I’m aware that a lot of women completely give up on their looks after getting married, others a week or two after you start dating them, but I never thought it would happen to such a normally hot Hollywood star like Scarlett Johansson. Here she is in Madrid looking absolutely awful,

| Scarlett Johansson looks like old-school Courtney Love in new ads | Added 15 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Scarlett Johansson is the new face for clothing line Mango, and today announced her gig with the unveiling of some of the photos they?re using in their ads. She looks sort of like a cross between old school Courtney Love and Nicole Kidman, circa 1994. The hair and outfit is pure Courtney, but there?s something about her features and expressions that really remind me of Kidman. Especially in ad up top. Something about the jaw line and cheek bones I think. It?s hard to place exactly what it is, we?ll settle on ?it?s a quality.?
Scarlett Johansson is the new face of Mango. Check out her sultry ads here!
Scarlett isn?t lucky just because she?s starred in many a Woody Allen movie as her breathy, sexy self, or because she nabbed hottie Ryan Reynolds as her husband last year. Nope, this newly-brunette bombshell has what it takes in the fashion world as well.
ScarJo was announced as the new Face of Mango at Santo Mauro Hotel on July 13 in Madrid, Spain, and will be appearing in their ad campaigns.
[From OK!]
I?m a huge fan of the ads. Scarlett looks gorgeous, but she?s not entirely stealing the show. I can still believe the purpose is to see the clothes, not just see someone famous. I haven?t been quite as big a fan of hers since she lost a lot of weight ? somehow it took away a lot of what made her unique to me. But I can?t deny that she looks absolutely stunning here. She does a good job of showing off a sultry side with a bit of an edge. She also looks a bit like Drew Barrymore in the black and white jeans shot. Gorgeous photos ? and Scarlett?s quite the chameleon.

Looks like we won’t have to be looking for any baby bumps soon – as Ryan Reynolds and wife, Scarlett Johansson, are planning to adopt.
“My oldest brother is adopted and I have every intention of adopting at some time,” Reynolds, 32, tells Britain’s Glamour magazine. “I’m very grateful for having my brother in my life. I couldn’t be more pro-adoption. There are plenty of kids in the world that need it.”
The couple married at an intimate ceremony at a Canadian wilderness retreat last year.
Reynolds grew up in Vancouver, Canada. “I learned how to take a punch from a very early age.”
The “Proposal” star says, “I have my father’s face and body, but my mother’s unshakeable thirst for knowledge. She works part-time jobs, but basically she’s been a student her whole life. She still goes to university and she’s in her 60s.”

| Scarlett Johansson's essay marking 15th anniversary of Rwanda's genocide | Added 15 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Scarlett Johansson has written an essay in this week?s Hello! Magazine to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide. She?s also promoting her support of the charity Candles for Rwanda, which send messages of hope and peace to the survivors of the genocide, as well as video commemorations from some famous people (like ScarJo and Tony Blair). You can even make donations, and the proceeds will be used for ?a little support to provide them with the opportunity to help themselves, and a little human kindness to restore their faith in humanity.? Here?s ScarJo?s essay (edited content):
Anyone traveling to Rwanda is struck by an overwhelming hopefulness as soon as they exit the plane. It?s a hopefulness that comes from a community of people who know what the darkest depths of hell can be and yet are determined to come out of that stronger, more compassionate and more understanding; determined to never, ever let the darkness happen again.
I?m lighting a candle for Rwanda as part of a global initiative marking the 15th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide. Candles4rwanda.org is intended to commemorate the million Rwandans slaughtered in 1994 and to promote support for destitute survivors who are still suffering as a consequence of the genocide today. I think that right now, as Rwanda is rebuilding and really finding its identity after the genocide, this is the time to support the country and its people - to take what?s thriving there and nourish it.
When I visited Rwanda…one of the most important things that the genocide survivors expressed to me was their need for continuing global support; the necessity of a global campaign to support Rwanda during this time of reconstruction…. [Rwanda has] a very fragile society that has known the most nightmarish hell.
Thousands of orphans and widows, whose homes, means of living, loved ones and whole communities were taken away from them, are still suffering the economic and material consequences of the genocide. [Some survivors] have been forced into prostitution.
Candles for Rwanda is intended to help change all that by giving these survivors a little support to provide them with the opportunity to help themselves, and a little human kindness to restore their faith in humanity. And I think when you?ve seen the darkest depths of humanity, you have an appreciation for life that is indescribable.
[It] is so important that we continue to assist Rwanda?s people financially, through volunteer work, healthcare and education.
[From Hello! Magazine, print edition, June 9 2009]
It sounds like a very nice, respectful charity, but they don?t really seem to be asking people for large contributions. They seem to be focused on education rather than bringing money in to help the survivors of the genocide. Which is fine - this stuff starts with education. Hopefully, it won?t end with it.
Last year, Scarlett traveled to Rwanda for RED, the charity founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver. At the time, she was promoting RED products, and she said, “It was important for me to come here and see the issues we’re up against firsthand… I came here with an open mind, wanting to listen and understand.” She also donates her time to Oxfam, and has traveled on a fact-finding/humanitarian trip to India. It seems like Scarlett is one of those good celebrities who puts her time and efforts into educating herself and being on the ground, learning what people are really struggling with. I applaud her, and I hope she becomes more active in the years to come.

| Gwyneth Paltrow is upset with Scarlett Johansson on 'Iron Man 2' | Added 15 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Oh, who could have predicted this? Probably all of us. Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson are at each other?s throats while filming Iron Man 2. Gwyneth is ?frustrated? with ScarJo?s acting style, and Gwyneth is also upset that ScarJo seemed to be getting most of the attention from the crew. A source told The Sun that part of the problem was the differences in costumes. As The Black Widow, Scarlett has been ?donning sexy catsuits and carrying guns for the scenes shot so far, Gwyneth has mainly had to settle for prim business suits.? Yes, I would imagine Scarlett in a leather catsuit would get more attention from every man than Goopy on her best day. But no fear! Because Gwyneth has been promised the ?centerpiece? action scene, filming in June, so Gwyneth can ?recharge her batteries before returning for her chance to show who is boss.?
The claws are out on the set of Iron Man 2 with stars Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow going head to head.
Gwynny reckons her on-set rival is hogging the limelight and now sparks are flying between the movie?s two female leads.
One Hollywood source revealed yesterday: ?Gwyneth has become very frustrated with Scarlett. They come from different worlds and have completely different styles.?
?Gwyneth has found Scarlett very demanding of the attention of the crew. It?s not a happy set.?
Gwyneth has been left exhausted by the politics and a series of strenuous scenes and and is now taking a two-week break from filming.
Hubby Chris Martin has lavished her with love and supported her at a dinner with friends in LA. The couple have now left for the US east coast for Coldplay?s latest US dates.
In the film Gwyneth once again plays Pepper Potts, assistant to comic book hero Tony Stark But for the sequel ? out next year ? film-makers opted to bring in Scarlett as Natasha Romanoff, a sexy former spy known as the Black Widow.
The on-set source added: ?Gwyneth and Scarlett have never been particularly close.?
?Gwyneth was looking forward to working with Emily Blunt, who was originally in line for the part, but it ended up being Scarlett. Gwyneth?s had to live with that and she has been very professional, but she and Scarlett haven?t developed a friendship on the shoot, which is almost at the half way point.?
?In fact, it?s quite the opposite.?
While Scarlett has been donning sexy catsuits and carrying guns for the scenes shot so far, Gwyneth has mainly had to settle for prim business suits.
But she has been assured she will get her moment to come out all guns blazing in the flick?s action-packed finale.
The source went on: ?The most spectacular sequence in the movie is a huge fight between Robert and MICKEY ROURKE, and she is going to be right in the thick of things.?
?That section of the movie is going to be three straight weeks of filming in June.?
?It is by far the most expensive sequence, the centrepiece of the whole project. Gwyneth?s break has come at a perfect time.?
?She can recharge her batteries before returning for her chance to show who is boss.?
[From The Sun]
I realize that a lot of people don?t care for Scarlett, but I think she?s a gifted actress and I?ve never read an interview where she didn?t come across as intelligent and nice. Even if you don?t care for her acting or her looks, she really seems like a professional. Unlike Paltrow, who has never met a situation where she didn?t demand special treatment. In the end, Gwyneth should be grateful she got a gig on a really successful franchise. And as Pepper Potts, she?s playing ?the good girl?, so you know the hero is going to end up with her.

| Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut deemed 'unwatchable' | Added 15 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I try to like Scarlett Johansson. I try hard. She seems classy in a way most actresses her age aren?t, and I appreciated that she wasn?t stick thin (until recently). Plus, she?s married to Ryan Reynolds, and at the risk of being overtly superficial, any woman who gets to go home to that has my respect.
Nonetheless, there have been a lot of stories of self-important and diva-ish behavior, so it?s a little hard not to snicker when hearing that Johansson?s first directorial attempt was so bad that it had to be cut altogether.
Scarlett Johansson’s dream of being a director was dashed on her first try.
Johansson — who’s said in the past she’d prefer to direct rather than act — helmed a segment for the upcoming movie “New York, I Love You,” a series of intertwined love stories shot by several auteurs, including Brett Ratner and Natalie Portman.
But unfortunately for Johansson, her segment, starring Kevin Bacon and shot in black and white, was deemed “unwatchable,” sources said.
“It was really bad, so it was cut,” one insider told Page Six. Andrei Zvyagintsev’s segment starring Carla Gugino and Goran Visnjic was also cut from the final edit.
[From Page Six]
The film?s producer tried to quell any potential negative press by doing his best to put a positive spin on Scarlett?s piece. And to his credit, you can tell he?s really trying. While dancing around the aforementioned badness.
But the film’s producer, Emmanuel Benbihy, told us Johansson’s bit ended up in the scrapheap not because it was bad, but because “the story did not specifically involve an interpersonal relationship, and it was conceptualized to be filmed in black and white — both of which were extreme departures from the other films.”
Benbihy added, “Scarlett presented me with an extremely compelling, albeit unconventional, narrative that appeared as though it would not necessarily conform to the overall approach of the entire collective . . . However, I was very much moved by her vision and I did not want to pass on the opportunity to help her develop it. All that matters to me is the genuine movie language of the author.”
He continued: “Scarlett and I nonetheless agreed that a final determination of its appropriateness in the context of the other contributions and the overall story would be best made in the editorial process. And after months of editing . . . I had to admit that there were editorial decisions to be made in the interest of serving the overall narrative and composition that resulted in previously filmed scenes and footage not getting used.”
[From Page Six]
It sounds as though he?s focusing on the fact that Scarlett didn?t follow directions. Though something tells me if she?d strayed a bit but the final product was still great, Benbihy would have included it. The comment about ?after months of editing?? makes it sound like Johansson’s film segment got more difficult and he just couldn?t make it work. It is being included on the DVD version of the film.
Johansson got fairly poor reviews for her CD, a collection of Tom Waits covers. She does bring her own vision to things, and I?ve got to give her credit for that. And certainly part of being creative and an artist is experimenting and finding that balance between what you like and what everyone else likes. It doesn?t mean Johansson doesn?t have a future as a director. But perhaps working on collaborative films isn?t her thing.

| Scarlett Johansson is losing weight thanks to Gwyneth's scam trainer | Added 15 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Long ago, during a more innocent time, Scarlett Johansson claimed she?d never dieted or gone to the gym. And by ?long ago,? I mean February. A lot of things have changed in two months, because not only has Scarlett lost a good deal of weight (and curves) since then, but according to Star (via The Sun), she?s done it with diet and exercise.
I think most folk will agree Scarlett Johansson’s curvy figure is a winner. So it comes as a disappointment to learn the bubbly blonde’s famous assets may disappear after being put on a strict diet by Gwyneth Paltrow.
The actress has reportedly lost over 14lbs since she began working out with her Iron Man 2 co-star in preparation for the movie. A source told Star magazine: ?The pair have been doing daily workouts with Gwyneth?s personal trainer TRACY ANDERSON.
“Scarlett is also staying away from carbohydrates.? The 24-year-old actress decided to diet, reportedly fearing she could lose out on the roles she wants to younger, more attractive actresses.
A friend said: ?Scarlett has always been happy with her curves, but recently she has been feeling pressure to lose a few pounds. She knows that she is up against tough competition from younger, prettier and increasingly skinner actresses.?
Scarlett previously insisted she loved her fuller figure and felt no pressure to diet. She said: ?I don?t need to be skinny to be sexy.?
[From The Sun]
What a bummer. For a lot of reasons. First being that Tracy Anderson?s diets are extremely unhealthy, and dangerous. In some cases she advocates eating less than 800 calories a day and exercising for two hours. She?s also a renowned scam artist , who has somehow gained a bit of legitimacy just by training Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna.
I really respected Scarlett for having a sensible approach to her body. And it was freaking perfect ? so why shouldn?t she? If it ain?t broke, don?t fix it. Certainly don’t go down such an unhealthy path to do it.
