Just in case you forgot, Jude Law is a very attractive man. These Mr. Porter photos are so old-school Jude! He looks so beautiful. So beautiful that I temporarily forgot that he?s expecting his fifth child by his third baby-mama, a 23-year-old singer-type named Catherine Harding. Catherine and Jude are no longer together. So, he basically got one of his hookups pregnant and he?s trying to make the best out of it. As for this Mr. Porter thing? Jude is promoting his new film, Black Sea. Jude plays ?a laid-off submarine captain who goes in hunt of a sunken ship rumoured to be laden with Nazi gold.? Which might cause some people to wonder: is Jude poor? And the answer is yes. He?s paying child support to two women and he?s about to pay child support to a third. He IS poor. He will work in whatever he can get. You can read the full Mr. Porter article here. Some highlights:
His role in Black Sea: ?It required a certain gravitas. It?s not something I could have done in my twenties or thirties. Having recently turned 40, I feel that I?m only just reaching the stage where I can do this sort of thing justice.?
He has looked forward to aging all his life: ?I tend to think of it in terms of Shakespeare. You can?t play Prospero in your twenties. And you can?t play Lear. In your twenties, you play Romeo, you play Hamlet. And maybe you progress to Coriolanus, to Henry V. They?re like hoops you have to jump through. Keep going, and you?ll get to Prospero, you?ll get to Lear. But you can?t rush it.?
Acknowledging that women have it harder in Hollywood: ?The plight of women over a certain age is a bit of a running gag in the movie industry. Not a very funny one, admittedly.?
The tabloid press: ?I no longer let that stuff in. I honestly don?t know and don?t care what?s being written about me. If people want to buy into it, then they can. I just try to live a normal life now. It?s my right. Being free to go out ? to a restaurant, to the theatre, or even just to a gardening centre ? is my right. That?s what living is. So that?s what I do.?
[From Mr. Porter]
I agree that Jude has grown into what he always wanted to be: a brilliant character actor. People always treated him like he should just be a solid leading man, but Jude wanted different things for his career, and I respect that. I?m glad he?s not clinging to his pretty-boy vibe from two decades ago. And he?s right, the parts for him only get better as he gets older. And it?s not the same for women. As for the tabloid press stuff? I think that?s a smart decision for Jude in particular, to simply not participate in it. Don?t get mad, just ignore it. And he?ll have to do a lot of ignoring if he keeps knocking up his hookups!
PS… I have a thing about great profiles and Jude has an amazing profile! He’s right up there were Angelina Jolie’s profile.

Enjoying the balmy weather of lovely London, Jude Law was spotted making his way to the American Embassy today (March 14).

During a break in his schedule, Jude Law stepped out in Central London on Wednesday (February 26).
While strolling through the city's streets, the "Sherlock Holmes" star stopped and entertained a group of his fans by running a few lines from his latest project with grand gestures and facial expressions.
Meanwhile, Law continues to deal with drama swirling around the phone-hacking scandal involving him, Sienna Miller and Daniel Craig.
Last month, Jude discovered that one of his relatives sold stories to British tabloids, which left him shocked and distraught. During the testimony, the Oscar nominee was passed a note with the name of the close family member he was told was selling information about the scandal to Rupert Murdoch's News of the World tabloid.
When asked about the situation, the 41-year-old stated, "Today. I wasn't aware of that."
Jude added that photographers began to hound him and the press had "unhealthy amounts" of information about his private life, stating, "I became aware I was turning up at places having arranged to go there secretly and the media would already be there."

Here are some photos of Jude Law at last night?s UK premiere of Dom Hemingway, that funny-looking gonzo movie where Jude plays a low-class gangster and Richard E. Grant plays his brother. I covered the first trailer in September, and most of you were super-excited about it. I?ll include the trailer again below (it?s NSFW-ish because of Jude?s bum).
Anyway, I think Jude looked okay at the premiere. I don?t care for his jacket/sweater (?), and I wish he would grow out his hair a bit more, but otherwise, he looks pretty good. Jude recently talked about the transformation he had to undertake to play Dom Hemingway:
Actor Jude Law has confessed that he finds making films dull, the Sunday People can report. Jude, 40, said: ?I really love acting but it is hard work and sometimes can be quite boring. Genuinely. Making films can be quite boring. It should be something different every time you go to work and feel as if you are embarking on something new.?
He was speaking ahead of the premiere of comedy Dom Hemingway, in which he plays a wild drinking safe-cracker seeking what he is owed after a 12-year prison stretch. Law piled on weight to play Dom.
He said: ?My character is a drunk who drank far too much and eats appalling food and smokes 40 fags a day. For three months my diet was whiskey, fags, hamburgers, ice cream and more ice cream. I didn?t feel well by the end.?
He added: ?They cut my suits in by two inches all over so I looked as if I was bulging out of it like toothpaste from a tube. It had to be skin tight. I never weighed myself but it added a sagginess and bloated cheeks. I did not feel well at the end of the five months. By the end of the film I was so ready to quit fags and the drink.?
Serious actor Jude also feared he would fall flat on his face making his new comedy which also stars Richard E Grant. He said: ?There were certain reservations. There was a fear factor as I knew it would be a lot to take on. There was a fear of I suppose failing as it was stretching a new muscle for me.?
[From The Mirror]
Well, if you really need to put on weight and it doesn?t have to be muscle weight, you might as well eat a lot of ice cream and hamburgers and drink whatever you want. Isn?t it weird, though? I don?t think Jude looked bad with the extra weight. I mean, his Dom Hemingway has bad hair and he?s sort of gross, but all of that ?extra weight? made Jude look kind of cuddly. I?m into it. Also ? he?s talking about cigarettes.
I?m also including photos of Peter Capaldi (the new Doctor Who) and Richard Grant.

| Jude Law lost the pretty, gained some acting chops: would you still hit it? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Jude Law at the Peace One Day concert in the Netherlands over the weekend. I can?t say that I still find Jude Law attractive, at least not like I used to find him attractive. If I didn?t know about his past beauty, I would probably think he was a nice-looking guy with a wonky hairline, but you?ve got to understand? Jude?s former beauty was legendary. Like, heterosexual men would stop and comment on his beauty. He was more beautiful than most women.
But maybe Jude?s faded beauty is a good thing. Maybe now he will finally be recognized for his acting chops, which are not insignificant. Jude is an Oscar-nominated actor whose beauty forced him into a more traditional ?leading man? status. Jude?s been fighting that leading man tag for years now, and I feel like he?s finally coming back to where he always wanted to be: a character actor, a shape-shifter, an ensemble player. A few weeks ago, Jude was at TIFF to promote his new film, Don Hemingway, and now we finally have a trailer. Be careful? you will be stunned by this version of Jude. (Note: the trailer is slightly NSFW, depending on how you feel about dude-butt).
I had to watch it twice to understand some of that dialogue. I?m just saying, the accents are very heavy. Jude is playing a criminal, a two-bit gangster who just got out of prison with his sense of humor intact. Demian Bichir plays his boss ? how awesome is it that Demian keeps getting work in these bizarre little projects? Jude?s criminal partner is played by the underrated Richard E. Grant, who is another actor (like Jude) who often gets typecast as ?posh? but who can do sleazy surprisingly well. And did you recognize the actress playing Jude?s daughter? That?s the Khaleesi!! That?s Emilia Clarke. Anyway, this looks like a surprisingly good and entertaining movie. It will be interesting to see if this is where Jude?s career goes from now.

| Jude Law looks kind of filled out in Hawaii: would you hit it? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Long story short: YES I WOULD HIT IT. These are photos of Jude Law on vacation in Hawaii with what appears to be a larger group which includes his children with Sadie Frost and several adult friends. Jude was photographed on the beach, having a grand old time body-surfing and laughing with his kids and friends.
Is it just me or has Jude really gained a lot of weight? Okay, not ?a lot? but all of a sudden he really looks ?filled out? right? In his 20s and early 30s, he always had that whippet-thin, lean and hungry look. Model-thin, like he still had a teenager?s metabolism. But I guess it caught up with him in his late 30s?? He just turned 40 years old last weekend. Now he ?looks good for 40?. Which is probably fine by him, considering he was often thought of as ?too pretty? in his youth. And yes, again? I would hit it. I never mind a little paunch or a wonky hairline, just as long as the dude owns it. And Jude is kind of owning it here.
Also: The Mail says Jude has a new girlfriend named Charlie Hayes-Jones. She?s only 26 years old. You can see a photo of her here.
Most men at risk of a midlife crisis treat themselves to a flash new sports car ? but not Jude Law. The Hollywood star has found himself a new girlfriend 14 years his junior ? who is in California during his 40th birthday celebrations.
Jude jetted off to Los Angeles to spend his birthday in the sunshine state just at the same time as 26-year-old PR executive Charlie Hayes-Jones, who once caught the eye of Prince Harry, touched down. She has also dated Isaac Ferry, the son of crooner Bryan Ferry. It’s been an eventful few months for Jude.
It was recently revealed he was enjoying a fling with wardrobe assistant Ellen Crawshaw, 31, whom he met on the set of his upcoming film Dom Hemingway. Jude grew close to Ellen during filming in the South of France and East London. She told friends at the time that she was worried their romance would fizzle out as soon as filming stopped and earlier this month, Jude turned his attentions to Charlie.
According to spies, the pair were spotted snuggling up on a sofa at London’s Playboy Club. They were also heard discussing their holiday plans. ‘Charlie has been overheard excitedly talking about spending Christmas and New Year in Los Angeles and Las Vegas,’ says my spy. ‘They seemed really happy.’
The couple later decided to drop Las Vegas from their itinerary and Jude has been keen to point out to friends he is in LA with his children and no one else. A friend of leggy Charlie added: ‘She is in PR and so is savvy enough to know how to keep her relationship with Jude quiet but it was plain to see they were a proper couple at the club. They have also been spotted at a Mayfair club together.’
Charlie has posted updates about her trip to California on Facebook, including a picture of her feet with the caption: ‘California is for lovers.’ But she made no mention of Jude.
[From The Mail]
It?s kind of crazy that young, professional 20-something ladies view Jude Law as some kind of ?catch? in which they must angle themselves correctly to make it work. I mean, he?s 40, he?s fathered 4 children already and he has moobs! I?m just saying, you don?t have to work it so hard, Charlie. You?re 26 years old, have some fun with it.

| Jude Law: 'I know I?m not that young sort of pretty thing anymore' | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Jude Law is the new cover boy for the New York Times T Style Magazine. The photos ? by Jude?s friend Sam Taylor Johnson ? are especially gorgeous. Sam is a gifted photographer, and Jude is a great photography subject. It?s not just that he?s beautiful? he?s also interesting-looking, even more interesting as he gets older, I think. Jude is promoting his role in Anna Karenina, a supporting role (as Anna?s severe husband) which some think could net Jude an Oscar nomination. You can read the full NYT piece here ? it?s actually really interesting because Jude talks a lot about being a victim of the phone hacking and all of that. Some highlights:
Playing Karenin, ?Anna?s morally severe, emotionally barren, piously dutiful, highly controlling pain in the neck of a husband? instead of the young heartthrob Vronsky: ?In a weird way, it?s kind of a relief to think, ?Oh, I know I?m not that young sort of pretty thing anymore,? ? he said. ?It?s quite nice talking about what it was like to be the young pretty thing, rather than being it.?
Doing films just for the money: ?Without sounding too pretentious, it?s difficult to remember that it?s an art form and you are, maybe, an artist and you have to make decisions on that level. I feel kind of more confident, more settled as a human being, more settled in my own skin.? When he was younger, he said, he longed to be taken seriously but found that some of his roles did not allow him to do that. Being older, ?you are allowed to be an actor, and the parts you get are more interesting.?
On playing Karenin: ?It seemed to go against everything I have done, and it was fun to investigate the sides of a man that I hadn?t done before in any way, shape or form,? Law said. But it did not mean he was playing against type, he said, ?because I always play against type; I have never played anyone like me.?
He and Sadie Frost share custody of their kids equally, one week with him and one week with Sadie: ?I would not have been able to have the usual kind of paternal-role situation of one weekend every two weeks,? he said. ?I enjoy it too much.? Everyone gets along so well that they take vacations together. ?We made a decision very early on that whatever our opinion of each other ? which I have to say is a good one ? we were going to maintain the function of the family,? Law said. (He also has a young daughter in New York, the result of a brief affair, with whom he is in regular contact.)
Finding his personal life splashed around in the tabloids: ?You suddenly start to go, ?What, what, wait a minute. How do they know this? Where are they piecing this together from?? ? he said, recalling some of the details of his life he saw in the press. It was clear something was going on, but Law did not know what. He became paranoid. He had his house swept for bugs and his car searched for tracking devices. He mistrusted acquaintances, even wondered about friends and family members. ?The weird thing is that you start taking things for granted,? he said. ?Like I thought, Maybe this is just heightened interest in what I?m doing. This is what my life has become. This is my lot and I?ve got to deal with it.?
Finding out, in 2010, that he had been hacked by Rupert Murdoch?s press: At the end of 2010, Law got a call from Scotland Yard. The police had uncovered thousands of pages of notes taken by an investigator hired by the News of the World to dig up dirt on public figures, they told him, and one of the names in the notes was Law?s. ?They just had piles of notes with my credit card details, phone numbers, contacts, friends? contacts, parents? phone numbers,? he said. They also had recordings of voicemail messages from and to him. ?There was this awful afternoon when they came over with a tape recorder and said, ?Could you verify that this is you?? ? None of this surprised him, really, but it made him feel less crazy. ?To have other people go, ?This is outrageous? meant that I didn?t feel like this sort of mad, paranoid, dystopian lunatic saying, ?the world?s following me ? what?s going on?? ? he recalled. ?It felt, strangely, kind of justifying.?
Telling his 16-year-old not to get a tattoo: ?Well, you?ve got them,? Law recalled his son saying, to which he responded, ?Yes, but you?ve got to know that what you get is going to be forever and I don?t think at 16 you know what forever is.?
After the hacking scandal and everything else: ?They had kind of stripped me and my relationships bare ? there was nothing left to write,? Law said. ?And there is only so much laundry one has, in the end, to be washed in public.?
On choosing what to wear during the photo shoot: ?Look, tell me what I?m wearing ? I really don?t care.? He added: ?I don?t have a lot of time anymore for standing around choosing outfits. I?m too long in the tooth for that now.?
[From New York Times Magazine]
I thought the part about his custody arrangement with Sadie was interesting ? I didn?t know that they split everything equally. That?s nice what he said about enjoying being a father, although I like that the NYT dropped a line in there about his other child, the one he fathered through a one night stand with some (slightly crazy) fan-girl.
As for Jude?s thoughts on his own aging beauty and how he?s no longer the heartthrob? what I always liked about Jude as an actor is that he never really relied on his beauty alone. He was always a talented actor, and he rarely took parts where it was just about being pretty. That being said, I think I?d rather hit it with this current Jude than the 20-something physically-perfect Jude. I like a dude with some scruff and fading prettiness.

| Jude Law in character as a gross gangster/felon in London: would you hit it? | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I emailed CB and told her to check out these photos of Jude Law in London. I think I might have included the words ?gross? or ?ew? in my email because? look at him. Jude?s prettiness has taken a few hits over the past few years, but just a few months ago, he was looking really hot again. Anyway, this was CB?s reply: ?I think he still looks good! Should I be ashamed of that?? I didn?t want to say it? but yes. You should be ashamed of it!!
To be fair to poor old Jude, he IS in character. The film is called Dom Hemingway (??) and IMDB describes the plot as such: ?After spending 12 years in prison for keeping his mouth shut, notorious safe-cracker Dom Hemingway is back on the streets of London looking to collect what he’s owed.? So don?t go into the film thinking that it?s about Ernest Hemingway making champagne or something (?Dom Hemingway or Dom Perignon? Who can decide??). What I?m saying is that Jude is supposed to look like a gross mobster-type who just got out of prison. And I still would NOT hit it.
Meanwhile, I just watched the new trailer for Jude?s latest film, Side Effects. It looks? interesting. It?s another Steven Soderbergh film, and it also stars Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones. It wasn?t what I was expecting, but everyone looks really interesting.
I would see that. It?s interesting to see Channing Tatum in this kind of serious ensemble, right? But Channing looks great, as does Jude. Rooney might be the weak link? We?ll see.
I?m also including a photo of Jude?s costar in Dom Hemingway, a woman named Madalina Ghenea. You may also know her as ?the chick who is currently boning Gerard Butler.?

Call me crazy, but I actually think Jude Law is looking really good lately. His hair has grown out to a good length (alternate theory: hairplugs), I like the scruff, and his face has filled out a little bit as he?s gotten older. Don?t get me wrong, I totally remember how mind-numbingly beautiful Jude used to be ? he was insanely beautiful, literally one of the most beautiful men in the world. But he?s aged. He?s lost some hair. He?s impregnated a few women. He?s cheated on a girlfriend. For where he is in his life right now, I think Jude looks pretty good at 39 years old (he?ll be 40 in December). However, this Star Mag story presupposes the idea that we?ve all been talking about how Jude Law looks like sh-t.
Jude Law was once considered Hollywood?s hottest bachelor, but lately he?s looking more like an unpaid extra. Friends close to Jude have noticed him growing increasingly unhappy and disheveled as he struggles with a midlife crisis.
?He doesn?t know what to do to make himself feel better,? admits an insider, who reveals that the actor was crushed when one of his latest films, 360, bombed. ?He?s staying up late, drinking, smoking and eating junk food. It?s all driving him deeper into depression.?
Another problem is his fading sex appeal: ?The studios think his movies are flopping because he doesn?t have the pretty-boy appeal he used to. Jude was never concerned with being handsome. But now that he?s starting to age, he?s realizing he was actually very dependent on his looks.?
And, adds the insider, as his looks continue to deteriorate, so does his social life!
?Jude?s greatest vice has always been women, but they are not falling into his lap they way they used to.?
[From Star Magazine, print edition]
Yes, Jude is no longer a pretty boy. So sad. But I doubt it?s bothering him this much ? after all, have you seen the way he looks in Anna Karenina? That?s not the appearance of an actor who is obsessed with youth and beauty. As for the other stuff, the ?mid-life crisis? part of the story? sure. He?s turning 40 years old in two months. Let him have a mid-life crisis. It?s not the end of the world! And Jude will always have a future in films because he?s always been a talented actor IN SPITE of his beauty. His beauty was never a crutch. As he gets older, he?s going to get more and more work as a character actor, which is probably fine with him.
You know what would make him feel better? Impregnating some random girl.
