Kim Kardashian and Kanye West?s oldest child is North West. She?s seven years old, and she?ll be eight this June. While I haven?t paid much attention to the Kardashian-West kids in a while, I do think North is probably a lot like her dad in creativity and attitude. She seems like a good blend of both of her parents, actually, and it?s my hope that all of the kids got the best from both Kim and Kanye. It?s easy to forget it now because of Kanye?s perpetual MAGA state, but he was a sort of musical/artistic wunderkind, playing instruments and composing and producing music at a very young age. So now people wonder if North has inherited some artistry from her dad. Kim Kardashian posted this on her Instagram stories allegedly a painting done by North.
When I first saw this, I was like everyone else in that I assumed Kim was lying. But then I was like ?wait, how old is North? Is she at an age where she could paint this?? I thinkmaybe. It?s totally possible that Kim is lying but I have no idea why she would? It?s just too random for Kim to suddenly be like ?here?s this beautiful painting that my seven-and-a-half year old daughter did.?
So, obviously, people had some thoughts and those thoughts involved the dearly departed Bob Ross, who used to do lovely painting tutorials on PBS.

My working theory on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West is that she?s been done with him and their marriage for the better part of a year, probably longer. She?s thought long and hard about the best way to detach herself from him and her solution is playing out in front of us. I have no doubt that Kim and her team leaked the first stories about the separation and impending divorce as a way to force the moment to its crisis. I also have no doubt that Kim wants Kanye to be the one to file for divorce, that she doesn?t want to get hit with the charge of ?abandoning a mentally ill man.? So that?s where we are. Kanye has apparently moved a lot of stuff out of the Calabasas home they bought together, including 500 pairs of sneakers. Kim went on a girls? trip to Turks & Caicos to give Kanye the chance to move his sh-t out, and so that?s what he?s been doing this week while she was out of the country. Kim?s sources also told People Mag that at this point, Kim and Ye have no contact:
Kim Kardashian may legally still be married to Kanye West, but shes already begun living her life on her own. A source tells PEOPLE that the couple, who married in 2014, now have minimal communication as they continue to move toward an official split.
Kim and Kanye continue to live separate lives, says the source. They have no contact.
After stopping marriage counseling with West last month, the source says Kardashian doesnt seem bothered by the idea of raising their four children ? daughters North, 7, and Chicago, 3, and sons Saint, 5, and Psalm, who turns 2 in May ? on her own.
Kim stays focused on the kids and work. She is very busy and seems happy, says the source. When it comes to officially ending her marriage, the source says she has a divorce plan in place and will file when she is ready.
The source further adds that her issues with Kanye are a big part of the final season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which premieres March 18, and that she will likely file for divorce when the season has aired.

Though many people are aware of Kim and Kanyes rocky relationship status, the insider explains that Kim has yet to initiate formal proceedings because she is still working out the logistics of announcing the divorce. Nonetheless, the insider says their separation is completely official in her mind.
Likewise, a second source shares, Kanye is also completely done with the marriage and is moving on. He doesnt care what Kims priorities are with holding off on a divorce announcement, the second source explains. He will file before shes ready if he has to. He wants the divorce just as much as Kim does.

If Kanye ends up filing for divorce in the next month or so, I think Kim will have played this perfectly. I know y?all won?t give her credit for anything, but she?s been really smart about this very narrow issue of how to leave him and how to minimize the public criticism of her actions. In my mind, she?s done the best she could to help Kanye and take care of him when he is manic, and she?s really tired of the fact that he doesn?t *want* to be a full partner in their marriage, or a full partner in raising their children. It is what it is.

Kim Kardashian lives her life out in the open with Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The show has been running for 20 seasons and 14 years. But? over time, I think I can safely say that the sisters have actually pulled away from the ?warts and all? coverage on KUWTK. I?m not a stan, nor am I a defender, but for years now, KUWTK is more like a ?curated? reality show, with its own parallel storylines and selective editing for real-life dramas. People swore up and down that Kim, like, organized her own traumatic robbery in Paris ?for the show.? She did not. The only thing about the robbery shown on KUWTK was the aftermath, with a traumatized Kim barely able to do anything but sit with her kids and try to process what happened.
Over the years, KUWTK has only shown highly selective parts of Kim?s marriage to Kanye West as well as the marriage disintegrated, Kim just gave herself other storylines, like fights with her sisters. So? I don?t really believe the new claims that Kim is ?saving her divorce drama? for the show. But that?s what a lot of people claim:

So, again, KUWTK is not going to show ?fights? between Kanye or Kim, just like they never really showed the extent of Kanye?s mental illness, nor did they exploit Kanye by putting him on camera when he was manic. What it sounds like the big reveal, per sources is that Kim will be speaking on camera about how her marriage is over. Maybe they?ll even do a set-up where Kim is talking to her mom or Khloe about it. It?s not even clear to me that Kanye will be on-camera at all, especially since he?s been living in Wyoming for the past year?
Sources also say that Kanye is ?less than thrilled? about KUWTK covering the divorce. Again, I have to wonder if A) he really cares and B) he?s even on camera at all? I?ll criticize Kim freely about lots of things, but here?s my super bold take: she has every right to talk about HOW SHE FEELS about getting a divorce, and she has every right to do that for her reality show. I?m not really seeing why any of this is evil or anything. Manipulative? Sure, maybe. But what did people expect?

What?s even funnier is that I actually think Kim is really mad that so many other stories are pulling focus away from her marriage drama. It?s strange to see Kim performing this indecisive Hamlet act every week in People Magazine, but I have a new theory about why she?s doing it: I?m starting to wonder if Kim wants Kanye to be the one to file for divorce. An official split between Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West may be fast-approaching, a source tells PEOPLE. According to the source, the stars, who tied the knot in May 2014, have completely stopped going to marriage counseling. A separate insider told PEOPLE earlier this month that the couple was in marital therapy in an effort to salvage their fractured relationship.
He is talking to divorce lawyers this week, the source adds of the 43-year-old Grammy winner.

It would make some kind of sense, especially because I believe Kim has avoided filing for divorce because she was worried she might trigger another manic episode for Kanye. It was sort of odd that the story got so pushed aside, just because in my experience, many gossip stories begin to pick up concurrently with major national or international events, almost like people need a silly gossip chaser for all of the horrific fascism. I think that?s why the Olivia Wilde-Jason Sudeikis split has picked up steam, btw. But people just forgot that Kim Kardashian is doing her Hamlet act over whether to file for divorce from Kanye. Thankfully, Kim ran to People Magazine to remind everyone!
Its a new year, but Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are still navigating a significant rough patch in their marriage. Multiple sources confirm that Kardashian, 40, has been struggling in her decision of whether or not to end her nearly seven-year union to West, on the heels of an exceedingly difficult year.
Kim and Kanyes marriage is beyond repair, says a family source. Kim is over Kanyes chaos, and at this point she just wants to focus on the kids and her own life.
The high-profile couple shares four children: daughters North, 7, and Chicago, who turns 3 on Friday, and sons Saint, 5, and Psalm, who turns 2 in May. Despite social media posts showing seemingly happy family vacations to Wyoming and Colorado last year, sources say behind the scenes, Kardashian grew increasingly concerned about Wests behavior ? including his unlikely Presidential run and controversial and public statements about abortion, Kris Jenner and his marriage to Kardashian.
If I had to say the final straw, I believe it was a combination of the Presidential run and his Twitter rants, says an insider. It created havoc at home. And though Kim is well aware of his issues [West opened up about his bipolar disorder in 2018], and tried to help him, she realized it was futile.
Ultimately, they are not on the same page, says the source of Kardashian and West, 43. Kim knows what she wants to do with her life and Kanye is constantly all over the place. Continues the source: She isnt in a rush to file for divorce. But it is on her mind.

I wondered how long it would take for Kim Kardashian to go back to treating People Magazine like her personal diary, and it turns out? it took less than a day. People Magazine ran several exclusives following the NY Post?s bombshell news that Kim has rehired Laura Wasser and is already working out the specifics of a divorce settlement. People?s version of events was much softer, of course according to their sources, Kim is still somewhat undecided about filing, and she and Kanye have been in couples therapy, which I?m sure is massively stressful on its own (imagine trying to sit in a therapy session with Kanye and his manic rants about slavery). Here?s more from yet another People exclusive:
Kim Kardashian is doing her best to remain positive amid her potential split from husband Kanye West, a source tells PEOPLE.
December was a rough month for Kim. She has been living separately from Kanye. Over the holidays, it was hard for her to stay positive, the source says. She has been trying her best, though, for the kids. She stayed in Los Angeles for New Years [Eve]. Kourtney and Khlo [Kardashian] were around to support her. She is very grateful to have her sisters to lean on.
Kardashian, 40, and West, 43, wed in 2014 and share daughters North, 7, and Chicago, 2, and sons Saint, 5, and Psalm, who turns 2 in May. According to the source, the couples split is inevitable after a tumultuous year, which saw their relationship drama unfold in the public eye.
She is sad about it, of course, the source says. She just feels she has done everything in her power to make her marriage work. Even though she has been thinking about divorce for months, she hasnt filed because she feels terrible for the kids.

For the love of God, Hamlet Kardashian. I get it, she wants to do this carefully and she?s probably hyper-aware of the very real possibility that her actions could trigger another manic episode or possibly even a psychotic break. But she?s also performatively dithering and drawing this out for attention. This isn?t for the kids! Trust me, North is old enough to know that A) mom and dad barely spend any time together and B) mom doesn?t trust dad around the kids and C) that mom and dad are going to split up. Kids notice a lot more than the adults realize. I?m not saying ?rip off the band-aid and what will be will be,? but Kim needs to entertain the possibility that this Hamlet routine will do as much damage to Kanye and the kids as, you know, just making a clean and concise break.

For the past nine months or so, we?ve been seeing a ton of exclusives from People Magazine, Page Six and various British outlets about the state of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West?s marriage. They had problems before 2020, and Kim even consulted divorce lawyers at one point (early 2017), but she stuck with Kanye? until she didn?t. Kim has been over him for a while. They largely lived separate lives in 2020, and Kim kept leaking sh-t to People about how she was seriously considering divorce. And now here it is Page Six broke the story last night (which I covered earlier), and other outlets followed suit. There?s not much new info:
Kim Kardashian West and Kayne West had a tumultuous 2020 ? including the rapper?s unsuccessful presidential bid and numerous Twitter rants ? and it looks like the pairs 2021 might be even more tumultuous with the possible demise of their marriage. After six years of marriage and eight years together, Kardashian West is working with top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, though she has yet to file for divorce.
A source tells PEOPLE that West is bracing himself for the reality star to file. However, there still may be a chance the couple weather this storm as another source tells PEOPLE they are in therapy in an effort to salvage their relationship.
Kim and Kanye are in counseling and exploring their options, says the source. They have been working on their marriage for a long time, but no decision has been made.

I don?t think they?ll reconcile. I honestly believe that Kim gave Kanye multiple opportunities to change and really be a full partner in their marriage, and he wouldn?t or couldn?t. I?m also not surprised that Kim hasn?t actually filed for divorce yet she?s working with Laura Wasser, and I bet there?s a lot of sh-t happening behind-the-scenes. Kim probably wants to have some stuff locked down before she files. Sources also told Us Weekly that Kim?s friends are surprised that she hasn?t filed yet, for whatever that?s worth. As for the other Kardashian-preferred outlet, TMZ, they had a more nuanced exclusive on the imminent divorce:

Kim has gone back and forth, were told at times thinking divorce was the only option but other times believing there was a chance to save the marriage. Thats why they took a family vacation late last year to see if they could repair things. Everything got put on hold for the Christmas holidays, but now the issue is front and center. Kims had disso queen Laura Wasser on retainer for years for various reasons, and the subject of divorce was discussed months ago, but Kim never gave the green light to file. Her ambivalence is understandable, what with 4 small kids. They married in May, 2014.
Were told no final decision has been made, and its telling theyve been in counseling for a while. Were told their issues have been neither contentious nor ugly, but they do have lots of differences from lifestyle to politics. They are, however, fully aligned on parenting. One thing our sources wanted to make clear there is no third party.

Now, does that mean that she hasn?t been weighing her own romantic future? Of course she has. The truth is, Kim outgrew Kanye. Maybe they outgrew each other, but Kim absolutely has such a different energy and such different interests now, and I am definitely curious to see the energy Husband #4 brings to the table. Anyway? And KKW Beauty isn?t even Kim?s best product her best product is SKIMS, her shapewear line. KKW Beauty is just Kim trying to copy Kylie Jenner?s cosmetics business. Anyway, this week the Coty deal was finalized and Kim now has $200 million in the bank to grow her businesses and to continue living a separate life from her husband, the ?W? in KKW. The Daily Mirror reported this week that Kim and Kanye have barely seen each other in the past three months and their separate lives are quite starkly different Kanye barely sees the kids, he spends all of his time with his team in Wyoming, and Kim raises the kids in LA. Then this story hit:

?They are keeping it low-key but they are done,? says a source. ?Kim has hired Laura Wasser and they are in settlement talks.?
Kim, 40, hasn?t been seen wearing her wedding ring, and Kanye, 43, remained at his $14 million Wyoming ranch over the holidays instead of spending it with the Kardashian klan, who drew criticism for their extravagant celebrations.
?Kim got Kanye to go up there [Wyoming] so they could live separate lives and quietly get things sorted out to separate and divorce. She?s done,? the source continued. The source added that while Kim has done much in the past to protect and help Kanye deal with his mental health struggles, ?Now this divorce is happening because Kim has grown up a lot. She is serious about taking the bar exam and becoming a lawyer, she is serious about her prison reform campaign. Meanwhile Kanye is talking about running for president and saying other crazy s?t, and she?s just had enough of it.?
Meanwhile, a separate source says Kanye, who became increasingly uncomfortable and irritated by the Kardashians? over-the-top reality star lives, ?Is completely over the entire family ? He wants nothing to do with them,? adding he eventually found their reality show ?unbearable.?
Kanye reluctantly showed up for Kim?s ridiculously extravagant $1 million-plus 40th birthday in Tahiti last October for just one day. ?He showed up late and left early, he wouldn?t appear in any of their Instagram shots. All he did was bring over the hologram of her father Robert Kardashian, then got out of there as fast as he could,? the source added.
The source said the biggest sticking point in the Kimye divorce settlement talks could be over their Calabasas, California, family home, which underwent a total redesign masterminded by Kanye and was heralded by Architectural Digest as ?an oasis of purity and light.? The source said, ?Kim is trying to get Kanye to turn over the Calabasas house to her, because that?s where the kids are based and growing up. That is their home. She owns all the land and adjoining lots around the house but Kanye owns the actual house. They?ve both put a lot of money into renovating it.?
The source added of the advanced settlement talks, ?This isn?t the first time they?ve been talking about a split, but this time it is way, way more serious.? Another source confirmed to us that divorce settlement talks were underway, but they were not yet at the point of deciding how their properties would be divided.

Ive been saying that a divorce would happen for the better part of the past year. They were living separate lives back in March/April of 2020, and then Kanye had that profoundly bad manic episode which went on and on for months, and Kim just tapped out of the marriage. To be fair, it sounded like Kanye was totally over it too. So, yes, I totally believe that their lawyers are already putting something together. And obviously, Kim should just buy the Calabasas home from Kanye.

I get that most people really dislike Kim Kardashian. I dislike her a lot of the time too. But in a narrow circumstance, she has my sympathy. That circumstance is her marriage to Kanye West and how she?s trying to deal with a husband who is a celebrity, whose every word or tweet makes news, and who also struggles with profound mental health issues. Six, seven months ago I believed that by the end of this godforsaken year, Kim would file for divorce from Kanye. So far she has not. But don?t mistake that for Kimye having a good, healthy marriage. They do not.
Theres still trouble in paradise. Despite reconciling after a reported rough patch earlier this year, it appears Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West still have issues they are trying to work through. A source tells ET that Kardashian and West are still having their difficulties, like any couple, but they are both doing their best.
Kim is exhausted from continually trying but keeps their vows in mind when making any pertinent decisions. And Kanye is working on his psychological health and mental state, the source says. The family and Kanye are still in contact and everyone wants the best for Kanye, Kim, their kids and the rest of the family.
The source says that Kardashian feels West needs to work on himself before he can work on the well-being of anyone else.
Kim?s family will support her in any decision she makes, but she feels that the most important thing to recognize before making any choice is realizing what?s best for the kids, herself, Kanye and the rest of the family, essentially in that order, the source shares.
It has been a tumultuous year for the couple. Before Wests controversial and unsuccessful run for president came to an end in November, the pair were already working on building up their relationship after having a very public fallout back in July.

Kanye ?needs to work on himself before he can work on the well-being of anyone else. That?s it, at a fundamental level. Kanye can barely take care of himself and that means he?s not currently capable of being a full partner in their marriage or their family. In the spring, I felt like Kim was already over it and they were very much living separate lives, which was one of the contributing factors to his extreme manic episode. I wonder if, after all of the family time over the summer, Kim and Kanye are back to living separately, and whether that suits Kim just fine. Yeah? I do think she?ll divorce him. But I also think she?s trying to prepare herself for how Kanye will react to it.
Kim has been spending some time in Wyoming though, she?s posted photos from the property Kanye owns (and where he lives permanently now).
