One of the most iconic films of the 1980s was ?Top Gun,? and now it seems a sequel is in the works.
According to a report, ?Top Gun 2? is being considered, with Paramount Pictures beginning to assemble a production team.
The studio has extended an offer to Jerry Bruckheimer to produce the project, and director Tony Scott is also being courted to sign on.
As for the original ?Top Gun? Tom Cruise, he?s said to be on board to reprise his role as Maverick in a small appearance.

Last week, when the world got to see photos of Tom Cruise on the set of Mission: Impossible 4, many of were slightly disturbed. First of all, I just want to say - I do think Tom is a very nice-looking man for his age. When he?s all cleaned up and in a suit, he looks really nice and handsome. But now that we?ve seen what Tom - at the age of 48 - looks like shirtless, I think many of us wish we could ?unsee? it. Because Tom is disturbingly lumpy. At first I just rolled my eyes with the idea that Tom had gotten lipo, but now I?m beginning to wonder if you bitches were right. Is it bad/weird/budget lipo?
So these are new photos of Tom, once again shooting what looks like the same scene as last week - Tom, on the side of a building? shirtless. We?re getting to see his odd lumps (as opposed to his ?lovely lady lumps? I guess) in profile. Look at what?s going on around his rib cage! What IS that?
Sigh? does anyone else feel sorry for Tom sometimes? He wants so badly to be beloved by the public once again. And beyond the Xenu and the couch-jumping and the weirdness and the Kate-Bot, is he really so bad? We have much worse ?movie stars?. At this point I?m hoping Mission: Impossible 4 is a big hit for Lumpy. He wants it so much.

Many of you probably saw some of the ?Tom Cruise XXX TOPLESS? photos on other sites yesterday. Unfortunately, we didn?t have access to those special ones of Tom flying around on his wires like a flexible circus act. Instead we have these, of Tom just walking around the Mission: Impossible 4 set shirtless. This is Tom hanging out. Chilling. It looks like he?s concentrating really hard on something. Perhaps he?s imagining David Beckham licking his nipples. Jesus? that just got me hot! Who knew? Homoerotic fan fiction of Tom Cruise and David Beckham?s alleged coupling turns me on. Now I know.
Now, even though I?m impressed with Tom?s body - he really is in wonderful shape for a man his age - I?m also wondering if anyone else think his stomach is weirdly lumpy? Like, I know some (most) of those lumps are gristly muscles. Some of those lumps really are strange, right?
This one is my favorite. Tom, shirtless and licking his lips over some mysterious fantasy - or maybe he?s just turned on by something on the ground? Probably a photo of a vagina, OF COURSE.

Showing off his still-fit physique, Tom Cruise filmed scenes as his Ethan Hunt character for "Mission: Impossible IV" in Prague on Wednesday (October 6).
Mounting the roof of a moving van on a zip wire from the third floor of a local building, the daring actor pulled off his top as he knocked out scene upon scene.
As for the new movie, "Mission: Impossible IV" is being directed by Brad Bird with a release date set for December 16, 2011.
With few details being divulged thus far, the action flick co-stars Jeremy Renner, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Maggie Q and Josh Holloway, among others.

These are photos of Tom Cruise filming Mission: Impossible IV in Prague over the weekend. My favorite pics are the ones where you can see that Tom is wearing a low-cut blouse under his manly leather jacket. He?s almost giving us a nip-slip! Oh, Tom! I?m also disappointed that all of the sightings from this film production have been of Tom - where is Jeremy Renner? Where is Josh Holloway? Those bastards better get pap?d too. Anyway, there isn?t much to talk about, so I?m pulling this story out of my ass. First off, Tom looks pretty good in these photos, right? So good, in fact, that I?m wondering if he got a little nip-and-tuck before production started. I think The Daily Mail was trying to call him out on it too, noting:
?It’s either the love of a beautiful woman or his three kids that are keeping him youthful - either way Tom Cruise doesn’t look a day over 35 - even though he’s nearing 50-years-old. Cruise is in Prague filming Mission: Impossible IV and like his other recent films, he’s taking on a lot of the stunts himself and is as active as actors half his age. Has he had something done? I think so. But I don?t know if he had something done recently. His face began to look tighter and there was something going on with his eyes back a few years ago, when he and Katie were spending some mysterious time in Brazil, known to some as one of the best countries to get a little work done. Oh, well. We?ll never know!
I did want to mention one other thing - Agent Bedhead and I cannot stop emailing each other about Tom?s lifts. She sent me this Gawker photo of Tom where he?s holding some of big manly boots. We were debating whether the boots have built-in lifts, or whether Tom was holding the normal pair while he was wearing the lifts. I told Bedhead I thought the boots he was holding were not lifts, but not I?m not so sure. Tom is pretty consistent in his pairing of his high heels with his skinny jeans. And he?s wearing baggy pants in that photo. So maybe not. It?s seriously gotten to be a game at this point - Spot the Lifts!

After a long day on set, Tom Cruise treated himself to a visit to the historical Charles Bridge in Prague on Wednesday (September 29).
The ?Knight and Day? actor looked cute and casual in jeans and a sweater as he graciously posed with several lucky fans outside the historical Czech Republic site.
Earlier in the day, Mr Cruise was spotted hard at work on ?Mission Impossible IV? and at one point was dressed as a Russian soldier complete with an impressive mustache.
Aside from readying for his new flick, Tom has been busy premiering ?Knight and Day? alongside Cameron Diaz. The two were spotted in Tokyo, Japan earlier this week.

Getting started on another installment of his hit movie franchise, Tom Cruise began filming scenes for "Mission: Impossible IV" in Prague, Czech Republic on Wednesday (September 29).
Clad in a Russian uniform, Bruce Springsteen T-shirt and donning a large mustache, the "Top Gun" hunk hopped in front of his cameras to reprise his character of Ethan Hunt.
Meanwhile, the cast for Tom's upcoming action flick keeps getting better - as Josh Holloway is said to have just agreed to take on a role.
While details are being kept quiet, it has been reported that Holloway's character would "be on the Impossible Missions Force, the secret agent task force headed by Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt character."

Taking their promotional efforts overseas, Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz partook in the Japanese premiere of their film "Knight and Day" in Tokyo on Tuesday (September 28).
Waving to hundreds of lined-up fans, the attractive co-stars made the visit as their action movie will be screened in Japan beginning October 9.
For the Tokyo red carpet visit, Miss Diaz was all smiles while looking especially hot in a tight black dress and black and Pink heels.
Meanwhile, her "Top Gun" actor co-star was his usual congenial self, telling press and fans, "Im very glad to be here, this place is very special to me."

Since this is In Touch Weekly, I?m really hoping this story isn?t true. But since it involves Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes spending a ridiculous sum of money to dress up their favorite living doll Suri, I have to think it?s probably 100% accurate. According to ITW, Tom made special arrangements with his own personal princess-costume-maker (I?m joking - or am I?) to make Suri a one-of-a-kind princess dress that she can wear for one special night, Halloween. Not that Suri will just wear it for one night only - if it?s especially Pink and frilly (and since Tom is buying, I?m thinking it will be), Suri might even wear that bad-boy for two whole days. Oh, and there are diamonds too.
For most kids, Halloween means a homemade costume or a trip to Target or WalMart. Suri Cruise, on the other hand, is going trick-or-treating as a princess - complete with a custom-made dress and real jewels!
According to a friend, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes spared no expense to make this upcoming Halloween a memorable one for their 4-year-old.
?It?s more than a month away, but Suri already has her fairy-princess gown and will be wearing diamonds with her costume,? explains a friend. The insider says Tom spent more than $6,000 on the dress, which features a tulle skirt and pearl embroidery.

So it?s not like the diamonds are built into the dress that she?ll only wear once. From what I gather, the diamonds are a separate styling choice that Suri has chosen to accentuate her princess costume. Can you imagine seeing that when she comes to your door wanting a mini-Snickers? Anyway? yeah, I also believe this because Suri, like lots of little girls, has a big thing for princesses. But, unlike all of those other little girls, Suri?s parents seem to be convinced that she actually needs to act, dress and be a little princess. There comes a point when ?harmless kid stuff? just becomes ?being a bad parent.? And that point comes when you?re arranging diamonds on your 4-year-old?s Halloween costume.

Spending another day scouting locations, Tom Cruise was spotted out in Prague, Czech Republic yesterday afternoon (September 22).
The ?Risky Business? actor looked focused as he scoped out the scene in one area of the beautiful city while nearby paparazzi snapped up pics.
Tom also made sure to spend some quality time with his wife Katie Holmes and their daughter Suri with a special dinner out last night.
Suri looked to have acquired a Pink motorized puppy that she eventually stashed in her stroller as they made their way back to their hotel.
