Jennifer Garner was one of the honorees at the Elle Women in Hollywood event. She wore this very young purple sparkly dress which looked cheap and was tailored poorly, in my opinion. She also had on some nude lipstick that washed out her face. (Garner’s showing at Matthew McConaughey’s GQ event last night was much better. Kaiser covered that here.) During her speech at the event, Garner mentioned that Hollywood is run by men and that it can seem very sexist at times, especially when viewed through the prism of her life. She mentioned that she always gets asked about how she balances work and family life while her husband, Ben Affleck, never does. Then she complimented Emily Ratajkowski’s boobs.
At last night’s Elle Women in Hollywood event, honoree Jennifer Garner gave one hell of a passionate speech about sexism in the entertainment industry.
After being presented by Steve Carell, Ben Affleck’s other half took that stage to share a personal story the brought the audience to cheers and applause.
“The fact that there even needs to be a Women in Hollywood event is a little bit sad,” gorgeous Garner said during the annual event at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills. “I mean, the men in Hollywood event is every day?it’s called Hollywood. Fifty-one percent of the population should not have to have to schedule a special event to celebrate the fact that in an art that tells the story of what it means to be human and alive, we get to play a part.”
She went on, “So for example, my husband and I do kind of the same job, a little bit. Not long ago we both had one of those magical days, we call it a junket, where we both attended these lovely events where people come in every four minutes, they ask the same questions over and over again, you know the drill. We got home at night and we compared notes. And I told him every single person who interviewed me, I mean every single one, and this is true of the red carpet here tonight Elle, asked me, ?How do you balance work and family?’ and he said the only thing that people asked him repeatedly was about the tits on the ?Blurred Lines’ girl, which, for the record if we’re talking about them, they are real and they are fabulous [Garner's referencing Affleck's Gone Girl co-star Emily Ratajkowski]. After a pause for laughter, Garner continued, “As for work-life balance, he said no one asked him about it that day. As a matter of fact, no one had ever asked him about it. And we do share the same family. Isn’t it time to kinda change that conversation?”

It could be a self-perpetuating cycle, but Garner often talks about her work and family balance in interviews. That makes sense if people are asking about it, but I’ve heard her bring it up seemingly spontaneously on Letterman (although it was likely preplanned with her approval), on Extra and in multiple other interviews. In fact I just rewatched an interview she did with Extra when Samuel was five months old and she’s the one who broached the topic. All the Extra journalist did was congratulate her on the baby and she volunteered that “it’s absolute chaos, I really did not realize how much more work three was going to be than two. I’ve been a little overwhelmed.” There’s nothing wrong with that by any stretch, but she brought it up. This is her image as a devoted mom and I believe it’s genuine and that she perpetuates it. So it doesn’t seem sexist to me when people ask about it.
Also, Affleck has said many times that it’s harder for him to stay home with the kids, that he’d rather be working and that Garner does all the work with their children. Plus we know he loves boobs. Maybe it’s not sexism so much on the media’s part as just a normal response to their public personas. In no way am I suggesting that sexism does not exist in Hollywood, just that Garner’s examples don’t ring true for me. I’m glad she brought it up though.

These are photos of some of the fashion at the Elle Women in Hollywood event last night. Kaiser told me that Calvin Klein sponsored the event. While I don’t have a designer ID on Jennifer Garner’s sparkly purple cap sleeve number, it’s possibly Calvin Klein. This is a fug dress with little shape. It looks like she should be wearing a bodysuit underneath for when she tumbles. Maybe Garner should fire Rachel Zoe as her stylist.
I sort-of like her styling, I’m glad she ditched the bangs and her makeup is decent, but that nude lipstick has to go and it looks like she’s been hitting the Botox.
Emmy Rossum went for a menswear look in a sexy Versace pantsuit which works, IMO. She’s showing a little skin at the neck but she’s not hanging out of it, and her high ponytail and cat eyes complement the look well. She looks hot. I would have made Emmy the headliner but no one comments on her posts.
Sarah Paulson paid tribute to the late Oscar de la Renta in a whimsical sequin and feather de la Renta gown that fits her like a glove. This dress is so thoughtful, I love how the square sequins on the bodice are broken up by the oval inkblot beading at the neckline, which mirrors the feathers on the skirt. It’s perfectly balanced.
Andie MacDowell didn’t bring her fashion game, she was wearing a scoop neck navy top and black skinny jeans, but she looks amazing right? She’s 56 years old. I’ve covered Andie several times and I should know this, but I would have put her in her mid 40s tops.

It seems like every few months the tabloids claim that she?s got a bun in the oven, and Jennifer Garner is ready to set the record straight.
During her interview on ?The Ellen DeGeneres Show,? the ?Alias? actress explained, ?I get congratulated all the time by people that I know, saying, ?I hear you?re pregnant!? You know, this one woman who had babysat for us said, ?Oh, my gosh! I can?t wait for No. 4!? and I thought, ?What is going on?? So I asked around and apparently I have a baby bump. And I?m here to tell you that I do.?
And as the audience went wild, Jen interrupted- ?Hold up. Hold right up! I am not pregnant, but I have had three kids, and there is a bump. From now on ladies, I will have a bump. And it will be my baby bump. And let?s just all settle in and get used to it. It?s not going anywhere. I have a bump? like a camel, but in reverse.?
As for the success of her hubby Ben Affleck's new movie ?Gone Girl,? Jennifer agreed with Ellen that the draw was definitely Affleck?s penis. Garner shared, ?I think you?re probably onto something and what I have to say is? you?re welcome! You know, I try to consider myself a charitable person and I wanted to give back. You give me so much and I wanted to give something back.?

Jennifer Garner covers October’s InStyle, and I’m pretty sure she’s wearing all Burberry Prosum. I’ve seen that gorgeous wrap, which can be personalized and retails for $1,895, on Olivia Palermo and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. I think she’s wearing this silk dress accessorized with this belt and scarf. That outfit is worth more than my car and it’s gorgeous.
Inside, Garner gets somewhat candid, judging from the quotes that have been released so far. She talks about her marriage of nine years and how it’s been a whirlwind of babies and responsibility from the get-go. (At least that’s what I read into it.) She also discusses the parental roles in her marriage, and how her husband Ben is the fun one.
On her marriage
“You can’t expect to be courted all the time, and I don’t want to court him right now ? I don’t have the energy!” Jennifer Garner says of husband Ben Affleck in InStyle magazine’s October cover story.
“But we’re definitely in a very mindful place where we’re making an effort to be together, do things at the same time, and be loving…
On making time for each other
“When we had our first [child] we had only been together a year. We were babies. It happened so fast, I hardly remember what we were like before the kids got here,” says Garner, 42, of Violet, 8, Seraphina, 5, and Samuel, 2. “Now we’re just starting to go away for a night here and there.”
On their different roles as parents
“I know who wants what lunch, and I’ve done all the school paperwork and filled out the emergency cards. Ben doesn’t know that stuff exists,” says Garner.
“He is in charge of laughter. No matter how much I tickle them or toss them or chase them around, it’s not the same. If I’m the slow, steady drumbeat, he’s the jazz.”

Affleck has pretty much said the same thing about his parenting style in earlier interviews. He’s said that he finds downtime with the kids hard, that he doesn’t want to be a stay-at-home dad and that his wife is a “saint and does so much of the work [parenting] because I?m inept and she?s a genius.” I don’t know, I don’t think it’s fair for one parent to have all the responsibility while the other one swoops in to play with the kids. These two have day nannies, it’s not like Garner is shouldering all the responsibility. It would be nice for Ben to help out somewhat and try to understand what it involves, though.

These are photos of Jennifer Garner at the Toronto Film Festival over the weekend promoting her new movie, with Adam Sandler, Men, Women and Children. The black dress with the side fishnet panels is what she wore to the premiere, it’s Stella McCartney. She’s wearing the eggplant colored dress at a press conference, that’s Proenza Schouler. The dresses are somewhat plain but I like her styling. She looks sexay with all that hair, I’m sure there are a lot of extensions in there but they look good. She’s also shown fresh-faced at the airport.
I just watched the trailer for the film and I think it explores how technology is changing us into secretive, sneaky people or bring out that aspect of our humanity or something. It’s hard to tell what the movie is about exactly. Men, Women and Children is directed and written by Jason Reitman (Up in The Air, Juno) so it could be decent.
In an interview with E! (video here), Garner fielded questions about technology and about her husband, Ben Affleck, getting in wicked good shape to play Battfleck. Her answers were kind of funny, and I like that she admitted she’s not sure what to do as a mom.
In real life, Garner, 42, and Ben Affleck, 42, are parents to daughters Violet Affleck, 8, Seraphina Affleck, 5, and son Samuel Affleck, 2. How do they know when to let their kids start using technology?’
“It’s all such a constant conversation, isn’t it?” Garner marveled. “I think we’re all as a society figuring out what’s appropriate. I mean, we can’t keep in front of what our kids are learning or seeing or using, technology-wise. It’s happening before we can even…We’re all running to catch up, us stupid grown-ups! Thank goodness my kids are little enough that they’re far from having phones or iPads or anything.”
Giddings noted that it was much different when he was growing up, and Garner agreed with that notion. “Maybe you got your hands on a Playboy at some point and you were like, ‘Wow!’” the actress joked.
But back to Affleck!
The actor beefed up for his role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which has been shooting in the Detroit area all summer. Anna Faris recently said she preferred Chris Pratt before he gained muscle for Guardians of the Galaxy, but Garner said she has no preference when it comes to her hubby’s physique.
“He was in crazy shape for The Town,” she said, referring to the film Affleck co-wrote and directed. “I’ve seen him kind of in every different variation, so I’ll take him however I can get him! But as long as this is the guy I’m married to, I’m kind of like, ‘Wow! That’s crazy!’ He looks insane. He’s worked really hard.”
“If he happened to go back to being a normal human, I’d be fine with that, too,” she added.
Men, Women & Children is in limited release Oct. 3 and opens nationwide Oct. 17.

I don’t agree that you can’t necessarily keep in front of what your kids learn and see. NetNanny. Use it. Don’t let your kids use a computer or tablet when you’re not in the same room unless you have parental controls set on it. Check their internet history. If you take preventative measures and talk to your kids, you can make it harder for them to see anything inappropriate. In general my son is ahead of me with technology, though, I know what she means.
I also wonder if she means her kids don’t use iPads or if they personally don’t have their own. We have two iPads, a 1 and a 2, and technically they’re mine but my son uses them. He also uses my phone. I have seen photos of both Garner and Affleck with iPads so I bet their kids use them and they supervise them. That’s different than not letting them use technology at all.

Enjoying a rare child-free outing, Ben Affleck took his wife Jennifer Garner out for some errands in Brentwood on Sunday (August 17).
Having recently battled another round of pregnancy rumors, the ?Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? hunk and his ?Butter? babe were less-than-thrilled to see shutterbugs nearby as they scurried back to their car.
After grabbing some icy cool beverages, Ben and Jen sped off in Affleck?s enviable 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 and Ms. Garner tended to some texts on her iPhone.
And pretty soon, Ben will begin promoting his much-anticipated flick ?Gone Girl,? as it?s slated to hit theaters October 3rd.

Kicking off the week with a little real estate shopping, Jennifer Garner toured several properties in her neighborhood that were ?for sale? on Monday (August 11).
The ?Alias? actress donned a tucked-in black t-shirt with a denim skirt and an army green jacket as she perused the listings and chatted on her mobile phone.
Meanwhile, Jen has been targeted by another round of pregnancy rumors as of late, though her rep decisively told press, ?It?s not true.?
Still, tabloids insist that Garner is desperate to get knocked up in order to save her marriage to Ben Affleck. Per a supposed insider, ?They have been going through a very rough patch and Jen will do anything to make Ben happy. Having another baby may be their last ditch effort to mend the marriage.?

Jennifer Garner hosted the Thirst Project’s annual Thirst Gala at the Beverly Hilton last night. The Thirst Project is a charity organized by college students to bring clean water to needy communities and more awareness to the cause. Organizers travel to high schools and colleges to help inspire young people to start their own charity projects. Founder Seth Maxwell writes that they’ve raised over $8 million in just five years.
Getting back to the superficial, Garner looked comfy and chic in a a black jumpsuit paired with black heels. I don’t have a designer ID on this outfit, and believe me I looked, but it’s possibly Max Mara, as Garner represents the brand. Plus she wore a similar black Max Mara pantsuit to the Draft Day premiere a couple of months ago. (The closest jumpsuits I could find were by Halston Heritage and BCBG Maxazaria. I want the BCBG jumpsuit, it’s so cute.)
Jennifer accessorized with a diamond tennis bracelet and some stunning drop earrings. I wonder if Ben bought her that jewelry, although it was possibly loaned to her. After we heard that Ben has been gambling heavily in Detroit, where he’s filming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, People Magazine ran a puff piece about how Jennifer wasn’t bothered by her husband’s gambling. A source told them “She never understood his gambling obsession and she doesn’t want him to be in the news [for it]. [But] she’s the most patient wife ever and is still very much in love with Ben.”
People also had details of a jewelry shopping trip that Ben took to Barneys with his youngest daughter, Seraphina (there just happen to be photos) to pick out diamonds for Jennifer for their ninth anniversary. The couples’ ninth anniversary is coming up on June 29th. Ben lucked out with such an understanding wife, and he’ll tell you as much.
Here’s a nice look at Jennifer’s long ponytail. Those are extensions, right? Oh and Garner did an interview with Elle a couple of weeks ago promoting her work with Neutrogena. She dished on her skincare routine and her workout sessions, which involve working with a trainer at her home at 5:30 every morning.

Jennifer Garner is doing interviews to promote her role as Neutrogena spokesperson, which she’s had for years now. The last time we covered her doing promotion for the brand was in March, 2013. So she’s skilled at meting out the publicity and isn’t bombarding us with interviews plugging the line. Garner is talking about sunscreen and skin health, which she did a year ago too. Garner’s gig with Neutrogena dovetails nicely with her public image as approachable hands-on mom. Here’s what she said, and the video is above:
Nobody my age wore sunscreen as a little kid. We all just were tossed into the sun like wolves and grew up way too brown. We used to just burn, burn, burn until we were brown enough to not burn anymore the whole summer. Now it just kills me to think what we did to all that beautiful little baby skin. My dad’s a sailor and we spent a lot of time in the summer in the boat, on our family’s little 23 foot boat on the Chesapeake Bay and we would go onto it for three weeks at a time. And I remember… baking on the side of the boat and being as dark brown. Now I realized how fair I am. I had no right to be that brown.
It takes a very steady hand to put sunscreen on three kids. I don’t know any kids who like to have sunscreen put on them. It has to kind of be a non-negotiable. I had one kid get a sunburn on the back of her neck. We were at the beach where my husband was filming something. Her skin started to peel and believe it or not, even though I grew up peeling, I panicked. I thought she had a fungus or something. I took her to the doctor and the doctor was like ‘it’s a sunburn,’ and I thought ‘well, ok, if this is the first time that this has happened…’ I felt like an idiot, because even one sunburn increases your kid’s risk of getting skin cancer later in life. You kind of have to just be so, so diligent.
I disagree with Garner. I’m right around her age (she’s slightly older than I am) and my mom put sunscreen on me all the time when I was a kid. I had a couple of horrible burns when we went on outings unprepared, but that only happened twice. Other than that my mom slathered me with sunscreen, as I do with my kid now. We’re all fair skinned and we can be easily burned. My mom grew up near the beach, though, and she learned from her childhood (when truly there was no sunscreen) that it’s painful and bad for you to burn.
As for Garner’s story, I like that she’s talking about the importance of sunscreen instead of espousing on how great her skin is now that she uses Neutrogena. Plus, they make good products. I use their dry touch sunscreen because it was on sale at my local drugstore. I am just as likely to buy a store brand knockoff though.

Making the rounds to promote her new movie, Jennifer Garner arrived at "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" in New York City on Thursday (April 10).
The "Draft Day" star looked chic in a black and white sleeveless top, knee-length black skirt, and black heels as she posed for a few pics outside.
In the sports drama, Cleveland Browns manager Sonny Weaver has the opportunity to rebuild his team when he trades for the number one pick. He must decide what he's willing to sacrifice on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with NFL dreams.
Also starring Kevin Costner, Chi McBride, and plenty of athletes, "Draft Day" hits theaters on April 11th.
