Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner had a couple of well photographed outings recently that looked staged, in my opinion. They take pains not to be photographed together on the red carpet, and in these park outing photos they were smiling, playing with their kids and kissing. (They also went out to eat at Nobu recently.) It’s possible they were just followed by the paparazzi who stalk them daily and decided to make the best of it. They were at the park to attend their older daughter Violet’s soccer game so it’s not like they could leave. Even if they did set up the photos I can’t really blame them. They’re damned if they do, damned if they don’t, as evidenced by this story in In Touch that their marriage is allegedly in trouble but they’re working on it. Given all we know about Ben, it sounds likely even if it’s completely made up, and that’s likely to be the case too. Here’s what In Touch says, and they note that the two have been necessarily apart due to work arrangements.
Just hours after filming on the NYC set of Arthur, in which she co-stars with Russell Brand, Jennifer Garner packed up her daughters… and bounded a flight back to LA and her husband…
It had been weeks since Jennifer, 38, had been in LA with Ben, 38, and it appeared she couldn’t get home fast enough…
“Ben was so happy to have them home, he took Jen out for a romantic date to Malibu’s Nobu restaurant that weekend,” says a friend.
But it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the couple, who recently celebrated their five-year anniversary. They’ve been in counseling since last year to work through some of their issues. “Ben was never the marrying type,” says the friend. “He is still a playboy at heart, and now that he’s getting closer to 40, he seems to be going through a midlife crisis.” But the therapy sessions seem to be working -for now. “Ben battles demons, but does his best to keep the marriage going. He loves Jen and adores his daughters, so he’s making it work.”

The thing that made me think these two might be having problems is a giant 7 carat diamond ring that Garner has been wearing occasionally. Many of you noted that it looks like a guilt gift from Affleck. He may have done it just to be sweet though and it’s a damn nice piece of jewelry! Who are we to knock a guy for giving his wife a ginormous ring?
Ben looks kind of annoyed in these photos but maybe we can chalk that up to the fact that there are several paparazzi bothering him while he’s trying to have a day out with his family. A lot of stories claim couples are having problems based on the fact that someone looks pissed off in photos. Imagine the things these guys shout while they’re taking the pictures and it’s easy to see why the celebrities are mad.
The Town is coming out on September 10 and marks Ben’s second film as a writer/director. He’s going to star in this one too, and it looks damn good. I hope that it does well at the box office and helps herald Affleck’s comeback. He’s had some minor successes but nothing big yet.

Making for quite the enjoyable family outing, Jennifer Garner and husband Ben Affleck were out at the park with their daughters in Los Angeles, California on Saturday morning (July 31).
Finding the perfect spot to set up shop, the "Juno" actress and her "State of Play" hubby tended to little Seraphina as they watched eldest daughter Violet and her pals participate in a kiddie soccer match.
Doting affection onto one another after quite the busy past few weeks, Jen lovingly kissed Ben throughout the course of the on-field action.
Once Violet's match came to and end, the family of four played around on the playground equipment before loading into the car and heading home.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck just celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary. For the momentous event, they went out to dinner, just the two of them. These are photos of them leaving the restaurant. CB noticed that Jennifer seems to be wearing the gigantic diamond ring that Ben bought her last year.
Here?s a question: did you think they would make it this far? I didn?t it. I honestly thought Ben?s self-destructive nature would win out, and he would send this marriage down in flames. I thought he was too damaged from Jennifer Lopez to jump right into another long-term commitment. I also thought it probably wasn?t the best idea for Jennifer Garner to get pregnant like two seconds into their relationship and then run off and get married. But I guess this shows, sometimes shotgun marriages do work out, and they can be very happy.
Although they don?t look all that happy in these photos. That could be because they?re being photographed, and they don?t like the paparazzi. Or it could be that Jennifer?s hair is really bothering her, because she seems way more into her hair than her husband. Maybe I?m just overanalyzing (I do that). Do you think Ben and Jennifer will make it another five years? Or are they already white-knuckling it?

Looking very much in love, Ben Affleck was spotted spending time alongside Jennifer Garner in Los Angeles, California on Tuesday afternoon (January 26).
Meeting up after tending to separate matters, the “Juno” actress and her “Good Will Hunting” hubby laughed amongst one another while chatting it up during their midday stroll.
The outing comes after Ben voiced his displeasure over Jen’s openness about his seductive writing skills during a recent interview with Parade magazine.
After being questioned about Garner’s comments, Affleck told press, “I do write emails to my wife, that is true. Sounds like the kind of thing that my wife was looking for something to say in the interview and that’s what she came up with.”
He irritatedly continued, “So, thanks for that, because now here I am, doing another interview and then they ask me about that. So, thank you honey.”

She’s definitely a woman-on-the-go, and Jennifer Garner recently opened up on how she makes time for the important things in life.
As the wife of Ben Affleck and a mother of two beautiful girls- not to mention a booming film career – Ms Garner admits to Parade magazine that she still manages to keep the sparks alive with Affleck.
She tells, “You steal the time. You steal a date, you steal a kiss, you steal a whisper. You sit next to each other on the couch with computers on your laps. After the kids are asleep you...well, you know.”
The 37-year-old added, “Whatever it is. You slip away for a night, which we’ve only just now done for the first time. Of course, I call home while we’re away. Ben would be surprised if I didn’t.”

Fitting in some precious family time, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck enjoyed a weekend park playdate in Santa Monica on Saturday (January 16).
The “Juno” actress and her “Good Will Hunting” hubby tended to daughters Violet and Seraphina - having a blast on the playground equipment during their midday outing.
During the course of the day, Jen also made time to stock up on the household needs - going shopping at Gelson’s with little Violet.
Meanwhile, Miss Garner will be among the stars on hand for the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday evening, as she’s scheduled to present an award at the annual ceremony.

Keeping busy with family matters, Jennifer Garner took the girls over to a Los Angeles office building where they meet up with papa Ben Affleck on Thursday (January 14).
After grabbing up the “Good Will Hunting” actor, the foursome made their exit into the parking garage - where Ben proceeded to yell at the valet attendants for not kicking out the paparazzi.
With the garage workers quickly moving to action by yelling at the intrusive shutterbugs, Ben, Jen and the girls loaded into their Lexus SUV to continue about with the day’s agenda.
Meanwhile, Miss Garner is gearing up for a busy weekend - as she’s been named as one of the many star presenters at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards.

Relishing every moment that their busy schedules allow them to be together, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were spotted out with the girls in Brentwood on Sunday (January 3).
With the “Good Will Hunting” hunk carrying along Violet as Jen tended to little Seraphina, the adorable foursome hit up a few local shops including the kid-friendly Toy Crazy.
And while there’s no way to be certain, we have the feeling that the family shopping spree just so happened to be to load up on gifts for baby Seraphina.
In just three short days, the youngest Affleck will be ringing in her very first birthday - which is sure to be quite the festive affair!

Jennifer Garner is the cover girl for the January 2010 issue of W Magazine. The full interview hasn?t been released yet, but there are some pretty good excerpts floating around. First: the cover image. It?s okay. I tend to think Jennifer?s hair is too dark, and that she would benefit from some highlights. Other than that, she looks great. She?s lost the weight from her second pregnancy, and the girl is one of the few who can pull off orange. I do prefer the second image from W Magazine, though, the black and white one (below). It?s sultry and sexy, and it?s nice to see Jennifer still has that part of herself.
Anyway, Jennifer is doing the cover interview as part of her advanced promotion for Valentine?s Day, which comes out? yes, you guessed it. In the excerpts I?ve found, Jennifer isn?t talking too much about the film, though. Instead, she?s talking about her life with Ben and their two girls:
On deciding to have kids with Ben: “We were together a year, and we just started breeding. We were like, ‘Let?s have a baby!’ And eight days later?”
On her mentioning Ben in interviews and his not mentioning her: “Ben asks me, ‘How come when I do an interview I manage to keep you out of it completely?’ And I?m like, ‘Either because you don?t think about me or because boy magazines don?t care about what I make you for dinner. But they should!’”
On being away from loved ones while working: “That?s the hardest thing about being on location when it?s not for your own project. When it?s for you, you?re on set with everybody you know, but if not, it?s lonely. I can live with Ben working crazy hours. But I can?t live without girlfriends around to talk about men with! . . . It?s fine if he?s not there; I just need someone to bitch about it to!”

I don?t blame Jennifer for talking about Ben in this interview or any interview. People want to know, so many mothers look up to her as their sweatpant-clad patron saint, and people love looking at photos of her family. There?s interest there, and Jennifer usually doesn?t give too much away. Plus, she probably wants to do a little damage control after that little rumor blip about Ben and his costar Blake Lively. For the record - I don?t think Ben cheated on Jennifer with Blake. But I also don?t think Ben and Jennifer?s relationship is as solid as some people think. We?ll see.

Remember that honking giant engagement ring that Ben Affleck bought for Jennifer Lopez back in 2003? It was a 6.1 carat Pink diamond from Harry Winston and he paid 1.2 million for it at the time. These two canceled their wedding at the last minute in January, 2004 and the rest is history. The ring was sold in 2005 with no word on if the proceeds went to Ben or J.Lo or if they shared.
Jennifer Garner, Ben’s wife of four and a half years, has been seen out with a ring to top J.Lo’s giant Pink bauble. According to Star Magazine, the thing is 7 carats and it’s real!
Ben Affleck sure knows how to make a girl feel appreciated! He recently gave wife Jennifer Garner a stunning 7-carat diamond ring as a thank-you for hanging in there while he shoots the romantic drama The Town in Boston. “Jennifer was flabbergasted when he gave it to her,” says a source. “He said he knows he’s so lucky to have her, and that she’s a great mom.” So now Jen is tending to daughters Violet, 4 and Seraphina, 11 months, with a hot new rock on her hand. “She isn’t pretentious at all, so she’s kind of embarrassed by the size of it,” adds the source. “But she’s getting into showing off her bling!”

I scoured through photos of Jennifer Garner, because her poor family is pretty much stalked by paparazzi, and I found photos of her wearing the amazing ring on 11/17, 11/19 and 11/21. In photos taken on 11/28, 11/29 and 12/1 she’s not wearing the ring. She attended a charity event last night wearing different rings. Garner is an understated person who dresses pretty casually when she’s not on the red carpet. At first I thought she might not want to wear the ring out much because it’s so valuable. She’s also looking very thin lately, so maybe the giant diamond ring is out being sized. It’s also possible she’s not that into the ring, like maybe she thinks it’s garish. J.Lo loves flashy jewelry but Garner seems content with a few low-key pieces. She did have a ton of diamonds on at the 2008 Oscars, but that’s pretty much what all the celebrities wear.
