Here are some photos from last night?s LA premiere of Irrational Man, the Woody Allen film starring Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone and Parker Posey. Those three came out for the premiere and I have to say? I think all three looked pretty great for who they are. You know? Joaquin made an effort to look presentable and while he wore his Chucks, I feel like he was freshly showered and wearing some nicer clothes. Parker Posey is one of my forever girl-crushes and I think she looks amazing in the animal print.
As for Emma? stylistically, I kind of wonder if she?s in a style rut. She wore this Giambattista Valli Resort 2016 dress which is perfectly pretty, but it seems like something she?s worn a million times before. She goes for pale, tea-length dresses too often. I?m adding a closeup of Emma so you can see her makeup too ? winged blue eyeliner.
After the premiere/screening, Parker and Emma hung out and did a Q&A session with fans. They both heaped praise on Woody Allen, and Parker even went so far as to say that she cried after Woody offered her a role: ?I broke down in tears. I was overcome. I pine for parts ? I want to play these parts, and I?ve been really bitter about not being in a Woody Allen movie for a long time!? It?s weird that Parker in particular has never been in a Woody Allen before now ? she seems tailor-made for Woody Allen films, and she?s mined the neurotic-New-Yorker characters for most of her career.

I?m really enjoying WSJ. Magazine these days. The NYT?s T Magazine used to be great, they used to do these in-depth profiles of interesting celebrities or up-and-coming actors, but T Magazine has sort of stopped doing that so much and WSJ. Magazine has taken up the mantel. Emma Stone covers the newest issue and this is honestly one of the best profiles I?ve ever read with Emma. Emma is smarter than the average starlet and in most interviews, she?s able to successfully withhold and deflect when it comes to personal information. But in this piece, she actually ends up talking about Andrew Garfield, Woody Allen (she?s promoting Irrational Man) and more. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
Moving back to LA after several years in NYC: ?It feels different being by the water. You?d be surprised at how much of life can be taken up by doing yoga and nothing.?
She had panic attacks as a kid: ?It was really bad. The first time I had a panic attack I was sitting in my friend?s house, and I thought the house was burning down. I called my mom and she brought me home, and for the next three years it just would not stop. I would go to the nurse at lunch most days and just wring my hands. I would ask my mom to tell me exactly how the day was going to be, then ask again 30 seconds later. I just needed to know that no one was going to die and nothing was going to change.?
She didn?t write a speech when she was nominated for an Oscar: ?Are you out of your mind? Are you actually insane? Patricia Arquette had that thing locked up!?
The rumors about her breakup with Andrew Garfield: ?See, I never talk about this stuff for this exact reason?because it?s all so speculative and baseless. Once you start responding?once you?re like, ?No, that?s not true??then they?re like, ?Well, if we push enough, we?ll get a comment, so let?s see what else we can make up.? I understand the interest in it completely because I?ve had it, too. But it?s so special to me that it never feels good to talk about, so I just continually don?t talk about it.?
When she walked around LA with a bad with Andrew?s name on it: ?When I picked up the bag, I was like, ?This is kind of funny if there are any [paparazzi] out there.? There?s probably some rebelliousness that comes out in me after all these stories and people texting you for weeks about something that, for the most part, is not true. But even when it?s false, I would rather just let it be false.?
Her pet peeves: Animals dressed in outfits, people who send eight texts instead of one (?Just take a second!?), classic names intentionally misspelled. ?Like Emily being E-M-A-L-I-E. Drives me crazy.?
Working with Woody Allen: ?It?s terrifying. He doesn?t do table reads or any rehearsal. You can?t even ask questions about your character, because he?ll be like: ?You know this is a movie, right?? ?
Why she turned down the all-female Ghostbusters reboot. ?The script was really funny. It just didn?t feel like the right time for me. A franchise is a big commitment?it?s a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water.?

The Andrew Garfield section is interesting. I see her point about not giving in to false reports, but she IS still reacting those reports, she?s just not issuing a statement. It?s like she?s making it more complicated than it needs to be ? when People, E! News, Us Weekly and Star all agree that Andrew and Emma had broken up, a simple ?No, they?re still together? from her rep would have been the easiest path. Except that I still believe they probably were on a break and they just got back together when they were finally back in the same city together.
There?s also a lengthy part where she talks about the Sony Hack and her personal information ending on Wikileaks, and how she got all these weird emails from fans. What else? There?s a part where she talks about having insomnia while doing Cabaret on stage and she would go online at 3 am and buy stuff to make her own lotions. She also confesses to being a lurker on mom blogs and baking blogs, and she even met one of her favorite baking bloggers and they made apple-cider donuts together in real life. Emma is? quirky.

I only recently became aware of the fact that there are Emma Stone-and-Andrew Garfield superfans, and those superfans are super-Twihardy about Emma and Andrew being together forever and ever. I?m not even joking about the Twihard thing ? there was a concerted effort by Emma & Andrew?s superfans to ?push back? against the widespread reports that they had split, to the point of Twitter harassment and a misinformation campaign to discredit all of the breakup rumors. The breakup rumors started at Star Magazine, yes, but within a week, all of the major outlets (People, E! News and Us Weekly) were running stories about the Stone-Garfield demise. The stories were pretty easy to write too: Andrew and Emma had been apart for months, he didn?t come to the Oscars with her, and ?sources close to Emma? were saying some bad stuff about Andrew?s behavior.
So what now? Andrew is back in the States after completing filming on Silence in Taiwan. Emma is doing some promotional work for Aloha and Irrational Man, but she?s been back in LA this week too. And for a few days, there have been multiple reports that Emma and Andrew have been seen out and about together? but they haven?t been photographed together. Still, E! News says they?re back on:
Everyone can rest easy, because it seems like everything on the Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield front are back on track. Fans of the Hollywood couple began filling up with hope after the duo, who were reportedly on the outs, were seen together again on multiple occasions. And although it was known that these two were spending some time apart, E! News learns that they never officially broke up.
“It was always a ‘break’ due to schedules,” a source tells E! News. “They have been really busy, so they finally have had time to see each other again. They care for each other and always have the best time when together.”
Stone and Garfield have been finding more time to be with each other as of late, with their most recent outing happening just last night. The two lovebirds stepped out to Sushi Park in West Hollywood on Wednesday for some dinner and weren’t shy about showing off some PDA.
According to an eyewitness, the pair “definitely looked like they were back together.”
Emma and Andrew were dressed super casual and sat at the sushi bar for their meal. Garfield wrapped his arm around his lady at one point, according to the insider, and spotted fellow celeb pal Amy Poehler at the restaurant before leaving. The famous trio stopped and chatted for a few minutes before leaving the venue.

So the Stone-Garfield Twihards can rest easy tonight. I?m still not entirely convinced that these multiple ?sightings? of Stone and Garfield haven?t simply come from an unhinged Stone-Garfield Twihard though ? it?s not that difficult to email a ?tip? to E! News about having just seen your two favorite people holding hands OMG, you know? That kind of thing happened all the time with the original Twihard couple, K-Stew and Sparkles. So? we?ll see. My guess is that they did take a break for a few months and now they?re working things out.

The Cannes Film Festival premiere of Woody Allen?s Irrational Man was held last night, and Joaquin Phoenix still did not show up. Which is interesting, and I?m guessing there?s some larger story there. But with Joaquin?s absence, that meant there was even more focus on Emma Stone and Parker Posey. And OMG.
Let?s start with Emma in this Christian Dior. It?s deceptively simple, beautifully tailored (which is unexpected for Raf Simons? reign), pale and lacy. I guess I should hate it since I?m not crazy about lace and I was hoping Emma would wear something bright. But I don?t hate it at all. I think she looks very beautiful and very ?Emma?. I liked that she went high drama with her updo (I?m including a photo of the back of her head because it?s actually one of the most beautiful photos from the group) and I love the diamond choker. She looks sophisticated but not too ?mature.? She looks ethereal without looking bridal. It?s a difficult balance and she pulls it off.
As for Parker Posey? OMG. This is apparently a custom look by ?Electric Feathers.? It?s sort of ?when Gloria Swanson met Mrs. Roper.? And I kind of think it?s perfect. It?s ?70s, it?s crazy, it looks cheap, and it?s totally ?Parker Posey.? Note to Eva Mendes: this is how to work a turban.

Enjoying some time in the South of France, Emma Stone showed up the 68th Cannes Film Festival on Friday morning (May 15).
The ?Easy A? actress was joined by director Woody Allen and Parker Posey for a press conference ahead of the premiere of the new flick ?Irrational Man.?
Allen told press that he?s not entering ?Irrational Man? in the competition- ?I?ve never had a film in competition in my life. I just don?t feel you can say one film is better than another. Who?s to say some arbitrarily appointed group of judges can decide one is better? Is The Godfather better than Goodfellas, or whatever came out the same calendar year? You don?t make these films to compete. People make films for different reasons. For money. Or, they make them because something in them demands artistic expression. I do it because I enjoy the work. Once a film is over and I see it in this room and we?ve taken it as far as we can go, with no room for improvement? that?s it. It leaves this room and I never see it again ever, for the rest of my life.?

Here are some photos of Emma Stone out and about in LA yesterday. Everyone is talking about these photos? which is what Emma wants. That?s why she?s posing for photos this way, why she?s positioned that one bag a certain way. As you can see, the brown bag has ?ANDREW GARFIELD? written in block-letters at the top. Emma wants you to see that. She wants us to speculate. Why?
Well, at the beginning of April, Star Magazine got the ball rolling on the breakup rumors. Star claimed that Andrew and Emma were on a break and it might be temporary. It took a week before other outlets ? People, E! News, Us Weekly ? followed suit. The explanations given ranged from ?they grew apart? to ?he was working too much? to ?he?s really intense and in a dark place? to ?he wasn?t a good boyfriend lately.? It did seem like there was a wink-nudge confirmation, specifically from Emma?s camp, blaming Andrew for the breakup. We also know that Emma left NYC (temporarily?) and has been holed up in LA for a while.
So does the bag with Andrew?s name mean that Emma and Andrew are fine and there?s nothing to see? Does it mean they did break up but have now reconciled? Or does it mean that Emma put all of Andrew?s crap into a paper bag and she?s dropping it off with one of bros because she?s totally done with him? I have no idea.
Incidentally, there was some confusion last week with the Star Magazine story about Andrew allegedly cheating on Emma. Pajiba linked to our story and did their own write-up, only Pajiba commenters claimed that the whole thing was based on an OK! Magazine story. It was not. The original source was Star Magazine?s print edition (I transcribed the story myself). If the original source is OK! Magazine, I will say so, usually adding a huge caveat of ?this is from OK! Mag so it?s probably crap.? Star Magazine was actually the first to report Emma and Andrew?s breakup, and they?re the first to say Andrew cheated, which may or may not be crap, we simply don?t know. But I gave Star?s report last week some extra weight because they were the first to report the breakup.

The first week in April, Star Magazine claimed that Emma Stone and Andew Garfield had ?hit a rough patch? and had decided to go on a break. Sources emphasized that the split was mostly about timing, schedules and the fact that Andrew was thousands of miles away, filming a movie. A week later, all of the legit gossip outlets confirmed the news ? Us Weekly, People, E! News all said pretty much the same thing, that the break probably wasn?t permanent, but that they were on a break. Now Us Weekly says that Emma and Andrew actually had real problems beyond competing schedules, and that Emma dumped Andrew because she?s totally done with him. Whoa.
They’ll always have The Amazing Spider-Man. As reported earlier this month, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone went their separate ways recently after dating for more than three years. And while sources initially told Us Weekly they were just taking a breather, an insider now says their blockbuster romance is over for good.
Stone, 26, “ended things and moved back to L.A.,” the source reveals in the April 27 issue of Us. “It’s finished. It’s not just a break.”
One factor in their apparent split was Garfield’s intense commitment to his role as a 17th-century Jesuit in director Martin Scorsese’s upcoming movie Silence, which costars Adam Driver and Liam Neeson.
“He’d been in a dark place for months, getting into his role,” a second insider tells Us of the Never Let Me Go actor, 31, who lost nearly 40 pounds in preparation for the film and has been shooting in Taiwan since January. “He wasn’t being the best partner.”

My gut reaction, weeks ago, was that Andrew was a fool for letting Emma go, but I also believe that HE is the high-maintenance one. He?s the one with drama and issues, he?s the one letting his ego get in the way of his relationships. So, yes, I can totally see why Emma would reach a point where she was all, ?You know what? I?m tired of the drama. I?m done.? Poor Emma. Well, pretty much every dude out there wants Emma to be his girlfriend, so I?m interested in seeing what her next dating-move will be.

Emma has an apartment in NYC and I think Andrew lives there with her. Anyway, Star Magazine says that Emma and Andrew are ?taking a break? because of competing work schedules and never seeing each other.

Does this make you sad? I?m sort of sad, but I also feel like? yeah, maybe they need some space from each other. They were such a cute couple but I sometimes worried that Andrew wasn?t as supportive as he should be of Emma?s career. But hey, maybe this is just a temporary break and they?ll be back together by the end of the year. You never know.
