Is there a Friends curse? There seemed to be a Seinfeld curse until Julia Louis-Dreyfus found success with The New Adventures of Old Christine, before it was unceremoniously cancelled. Courteney Cox has a successful sitcom with Cougar Town but her private life is a mess. Jennifer Aniston can’t buy a hit movie or a boyfriend, as much as she tries. David Schwimmer is having a baby with his new half-his-age wife, but Lisa Kudrow seems totally off the radar.
At least Matthew Perry and Matt Leblanc are trying to get back into the TV game. Both have new shows coming out this winter. Matthew Perry’s show is a comedy called Mr. Sunshine.
Don’t be fooled by the title. Matthew Perry is more sardonic than cheerful in this new comedy about the self-involved manager of a San Diego arena who begins to reevaluate his life when he hits the big 4-0. The Friends alum can relate: His return to the small screen was prompted by his own stark realization.
“My phone wasn’t ringing off the hook with movie offers,” he admits.
Still, Sunshine is much more than a paycheck for Perry. Besides starring, he cocreated it and also serves as a writer and exec producer. “It’s important to try to do something you haven’t done before, especially if you’re scared of doing it,” he says of spreading his creative wings. “Luckily, I was smart enough to know you should surround yourself with funny, talented people.”
Rounding out the crack ensemble: Allison Janney as Perry’s pill-popping boss and Andrea Anders (Joey) as Perry’s former — and future? — romantic interest.
While the arena setting provides opportunity for a variety of hot guest stars — including Nick Jonas — don’t expect Perry’s former Friends to drop by, at least for now. “I wanted to convey the message that this is a new thing,” he says. “But if the show goes on for a while, I would love that.”

Mr. Sunshine sort of sounds like Chandler with a different job and new friends, but since Chandler was pretty funny, this may work. Mr. Sunshine premieres Wednesday, February 9 at 9:30PM on ABC.
Matt Leblanc is on a cable comedy called Episodes.
Matt Leblanc spent 12 years in Joey Tribbiani’s shoes — first on the classic comedy Friends, then on its not-so-classic spin-off, Joey. But on January 9, the three-time Emmy nominee returns to TV in Showtime’s Episodes as someone he’s even more familiar with…Matt Leblanc. Or at least a spoiled, morally bankrupt (and, ahem, very well-endowed) version of the actor, dreamed up for the biting Hollywood satire by cocreator (and former Friends producer) David Crane and his partner Jeffrey Klarik. LeBlanc [is] now 43 and father to 6-year-old Marina.
How did Episodes happen?
After Friends, David and I kept in touch, and about two years ago, he and Jeffrey called me up and said, “What are you doing?” I said, “Just being a dad — and spending some of that Friends money.” They were like, “We have an idea. Let’s get together for lunch.” I said, “Great.” But I really wasn’t looking to do anything.
Why not?
When Joey ended [in 2006], it was a weird time in my life. I’d gotten divorced, and my daughter had been diagnosed with this weird brain thing [a disorder that caused seizures]. Now she’s out of the woods with all that stuff. But it was a really stressful time.
Now your hair is a distinguished gray.
I started going gray very young, and I started dyeing my hair during Friends. But after taking five years off, I was like, “What’s the point?”
Unlike the Matt in the show, you don’t…what?
Leave my phone on in a meeting. The only time I’d [do that] is if there was something important pending with a family member. I don’t have my own jet. I would love to, but I don’t. And I’ll set the record straight: I have a perfectly human-proportioned penis. [The character] is less who I am and more the public’s perception of celebrity. That’s the guy we tried to write.
There continue to be rumors of a Friends reunion. Do you want it to happen?
No. I’d rather have a party and have everybody [from the cast] there. Friends was this magical, cool thing, like lightning in a bottle, and I feel superfortunate to have been a part of it. But I can’t see [a reunion] not feeling gratuitous. What would the story be? We all get together and what? Have coffee? It would be almost sad. It’s better to just imagine what those characters are doing now, because then it can be whatever you want it to be.

Matt has let himself go grey for this role, and it will be interesting to see him as someone other than Joey. The show is getting pretty decent reviews. Entertainment Weekly called LeBlanc “superb.”
I wish they would have asked LeBlanc if any of the Friends actors will be appearing on Episodes, like they did with Matt Perry. Episodes sounds like a good fit for Schwimmer or Kudrow to make a guest spot, playing themselves.

When I first saw this story in the NY Daily News I thought it was just one of those “insider” tales and found it rather sweet. Like two BFFs bonding over the holidays when one is newly separated. Then I realized that the story originated in People Magazine, which makes me suspicious. Like it probably happened, but why did they have to go and tell People? When someone wants me to go “aww” I’m more likely to squint my eyes and try and figure out their motivation. (Unless a baby animal is involved.) Anyway here’s People’s story about Jen and Court’s Very Special Christmas with Coco.
Christmas Eve was all about girl time for Courteney Cox: She spent Dec. 24 quietly celebrating with daughter CoCo and her BFF Jennifer Aniston.
“Both Jen and Courteney are tired after a long year,” a source close to Cox tells PEOPLE. “They celebrated Christmas [with] each other and just focused on making things special for Coco.”
Cox, 46, and her husband, David Arquette, who separated earlier this year, also made an effort to give Coco, 6, a merry Christmas, putting in some time as a family over the holidays.
While the source says Cox and Arquette, 39, are getting along well, he is finding the separation difficult.
“He’s just not handling this situation well,” says another source. “He’s really depressed. There was a moment when David thought they’d get back together but that doesn’t seem like it will happen now and it’s really tough on David.”
Even so, at this point the pair have no imminent plans to divorce, says the source.

So does that Stephen Huvane PR guy rep Courteney Cox too? From what I can find, he doesn’t but maybe he’s “helping” Courteney out by including some information about how devastated poor David Arquette is now that Courteney is f*cking her coworker.
Oh now I know why they’re coming out with this story! E!’s Mark Malkin just reported that Courteney Cox and her rumored lover Brian Von Holt were inseparable at a Christmas party for their show, “Cougar Town.” They were also rumored to be planning a romantic holiday getaway that doesn’t seem to have happened (yet). Instead, Courteney and Jen want us to know that they spent the holidays bonding and that David Arquette is in a bad way. It has nothing to do with Courteney and her new boyfriend, of course. He’s not mentioned at all.

These are photos of Courteney Cox and her daughter CoCo on Christmas Eve, in West Hollywood. So? I guess she didn?t fly to Cabo with Brian Van Holt after all?? Well, the signals are definitely mixed. In these photos, Cox is wearing her wedding ring, apparently for the first time in months. Also, Court brought CoCo as her ?date? for a Christmas Eve party. However, according to E! News? Marc Malkin, Cox and Van Holt were definitely couple-y the night before at yet another Christmas party:

A source tells me that they didn’t show any outward signs of being more than just friends, but “Courteney and Brian pretty much stuck together the majority of the evening.”
Cox watched Van Holt play costar Josh Hopkins in air-hockey. Then Van Holt cheered Cox on during her game against Hopkins.
The three-hour bash took place on the Cougar Town soundstage and featured Bacardi drinks, a snow cone machine and In N’ Out and Border Grill food trucks.
Cox’s estranged hubby, David Arquette, has said he believes she and Van Holt have been having an “emotional affair.”
“There definitely wasn’t any hand-holding or kissing,” the partygoing source said. “But they did stay and stand together for most of the party.”

Yeah, I think Courteney is manipulating the situation, biding her time until she and Van Holt ?come out? as an official couple. David Arquette is gumming up the works however, by being so obviously devastated with their split. If only he wasn?t so obviously up for reconciliation, Courteney could have thrown him under the proverbial bus and already ?rolled out? her new relationship. Just my opinion.
Also my opinion? Courteney stayed in town because she had some last-minute Christmas plastic surgery. Look at that face and tell me she?s aging naturally.

Spending her first holiday season apart from ex David Arquette, Courteney Cox was spotted arriving at a private holiday party in West Hollywood, California on Friday evening (December 24).
With her adorable daughter CoCo Arquette by her side, the former "Friends" star joined a group of loved ones for the nighttime Christmas Eve fete.
As for her relationship status, Miss Cox pulled the plug on her 11-year marriage to Arquette back in October of this year.
In their official announcement, the pair told, "The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage."
Since that time, David has been making the most of bachelor hood with booze-infused getaways to places including Las Vegas and Miami.
Meanwhile, Courteney has been rumored to be getting cozy with "Cougar Town" co-star Brian Van Holt - though the two are said to be "taking things very slowly."

It?s no secret (to me) that Courteney Cox and David Arquette?s marriage ended around the same time that Courteney began boning her Cougar Town costar, Brian Van Holt. There were rumors about Brian and Court last spring, and while David Arquette seems to be the one willing to take the blame for the failure of the marriage, Courteney hasn?t said one thing about her relationship with Van Holt, which I think is on-going, and has been for most of this year (at least). Now Star Magazine is reporting that Courteney and Brian are planning on spending the holidays together? with Cox and Arquette?s daughter Coco. Leaving David alone for the holidays. Damn, bitch. That?s harsh.
It?s Courteney Cox?s first Christmas without her estranged spouse of 11 years, David Arquette. But she?s not staying at home stewing.
Instead, Courteney and her beau and costar Brian Van Holt are planning a cozy getaway, likely in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, or Hawaii, joined by her daughter Coco, and a nanny.
While David is heartbroken his family will be away for the holidays, ?Courteney needs this badly,? says a friend. ?She intends to make this an amazing time with Brian.?
One way she?s insuring that the trip is extra special? by stocking up on $5,000 worth of lingerie at La Perla!
?She says that Brian makes her feel wonderfully free and sexy,? says another source. ?Courteney is having a blast for a change.?

If this is true (why not?), then Courteney is an even bigger jackass than I thought. David has been a complete mess since their split, and although he tried to take it back later, I do think he?s probably had some kind of nervous breakdown. And she?s going to leave him alone on Christmas? Not even let him see his daughter? All because she wants to have some holiday dong in a warm climate. Ugh. Of course, my ?that?s nasty? opinion could come from me not find Brian Van Holt attractive in the least. He seems like a dumb meathead who would taste like cheap beer and Funions.

There?s always been a huge interest in celebrity romances, but Courteney Cox and Brian Van Holt are content to leave things up in the air.
The ?Cougar Town? costars hit up their show?s holiday party this week, though they weren?t showing any public displays of affection.
An eyewitness told press, ?Courteney and Brian pretty much stuck together the majority of the evening,? though they didn?t look like they were more than friends.
The source continued, "There definitely wasn't any hand-holding or kissing. But they did stay and stand together for most of the party."

Seemingly enjoying her single status, Courteney Cox joined up with gal pal Nia Vardalos for a night on the town on Friday (November 19).
The "Cougar Town" star and her actress friend ventured over to Kitson boutique to attend a fashionable charity event.
Still unwilling to give up on her troubled marriage with David Arquette, Cox donned a small band on her ring finger to go with her OminPeace t-shirt.
As for her hopes of reconciling with Arquette at some point, Courteney recently told TV Week magazine, "I don't know what will happen, but this is not like we're getting divorced. This is a separation and I think that takes a lot of courage. Whatever is supposed to happen will be the best thing for us."

Fame Pictures claims Courteney Cox and Brian Van Holt are ?filming? in these photos. Do you see any cameras? I don?t. Granted, they?re probably on a break from filming Cougar Town, but I suspect that there?s another reason for these photos. First, Courteney has allegedly been boning Brian for months - tabloids were reporting their alleged affair months before Courteney and David Arquette announced their split. When Court & David actually split though, is up for grabs - and it?s totally possible that Cox and van Holt began having a sexual/romantic/emotional relationship AFTER Courteney and David had decided to try a trial separation. Of course, I?m of the opinion that Brian Van Holt is the reason for the trail separation in the first place. Arquette?s opinion? That Courteney and Brian had an ?emotional affair?. Yeah? that?s what they were doing at a hotel. Having an emotional affair.
Even though Courteney seems to be publicly denying that she and David are going to divorce, I?ve been wondering for a while if Van Holt isn?t going to end up The New Ex Mr. Cox, you know? How would it look if Courteney began rolling out a new relationship? It would look like this. It would be comfortable-looking photos of two costars talking and bonding, and then in a few months, they walk a red carpet together? maybe for the Golden Globes? And then an brief interview, confirming that they are, in fact, dating. Et cetera.
By the by? this week, Star Magazine (via Jezebel) is reporting that ?Courteney and David Arquette broke up because he was drinking too much; she got sick of seeing him sloshed. She won’t take him back unless he goes to rehab. This story is accompanied by three pictures of David drunk and partying; in two out of three images, little people are involved. In the third, David is carrying a bottle of champagne through the streets.? Honestly, I?m worried about David?s partying too, but I don?t think his partying was the CAUSE of the split with Cox, I think it was the RESULT of the split.

Toting around a bottle of gal pal Jennifer Aniston's SmartWater to keep hydrated, the former "Friends" star was in a cheerful mood despite her recent marital woes.
Speaking of which, Miss Cox's "Cougar Town" costar Ryan Devlin recently spoke with Radar Online on how impressed he is over how well Courteney is handling her split from David Arquette.
Devlin told, ?Obviously in this business when you have to go through personal things like this, it?s the toughest thing. Courteney is amazing woman and very talented. She will get through this in no time."
He continued, ?When you have to go through something like that in public there are a couple of different ways to handle it. And she?s handled it, I think, with such grace, courage and strength. Honestly, I wish her the best. She?s such a great person.?

In lieu of her current marriage hiccup, Courteney Cox stepped out over the weekend and seemed to be in great spirits.
Still sporting her wedding ring, the ?Cougar Town? actress looked fabulous as she arrived at a Los Angeles hotel for a "Cougar Town" press junket.
Meanwhile, Courteney recently opened up about her recent separation from husband David Arquette, revealing that best friend Jennifer Aniston has been ?amazing? to her during the turmoil.
?We just have fun, we laugh, we're inseparable and it's great. It's funny, a lot of really close friends are kind of going through this right now or like Jennifer [who] has gone through it. I don't know what's going on in the planets or what, but things are being shaken up and I don't know what's going to happen, but, yeah, Jennifer has been amazing for sure."
