Jennifer Garner and Gisele Bundchen attended an event last night to support the Just Label It project, which is advocating for federal mandates of food labeling for genetically modified consumer products. Both discussed the importance of transparency in the food industry, something that is sorely lacking when it comes to genetically modified food. Garner said that she’s able to buy non-GMO foods (she probably shops at Whole Paycheck Foods) but that the rest of the country doesn’t have that luxury. She also talked about growing her own food and helping her children understand the origins of their food. You can see a brief video interview with Garner on E! Online.
Garner on why she got involved with the cause
My friend Gisele and I are fed up with being kept in the dark about GMO and non-GMO labeling,” Garner said. “I got involved because she said, ‘Do you know what’s happening?’ She’s a firecracker. She said, ‘You have to educate yourself.
It’s easy for me to shop at places where foods are labeled. Only 3% of the food we produce is non-GMO. But if that 3% is available to you, you kind of take that for granted, but the rest of the country is being fed food – certainly all of the animals that are being turned into our meat, they’re all being fed food that’s been genetically modified.
How Garner educates her children about food
I cook for my kids, and we have a garden. We try to grow whatever we can, although I can?t say we have the hugest crop in the world, but I do try to pay close attention and I do my best.
But we talk about our food, we grow food, we talk about what goes into it and how hard it is. They planted it, they water it, they take pictures next to it. I’m a geek.
On what Garner cooks for her kids
I make everything. Roasted chicken and mashed potatoes, gravy, homemade bread, corn on the cob, you know, whatever.

This is a very important cause to me as an individual, as a parent and as a mother. I am here tonight because I believe we have the right to know what’s in our food.
Food sustains our bodies, minds and souls, and as a mother, I feel it is my responsibility to know what I am feeding my family. We need transparency in our food industry.

I’ve heard reports claiming the GMO foods are no riskier and that people are overreacting to the potential threat. However in the EU GMO foods are very strictly regulated to the point where most GMO crops are banned. The way I understand it, it’s not about the risk to human health so much as the potential agricultural issues that come up with GMO crops, such as cross contamination. Plus, we simply don’t know the long term effects of GMO foods on human health. At the very least we can have labeling for foods to help inform consumers. I eat non-organic vegetables from the grocery store, (organic veggies don’t last as long, are more expensive, and aren’t more nutritionally valuable) but I do think this is a worthy cause. It’s not necessarily going to get me to buy non-GMO food, but I think consumers should be informed about it.
Good for Garner for growing her own vegetables with her family and teaching her children where their food comes from. I’m not that ambitious and am not a gardener, but I appreciate it when people grow their own food. It’s a cause that Michelle Obama has helped champion, too. Children should also know what an environmental burden it is to raise animals for meat. I feel like I should mention that on Earth Day. If we can reduce our meat consumption and substitute local meat where possible we can reduce our impact on the environment.

Jennifer Garner has been doing the talk show circuit to promote her role in Danny Collins, with Al Pacino, Annette Bening and Bobby Cannavale. It’s about an aging rockstar (Pacino) taking stock of his life and just came out this week. Garner plays his daughter-in-law. The above photo is of Garner at the premiere a couple of days ago. Her styling is ok and I like the cut of that gown, but it’s very plain. She has a tendency to go for solid colors and black on the red carpet and I wish she would mix it up a little.
In Garner’s appearance on The Today Show earlier this week, she wore a little red dress that would have been a better choice for the premiere. She also started crying when she talked about her Southern Living photoshoot with her mom and sisters. It was hard to watch her try to keep it together, and then she explained that she was upset over two earlier sad segments which had just aired. Here’s what she said and you can watch the video below.
During a chat with TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie, Garner opened up about her feelings for family, and she didn’t hold anything back ? not even tears.
“There’s just nothing like sharing the spotlight or anything else with your sisters and your mom,” she said when discussing the recent Southern Living photo shoot she did with her family. “It’s always fun for me to get my sisters dolled up and my mom.”
With that sweetly sentimental mention, Garner couldn’t help but cry a bit. But as it turned out, there was more to the waterworks than just that.
The star shared that not only is her mother, Patricia, feeling under the weather today (get well soon, Mom!), but Garner had just watched two particularly moving moments on TODAY.
“You showed those babies and Leah Still,” she said of TODAY’s stories on a recently widowed father who’s raising his newborn quadruplets on his own and Devon Still’s daughter’s battle against cancer. “I just watched it, and I can’t even take it.”
Garner smiled through her tears, and while she offered up an apology for crying, we can’t imagine a reason to be sorry. If anything, we just find her even more lovable and relatable than ever before.
“We just took a vote,” Matt Lauer said as the interview came to a close. “We just put Jennifer in the list of best guests ever.”

I’m a cryer like that. I cry at commercials, at stories on the radio (this made me cry this morning but I told myself it was the Zyrtec) and especially if I’m talking about anyone who died. This reminds me of how Angelina Jolie usually cries when she talks about her departed mom. I hope Garner’s mom is ok and that she was really getting choked up over the show.
Meanwhile Garner was also on Jimmy Fallon, where she told a funny story about how one of her daughters (she didn’t specify which one) insisted on being carried after another baby came along. She also said that her kids regularly pinch each other. One complaint about Garner’s appearance on Fallon – it was St. Patrick’s Day and she wasn’t wearing green! Maybe they taped it ahead of time and she didn’t realize it would air on St. Patrick’s Day. Otherwise there is no excuse for not wearing green.

She?s been a busy lady as of late and last night (March 18) Jennifer Garner showed up at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater in Manhattan for the premiere of her new flick ?Danny Collins.?
The ?Butter? babe looked fabulous as always while mingling with the guests and posing for paparazzi photos before heading inside to find her seat.
Earlier in the day, Jennifer stopped by the ?Today? show where she became emotional when Savannah Guthrie mentioned the Southern Living photo she did with her mother and sisters. "It makes me cry to see their faces so I won't look [at the screen]. There's just nothing like sharing the spotlight or anything else with your sisters and your mom. It's always fun for me to get my sisters dolled up, and my mom."

Jennifer Garner is a busy lady. She’s about to get back to work and she’s thrilled about it after taking a lot of time off to be a stay-at-home mom. When Garner stays at home she also gives it her all. In a press conference for her upcoming movie, Danny Collins (we covered some other quotes she gave for the film yesterday), Garner said that she’s very involved in her daughters’ school and extracurricular activities. She said she’s been the room mom for Seraphina for two years in a row and also works as the Girl Scout leader for Violet. That’s some commitment. Here’s more, thanks to People:
On sharing parenting tips with Reese Witherspoon
If I run into Reese, she and I have so much to talk about. We?ll be on the street corner and just be like, ?What do you do about this, and how did you handle this? I?m so grateful for that very specific kind of friend.
On her morning routine with the kids
I make sure everyone has notes for their lunch box every day and [figure out] who?s having something special, and deciding who I read extra to [in the] morning.
She will check in on Ben soon
I?m going straight to New York from here, and then I?m going to visit Ben [on set in Atlanta to] make sure he?s good. It?s just what you do.
On volunteering at her daughters’ school
I?ve been the room mom for pre-school and kindergarten this year, and I?m the Girl Scout troop leader for third grade. When I?m home, I dive in, [and] I try to Betty Crocker it up as much as I can.

Garner is one of three girls, she’s close to her family and she’s said in the past that her two sisters are very hands-on crafty moms. So I get why she’s so involved in her daughter’s school. I’m busy gossiping all day and have a ton of other stuff to do. It would be too much for me to work at my son’s school too. I do help my son with his homework and activities and I donate to the school. Plus I live in a small town and the PTA and school activities can be incredibly political. There are surely rewards to it, but you have to be a people pleaser to deal with some of the things that come up. We know Garner is a people pleaser. She makes that pretty clear. In comparison, Reese knows the cat is out of the bag and she doesn’t care as much at this point what we think of her. There’s a kind of power in that.
Also, I think Garner has the time to write notes to her kids and read to them because she’s probably not the one preparing their lunches or getting them ready. She’s an involved mom, she just has help. That also explains why she has time for all the activities.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have an arrangement, similar to Brad and Angelina (although Brad and Angelina are no longer as stringent about it), where if one of them is working the other tries to be available to stay home with their children. Affleck mentioned this during a speech in 2012 in which he bemoaned the fact that his wife’s work schedule kept him from directing the Showtime hit Homeland. He said that “my wife and I have an arrangement where when she works, I don?t work and when I work, she doesn?t work.” Affleck has also said that he’d much rather be working than staying at home being a dad, although he does do that sometimes due to the arrangement with his wife.
That’s why, when Jennifer Garner goes back to work, she gets super excited and talks about it like it’s a great opportunity. It makes me a little sad for her, but then I remember her acting and don’t feel so bad. Anyway Garner is promoting her film Danny Collins, which stars Al Pacino as a famous musician trying to find himself in his twilight years. It also features Annette Bening, Christopher Plummer and Bobby Cannavale. Garner plays the wife of Pacino’s long lost son, Cannavale. You can see the trailer here and the film is out March 20. Here’s some of what Garner said in a recent press conference for the movie:
“I’ve been home for a long time,” Garner spilled. “It’s my turn and I’m going to go to work this spring. I think I?ll work the spring and summer, maybe the fall too, as long as some of it’s at home. I don’t think my deals are done yet so I can’t say, but yeah, I’m about to go to work.”
“I really choose by what I like,” Garner said at the Danny Collins event on Sunday, March 1. “I thought Alexander was a super smart script. Just [costar] Steve [Carell] alone would have been enough, gosh I love working with that guy, he’s just the best.”
“I have had the best luck with costars, I?m just saying. And I’ve only married a couple of them,” Garner continued, joking about Affleck, whom she met on the set of the movie Pearl Harbor, and first husband Scott Foley, whom she started dating after working together on the classic series Felicity. “But yeah that was fun for me. My kids really got a lot of juice out of the fact that I was in that movie. I heard about a little kid saying to their mom the other day at school. The mom said something about Ben and the little kid said no Sera’s mom is a movie star, and her dad just comes along. I was like that’s awesome, because she saw Alexander.”
“Ben is super busy and I’m super happy for him,” the Valentine’s Day star said. “I chose to stay home this year and just said, ‘Go for it babe. Do it all. Do Gone Girl, do Batman, do The Accountant. Do everything.’ I want that for him and I’m happy for him. And he says the same to me. Except that he’s really busy. But he understands that when I really have to do it, we figure it out.”
“You’d be amazed how we figure it out,” she added. “I’ve never been away for more than I think four days. Maybe once I was gone for my kids for five days… I sit down at the beginning of the movie and say to the people making the schedule, ‘Let’s look at this.’ Then I figure out where I’m going to take the kid and when I can get home.”

Those two figure it out because they have a lot of help, but they do mention that occasionally. No shade on having help and good for them for being there for their kids if that’s what they want to do. If they both want to work, that’s fine too. I get the impression that Ben would like to work at all times and that Garner makes him get a taste of life with the kids so he realizes how hard it is.
Here’s a photo of Garner out for a walk on 2-7. I’m pretty sure that’s her nanny and that she’s had the same nanny for four years, which is awesome for her kids.

Jennifer Garner has a new interview on Yahoo! beauty with famed makeup artist Bobbi Brown. It’s a good read with a conversational tone. Garner gives a lot of details about her beauty routine, which of course relies heavily on various Neutrogena products, for which she’s a spokesperson. She also talks about the anti-paparazzi law that passed in California in late 2013, making it a crime to “seriously alarm, annoy, torment or terrorize” children when photographing or recording them. The law passed after Garner and Halle Berry testified in front of the California State Assembly Judiciary Committee.
BB: I know you were a big part of the bill that passed to protect kids from paparazzi. Could you tell me about that?
JG: Halle Berry passed the bill and she let me be a small part of it. And then, Kristen Bell went out and convinced all of the tabloid magazines to agree not to print photos of kids, and it?s changed my kids? lives! It?s been over a year, and there isn?t a day, that we don?t talk about how different it is. If they?re right outside your house, then when your kids wants to learn to ride a bike, it?s very uncomfortable. They don?t want to go biking in the middle of a photoshoot. But now my kids can go out and just go for a walk or go to the mailbox?things that we just didn?t do. Sometimes I still have paparazzi, myself, and sometimes they will shoot my kids, and I keep track of it. I will definitely take them to court if I have enough to make a case.
I have to say, I really didn?t think that was possible. I tip my hat to Halle and Kristen. I thought they were both shooting at something that couldn?t be caught, and they did it.
BB: Don?t you think healthy skin also has a lot with what you eat?
JG: Yes, I eat a lot, a lot of salads. That?s the way that I get my veggies. I eat lots of leafy greens, dark greens, with rice too because I want it to be a meal. I just have a big bag of greens that I get from the farmer?s market on Sunday. I keep it in a Ziploc bag and I just pull out handfuls of it for lunch everyday and add whatever I have to it.
BB: Does your husband eat the way you do? Are you both on the same page in terms of health and eating?
JG: He will eat the way I do unless he?s in the middle of really, really training for something. And then, it?s such a different thing. Every calorie and every gram of protein?everything?s counted in a way that? I don?t know how he does it.
BB: What happens when you come home from an awards ceremony and you?re like, OK, I haven?t eaten in two days to get into this dress. What is your go-to splurge? Pizza?
JG: Oh, I never do that. I don?t wear crazy dresses. With food I?m probably good 80% of the time. I?ve found out that I cannot pass up pizza without having some. I just can?t! My kids have a lot of pizza. I can?t go to a kids birthday party without having a slice.
I mean, believe me, there?s always a point in the fitting where I feel like, ?Why I didn?t I just try to lose four pounds and then I could wear any dress?? I just can?t though. I dieted for so long in the middle of doing Alias and being a superhero, that there?s something in me that can?t do anything that extreme.

I like Garner’s approach to eating, which seems sensible and is pretty close to how I eat. I eat a huge salad for lunch every day and I try to eat well most of the time, with the occasional treat. Also, Garner works out with a trainer every morning at her house, she didn’t mention that in this interview.
As far as the paparazzi issue, we don’t publish many photos of kids so I didn’t realize how much it’s changed for some celebrities since the law passed. Plus we still see a lot of photos of her children. I’m glad things are better for her family now, particularly for her children, who never asked for the attention.

I think she’s scaling back her acting and doing more endorsement gigs, like Neutrogena and Capital One, but she obviously doesn’t talk about that.

On Thursday (December 11) the ?Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? hunk took his ?Alias? lady for a leisurely, kid-free stroll in Los Angeles and they couldn?t stop smiling. Ben wrapped his arm around Jennifer and gazed into her eyes as they chatted away in the chilly fall weather. Mr. Affleck looked especially sharp in a tan trench coat and black jeans, though a black coat-clad Ms. Garner?s beauty definitely stole the moment.

Last month, Jen discussed a typical date with Ben- "We're boring parents, so we just play with the girls. I'll usually cook a meal for everyone, help them with homework, that's usually our date night. Otherwise, he's an amazing husband."

They?re big supporters for social rights and Ben Affleck teamed up with wife Jennifer Garner for the second annual Save the Children Illumination Gala at the Plaza Hotel in New York City on Wednesday night (November 19).
The hot Hollywood couple got all gussied up in their finest duds for the red carpet event where the ?Argo? star was honored with the Global Child Advocate Award for his work with the organization.
"He works on Eastern Congo Initiative, and I work on the U.S. programs for Save the Children, and within that, I really work on getting kids started on the right foot from birth to 5, helping families get their kids up and ready for school and healthy," Garner told the Associated Press. "We don't scatter our energy around."

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner will pose for the occasional paparazzi photos together, especially around Awards season, but they generally don’t walk red carpets together. Garner has said it’s because she doesn’t want to just be known as the ‘wife of’ a famous husband, but I tend to think it’s Affleck’s idea and she’s just been going along with it. They did make an exception to pose together at the Vanity Fair Oscar party this year and last year, when Argo took home Best Picture.
Here are some photos of the two, married since 2005, at the Save The Children gala in New York last night. Affleck looks a little tipsy to me. Maybe it’s jet lag, but there’s something about his eyes that make it look like he’s had a few. Garner just looks happy to be there and to pose with her husband.
Affleck was there to accept the Global Child Advocate Award for his work founding The Eastern Congo Initiative. In his acceptance speech, Affleck mentioned his argument with Bill Maher and author Sam Harris when he was a guest on Maher’s show last month. Affleck claimed he was making a “Sesame Street” argument that “you don’t judge a whole group of people based on the actions of a few.” I think Affleck was mischaracterizing Harris’ position at least (Maher went a little far with it as is typical of him) and that there was no point in bringing it up again weeks later. Obviously he’s been thinking about it in the interim. Affleck also talked about the charity work that he and his wife do, and I found that part of his speech moving:
Ben Affleck feels more comfortable speaking his mind than pretending to say what people want to hear. So before receiving his award at Wednesday’s Save the Children Illumination Gala, he praised wife Jennifer Garner on her dedication to their family, and then shared insight into his recent spat with “Real Time” host Bill Maher over generalized remarks about Islam.
On an episode last month, Affleck took issue with Maher saying that Islam is “the only religion that acts like the Mafia.”
“I was ultimately making a ‘Sesame Street’ argument. You don’t judge a whole group of people based on the actions of a few,” Affleck said of their heated debate.
The “Gone Girl” actor makes no bones about speaking his mind when it comes to hot-button issues.
“That’s the environment around my dinner table when we talk politics,” he said. “I think I’d rather tell the truth and say what I believe in and make people unhappy than sort of pretend to think something else to accommodate them and try to be liked. That’s just the way it goes and I don’t think I’m any great champion of anything, but if they’re going to put me on a show, I’m going to say what I think.”
As for Garner, the 42-year-old actor says he’s grateful that his wife takes on the “lion’s share” of responsibilities, dedicating her time to raising their three young children, while maintaining her career and charity work.
“She’s been really smart about choosing her projects, doing ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ or ‘Alexander and the Terrible Day,’ smart, good movies that luckily have been successful. And then, they’re not so time-consuming that she can’t do this work and be there for our kids, which is the most important thing to her,” Affleck said.
Garner spoke of how the couple divides their time for philanthropy.
“He works on Eastern Congo Initiative, and I work on the U.S. programs for Save the Children, and within that, I really work on getting kids started on the right foot from birth to 5, helping families get their kids up and ready for school and healthy,” she said, adding: “We don’t scatter our energy around.”
Affleck co-founded the Eastern Congo Initiative in 2010 with Whitney Williams. The organization advocates the economic and social growth of the country through various programs. And while some of their missions focus on the well-being of children, Affleck says he doesn’t make “value judgments” of where the problems are more dire.
“There are children in the United States, my wife has traveled, been in their homes in Kentucky, West Virginia, in the central valley of California who can’t speak and they’re 4 years old, who can’t read until five years later than they should, who get no stimuli, who are really suffering, and we recognize it. In this country, with our wealth, with our, I think, decency and empathy, we should be taking care ? at the very least educating all of our citizenry.”
He added: “I also think it’s important to take care of people who are suffering on a different level, which is in Eastern Congo suffering from war and famine and preventable disease. And where maternal health is non-existent, so 1 in 5 children dies before the age of 5.”

It’s hard to fathom that there are kids in our country who live in such dire conditions that they can’t talk until they’re four. Good for Ben and Jen for dedicating their time to charity. I’m happy they posed together and now that I know more about the event I understand why they did it. They’re united in their charity work for children. I would love it if they just started walking the red carpet together at most events from now on, but I doubt that’s going to happen.

Taking advantage of some free time, Jennifer Garner was flying solo in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon (October 23).
The lovely ?Butter? actress parked her Range Rover and hopped out while chatting on her mobile phone and strolled into a local shop.
Earlier this week, Jennifer addressed the Elle Women in Hollywood event regarding the entertainment industry?s double standard.
?The ?men in Hollywood? event is every day - it?s called Hollywood. Fifty-one per cent of the population should not have to schedule a special event to celebrate the fact that in an art that tells the story of what it means to be human and alive, we get to play a part.?
