posed for pics before heading inside to chat with Dave.
Earlier in the day, the 27-year-old actress headed to "Live with Kelly and Michael" to promote her new movie, "3 Days to Kill."
For the appearance, Amber went without her engagement ring from Johnny Depp and declined to discuss her relationship with the star.

Here are some photos of Amber Heard in New York City on Valentine’s Day with her little dog, Pistol. Amber loves guns, so it makes sense she’d name her dog after them. I still find it very odd to see her with tiny dogs at all. This is a stereotype, but I feel like a gun-loving gal would want at least a medium-sized dog. Like a German Shepherd or an actual Gun dog breed. Oh well.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finally walked a red carpet together! Of course they’ve done this before during the 2011 Rum Diary tour, but that was back when they weren’t “together.” I won’t debate the timeline here. I did, however, get carried away with the number of photos from this premiere. Their body language is so interesting. Amber made Johnny leave the scarves at home. Good call.
This is a pretty big premiere for Amber. She didn’t tag along for Johnny’s Lone Ranger promotion, but now that they are engaged, Johnny made good by showing up to support her role in 3 Days to Kill. Amber plays a sexy FBI agent (for real) opposite Kevin Costner, who plays a dying Secret Service Agent trying to win back his wife and daughter. You can watch the trailer here. It’s nothing special. The movie actually feels like one of the cheesy action movies Angelina Jolie did in her early career. I bring this up again because Amber is very much trying to execute “the Leg” like she did at the Globes.
I’m including some photos of Johnny’s crazy wing-tip shoes, but let’s talk about Amber’s dress. She’s wearing Alexandre Valthier with a dramatic v-neck and leg-baring slit. Amber’s body looks fantastic. Her makeup is just right even if the hair’s a little greasy. Perfect shoes are perfect.
I think Amber’s a total knockout, and I have nothing but respect for her game. Amber may be pretentious and faux art-y (farty?), but she has made all the right moves in this relationship. Johnny’s the one falling all over himself, and Amber is working it. Amber also gave a press conference yesterday about how much she “loves” shooting men in the head. During movies:
Does she like shooting men in the head? “I love it. I love it. Absolutely. It’s a perk of the job. I would rather shoot the gun and save the girl or save the guy or be hated than be cute, sweet and adorable and loved. It’s way more fun. It’s always more fun to play a badass. I always fight for those characters.”
She’s very picky with roles: “I only make a few movies a year because for every one that I take, I’ve said no thanks to many romantic movies where I bat my eyelashes and catch the bouquet.”
On Kevin Costner: “He reminds me of where I come from. He’s a just good ol’ American guy. He reminds of the people I grew up with and who I was raised by, so I got him. He and I just got each other instantly.”

Amber never deviates from her message. She doesn’t waste time with silly romantic comedies. This girl is truly angling to be the next Angelina Jolie, which is fine because Angelina really isn’t interested in these types of movies anymore. Now can Amber rack up some box-office successes? We’ll see. I have my doubts.

There are a lot of new photos of both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, but we don’t have access to them. That’s just as well because both Johnny and Amber are doing their thing with Johnny’s daughter, Lily Rose, in separate venues. Amber has been papped while shopping and lunching with Lily. The other pictures feature Johnny dropping Lily Rose off at school with a special friend — Marilyn Manson — in tow.Yes, you read that correctly.
This latest update in the fateful Johnny and Amber engagement story involves moving forward in a significant direction. I’ve been wondering whether Johnny will make good on this engagement. This time seems different than the others, right? Like Johnny might actually make it to the altar for the first time in decades. Here come some details from the Daily Star (via the Mail) about exactly what type of wedding ceremony Amber is planning with scarfy Johnny:
Their engagement was only revealed last month but Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are already planning their wedding.
While Amber, 27, has recently been seen flashing a huge engagement ring, she and 50-year-old Johnny are reportedly set to tie the knot in a small ceremony on his private island in the Bahamas with a barbecue afterwards.
According to the UK’s Daily Star newspaper: “They?re having a small intimate ceremony barefoot on the beach in Little Hall?s Pond Cay.
“Afterwards they’ll have a barbecue where some of Johnny’s musician pals are going to perform, followed by limbo dancing. Neither Johnny nor Amber want a big, glitzy Hollywood bash. They are both very private.”
Amber and Johnny first met when they starred together in 2011?s The Rum Diary but didn’t get together until 2012 after the breakdown of his 14 year relationship with Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has Lily Rose,14, and Jack, 11.
Johnny, 50, and bisexual Amber’s relationship has not always been smooth, and she initially ended their romance after deciding she wanted to be single.
However, Johnny was undeterred and sent her a personally-penned poem and a bouquet of roses every day for a month to convince her to give him another chance.
A source said in late 2012: “Johnny didn’t give up – he missed her so much over the summer. They both love literature and the way he tried to win her back totally worked.”
Indeed they cemented their romance on the private island.
The insider added: “Once they flew for a romantic break [in the Bahamas], they were back on as a couple. Johnny’s the type to fall hard and he’s vowed not to let a girl like Amber, who’s beautiful and intelligent, slip through his fingers.”
Johnny is also said to have named a beach on his private island, Little Hall’s Pond, in honour of his girlfriend, calling it Amber’s Cove.

Good grief: “They cemented their romance on the private island.” What does that even mean? I really don’t need to know the details. TMI. I do hope Johnny’s equipped his private island to offer his new bride all of the modern conveniences possible. I mean, we’ve heard about Johnny’s private island for many years, but I want some real dish on what the island is really like (not from an arial view). I hope it’s a better experience than the private-island Breaking Dawn honeymoon between Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. Does it have bulk food bins available? Does it have trailers nicer than Gary Oldman’s trailer? I need to know. Don’t leave me with a Twilight fantasy.

Amber Heard covers the February issue of French magazine Jalouse. The timing on this magazine cover couldn’t be more rotten for Vanessa Paradis. Even though Vanessa harbors no ill will for Johnny and Amber, I’m sure it won’t be easy to see Amber’s smug mug on French newsstands this month. This issue hits stands almost immediately after the fateful engagement was announced. You may notice the headline refers to Amber as the “girlfriend of Johnny Depp” because magazines don’t have the quick turnaround time that us gossip blogs do. Muhahahha.
I’ve been trying to get inside Amber’s head since the big announcement. From my POV, it wouldn’t bother me at all to find an insanely rich, A-list guy like Johnny Depp. That would mean instant financial security, and I can’t blame Amber for hopping on that. I’d like to think that I’d also continue working like she will probably do. What would bother me is the notion that better jobs and roles would come my way simply because of a husband. The media is much more interested in Amber now that she might (and I say “might”) become Mrs. Depp. Time and Parade have published “5 things to know” type lists, and that’s only the beginning. Will this translate into better roles for Amber one day? I think Katie Holmes knows the answer to that question.
What I’d really like to talk about is this Jalouse shoot. The cover is gorgeous. The editorial? That’s a whole other ballgame. Why does she want to look like a blow-up doll? She is intentionally making over-the-top, open-mouthed faces. This isn’t a case of a photographer asking her to relax her jaw. This is full-on beej mode. Is this what makes Amber such a free spirit? She looks like a sex doll. Not an artist.

That thing on Amber Heard’s finger that looked like an engagement ring? That’s what it was. A source confirmed the rumor to PEOPLE saying, “They couldn’t be happier to be engaged and excited to share the rest of their lives together. Amber has really taken well to the kids and really enjoys spending time with them.”
Depp, 50, split with Vanessa Paradis a few years back. Heard, 27, who came out as bisexual, split with Tasya van Ree a few years back as well.
According to friends, they’re a perfect match. Amber Heard, raised in Texas, loves shooting guns, driving fast cars (she drives a ’68 Mustang) and collecting books. Johnny Depp, raised in Florida, loves collecting books!
Sources say, “They couldn’t be happier.”

How’s this for some late-breaking Friday afternoon news? Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are as close to officially engaged as celebrities can get. Earlier this week, Kaiser mentioned in passing that Amber was spotted wearing a huge sparkler on her “important” finger. People published the photos, which I thought were quite telling. Amber was strategically covering and uncovering her hand. She was obviously wanting us to notice the ring, but she didn’t want to completely give away the goods. She wanted us to talk about it, and I can’t blame her. Most girls do the same thing, even if Amber always wants us to think she’s different from everyone else. Now Us Weekly has received word from an insider that Johnny and Amber are indeed engaged. They’ve been secretly engaged for awhile, allegedly. Here we go:
Johnny Depp really did put a ring on it! After Amber Heard was spotted trying to hide some suspiciously flashy bling on her left ring finger earlier this week, fans wondered whether the actress had secretly gotten engaged to her Rum Diary costar. The famously private couple have yet to confirm or deny either way, but sources tell Us Weekly they’re indeed planning to marry.
“The proposal happened a while ago,” one insider tells Us. “She just didn’t wear the ring.” (Celebuzz reported news of an engagement on Thursday.)
The 50-year-old Into the Woods actor first met his bride-to-be on the set of their movie The Rum Diary. They confirmed their relationship in June 2012, shortly after Depp announced his split from longtime love Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has two kids, daughter Lily-Rose, 14, and son Jack, 11.
Since then, the typically private duo have been spotted all over the world together, from Moscow to Japan, where they took Depp’s kids in July. More recently, on Saturday, Jan. 11, the duo appeared at the Art of Elysium’s 7th Annual HEAVEN Gala in L.A., where they held hands and posed for pictures. They also attended the 2014 Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 12.
Later this year, the couple will reunite onscreen in London Fields, a crime thriller based on the 1989 novel of the same name by Martin Amis. Depp has a cameo on the movie, which also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Jim Sturgess, and Theo James.

This is interesting, isn’t it? Johnny hasn’t been married (to a celebrity girlfriend) before, and he hasn’t been engaged for decades. He didn’t even marry Vanessa Paradis after they had two children together. He didn’t propose to Kate Moss either, for she surely would have accepted. But Amber has managed to pull off the impossible. Well played.
Also notable? I haven’t mentioned the term “mid-life crisis” until now.
Update by Celebitchy: People Magazine has a confirmation, along with quotes about how great Amber is with Johnny’s kids. Their source says “Of course they couldn’t be happier to be engaged and excited to share the rest of their lives together.
“Amber has really taken well to the kids and really enjoys spending time with them. And she’s even taken Lily shopping on her own for some bonding time.”
Considering how little Johnny says publicly about his children, and how he’s made it a point of not talking about his family, this is somewhat troublesome to me.
