Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling have a podcast called 9021OMG. Jennie and Tori, of course, met on Beverly Hills 90210 back in the 90s when they were cast as Kelly Taylor and Donna Martin. The two ladies have remained friends, even attempting a few non-90210 projects together. But according to Jennie?s comments on the podcast, the fact that she and Tori formed and kept a friendship is quite a feat because the show bred competition among the women. Jennie said that competitiveness with other women was something with which she struggled for a long time after the show.
Jennie Garth has admitted she struggled with her competitive attitude towards other women for many years due to her time on Beverly Hills, 90210.
A lot of what happened on that set shaped us in all directions, Garth, 49, said on Mondays episode of her and costar Tori Spellings 9021OMG podcast.
But I think as a young girl? [the show] brought out a super competitive part of me being in that environment of being judged because of my looks or how I looked in an outfit, added Garth, who played Kelly Taylor on the hit 90s teen drama.
She continued, It was just a different day and age and it gave us young girls a lot of mixed messages. I, for many years, struggled with [it].
If Im honest, I think [the show] kind of taught me to be threatened by other girls be threatened by other women [and] be more competitive because I wanted our costars approval or attention, she said.
The effects stayed with Garth, who went on to reprise her character on the spinoff 90210 and the reboot BH 90210.
It messed with me on a deeper level and not until later in life that I kind of think it wasnt ever about the other girls, Garth reflected. And why did I ever make the other girls an enemy in my mind?
[From People]
I did not watch a lot of Beverly Hills 90210 when it was on. That?s only because I was bartending to pay for college, so my schedule didn?t allow for much evening TV. I caught a few of the early episodes, the ones in which the Minnesota Walsh family were the comparisons against the Southern Californian families of privilege. Going purely off memory, I felt like they addressed female competitiveness on the show, so it?s disheartening to hear they actively encouraged it when the cameras stopped rolling. I remember the discussions in the media surrounding the cast ? who?s the hottest, the actresses weight, etc. And each actress in the cast was assigned a role by the media as well: Tori was the nepotism hire that would never live up to the job. Shannen Doherty was the Difficult One. Gabrielle Carteris was The Lucky One, because she was hired to be smart, not pretty. And poor Jennie was the Hot One. I say poor Jennie because every successive attractive actress hired was compared to her so of course she would see her co-stars as threats and not allies. I can?t imagine having her husband turn out to be a serial cheater did anything to help heal her need to compete.
But it sounds like she did heal and good for her. I think Jennie is on to something when she said, ?It was just a different day and age and it gave us young girls a lot of mixed messages.? Jennie is just a couple years younger than me. I, too, distrusted women for most of my life. I definitely competed with them whether they knew it or not. And I have no idea where that came from. I blamed certain people for years, but I think they were just existing with the same mixed messages that Jennie and the rest of us were. I hate to admit it, but it took having a daughter for me to see my dysfunction with women. But I am so grateful I finally did because having women in my life now is absolutely amazing.

Wedding bells were ringing on Saturday (July 11) as Jennie Garth tied the knot with David Abrams at an afternoon wedding at Garth?s home in Santa Ynez, California.
Following their April engagement, the ?Beverly Hills: 90210? star and her handsome beau made vows in front of family and friends including Jennie?s three daughters Luca, Lola and Fiona.
Ms. Garth was previously married to Daniel Clark back in the 1990s, followed by an 18-year relationship (12 of which they were married) to ?Twilight Saga: New Moon? hunk Peter Facinelli. Interestingly enough, Facinelli is also getting married after proposing to Jaimie Alexander at the top of the Empire State Building back in March.

It was shocking back in 2012, when Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli divorced after 11 years of marriage. In the months that followed, we found out a lot of dirt though. It seemed like Peter had been cheating with side-pieces for a while and Jennie finally had enough. Jennie tried to relaunch herself as a fearless single mother/reality star/actress, all while Peter moved on pretty smoothly with Jaimie Alexander. Peter and Jaimie just announced their engagement a few weeks ago. And it feels like Jennie has been trying to ?compete? with him, with a string of photo-ops with her boyfriends-of-the-moment. Well, she finally got one of them to propose.
When actor Dave Abrams Tweeted a happy birthday message to Jennie Garth on April 3, the writing ? or hashtag ? was clearly on the wall: #loveumoreandmoreeachday. Indeed, the Mystery Girls star, 43, and Abrams are engaged, the actors’ reps confirm to PEOPLE exclusively.
“Dave had been working on this for months, and really wanted to plan something special for her around her birthday and make it perfect,” a source close to the couple says.
The smitten stars have been inseparable since last fall. In early March, they spent a romantic weekend in Santa Barbara, California, and recently enjoyed a sun-drenched vacation in Tulum, Mexico, with Garth’s three daughters. Abrams Tweeted a photo from a hike in Santa Barbara, captioning it, “Our selfie game is strong.”
This will be Garth’s second marriage: She has daughters Luca, 17, Lola, 12, and Fiona, 8, with her ex-husband, Twilight actor Peter Facinelli.

Well, congrats to her. I hope she?s regained some sense of stability, because for a while there, it seemed like she was wallowing in some kind of post-divorce mid-life crisis, complete with drunk tears at the club. While People says Jennie and Dave have been together since last fall, The Daily Mail says it’s been just four months. Hm.
CB followed Jennie?s post-divorce dating history closer than I ever did ? CB pointed out that Jennie moved through dudes pretty quickly, going from photo-op with random dude-face to photo-op with random rocker to photo-op with random businessman over the course of a year, pretty much. I?m not judging her for dating around and enjoying herself. I am judging her for the photo-ops and for basically getting engaged to the first random dude that asked.

Making a colorful appearance in Ridgewood, NJ, Jennie Garth promoted her new book at Bookends today (March 5).
Gorgeous with her blond locks down about her shoulders, the 41-year-old beauty wore an orange half jacket over a maroon button-down complete with hip-hugging skinny jeans.
Jennie's new book, "Deep Thoughts From A Hollywood Blonde," just released on Tuesday, and her forward reads, "No one warned me that deciding to write a book about my life would unleash all of the insecurities, fears, and self-doubts I'd been trying to outwit and outrun my whole life, but that's exactly what happened. I wanted to tell my truth with as much courage as I could muster and to be as fearless as possible as I delved into the darker corners of my mind. The result surprised me: I got to know myself in new ways.
"Revealing myself in these pages has been at times terrifying, but also one of the most liberating experiences of my life. That's because once you start writing, all of these embarrassing, wonderful, hilarious, painful, and surreal things that make you who you are get flushed up to the surface. And so word by word, I began to put the story of me together. Now all of these personal recollections, memories and anecdotes have been printed and bound into this book, which means that now you get to know me, too."

Taking control of people's perceptions of herself by writing her own memoirs, Jennie Garth is set to release "Deep Thoughts from a Hollywood Blonde" this spring.
The book is described as a humorous and revealing tell-all about filming "Beverly Hills, 90210," her relationships amongst castmates, and her new identity as a single mom after divorcing Peter Facinelli.
In a statement, the 41-year-old actress shared, "The past few years have been full of changes. Now I?m on my own with my three kids, and I just crossed that tricky invisible line into my forties. Maybe because of all these things or maybe despite them, I feel like another chapter in my life is just beginning. This book is my story about where I?ve been and where I?m headed ? and what I?ve learned along the way."
Coincidentally, the book is slated for release on April 1, 2014, just two weeks before her "90210" costar Jason Priestley releases his own memoir.

If you had a crush on the feisty "Beverly Hills, 90210" star in the past, you're in luck as Jennie Garth broke up with her boyfriend, Michael Shimbo.
The 41-year-old actress dated the media exec for about three months and reportedly split over the weekend while in Austin, Texas for the Formula One U.S. Grand Prix.
For about twelve years, the blonde beauty was married to "Twilight" star Peter Facinelli, with whom she shares three daughters.
However, it seems it wasn't a particularly nasty breakup as Jennie tweeted on Sunday, " ate from an Austin food truck tonight... still feeling good! #austin #thankspink #paradigm

| Tori Spelling & Jennie Garth have a new crime comedy show: will you watch? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I’ll freely admit how Tori Spelling used to annoy me during the original “90210,” but it was really her awful Donna Martin character that I didn’t like. As the years have passed, I’ve warmed to Tori. She’s made her own way without the help of her family fortune. She also has to deal with the tabloids making sh-t up about her all the time. Mostly I see a woman who is trying to make a living for her family and otherwise keep to herself. As for Jennie, I think she got a raw deal from Peter Facinelli, who was probably cheating on her for years.
As a result of these two ladies’ recent media adventures, I feel more than ready to embrace them on television again — together. That’s what will happen thanks to a newly closed deal for Tori and Jennie on a new crime comedy, Mystery Girls. Deadline has the details:
ABC Family has closed a deal with Jennie Garth to join former Beverly Hills 90210 co-star Tori Spelling in the network’s comedy pilot, Mystery Girls. Both Spelling and Garth will also serve as executive producers. The project follows a former starlet (Spelling) who is roped into solving crimes with her former mystery TV show costar (Garth) when a witness to a crime will only speak to the infamous ‘Mystery Girls,’ which was the highest rated program of the 90?s. The pilot was written by Shepard Boucher from a story by him and Spelling.
[From Deadline]
Does anyone else think this show sounds like a surprisingly good idea? The show has already been picked up by ABC Family, so it will ideally be something that parents will watch with or around their kids. There’s plenty of nostalgia for the stars of the old “90210,” so I think this will go over well. Will you watch it?

Taking a break from mom duties, Jennie Garth put in a surprise appearance at the Interpid by AOC runway show on Wednesday (September 11) as part of New York Fashion Week.
Not only did the "90210" alum show up, she strutted her stuff on the runway in a gorgeous grey and white mini dress to wrap up the show.
GossipCenter caught up with Ms. Garth before she made it out to the catwalk. See what Jennie had to say below!
On what it is like to be on the runway:
"This is my second runway. I walked in one a few years ago. It's always fun to get up there and be made up by professionals."
On hair and makeup:
"The makeup and hair for the fashion world is so different than what I am used to."
On her favorite part of the AOC line:
"I am really fond of the dress I am wearing because it is super short. The flip side of that is that its dangerously short. I'm afraid my butt cheeks are going to be exposed."
On her personal fashion vs. the dress she modeled:
"I would definitely wear this (the dress) for events where I have to look good. In my personal life, I don't dress this high fashion."
