Sofia Vergara has a featurette in the April issue of Vogue (The Shape Issue, with Michelle Obama on the cover), and I can?t say I?m wild about the one photo Vogue has released. Is this racist? I can?t decide if it?s racist, sexist or just stupid to have the most successful Latin actress in America relegated to the kitchen for her photoshoot. On one hand, they put in her a sexy gown. On the other hand, the subtext (or just the ?context?) seems to be ?Hispanics = kitchen workers?. Perhaps this concept wasn?t as offensive as their first choice, accessorizing Sofia with a bunch of white babies while she models ?nanny chic?. Anyway, you can read Sofia?s interview here ? she?s funny and interesting and she seems like a good sport about her fame. Some highlights:
She?s freezing her eggs: ?you have to put first some peels, and then after??? What kind of peels, pray? ?Hormone pills,? she says, ?and then after that it is hormone injections.? Aww, does she have to have all those hormones tucked into her? She says yes; at her age, ?they want to get as many eggs as they can because usually you produce them but they?re not good. They have to be perfect, perfect, perfect ones. My boyfriend is 37, younger than me, never had kids. So.?
Her giant engagement ring: Her engagement ring is a square diamond as big as the Ritz (with a triangular diamond shoulder on either side). It takes up the whole bottom joint of her ring finger. ?I love it,? she says, ?because it?s big enough. If it had been bigger, I couldn?t have worn it every day.? She laughs. ?And if it had been smaller, I wouldn?t have liked it. It?s heavy, but I don?t take it off even to work out.?
Her accent: She has struggled with her heavily accented English, she laments. When she moved to L.A., she decided to take ?accent classes, you know? Like speech classes? To see if I can fix it a little bit. But I spent so much money, so much time, and then when I would go to auditions I was always thinking about the pronunciation because you are supposed to put the tongue like this or?you know?like this, so then I would forget to act, and I was not getting any jobs, because all I wanted was to say the words right. And then one day I said, You know what? That?s it. If I can?t get a job with my accent, then this is not a job for me.?
Getting clothes tailored: ?The key for my body is tailoring,? she says emphatically. ?I spend more money on tweaking and fixing the clothes than the actual clothes. So I have to go to the tailor, and he would sew a seam in a little bit because my size is difficult. It?s not that it?s bad, I am not complaining?it?s just that once you know how to tweak it, you look like you are well dressed. For example, jeans that go all the way up here. So I tell the guy, OK, you know what needs to be done; I don?t even have to try them anymore. He knows to do it so when I sit the jean doesn?t go all the way down. It?s just learning what you have to do. Not for something simple like a T-shirt, but for a piece that I like, I always have to have it altered.?
Her boobs: ?I mean, a normal girl will just put the dress on and leave. I need them to be like an armory. My dresses are like a work of art inside because, you know, I am 40 years old, I had a baby, and I am a 32F boob. And they are real still. When they are fake, you take the bra off and they are still there, perfect! Me?no, so I have to bring them up! I have to build the dresses up to here so that the bras?ach, it?s a whole, der?ugh?tchah!?
Actress and businesswoman: She says that ?all the things that I dreamed in my career to do, all the businesses that I have, like my Kmart collection, like all the endorsements that I have [for Diet Pepsi and CoverGirl] and you know all the charities that I wanted to fund?it?s all because of Modern Family. So I am taking advantage while I can, to make money like I can now, because why not? It?s part of my job, doing what I like. I never wanted to be an actress [just] to be an actress. I wanted to be an actress or a celebrity with a business. For me, I never even knew I could be funny or act.? She laughs. ?I went to dentist school.?

As always, I sympathize with the big-boob thing. I went shopping this weekend and I just wanted to get in and out of the stores, so I didn?t try anything on. While everything that I got technically fits me, I got too many blouses that fit me in the bust but need to be taken in through the waist. Ugh. During the interview, Sofia also talked about growing up in Colombia and how she was always flying to Miami when she was younger, and how much she loves Scarface ? to the point where she named her son after Steven Bauer?s drug dealer character. Also, I kind of like how open she?s being with her plans to have a baby ? reportedly, she and Nick Loeb are having a baby via surrogacy.

Taking care of some career affairs, Sofia Vergara hailed a taxi and headed off to a business meeting in New York City this morning (March 18).
The curvaceous Columbian babe looked a bit cranky as she hopped out of the cab and scurried into a nearby office building toting her massive black Chanel handbag.
In a recent interview with Vogue, Sofia lamented the mixed blessing of having such a pronounced hourglass figure.
"I mean, a normal girl will just put the dress on and leave. I need them to be like an armory. My dresses are like a work of art inside because, you know, I am 40 years old, I had a baby, and I am a 32F boob."

While Jennifer Love Hewitt is considering freezing her eggs, Sofia Vergara is actually doing it. Talking to Vogue for their April Shape Issue, Vergara says she has to be careful what she eats because “they’re freezing my eggs!,” and that she has to take a lot of peels. Oh, wait… pills.

Sofia also proves she’s the coolest mom ever. During the interview, she whipped out a picture of her 21-year-old son Manolo Gonzalez saying she named him after one of the characters inScarface.
?I looooved that movie, and I was in looove with Steven Bauer,? she says (Al Pacino played Tony Montana, and Steven Bauer played Manolo??Manny??his sidekick and betrayer), assuring me that he was then very handsome and ?superhot.? So she asked her husband, Could they name the baby Manolo? ?And he was like, OK. And then my son, when he grew up, he was like, Oh yeah, Mom, how amazing you named me after a drug-dealer junkie!? She laughs so hard she forgets to eat. ?And I was like, shut up, Manolo!?
That’s right. Shut up, Manolo. Your name came from f*ckingScarface. Other parents named their kids after a fruit or a rainbow. You’re one of the lucky ones.True, nowadays people would probably ask if he was named after Manolo Blahniks but just wait until he explains it was after a backstabbing drug-dealer junkie. They’ll be plenty impressed then.

The ?Modern Family? star dons a bustier equipped with two high-powered fire arms in the image, revealing the power behind her character Desdemona.
Meanwhile, the Robert Rodriguez-directed flick also stars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demin Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Mel Gibson.
In the powerful action film, Trejo?s character returns as ex-Federale agent Machete, who is recruited by the president to perform a nearly impossible mission. Catch ?Machete Kills? in theaters on September 15.

Picking up some groceries on a sunny afternoon, Sofia Vergara went to Bristol Farms in Los Angeles on Wednesday (February 6).
The "Modern Family" star kept herself covered with her long hair over her face and large sunglasses, a long scarf, and blue jeans as she headed back to her vehicle.
On Tuesday, the 40-year-old actress stepped out to promote her new animated flick, "Escape from Planet Earth" at a press junket.
In the adventure comedy, Astronaut Scorch Supernova finds himself caught in a trap when he responds to an SOS from a notoriously dangerous alien planet. The movie hits theaters on February 14th.

Last night, during the red carpet interviews, it was like a repeat for me with Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara. Julie was talking to Giuliana Rancic, and then Sofia Vergara crashed the party with her over-the-top personality and tatas. Don’t they do that every time? Like Julie starts it off and then Sofia has to barge in. It’s not like Julie minds, she’s good friends with Sofia and they probably arrive together and plan it like that, it’s just kind of tired for me, as is Sofia’s very consistent style. She does bombshell va-voom and that’s it. At that SAGs it was more of a dud dress for Sofia. She was in this very white, very wrinkled Donna Karan gown that just looked like a cheap prom dress. You know who else wore Donna Karan last night? Naya Rivera in that Elvira gown. Both of those women looked awful.
Modern Family won the actor for ensemble cast in a comedy, which comes right on the heels of their Golden Globe win this year for best television series – musical or comedy. Here’s Sofia clutching the award in the press room.
In contrast Julie Bowen wasn’t bad in this black leather Johanna Johnson v-neck gown with studded cap sleeves. I get what she was going for – rock and roll meets high fashion, and it’s not a failure of a dress. There’s something cool about it, although I admit that I like Julie so I’m willing to give her a pass. I didn’t like her messy ponytail, though, I thought she could have done something else with her hair.
Their cute costar, Sarah Hyland, was radiant in purple strapless Dolce & Gabbana. This dress is so pretty, and look at how perfect her makeup is. Overall she looks amazing.
And I’m throwing pregnant Busy Phillips in here at the end for lack of another place to put her. She was in a full-coverage full-length Gabriela Cadena gown and told Giuliana that she decided to show off her bump instead of hide it. She also revealed that she’s due in June. I liked that she went with such a fitted gown, that was a bold choice. I also liked her statement necklace. Her hair looked a little goofy to me all puffed up like that.

She may have already earned Emmy nominations for her hit ABC show "Modern Family," but now Sofia Vergara is extending her relationship with the network.
The 40-year-old Colombian stunner is set to executive produce a new pilot that was recently ordered, titled "Killer Women," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The hour-long "soapy drama" project is based off of an Argentine television series and book trilogy named, "Mueres Asesinas," which follows a female Texas Ranger.
At this time, no other details have been given, but stick with GossipCenter for all of the latest updates.
