Reconnecting with her French fans, Gwen Stefani showed up in Paris earlier today (September 24) to promote her new No Doubt album.
As usual, the ?Wind It Up? songstress was dressed to impress, keeping things low-key in a black button-up top with black leather trousers and black heels.
And while Gwen and her bandmates have a whole catalog of hits to their credit, their song ?Don?t Speak? stands out as the most difficult on an emotional level as it deals with Gwen and bassist Tony Kanal's split.
Kanal told press, ?We were on tour for Tragic Kingdom for 28 months. We were going through the breakup, and in every interview we were talking about it so we were opening this wound on an hourly basis. It was so brutal but I don't know how we made it through."
However, Gwen credits the breakup with helping her come out of her creative shell. "Before, I was really passive, all I cared about was being in love with my boyfriend. I didn't have any creative power, nothing. I don't know that person any more. But I'd been really bad at school and didn't know what I would do, I just sang in my brother's band. But after the breakup I just started writing all these songs and suddenly I was: 'Oh I think I'm really good at this!'"

After celebrating their 10 year anniversary over the weekend, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale were spotted in Hollywood this morning grabbing some juice (September 19).
The No Doubt frontwoman donned a black top and black and white patterned jacket with black pants and flip flops as she carried two fruity beverages.
The 42-year-old mother to boys Kingston (6) and Zuma (4) recently told Marie Claire that she originally wanted a third little one.
She tells the magazine, "I really, really, really wanted one about two years ago. And it didn't really work out. So. . . I feel good with what we've got. Everything works out how it should. You can't plan anything, right? You can try."

| Gwen Stefani on Gavin: 'My biggest accomplishment is my marriage so far' | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Gwen Stefani covers the October issue of Marie Claire, and these are some pics from the cover shoot. I like that Gwen did a more ?athletically? styled cover, although some of the shots are more traditional gown and dress pics. Can we talk about Gwen?s face for a moment? I think Gwen is being tweaked. I?ve thought that for a little while now. She?s always seemed perpetually youthful to me, but over the past year, I really think her face has changed and gotten kind of frozen and waxy-looking. And I don?t think this shoot is convincing me otherwise, Photoshop or no ?Shop. You can read the full MC piece here, and here are some highlights:
On rearing two high-energy boys just a few years apart in age: ?From the moment they wake up, they start beating on each other. I never knew they would be so physical. They?re just starting to play real well together, but with a lot of fighting. They do look out for each other ? especially the little one, he really loves his older brother.?
On what her 10 year anniversary with Gavin Rossdale represents: ?A miracle?my biggest accomplishment is my marriage so far. Because it?s hard, everyone knows it?s hard.? She continues: ?[Marriage] is something that I always wanted to do successfully. It was a dream of mine. I like the official-ness and the family-ness of it all, having the same name and making decisions together.?
On her relationship with husband Gavin Rossdale: ?[Our relationship] is better than it?s ever been. Like, we?re learning about each other all the time. He?s an amazing dad, he works so hard ? I can hear him writing songs through the wall, and it is at a much quicker pace than me!? Above all, she adds, ?He balances me out. And he ? he never stops liking me, which is awesome! It makes me feel happy, that someone likes me as much as he does.?
On having a third child: ?I really, really, really wanted one about two years ago. And it didn?t really work out. So?I feel good with what we?ve got. Everything works out how it should. You can?t plan anything, right? You can try.?
No Doubt?s new album Push And Shove: “My favorite record. I mean, your favorite record is always the last one you did, but it really is?it’s a really great record.”
Being a mom and a rock star: “I was definitely swimming upstream,” she says, “trying to balance everything that’s been going on with having kids and a family. There’s no way to do all these things.”
Working on the new album: “I would be up all night because my second baby [Zuma, now 4] didn’t sleep, and he had a lot of ear infections. Then I’d wake up in the morning and do my workout, which I always felt I had to do, and then meetings for my three clothing lines, and then hang out with my kids, take them to preschool, da-da-da. And then at 4 o’clock, I’d be like, ‘All right, I’m out of here, I’m going to go to the studio’ and try to write a record. Sit on the couch [with my bandmates] and be like, ‘Let’s do this now because I’m missing time with the kids; I could be having dinner with them and putting them to bed.’ It was really hard.”
Balancing: “Every day I fail at something,” she laments. “Every day someone is suffering because I’m doing all these things.”
Downsizing: “I’ve got myself in a lot of trouble by not saying no.” The solo career? Buh-bye. Her weight? She’s got a new approach: “This last year I kind of stopped working out. I think my body just needed a break. And so I did that, and focused more on feeling good as opposed to beating myself up.” She’s even eased up her efforts on her L.A.M.B. (Love, Angel, Music, Baby) fashion line. “I have learned to delegate. It still looks awesome, but did I pick out the buttons? No, I didn’t. I missed the last two Fashion Weeks because they were when school started; I can’t miss the first week of kindergarten.”
[From Marie Claire]
I think she does back and forth from being admirably honest to being a bag of neurosis. I like this statement so, so much: ?Every day I fail at something. Every day someone is suffering because I’m doing all these things.? God, do you know how much I prefer that kind of statement to what most Hollywood moms say? But what do you think of Gwen citing her marriage as her ?biggest accomplishment?? Wouldn?t most moms say their kids? No judgment, it just seemed a little weird to me. Also: Gwen is confirming a miscarriage a few years ago, right? How sad for her.

| No Doubt Gears Up for NFL Opening Season Gig | Added 12 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

They always bring their A-game, and yesterday (September 4) No Doubt showed up at Rockefeller Center in New York City to rehearse for their big NFL Opening Season performance.
Gwen Stefani, Tom Dumont, Adrian Young, and Tony Kanal took the stage and rocked out for a bit in preparation for their performance during the pregame show ahead of the Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants game.
No Doubt will release their new album Push and Shove on September 25th, and Dumont told press that their lead single ?Settle Down? was the obvious choice to break into the pop music scene after a decade away.
?It was pretty early on ? I think early 2010. It might have been the second or third or fourth song we wrote. We were doing most of the writing at [bassist] Tony [Kanal]?s house. He has a home studio, and we would get together a couple of afternoons a week. Most songs started with the music. That song was one of the few on the album that we started with a Jamaican dancehall beat ? something we explored a lot on Rock Steady, and in the case of this record, I think it was the only one that started that way.?
?We started with that kind of musical inspiration, and I would build the musical bed really quickly. I?d sketch it out while Gwen and Tony sat there and waiting for me. I was able to build these things without thinking a whole lot in a half hour or 45 minutes. From there, they would sit with the music and come up with vocal melody ideas. At the end of the process they would fit the lyrics, and the lyrical idea usually came last ? that?s mostly Gwen?s thing.?

Gwen Stefani is the cover girl for the September issue of Harper?s Bazaar, because if there?s one trend for this year?s September issues, it?s ?eh, just choose anyone, no matter how overexposed they are.? Not that I?m hating on Gwen ? I like her okay. But she?s not some huge ?get? for HB. The photo shoot is particularly bad too. Guess who did it? Terry Richardson. He made her look so washed out and Botoxed, although I have been wondering lately if Gwen is actually tweaking, so maybe we can?t blame Richardson for everything. You can read the full interview here, and here are some highlights:
Kingston loves superheroes: “He just discovered superheroes, and he’s obsessed. It was like when I discovered Marilyn Monroe: ob-sess-ed.”
Her mom schedule: “It’s, like, the real deal, dude,” she says. “It’s superfun being a mom, but it’s hard too. Finding that balance between work and family is the hardest thing I’ve ever done?by far.”
Loving dress-up: “I’ve always been a girl who loves to dress up,” says Gwen. “I already put my makeup on twice today: I put it on to take my kid to school, and then I went home, washed my face, and put it on again to have lunch with you.” She even wears it at home because “I like to make my husband like me more,” she says, laughing, “and he likes it when I’m wearing makeup.”
Her hair: Gwen recalls how she felt when, at the age of 25, she spent eight hours in a hair salon in Long Beach getting her coveted white-blonde locks. “It was like I’d unlocked the key. I remember feeling like, ‘I have arrived. This is me. Finally.’” The red lip came when her grandmother gave her a crimson lipstick when she was in high school. “I remember sitting in my ghetto, beat-up Honda Prelude and putting on that lipstick in the rearview mirror and being like, ‘Uh-huh, I like that. That’s the s–t right there.’ I never stopped after that.”
Her body: “I hate talking about my body [all the time]; it’s ridiculous,” she says, referring to the number of times someone has asked how to get her six-pack abs. “There is no secret: You just have to eat healthy, work out, and torture yourself!” Jumping around onstage for a few hours for thousands of screaming fans is great cardio, and she says she hits the gym when her hectic mother-of-two schedule allows. “But it’s more for my brain than it is for my body.”
On how she stays sample-size: “I like to wear clothes too much, so I try to keep focused.”
Roots and hair dye: “Do you think Marilyn Monroe had to talk about this?” she asks, smiling. “Well, I heard she did hers with a Q-tip every 10 days, so I try to follow Marilyn’s rule.” I mention that she’s never been photographed with dark roots, and she points to the houndstooth fedora she is wearing. “And you’ll never see me with roots either.”
The first tour with No Doubt: “I did my own makeup, my own costumes; I did everything myself. I didn’t even know there were stylists.” She made many of her now iconic music-video outfits, though she admits that she used a glue gun as much as a sewing machine. “I remember there was a point when all the guys were sitting around eating pizza, and I finally said I needed some help. So I got an assistant, but guess who he was? A roadie. He took my first Prada dress, which Gavin had bought for me, the first designer piece I ever owned, and he washed it, and it came back this big,” she says, indicating Barbie doll?size with her fingers.
How she seems so ?unaffected?: While her onstage persona is a jumping, screaming extrovert, in her real life she is, in her own words, “passive. I was never a rebel.” She credits that to her relationship with her strict Roman Catholic parents, who she lived with, unbelievably, until she was 25. “When I started dating Gavin, I was still at my parents’ house. Yeah, it’s a little weird,” she says with a smile. (She had a midnight curfew when she went to the prom with Tony Kanal, her bandmate and then boyfriend.) “My mom calls me a peacemaker. I want everyone to be happy. But I have a superbig opinion on everything artistic that I do. I know what I like and I know what I hate?that part of me isn’t passive.”
She doesn?t care about gossip or fame: “That someone would say something untrue or bad about me doesn’t bother me. It’s like water off a duck’s back.” This attitude applies to everything from best-dressed lists to rumors that her marriage is falling apart. “None of that stuff matters. There’s something in me, being this passive person, that those kinds of things don’t upset me. I know they can say anything; they can just make something up. But what are you going to do? It’s not part of my reality, so it’s okay.”
She was never in it for the fame: “We didn’t even do it because we were trying to make it. Now everybody wants to be famous. It doesn’t even matter what you do,” Gwen says. “Let me tell you how that first record happened: My boyfriend had broken up with me and I was devastated, so I wrote all these songs. I didn’t even know I could write. I was just a girl who was in love with this guy, then suddenly I’m a songwriter, and I’ve gotten you back so good. I went from being nothing, from being an ordinary, nerdy girl, to having power.”
[From Harper?s Bazaar]
She comes across as a nice, grounded person, and I have no real problem believing that she?s this chilled-out and peaceful in her real life too. However, I do think she cares about gossip, especially when it?s about her marriage to Gavin Rossdale. They might be strong right now ? and maybe they?ve always been strong ? but I believe some of the negativity affected her and that she and Gavin responded by putting themselves out there as The Strong Rock-Star Couple (posing for photos all the time). Also, I still don?t buy that Gavin prefers Gwen with all of her makeup. She?s always said that he likes her made up, but I think she just needs to admit that she does it for herself, because she loves makeup.

The red lipstick clad "Hollaback Girl" danced around on stage in a kisser-matching sheer top and baggy pants while belting out four songs, including her new hit "Settle Down" from her upcoming album Push and Shove.

During a sit down interview with the ABC morning show Gwen opened up about her new album admitting, "It's not all fun on the record. That's for sure. There's always something to complain about. But there's a little bit of being overwhelmed on the record, I think, because it was really hard trying to find the time with those two little bunny rabbits I made. It's crazy."
However at the same time, the 42-year-old mother explained, "The music is just, it's heavenly. I love it." No Doubt's Push and Shove studio album i slated to hit store shelved sometime in September.
