Christina Aguilera?s status has been set at ?Hot Mess? for so long, I?ve kind of forgotten whether she ever really had it together. The SuperBowl debacle was just the latest in a line of Xtina?s embarrassments and failures, although to give her credit, I believe flubbing the lyrics to the National Anthem was probably her most-watched and most-discussed debacle yet. So, of course, Christina is going to try to top it. Did you know that she?s performing at the Grammys? Ugh. She?s part of the tribute to Aretha Franklin, so I guess the new lyrics will be ?R-E-S-P-think what doing to me!?
Christina Aguilera will try to shake off her disastrous Super Bowl performance with a tribute to Aretha Franklin at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards. Sources close to the singer tell me she’s still shaken up by her “Star-Mangled Banner” moment and prays this performance will offer her a chance at redemption with fans.
“This is a huge night for Christina so she’s leaving nothing to chance,” an insider tells me. “All the lyrics to her number will be in a TelePrompter at the event so it will be almost impossible for her to mess up again.”
We all know the girl can hit the right notes (what a voice!), but it’s good to know she’s got a safety net for a little thing called lyrics.
Since her Super Bowl performance, Christina has come under fire from critics suggesting she has been spiraling out of control since she announced her divorce, and there were even some vicious reports that she might have had a few too many drinks before the big game. (Others still have suggested Xtina has been out of sorts since her last studio album, ‘Bionic,’ failed to sell.)
But as one of her biggest hits makes perfectly clear, Christina is a true “fighter” and will no doubt rebound from this setback.
“You would be a fool to count Christina out,” a friend of the singer’s tells me. “She has been down before and always found her way back. Sure, she’s going through a lot and yes she is terrified, but mark my words, on Sunday when she opens the Grammys, no one will be talking about the Super Bowl anymore. This girl is in the to win it.”
Ronn D. Torossian, president & CEO of 5W Public Relations, agrees, telling me, “Christina will recover, this was a mistake, not blatant disrespect. While this was a very high profile flub, in the annals of her career this will be seen as a footnote and not as the headline. This too shall pass, and she will absolutely recover.”
After all, everyone is rooting for her. Jared Shapiro, executive editor of Life & Style, says, “‘Burlesque,’ the Super Bowl and Grammys — if this is a down year, I can’t wait to see her comeback!”

Well, of course formal business types are supporting her. She threatens to fire anyone who suggests that she?s a hot mess. When will someone just say to her, ?Christina, chica, wash those layers of pancake makeup off your face, take off that tacky wig and let?s talk about your drug and alcohol abuse problem. You have issues.? Oh, but here?s something: if (and when) she messes up one of Aretha?s songs, Aretha will probably whip her ass.

As we already saw this morning, Christina Aguilera was a hot mess at the SuperBowl. I feel like I?m having a Jeff Foxworthy moment (pardon me for this, I live in Redneckville): You know you?re a mess when you screw up the National Anthem at the SuperBowl. You know you?re a mess when you pass out on Jeremy Renner?s bed in the middle of an A-list party. You know you?re a mess when you?re compared to Britney Spears, and Britney comes out ahead. You know you?re a mess when you?re constantly drunk off your ass, all the time. Anyhoodle, Page Six has a piece this morning about Christina needing help, but refusing all offers:
Christina Aguilera, who sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl yesterday, has rejected pleas from her staff to get help after she drunkenly passed out on a bed at a Hollywood party.
The pop idol stumbled into “The Hurt Locker” star Jeremy Renner’s 40th birthday bash last month and was spotted lying on a bed before she was helped out of the party by her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler.
In the wake of her divorce from Jason Bratman and box-office bust “Burlesque,” sources tell us Aguilera has been acting erratically, and her staff banded together with a plan to persuade her to get some help. But when Aguilera caught wind of their plan, she threatened to fire all of them for even suggesting that she has a problem, a source told Page Six.
“They wanted to talk to her carefully about the issue, but they’re not going to because they are scared after she threatened to fire them,” a source close to Aguilera’s camp told us. ?Her people desperately want this to come out so she will get help.”
However, a different source said the story that Aguilera needs help was being spread by a fired and disgruntled former staffer, and that in fact, she’s just dealing with a tough time in her life.
Aguilera has a history of axing her staff. After giving birth to her son, Max, in 2008, she reportedly threw a tantrum and fired her day-to-day manager, one of her assistants and her publicity firm BWR because she was displeased with a photo spread of her baby that ran in People magazine.
On the heels of her Super Bowl appearance, Aguilera plans to perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. A rep for the singer, asked about her recent behavior and her staff’s reaction to it, said, “No comment.”

Ha, I had forgotten that Christina has a history of being a temperamental bitch with her staff. That?s so funny that people got fired over her People Magazine cover - I remember that cover too. It was awful - Christina was wearing a mountain of makeup, and it all just looked so cheesy and unnatural. Ooh? here it is! Look at her nose! So? she?s had a nose job since then, right?
Anyway, Christina is a mess. And she?s going to continue to be a mess until someone steps in and gives her a series of hard truths.
UPDATE: But no one is speaking the truth yet. Christina just released a statement about the National Anthem flub. She says: “I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.” What did ou expect her to say? “I was so drunk, I don’t even remember messing up the line”?

She slipped up on the words to the National Anthem at last night?s Super Bowl, and Christina Aguilera says it was a case of the nerves.
In a statement to press, the ?Ain?t No Other Man? divorcee explained that she was overwhelmed by the whole gig.
?I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.?
Nevertheless, Christina nailed the rest of the song, and then the Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Soaking up the national spotlight, Christina Aguilera was front and center at Super Bowl XLV in Dallas, TX on Sunday (February 6).
The "Burlesque" beauty was joined by boyfriend Matthew Rutler as she preceded kickoff while giving the Cowboys Stadium crowd a stirring rendition of the National Anthem.
Miss Aguilera joined a lineup of star performers including Lea Michele and halftime show leaders The Black Eyed Peas, Usher and Slash.
The Super Bowl stop comes as Christina is just returned to the States following a visit to Brazil for Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

She might have filed for divorce from him back in October, but Christina Aguilera and ex-husband Jordan Bratman are still living together in the same house. With her new boyfriend. And the kid. No, that’s not weird at all. Nine MSN says:
Jordan Bratman is still living under the same roof as his wife of five years… and now her new fella Matthew Rutler has moved in.
?It?s gotten really awkward,? a friend of Christina’s tells the mag. ?Jordan won?t leave the house!?
The singer is so upset that she broke down recently while knocking back vodka sodas with friends at an LA club.
?She was drinking and crying uncontrollably, talking about Jordan and the house,? said a witness. ?She was working herself into more and more of a state.?
Sorry, but everything’s better in threes. Blind mice, wise men, fifths compromises — you name it. That’s why there’s three bottles of Jack within arm’s reach of me at all times. That it also happens to be the number of nipples I have is just a happy coincidence.

Here’s an amusing story from the print edition of US Weekly about how Christina Aguilera’s estranged husband, Jordan Bratman, is staying put in the couple’s mansion and refusing to move out. Christina announced her separation from Jordan in mid October of last year. She took up with her new boyfriend, a set assistant she met while filming Burlesque (while she was still married) a hot minute later. We heard in late October that Christina was staying in hotels because Bratman wouldn’t move out of their home, presumably because he wanted to be near their son Max, three. Fast forward three months later and Bratman is still at their family home, while Christina has moved her new boyfriend in to help her stagger to bed after their drunken nights out. I’m pretty sure that Christina still lives in the mansion that was shown on The Osbournes, as she purchased it from the family in 2007. That’s a big house but I don’t think it has two kitchens or anything.
A source tells Hot Stuff [US Weekly] that [Christina Aguilera], 30, and new boyfriend Matthew Rutler, 25, are living under the same roof with her ex, Jordan Bratman - because he refuses to move out! “It’s gotten really awkward,” the Aguilera pal says of life at the $11.5 million Beverly Hills mansion, where the exes look after their son, Max, 3. “Jordan won’t leave the house!” The singer is so distraught that she broke down while knocking back vodka sodas and venting about the situation at L.A.’s the Dime nightclub January 25. “She was drinking and crying uncontrollably, talking about Jordan and the house,” says a witness. “She was working herself into more and more of a state.” Adds another insider, “She strong and wants to be there for Max. But all this is very stressful for her.”

Poor Christina. She cheated on her husband, moved her jump off into the house, and now her husband won’t leave! What’s a drunk rich girl to do? I know, she could sell the house (probably at a loss) and downsize - if the house is in her name, that is. There are probably some complicated legal issues that are keeping her from being able to kick Jordan out. She could rent another place nearby and move there with her son. I don’t know whose side I’m on in this whole mess, but I’m inclined to have some grudging respect for Bratman for staying put. (There are rumors that he abused Christina, and if that’s true it’s despicable. Sources say that never happened though.)

Making a quick trip overseas, Christina Aguilera was busy doing her thing at Sao Paulo Fashion Week Winter 2011 in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday night (February 1).
Showing off her ample upper half, the "Burlesque" babe hit up Ibirapuera's Bienal Pavilion to help launch a special clothing brand for department store C&A during the fifth day of the annual South American event.
Soon headed back to the States, Miss Aguilera is slated to perform the National Anthem prior to kickoff between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers at Super Bowl XLV on Sunday, February 6th.
Other star performers include "Glee" darling Lea Michele for a rendition of "America the Beautiful" while the Black Eyed Peas are slated to tend to halftime show efforts.

Venturing off to prepare for next weekend's festivities, Christina Aguilera and her boyfriend Matthew Rutler were spotted catching a flight at LAX airport in Los Angeles on Saturday (January 29).
The "Burlesque" beauty and her man were touchy-feely as they passed through the metro terminal en route to Dallas, Texas for Super Bowl XLV.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, Miss Aguilera has been booked to perform the National Anthem prior to kickoff between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers.
Other star performers include "Glee" darling Lea Michele for a rendition of "America the Beautiful" while the Black Eyed Peas are slated to tend to halftime show efforts.

Confirming previous rumors, Christina Aguilera has officially been announced as singer of the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLV.
The "Burlesque" beauty will be belting out the Star Spangled Banner before kickoff between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers at Cowboys Stadium.
With the decision being made public by FOX and the NFL on Monday (January 24), Aguilera said in a statement, "I have been performing the anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true."
She added, I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event."
Meanwhile, the Black Eyed Peas were previously announced as being chosen for halftime performance duties.
