| Lily Collins in Ronald Van Der Kemp at the LA 'Tolkien' premiere: cute or blah' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The big LA premiere of Tolkien was held last night at the Regency Westwood Village Theatre. We?ve discussed this movie before Nicholas Hoult plays a young JRR Tolkien who falls in love with the woman who becomes his wife (played by Lily Collins) and makes lots of friends at Oxford before going off to fight in World War I. His university experiences combined with his WWI service strongly influence his writing of the Lord of the Rings books. Unfortunately, the Tolkien estate wants no part of this movie and they want everyone to know that they did not approve the rights. Still, the movie promotion continues. George RR Martin even came out for this premiere and posed happily with Hoult and Collins!
Fashion-wise, I guess Hoult and Collins decided to coordinate with each other in pastels for some reason. Hoult wore a rather spectacular pale Pink suit, and Lily wore a Ronald Van Der Kemp Spring 2019 Couture halter gown. Did you know Lily is 30 years old? She still looks like a teenager to me, and the makeup and styling choices are definitely? ah, youthful? She looks like a kid who played around in her mom?s makeup and thought her messy high bun was super-fancy. The dress itself is kind of terrible too I wish the whole thing would have been the plaid fabric, or that they had figured out a better top.
Here?s a cute Wired video with Hoult & Collins:

| Lily Collins claims the ghosts of Ted Bundy's victims visited her | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

In addition to taking on the role of JRR Tolkien?s wife in Tolkien with Nicholas Hoult, and Fantine in the BBC?s version of Les Miserable, Lily Collins plays Liz Kloepfer, Ted Bundy?s girlfriend, in Netflix?s Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Liz was a single mom when she met and fell for Bundy. According to the film, it wasn?t until he sat on death row that Liz was able to fully free herself from his clutches. So how does one prepare for such a role? According to Lily, she had help ? in the form of Bundy?s victims? ghosts who haunted her at 3AM each morning. If you listened to yesterday?s Gossip with Celebitchy podcast, you?ll know that hanging out with ghosts is one of my favorite things to talk about.
Undoubtedly the darkest of her recent projects is Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, about the serial killer Ted Bundy, who murdered more than 30 girls and women in seven US states in the 1970s. The title comes from the judge?s summation of Bundy?s acts when sentencing him to death. Collins plays Elizabeth Kloepfer, the killer?s long-term girlfriend who is convinced of his innocence, with Zac Efron playing a charismatic and persuasive Bundy.
While preparing for the role, over the Christmas holidays, Collins recounts how she would wake every night at 3.05am. ?I would go downstairs and have a cup of tea, trying to figure out why I had woken up again.? Then, she says, ?I started being woken up by flashes of images, like the aftermath of a struggle.? She went to the internet to investigate. ?I discovered that 3am is the time when the veil between the realms is the thinnest and one can be visited.? She began to believe women who were murdered by Bundy were, perhaps, trying to contact her. ?I didn?t feel scared ? I felt supported. I felt like people were saying: ?We?re here listening. We?re here to support. Thank you for telling the story.?
Collins tells me all of this in a completely matter-of-fact manner, as if receiving messages from long-dead murder victims were a perfectly normal part of preparing for a film.
[The Guardian by way of DListed]
I?ve actually heard mention about a boundary between this world and the afterlife being thinner at certain times. I didn?t know it was a daily thing, though. I imagined it was something that happened at certain times of the year or after major events like earthquakes and floods or when failed TV stars get elected to the White House. What does one offer to a spirit at 3AM? Coffee and donuts seems trite, but it?s just too early for scotch. I?d love to know if Lily believed in ghosts before they started supporting her career or after.
I had to leave the jokes up there because although The Guardian?s interview with Lily is actually pretty good, her comments about Bundy?s victims didn?t sit that well with me. I watched Extremely Wicked over the weekend and was impressed with Efron?s performance. Lily was good in her role as well. I was aware of Bundy through my parents during his trials and execution and researched his crimes later for a script. When the movie begins, the authorities are already looking at Bundy as a perpetrator. The angle the story took was how people reacted to Bundy, whether they were swayed by his charisma or infuriated by the fact he had that effect on others. The horror of his crimes is conveyed with little to no visuals and even though they are prevalent in the story, they are not sensationalized for the sake of entertainment. Although Lily?s perception of Bundy?s victims reaching out to her to thank her is a pleasant one, it walks the edge of exploitative. I very much want Bundy?s victims to have peace, I?m just not sure an early-morning Lily is the one to give it to them.
Thank you to DListed for making us aware of this interview!

| Lily Collins in Giambattista Valli at the UK 'Tolkien' premiere: cute or terrible' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

As we discussed yesterday, briefly, Nicholas Hoult is in a bio-pic of JRR Tolkein?s life, or really Tolkien?s college life. This was pre-World War I, and Tolkien was a young married man and he went to Oxford and dreamed of Lord of the Rings. The Tolkien estate is not pleased about any of it, and they want you to know they do not approve of this bio-pic. But still, pretty pictures.
These are photos from last night?s London premiere. Hoult looked delicious in his Burberry suit (mmm) and Lily Collins was? there too. Lily plays his wife. She decided to go with this dumb Giambattista Valli gown. Let me say something nice to start? while I rarely enjoy Lily?s fashion choices, I do enjoy the fact that she takes sartorial risks and rarely goes for a boring column gown with a messy bun, you know? But this is a lot of look the pale floral fabric looks like a repurposed sheet, and the peplum isn?t helping AT ALL. The fact that the peplum is actually made to look extra puffy and crooked is a terrible design idea. The gold belt belongs on a different gown. Lily?s styling doesn?t match the dress at all either crimped hair (sleek on top) with fking hot Pink eye makeup? WHY IS THIS A TREND?
One other piece of Hoult news it was just announced that he has signed on for Those Who Wish Me Dead, which will also star Angelina Jolie and possibly? Tyler Perry? LMAO. It?s based on a serious novel (of the same name) about ?a 14-year-old boy who witnesses a brutal murder, is issued a false identity and hidden in a wilderness skills program for troubled teens while the killers are slaughtering anyone who gets in their way in a methodical quest to reach him.? No one knows who Hoult will play. But I?m excited that he will be working with La Jolie.

I never understood whyLily Collins tried to become a rich kid actress, when she’s clearly got way more talent as a rich kid model. Anyway, it’s still not too late for Lily to make a career switch. All she needs to do is keep posing for sexy photoshoots like this and maybe find a manager […]

I’ve always thoughtLily Collins would make for a way better rich kid model than a rich kid actress, and this photoshoot just proves it. I mean, look at those legs! I could spend all day trying to climb those things. …OK, more like 30-45 seconds. But still. Here’s hoping there’s more where this came from. […]

| Lily Collins on anorexia: It's a part of who I am but doesn't define me | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Lily Collins has been in Sundance promoting her new film, a dark comedy about anorexia called To The Bone. As CB reported, Lily surprised many people during a press conference by admitting that she struggled with eating disorders as a teen. However, she was poised to talk about it because she had addressed this in a chapter in her autobiography, Unfiltered, No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me, right before she received the script for To The Bone. The film?s director, Marti Noxon, said her hope for the film was to start a discussion. It sounds like that is Lily?s desire too, which is good because it?s a discussion many people need to hear and have. The reason, as Lily points out, is because although the thoughts never really left her, they don’t define her.
?It?s a topic that is taboo, I think, with young girls, and it’s really important to tell a story with this subject matter in the way that we tell it,? Collins recently told ET at an EE British Academy Film Awards nominations party in January.
For Collins, who recently opened up about her own battle with eating disorders as a teenager, To the Bone has been a cathartic experience. ?It was terrifying as well. You?re facing something head on that you?ve come out of and now you?re willingly putting yourself back into,? she reveals at Sundance.
In fact, Collins, 27, had just finished writing a book detailing her teenage struggles when she got the script for Noxon?s film. ?It was like the universe putting these things in my sphere to help me face, kind of dead on, a fear that I used to have,? she said in a
Given Collins? own history with eating disorders, the actress surrounded herself with medical experts and a nutritionist to lose the weight for the role, but also to gain it back. ?This was not something I?d done when I was younger,? she tells ET. ?It was a new way of looking at the disease, but coming from someone 10 years on and looking back at it. I got to insert my own experiences, but at the same time, this was for Ellen; this was research for a character that I could relate to but who is very different from me. It was like therapy — I got to surround myself with very strong women and Marti, who went through it as well.?
While her journey for the film was handled in a professional (and healthy) manner, Collins does admit ?it never fully goes away.?
?It?s a part of who you are,? she says, adding that while the battle is constant, it?s a matter of control and self-preservation. ?You don?t have to participate in those thoughts. It doesn?t define who I am as a person, but it?s something I think we should all talk about.?
[From ET]
This is going to sound incredibly shallow but I first got turned on to this movie because Keanu Reeves is in it. However, the fact that it?s a dark comedy and deals with eating disorders intrigues me. Netflix has purchased the film and will release it later this year. Like CB, I was unable to find a trailer for it yet but I do think I will check it out when it streams. If I like the approach, I will have both my kids watch it. Eating disorders are scary and confusing. Since you can never give up food, they are a particularly tricky addiction. I remember the shocking death of Karen Carpenter in 1983 and the hushed tones about what actually killed her (Anorexia Nervosa). After that, we had a one-day ‘these are the different eating disorders’ lesson in health class and that was it. My mom finally found a documentary for us to watch because none of us had ever heard anything like it before.
Given the subject and Lily?s admission, much attention has been paid to her skinny frame in the film. Lily et al assured everyone that it was done healthy and with constant medical supervision. Was it necessary, though? I get it?s a small film and didn?t have the budget for massive CGI but surely there are some tricks in today?s industry that would allow the filmmakers to make Lily look thinner than she is. Fortunately, Lily sounds like she is in a healthy place and that losing a lot of weight did not prey on her. It’s possible that maybe she needed to do this for herself as much as anyone else.

| Lily Collins covers Bazaar Australia in Chanel: fabulous or fug? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Actress Lily Collins is the cover model for the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar Australia. The 26-year-old, whom you may remember from her roles as Sandra Bullock’s daughter in The Blind Side and Snow White Mirror Mirror (a/k/a the “other” Snow White movie), looks otherworldly in a netted, ruffled and sequined dress by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. The whole outfit looks a little stuck in the 80s for my tastes (it could be the fingerless gloves too), but I love the makeup and slick hairdo.
The 26-year-old is the daughter of rock god Phil Collins (whom you might remember from Genesis if you’re like me, or from that song Mike Tyson air drummed to in The Hangover if you’re a young’un) and American model Jill Tavelman. Lily told the magazine that her model mom is the reason she’s such a fashionista, claiming, “It’s funny because I also have fashion in my blood.” She goes on to say, “My mother’s family owned a shop called Tavelman’s on Wilshire Boulevard. They designed suits and clothing for so many actors her in town, starting in the 1930s. My mom would help out in the store when she was little. So it’s nice to share these passions with my family.”
Lily loves to talk fashion, but tries to keep mum about her love life – which is hard to do when you’re romantically linked to Nick Jonas. But Nick isn’t saying much either. When grilled about the relationship on the red carpet at a pre-Super Bowl party this past Friday, Nick kept his comments short. A reporter for Entertainment Tonight asked the 23-year-old singer if he could comment on the relationship to which Nick simply replied, “I can’t at all. At all.” Nick might have pleaded the fifth as he’s been recently seen with 36-year-old Kate Hudson. It’s always the quiet ones, isn’t it?
Nick’s romantic life is starting to resemble an old Three’s Company episode where Jack ends up with two dates scheduled for the same night. There are definitely some levels to his love (see what I did there?) You do have to give it to Nick though, as he’s already covered his bases for Valentine’s Day. He told E! News why he wasn’t celebrating the special day, telling the reporter, “It’s right before the Grammys, so there’s a lot of stuff happening in L.A., so I’ve gotta concentrate.” How convenient, huh?
