Yesterday, I covered the early excerpts from Star Magazine?s Christina Aguilera cover story this week, all about Christina ?hitting rock bottom? with her boozing and diva antics. As I read through Jezebel?s tabloid round-up, it seems like most tabloids have ?Christina is a drunken hot mess? stories happening. So? either it?s all true or this is a series case of tabloid group-think. Here are some of the highlights from the stories:
Life & Style - The Christina Aguilera “Refuses To Get Help” story here begins: “Looking at the concerned faces of those nearest and dearest to her, Christina Aguilera could feel her anger growing. As one of them began to tell the singer that they wanted to talk to her about her drinking and partying, she snapped, ‘This isn’t happening ? and if it is, you’re all fired.” Basically, Christina’s peeps want her to get help (sure sounds like an intervention) but their jobs are on the line.
ITW - Christina Aguilera’s been drinking alone, pouring herself a glass of wine or a shot of vodka whenever she knows she has to go out in public. “It’s the only way she can get herself ready to be in a good mood,” says a source. Someone else claims she has mood swings and a severe drinking problem, and the booze contributed to the end of her marriage. She ALLEGEDLY used to scream at husband Jordan: “I make all the money. I’m the star of this family! What do you do?” And! “The real Christina is mean, nasty and horrible,” says an insider.
Star - Christina Aguilera has “lost her confidence” since she split from Jordan Bratman, and “She gets terribly sad,” and “all the awful memories” come flooding back. So! “She ends up numbing herself with booze and food.” She’s “in denial” and “seriously depressed,” says a “friend.” And, when she’s hungover, she “devours pizza, french fries, and other fattening foods,” which is just SO WEIRD AND UNUSUAL. A doctor who does not treat her claims: “She looks about 40 lbs. overweight.”

At this point, I really do tend to believe all of the horrible stories about Christina. Of course, I believed them before her booze-soaked downward spiral. I believed the junk about her picking up women at bars while married, I believed that she cheated on Jordan repeatedly, and I believed that she?s probably a monster to work for and with. The boozing just enhances and accentuates all of the old stories, and gives them a new flavor. And the kicker is that Christina isn?t going to be getting help any time soon. She and her team have already started blaming Matthew Rutler for being a ?bad influence? on poor little Christina, so once he?s out the door, she?s still going to keep on with the badness.

I don?t know what to make of this news. I think what it boils down to is Christina Aguilera = The New and Drunker/More Medicated Paula Abdul. Christina got herself a job, just days after being arrested for being so bombed she couldn?t even remember her address, much less stand upright. Christina got a gig as a ?musician coach? on the new American-Idol-esque competition show, The Voice. Chrsitina joins Cee Lo Green (oh, GOD) and Adam Levine (douche with a pretty voice).
Christina Aguilera is putting that voice to good use. The Grammy winner has just been named as a musician coach on NBC’s new musical competition series The Voice, which premiers April 26.
“I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it,” Aguilera, who joins coaches Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, said of the role. “To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms.”
NBC executives say the singer’s talent was what caught their eye. “Christina has a once in a generation talent ? her voice is phenomenally distinctive and instantly recognizable,” Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios said of the appointment. “Her journey as an artist, who started so young in the music business, will be an inspiration to the talent she coaches on the show.”
The news comes on the heels of a challenging week for the singer. She was jailed by police for public intoxication early Tuesday morning before later being released, while her boyfriend, Matt Rutler, was also arrested for investigation of DUI.

I?m seeing buckets of drag queen makeup, mixed with a prerequisite two bottles of Jack Daniels before she makes her way to ?coach? the contestants. And once there, she falls down a lot and somebody (Adam Levine) gets called a ?whore.? Because she?s a boozehound monster, and everybody is enabling her drunk ass.

Okay, here is what is good about Christina Aguilera?s arrest for public intoxication: she wasn?t driving. Bitch just likes to get her drink on, and then she just gets driven places. Unfortunately, her driver/handler/boyfriend Matthew Rutler was drunk as well - probably because he was trying to keep up with Christina?s boozehound ass. So when they were pulled over, Rutler got booked for DUI, and Christina was taken in for public intoxication. Now, some of you said that you really have to be completely wasted to get a charge of public intoxication - is that how it is in California? Because in Virginia, you can get a public intoxication charge at the drop of a hat. I know people who have public intoxication charges because they had one or two drinks at a bar and then walked home, where they were stopped by a cop and arrested. Anyway, different rules, I guess.
So Christina was just released from the pokey, where it seems that cops were just waiting until she sobered up. TMZ has a photo of Christina hunched down in the backseat of her chauffeured car here. And now the sheriff?s department is saying that they?re probably not going to pursue the public intoxication charge, that it was just a placeholder until Drunky McClownFace sobered up:

The singer was released from custody at the West Hollywood sheriff’s station at about 7:30 a.m., according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore.
“We have no desire to prosecute, none whatsoever. It just for a public safety issue,” says Whitmore. “When she was able to navigate and to think on her own and make her own way, she was released.”
Aguilera, 30, was a passenger in a car driven by boyfriend Matthew Rutler that was pulled over at 2:45 a.m. when deputies noticed the vehicle driving erratically. Both were booked, Aguilera for public intoxication, Rutler for DUI.
“She was not capable to taking care of herself. She was incapacitated,” says Whitmore. “She was cooperative. She was not belligerent in any way whatsoever. She was just intoxicated.”
By law, a person can be held in custody if they cannot take care of themselves, he says.
“As she got better, she just said, ‘I would like to leave,’” says Whitmore, and deputies granted her request.
Aguilera’s reps were not immediately available for comment.

Was this Christina?s wakeup call? I doubt it. There?s still a ways to go until Rock Bottom. I bet when Christina?s team brings up rehab today, Christina will fire all of them.
Also - just how drunk do you have to be for the cops to deem you ?incapacitated?? Well, at least she wasn?t yelling at the cops and calling them all whores. Like she did with her brother?s girlfriend.
Oh, and I bet the boyfriend gets dumped too. That?s next. She?ll blame him and call him a bad influence.

Christina Aguilera was arrested for public intoxication early this morning and jailed “for her own safety” after her boyfriend was pulled over for DUI. People Magazine says:
Aguilera, 30, was a passenger in a car driven by boyfriend Matthew Rutler that was pulled over at 2:45 a.m. when deputies noticed the vehicle driving erratically. Both were booked, Aguilera for public intoxication, Rutler for DUI.
“She was not capable of taking care of herself. She was incapacitated,” said the spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’sDepartment. “It was a public safety issue. When she was able to think on her own, she was released.”
“Able to think on her own” is police talk for “sober enough to clean herself up.” There’s no convincing a cop you’re straight when you’re sitting in a pantload of your own filth. Trust me, they won’t even talk to you until you’ve wiped most of the vomit out of your hair.

TMZ just reported that Christina Aguilera was arrested and booked at 2:45 AM this morning in West Hollywood for misdemeanor public intoxication after her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler, was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. Her height is listed as 5? 2? with a weight of 100 pounds. This is just the latest setback for Christina. She’s been behaving erratically lately (she fell on stage at the Grammys, fudged the words to the National Anthem at the Superbowl) and has been drunk in public on several occasions. US Weekly just ran a story about how Christina is a drunken out-of-control mess. Her people reportedly tried to stage an intervention but she threatened to fire everyone. Here’s some of what Kaiser reported from the US Story:

*After the SuperBowl, Christina stayed in Dallas for two days. ?She drank and was devastated by her humiliating performance.?

If she knows she is leaving town, she will take him on some big outing, like Disneyland, because she feels guilty. Jordan is much more stable.?
*Sources credit Jordan Bratman for keeping Christina under control for so long. A source says, ?She was still a huge drinker, but he kept her under control so people didn?t know how bad it was.?
*An insider says Christina and [her boyfriend] Rutler had sex in a bathroom at a recent family gathering: ?Her friends are fed up. Nobody can get through to her. They think she?s trashy. And her ego is out of control.?
*Christina?s main source of income: her perfume lines. Not her albums, not her tours, not her acting.
*Differing views about what?s next for Christina. A Rutler source says ?I think she?s just going through a phase, we?ve all been through a breakup where we went crazy.? A source close to Christina says: ?She?s really spiraling. I would be shocked if she?s not in rehab in the next month or so.?

Will this be a wakeup call for Christina or will she continue to deny that she has a problem? She might reign it in for a little while, but since she wasn’t the one who got a DUI I can’t see her making any lasting changes. Also, I’m really interested to see her mugshot. According to a report, the ?Ain?t No Other Man? songstress and her new beau can?t seem to keep their sex life private, and ended up getting busy in a bathroom at a family gathering.
An inside source told press Christina is in danger of going off the deep end. ?Her friends are fed up. Nobody can get through to her. They think she?s trashy. And her ego is out of control.?

Christina Aguilera spent the last week being soundly criticized for flubbing the lyrics to the National Anthem at the SuperBowl. The whole incident created a national conversation: should Christina use a Teleprompter at all times? Should her drunk ass go to rehab? Should she fire all of her management for suggesting that she?s a hot mess? Should Christina be uninvited from the Grammys? Well, Xtina didn?t cancel, and she performed at last night?s Grammys, during the tribute to Aretha Franklin. First off: she didn?t flub any of the lyrics, although many are suggesting that she had some miscues and was ?unintelligible? - meaning that maybe she didn?t get the lyrics right, but no one could tell because she was drunk. It?s no secret that Aretha Franklin has made a massive mark on pop music, and at tonight?s Grammy Awards some of the hottest female vocalists in the industry paid tribute in a musical medley.
Redeeming her Super Bowl fumble, Christina Aguilera was featured with her own solo to kick things off.
Martina McBride also showed off her silky smooth vocal stylings, looking sexy in a shimmery black dress.
Next, Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine took over, followed by a svelte Jennifer Hudson. Rounding things out, Yolanda Adams showed her impressive low-to-high vocal range.

Christina Aguilera?s status has been set at ?Hot Mess? for so long, I?ve kind of forgotten whether she ever really had it together. The SuperBowl debacle was just the latest in a line of Xtina?s embarrassments and failures, although to give her credit, I believe flubbing the lyrics to the National Anthem was probably her most-watched and most-discussed debacle yet. So, of course, Christina is going to try to top it. Did you know that she?s performing at the Grammys? Ugh. She?s part of the tribute to Aretha Franklin, so I guess the new lyrics will be ?R-E-S-P-think what doing to me!?
Christina Aguilera will try to shake off her disastrous Super Bowl performance with a tribute to Aretha Franklin at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards. Sources close to the singer tell me she’s still shaken up by her “Star-Mangled Banner” moment and prays this performance will offer her a chance at redemption with fans.
“This is a huge night for Christina so she’s leaving nothing to chance,” an insider tells me. “All the lyrics to her number will be in a TelePrompter at the event so it will be almost impossible for her to mess up again.”
We all know the girl can hit the right notes (what a voice!), but it’s good to know she’s got a safety net for a little thing called lyrics.
Since her Super Bowl performance, Christina has come under fire from critics suggesting she has been spiraling out of control since she announced her divorce, and there were even some vicious reports that she might have had a few too many drinks before the big game. (Others still have suggested Xtina has been out of sorts since her last studio album, ‘Bionic,’ failed to sell.)
But as one of her biggest hits makes perfectly clear, Christina is a true “fighter” and will no doubt rebound from this setback.
“You would be a fool to count Christina out,” a friend of the singer’s tells me. “She has been down before and always found her way back. Sure, she’s going through a lot and yes she is terrified, but mark my words, on Sunday when she opens the Grammys, no one will be talking about the Super Bowl anymore. This girl is in the to win it.”
Ronn D. Torossian, president & CEO of 5W Public Relations, agrees, telling me, “Christina will recover, this was a mistake, not blatant disrespect. While this was a very high profile flub, in the annals of her career this will be seen as a footnote and not as the headline. This too shall pass, and she will absolutely recover.”
After all, everyone is rooting for her. Jared Shapiro, executive editor of Life & Style, says, “‘Burlesque,’ the Super Bowl and Grammys — if this is a down year, I can’t wait to see her comeback!”

When will someone just say to her, ?Christina, chica, wash those layers of pancake makeup off your face, take off that tacky wig and let?s talk about your drug and alcohol abuse problem.
