Well, this was completely predictable. After all of the dramatics over the past month between Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry, it seems Halle?s boyfriend of six months, Olivier Martinez, is starting to wonder? ?Hey, this bitch is crazy. Maybe I shouldn?t be with her?? This comes on the heels of the Enquirer?s reporting that Halle wants Olivier to be Nahla?s ?new daddy? - which Gabriel is understandably upset about.
Halle Berry?s love affair with French movie star Olivier Martinez has hit the rocks as Halle?s child custody battle threatens to sink their relationship. Halle and Olivier are having bitter arguments triggered bu Halle?s ugly clashes with Gabriel Aubry.
?They have been fighting constantly,? a source told the Enquirer. ?Halle?s mood swings are to blame. She is stressed about her conflict with Gabriel and has been taking it out on Olivier.?
Olivier cautioned Halle to handle the custody issue behind closed doors, but she proceeded to get in a public mud-slinging match with Gabriel.
?Olivier has seen a side of Halle he doesn?t like - and that has got him thinking she isn?t the one for him.?

This is what I?ve been wondering since the beginning of Halle?s Campaign of Destruction: What the hell does her new boyfriend think? While I don?t think Olivier is the brightest bulb, I think even the most dense of guys would see huge red flags all over this situation and try to exit stage left. I mean? this is how she?s treating her last significant other, the father of her child. How is she going to treat you when it?s all over? I should represent Halle’s side too. Obviously, Olivier is racist. And abusive. There.
One last story - In Touch Weekly has an interview with Halle?s ?estranged half-sister? Renee Berry. Renee tells ITW that she would advise Halle to ?Bitch, be cool? - that is, if they were speaking. Renee says: ?You don?t get your wings by holding grudges? I hate that she?s going through with this custody battle. I?m sure it?s difficult for both her and Gabriel, but they should remember that the child comes first, and they should spare the child from being subjected to any of this.? Renee also says that Gabriel has a right to be a father to Nahla, and that Nahla has a right to have her dad in her life: ?If he wants to be a father, he should be allowed to do so. After all, so many men in this country run away from their responsibilities.? Wow? a reasonable person with the last name ?Berry?. Shocking!

She headed to court today (February 16) to deal with some on-going custody issues, and it sounds like Halle Berry got her way.
Sources at the courthouse told TMZ that the ?Catwoman? actress got the approval from the judge to head to New York City with her daughter, Nahla, to film the upcoming ?New Year?s Eve.?
Berry originally had to pull out of the movie to deal with the custody battle, which landed the role in the hands of Katherine Heigl. But now Halle's heading to the Big Apple to play a different character in the movie.
The Oscar-winning actress' lawyer, Neal Hersh, told press, "We are pleased the judge took the time to deal with this very imminent and important issue. The judge read a great deal of paperwork and gave us time to argue" and added, "Halle is very pleased with the judge's order."
As for Nahla?s father Gabriel Aubry, he has withdrawn his custody petition -- which is public -- but he's continuing his war by filing a paternity action which will not be open to the public.

Partaking in a sexy shoot to go with her cover duties, Halle Berry is featured in the March 2011 issue of Ebony magazine.
The Oscar Winning actress donned an array of barely-there ensembles as she flaunted her good looks for photogs looking for just the right snaps to adorn their mag's pages.
During the Ebony interview, Miss Berry made comments about daughter Nahla, during which she raised a few eyebrows while proclaiming, "I feel like she's black. I'm black and I'm her mother, and I believe in the one-drop theory."
As for how she identifies herself, Halle told, ?If you?re of multiple races, you have a different challenge, a unique challenge of embracing all of who you are but still finding a way to identify yourself, and I think that?s often hard for us to do. I identify as a black woman, but I?ve always had to embrace my mother and the white side of who I am, too. By choosing, I?ve often [wondered], ?Well, would that make her feel like I?m invalidating her by choosing to identify more with the black side of myself???
Of the rigors of juggling her acting career with motherhood, the 44-year-old dished, ?Being a mother is probably the most important thing in my life right now. Career is important, but nothing really supersedes my role as a mother. That?s the most important thing I?m going to do in this life at this point.?

How do I even summarize the current Halle Berry-Gabriel Aubry situation? How about this: CRAZY. If you?d like to read more, here?s your starter post. Anyway, as I mentioned yesterday, this custody drama is moving beyond TMZ and Radar, and several of this week?s tabloids have major stories about Halle and Gabe. Because of when tabloids go to print, I don?t think many of the stories are going to be about Halle?s comments on race and the ?one drop? theory, although I doubt even that is enough to get Halle the cover of In Touch or Us Weekly next week. For some reason the big stories, like this drama and the Mel Gibson stuff, don?t make many cover stories. Theories as to why that is?
So this is the Enquirer?s take on the situation - according to their sources, it comes down to money (and Halle not wanting to pay Gabe anything) and Olivier Martinez (who Halle wants as Nahla?s new daddy):
The vicious custody battle between Halle Berry and her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry comes down to two issues, say her pals. Gabriel wants Halle?s money, and Halle wants her new guy, Olivier Martinez, to play daddy to Nahla.
?Halle is out to protect her pocketbook, while Gabriel is trying to protect his turf as Nahla?s father,? an insider told The Enquirer.
Another source says, ?This is going to be the custody battle of the century! Halle?s side is saying Gabriel called her the N-word while his friends are saying Halle was jealous of Gabe?s female pals. And the nastiness is just getting started!?
After Gabriel and Halle broke up, everything was cordial until Halle began dating her costar, Olivier Martinez. Gabriel flipped out, said the source: ?He said he didn?t want Olivier around their daughter. Halle shot back that Gabriel didn?t have the right to say anything about who she sees when she?s footing all the bills for their daughter. She told Gabriel she was making a life with Olivier and she hoped Nahla saw him as a father.?
Just before Christmas, they got into a nasty argument about Martinez at Halle?s house.
?Nahla started crying and didn?t want to go with Gabriel,? said a friend. That?s when Gabriel went to court seeking joint custody.
?Halle believes that not only is Gabriel jealous she?s found a new man, he?s worried about the gravy train leaving the station,? maintained the source. ?Halle says she?ll be damned if she?s supporting Gabriel. But Gabriel is determined not to lose his daughter.?

I think in Halle?s mind, Gabriel probably is a gold-digger and this is all about him trying to ?get? something from her. I don?t know if Gabe is really that kind of guy though - in my opinion (and this is just my opinion), he could be a solid working model with a steady income, but he?s chosen to put his career on the backburner so that he can be a father to Nahla, and spend time with his daughter while Halle works wherever.
As for the Olivier Martinez? does anyone else wonder what?s going on in his head these days? He thought he was hooking up with some sexy, American A-lister and now he?s in the middle of all of this raging drama. Even if Halle wants Olivier to be Nahla?s ?daddy? that might not be what Olivier wants, you know?

These are new photos of Halle Berry out in LA yesterday. I hate that I?m in love with that sweater and that purse. God, those are beautiful. Anyway, Halle had lunch with a friend, and she got absolutely swarmed by paparazzi as she was leaving the restaurant. It was just 24 hours ago that her Ebony interview hit the media in a big way - including Halle?s revelation that she believes in the ?one drop? theory, which basically means that we?re all black, I think. She was probably also swarmed because although her ?team? has been leaking damaging information about Gabriel Aubry, Halle has yet to sit down and issue some kind of direct statement to the media about the custody battle. She just gets her rep to do the dirty work, or does it herself as an unnamed source. Even in that Ebony article, Halle didn?t talk directly about the custody battle, although I think she was alluding to it specifically when she talked about race.
I was glancing through this week?s tabloid covers, and I was shocked to see that Halle doesn?t take the full cover on any of them! It’s like the Mel Gibson-Oksana drama all over again - when the tabloids have a truly compelling and controversial drama in real time, they don’t know how to handle it. That being said, Halle takes the sidebar on many tabloids. Us Weekly has ?Halle?s Twisted Secrets? while In Touch Weekly goes with ?Halle?s Dark Secrets? (racist!). Star goes for the more direct ?Halle?s SMEAR CAMPAIGN against Gabriel & Kim?. Nobody has released anything yet, but I?m sure there will be lots of drama in the days to come.

Halle Berry is the March cover lady for Ebony Magazine, in what I?m assuming was a photo shoot and interview done before the current custody battle exploded. That being said, Halle does make reference to a few things that have come up in the back-and-forth in the media, notably that Halle considers her mixed race daughter black. She tells the magazine:
?I feel like she?s black. I?m black and I?m her mother and I believe in the one-drop theory. I?m not going to put a label on it. I had to decide for myself and that?s what she?s going to have to decide ? how she identifies herself in the world. And I think, largely, that will be based on how the world identifies her. That?s how I identified myself. But I feel like she?s black.?

Eh. I know a lot of you are going to fight about it, and that?s okay, I guess. I?m mixed race - I?m half-white, half-Indian - and I?ve always felt that mixed-race people can self-identify however they want. I identify myself as mixed race, at times feeling more Indian or Asian, and at times feeling more like a Southern white girl. It depends, but no matter what Halle says, Nahla will make the decision for herself as to how she identifies when she gets older. TMZ has another story claiming that Gabriel Aubry would ?go nuts? if someone suggested that Nahla was black - according to sources, Gabriel ?insists? that Nahla is white. I have to say, I think in this particular insistence, it?s less about race and more about Halle attempting to negate Gabriel?s biological contributions, you know? Gabe is white - when Halle insists that Nahla is black, it?s like Halle is cutting Gabe out.

Halle Berry put aside her bitter custody battle with baby daddy, Gabriel Aubry, as she gushed about the wonders of motherhood in the March issue of EBONY Magazine, RadarOnline.com has learned.
“Being a mother is probably the most important thing in my life right now,” Halle, 44, revealed in an interview with EBONY Editor-in-Chief Amy DuBois Barnett, when asked what motivates her to continually challenge herself in every aspect of her life.
“Career is important, but nothing really supersedes my roles as a mother. That’s the most important thing I’m going to do in this life at this point,” said the Monster’s Ball actress.
Halle and Gabriel are currently embroiled in a heated custody battle over their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Nahla. As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported the relationship between the ex-couple has deteriorated so much over the past week that they are no longer even on speaking terms.
“If Gabriel needs to find out anything about Nahla he goes through the nanny now,” a source told RadarOnline.com. “He and Halle are no longer speaking directly to each other.
“There were still talking, albeit limitedly, up until a week or so ago, but now - nothing.”
The source added Gabriel is concerned that Halle will request that all his visits with their daughter be supervised after various reports have claimed that Aubrey used the ‘N’ word in describing Halle. One source close to Aubrey strongly denies that.
The March issue of EBONY Magazine will be released nationwide February 8.

In the Ebony piece (which I?m now convinced will be one of Ebony?s best-selling issues), Halle also talks about dating - specifically, dating white men: ?Well, first thing I want to say is that I?m very connected to my community and I want black people to know that I haven?t abandoned them because I?ve had a child with a man outside of my race and I?m dating someone now outside of my race who is Spanish and French?I have never been more clear about who I am as a black woman. The people I have dated sort of hold up a mirror to me and help me realize more of who I really am.? Wait? what? So dating white dudes has made her even more ?clear? about being black? Sure.

I was all prepared to begin writing about Gabriel Aubry?s new public statement (via his rep) when I saw that this custodial drama between Halle Berry and Gabriel had taken the cover of this week?s People Magazine (see the cover here). Since it seems these two jags are bound and determined to fight this entire thing in the public sphere, I am only going to continue my non-committal attitude towards taking sides. I know many of you have already picked your side - that?s fine. I think they are both behaving inappropriately, and the accusations that are currently flying around are immature and nasty. Okay, first up: Gabe?s latest defense, via his rep to Us Weekly:

There were clues that something was amiss when Halle Berry’s ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry took legal action to establish custody rights of their two-year old daughter Nahla back in December, but now their facade of amicability has been completely shattered. Radar Online says:
Halle, 44, released a statement claiming that she has “serious concerns for her daughter’s well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her.”
Gabriel, 35, is ready to fight and will seek sole custody of Nahla — [he] has already consulted attorneys in both California and Canada.
“Halle has gone too far this time,” the source [says]. “Attacking Gabriel and accusing him of being an unfit father is totally below the belt and completely without merit. He’s going to give as good as he gets. There’s no way he is going to allow Halle to take his daughter away from him.”
“He has all kind of weapons that he can, and will, use — some really embarrassing emails and voicemails from Halle that [she would not want] made public — things that really will show her true side and how manipulative, controlling, mean and self-obsessed she can be.”
I think Mr. Aubry has grossly overestimated the sway those voicemails and emails will have on her adoring public. No piece of evidence that he has could be more personally damning than “Catwoman” or “Swordfish,” and they still gave her an Oscar after that.

They began amicably, but now Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry are getting nasty in their custody battle over daughter Nahla.
According to Radar, the 35-year-old male model has hired lawyers in both California and Canada in his bid to gain sole custody of the youngster.
And after Ms. Berry?s remarks about ?having serious concerns for her daughter?s well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time,? Gabriel is irate.
