I try to call out conspicuous consumption when I think it?s warranted, while still maintaining the general belief that if you earn money, you should be able to spend it without the peanut gallery chiming in. The thing about it is though, if most of these celebrity stories were just about ?Celebrity B bought an expensive bracelet,? it would be easy enough to just shrug that off and say fair enough, she earned the money. But it?s harder to maintain that when Celebrity B flaunts her new bracelet on social media and brags about how much it cost. I guess my aversion is mostly just towards the ?conspicuous? part of conspicuous consumption. Just consuming to flaunt, to brag, to try to fill your life with an endless amount of sh-t.
Britney Spears is not really that kind of conspicuous consumer. Sure, she makes 80 trips to Target every year, but that?s just further evidence of her (dare I say) middle-class taste. She shops at The Gap and Old Navy and Target. She prefers McDonald?s to a fancy restaurant. She prefers flip-flops to Jimmy Choos. So, Britney decided to post this to her Instagram:

Here are some photos from last night?s LA premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. These are just the celebrity guests at the premiere I put Leo Brad and Margot in a separate post. I was surprised to see Britney Spears come out for a premiere, especially given all the sh-t that?s gone down with her this year. She came with her boyfriend Sam Asghari and just judging from the photos, she seemed present and happy. That being said, if was struggling with her issues, I?m not sure I?d want to watch a movie about the Manson Family, damn. Britney?s dress here is Nookie.
The Willis sisters came together Rumer, Scout and Tallulah. I only have an ID on Rumer?s dress it?s Ong Oaj Pairam. None of these sisters are wearing their best colors.
Austin Butler the new Elvis! came with girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, but they posed separately. Vanessa wore Armani.
Margaret Qualley wore Prada. I guess I get the idea of this, but the execution is lacking and she looks severely underdressed.
Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara came out. She wore Dolce & Gabbana. While this looks fine on her, I really wish people would stop wearing D&G.
Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky were there too. I wonder if Chris was supporting fellow Aussie Margot.

Here are some photos of Britney Spears over the weekend. She?s been photographed out and about frequently in the past few months, we just haven?t had access to those photos here because they were always super-exclusive. These are not super-exclusive, which tells me that photo agencies expect to be seeing more of Britney in the weeks and months to come, and more Britney sightings will mean the price of those photos will be driven down (market forces!). Britney was out shopping with her boyfriend Sam Asghari this weekend, and she seemed sort of happy to see the paparazzi. The jeans tell me that Britney might not know what year it is.
For the last ten years, all of Britney?s boyfriends were thoroughly vetted by Jamie Spears. I tend to believe the guys were always told, upfront, what was allowed and what was not allowed. No talking about Britney in the press, no drugs, no drinking. Carefully staged dates, keep her happy, some overnight visits but no cohabitation. Going to the gym together is a plus. I also tend to believe that many of her boyfriends were getting paid, although I have nothing to back that up other than a general feeling. Sam was absolutely vetted by Jamie Spears when Sam and Britney started up three years ago. And Sam is sticking with Britney:

As Spears? mental health and long-held conservatorship has made its way back into the spotlight, Asghari has remained focused on the well-being of his girlfriend, who also spent time with her kids Sean, 13, and Jayden, 12, over the weekend.
?When Britney wasn?t doing well, Sam supported and encouraged Britney to seek help,? says the source. ?It?s obvious that he really cares about her. Sam is such an important part of her life.?

I mean? maybe Sam isn?t so much looking for career opportunities as much as he?s playing a longer game if Britney?s conservatorship is loosened or stopped, Britney will finally be able to legally marry. And that means Sam could? well, you know. I know I?m being harsh, ascribing all of this to him. CB believes hes a good, decent guy who simply loves Britney and wants to help her, and he genuinely seems low-key and like he obviously sees Britney as the wounded bird she is. Its more than possible that he genuinely cares about her and wants to see her healthy. But I have been warped by the general shadiness around Britney and the people in her life, and I cant help but wonder there are many opportunistic hustlers around her at the moment.

The Britney Spears saga continues to upset me, because I keep feeling like people are focusing on the wrong things. We now know for sure that Britney is not currently doing well her medication situation is being evaluated, and her conservatorship is in shambles. The court is doing a thorough investigation of the conservatorship and whether Britney should be allowed the personal freedom she seems to want. Lynne Spears is involved too, and historically, Lynne?s influence has not been good for Britney. Kevin Federline is reportedly keeping their sons close and not allowing them too much time (or any time) with Britney right now.
Throughout the week, people have been focused on some comments that Britney?s longtime manager Larry Rudolph made to TMZ. Seemingly out of nowhere, Rudolph chimed in, saying that he doesn?t think Britney will ever work in Vegas again and will probably never work again. He later clarified, saying ?Other media sources seem to be picking up my quotes to TMZ as implying that Britney will never work again. That?s not what I said. I simply said that the Vegas residency is now officially off and that she hasn?t called me in months to talk about doing anything so I?m not sure if or when she will ever want to work again. It?s that simple. All of which? is not what the focus should be, Jesus. Britney has hundreds of millions of dollars. The current conversation isn?t ?let?s make Britney well enough so we can trot her out in Vegas and make even more money off this fragile woman.? The conversation is ?can Britney function on a daily level?? And the answer seems to be no, she can?t function.

According to the insider, Spears experiences a range of emotions on a daily basis. ?Right now, she is very sluggish and down. Some days, she is a zombie. There is no life and definitely no passion in her. It?s very sad.?

Yeah? I know ?sources? keep saying that Britney?s doctors are working on a new prescription drug cocktail for her, but I?m kind of wondering if we?ll eventually learn that Britney has been refusing to take her meds. That?s what it reads like to me, although I fully acknowledge I could be wrong. We know that Britney told the court that Jamie was drugging her without her consent, and I feel like this is part of that.

As we?ve been discussing, Britney Spears and her conservatorship are struggling these days. Britney has seemingly been in a difficult state for months now, as doctors have been trying out new medications. Adding to those difficulties was the fact that Jamie Spears has had significant health issues the past six months, and he wasn?t capable of maintaining his iron grip on Britney?s money, career and personal life with the same consistency as before. Britney apparently told the court that Jamie put her into the mental health facility without her consent, and that she?d like much more freedom in her life. The judge ordered a series of evaluations Lynne Spears seems to want a say in Brit?s conservatorship, and Britney asked for specific things to change in her conservatorship too. All of which means that the past decade of Britney?s conservatorship is under a microscope:
The people responsible for controlling Britney Spears? life are now in the crosshairs of court investigators as the judge in her conservatorship case has ordered a thorough investigation of all the players who take part in planning her personal life, financial affairs and medical treatment. According to documents obtained by The Blast, the judge in Britney?s conservatorship has ordered a probate court investigator to take a hard look at the singer?s case, and wants a court investigator?s report filed before Britney?s next hearing in September.
The move was quietly made days after Britney was ordered to undergo an expert evaluation to determine whether the restraints in her conservatorship should be loosened or modified. The job of a probate court investigator is to conduct extensive interviews with all the people involved in a conservatorship case, including guardians, conservators, doctors and even law enforcement officials who have had contact with the subject of the conservatorship. The investigator will also be reviewing medical and financial records, including custody agreements and even contractual obligations ? such as her Las Vegas residency.
It has long been debated whether Britney?s team, including her father Jamie Spears, were pushing Britney beyond her limits while signing her up for another round of performances in Sin City. Her manager has maintained that Britney was the one who wanted to keep working, but questions have been raised about her team?s handling of Britney?s fragile mental state while negotiating lucrative business deals.

Mike Redmond at Pajiba (formerly at The Superficial) pointed out something I had forgotten, which is that Jamie got a percentage of Britney?s Las Vegas deal(s) and he was making seven-figures from throwing Britney on stage on a regular basis. Personally, I don?t believe that the Las Vegas residency contributed to Britney?s ?fragile mental state? I agreed with Britney fans at the time that the schedule, the workouts, the dancing, it all helped her or, at the very least, she enjoyed it. The issue for me isn?t ?should Britney work,? it?s ?is she competent enough to make basic decisions about her life?? Why debate whether or not she wants to work when the real debate is whether she?s capable of driving a car, or capable of figuring out if she wants to go to Starbucks, or capable of deciding who to date without her father arranging it? And if the questions of bare-bones competency go the way I think they will, I still have to wonder WTF Jamie Spears was thinking with the entire Jason Trawick debacle. Britney and Jason were ?engaged? and Jamie was putting Jason on Britney?s co-conservator at the same time. That always disturbed the fk out of me.

Britney Spears checked into a mental health facility earlier this month. I won?t get into the giant backstory, suffice to say that I believed the more intensive 24-7 treatment was probably necessary. I didn?t buy that Britney was being held against her will, or that Jamie Spears was organizing some massive scheme to make Britney look unstable or whatever. I think Britney has legitimate mental health issues and she needs to be under the care of doctors constantly. When she?s on her meds, she knows that too. Britney slapped back on the conspiracy theories earlier this week too. And now? Britney is out of the facility. For good.
Britney Spears will have a big reunion today with her kids. Britney and Kevin Federline have joint custody of 13-year-old Sean and 12-year-old Jayden. The arrangement has been that she gets them 3 days, he gets them 3 days, she gets them 3 days, he gets them 3 days, and so on.
Britney has had less than the agreed-upon 50/50 custody for several months leading up to her stay at the mental health facility. While she was doing poorly, the kids would visit, but Kevin had the kids most of the time. So, Britney begins her 3 days with the kids today, but theres still significant concern about her mental state. Our sources say the 30-day stay at a mental health facility which ended Wednesday put her in a better place, but there are still issues with her judgment, and it goes beyond medication.
As we reported, doctors continue to struggle, trying to find the right combination of meds to stabilize Britney. The meds she had been taking lost their efficacy, and creating a new cocktail is fraught with problems. Britney had stopped taking the new meds earlier this year when they were doing more harm than good.
Were told progress is being made, but theres another big unresolved factor. The meds will stabilize her, but there are more fundamental mental health issues that go to judgment and perspective, and that requires intensive therapy something she has been and will continue to receive. Short story shes doing better, but shes not right, at least not yet. Its something her dad, Jamie, has been dealing with for nearly a dozen years as her conservator, trying to give her the space she needs to live her life, and at the same time steer her away from disaster.

Again, Kevin Federline and Britney?s custodial arrangement is basically an off-the-books, informal thing that K-Fed worked out with Jamie Spears. K-Fed has sole custody of their sons, and he can stop the informal custodial arrangement whenever he wants. I would hope that if Britney truly is struggling still, Kevin would do what is in the best interest of the boys. It?s not Kevin?s job to look out for Britney, it?s his job to take care of their sons. As for Brit, I feel sad for her and I hope her doctors aren?t just using her as a lab rat. I get that it?s about finding the right cocktail, but this whole thing is just so sad.

As we discussed last week, there?s a very involved conspiracy going around about Britney Spears. Britney checked into a mental health facility this month as part of the ongoing drama following her dad?s health issues. Jamie Spears has been in-and-out of hospitals since December, and Jamie has been Britney?s conservator for more than a decade. He managed or micromanaged every part of Britney?s life. She reportedly fell apart during his health issues. The conspiracy was that Britney was being held against her will at the facility and that all she wants is to be free of her dad and her doctors and the conservatorship in general. But TMZ has another take:
Britney Spears is at the tail end of her 30-day stay at a mental health facility and weve learned more about how she landed there in the first place. As we reported, Britney has had a rough time dealing with her dads recent illness. Jamie and Britney are super close hes been her conservator for nearly a dozen years and his health battles have taken a big toll on her.
Were told at the same time, Britneys doctors were adjusting her meds which had lost their efficacy. Britneys mental health issues were stabilized with a cocktail of medicines that were designed specifically her. Over time, those meds were increasingly ineffective and doctors needed to create a new cocktail. Were told there were problems. First, they had to wean Britney off the existing meds. This cannot be done quickly and theres a risk of suicide if its not done right its that serious.
As doctors weaned her off the meds, they created a new cocktail, but its all trial and error, and there were errors that made Britney unstable and ultimately unwilling to cooperate with doctors. She was admitted to the mental health facility and were told doctors think theyve now found the right mixture of drugs. Britney got a day pass Sunday to spend time with her boyfriend, Sam Asghari, in Bev Hills. She went back to the facility the same day.
One other thing there have been reports the conservatorship has forced meds on Britney against her will. Not true. The conservatorship Britney is under does not permit the conservator to force drugs on the person for whom the conservatorship was created. On that note, there have also been reports Jamie Spears forced Britney into the mental health facility. The type of conservatorship Britney has through the probate court does not allow a conservator to force someone into a mental health facility. Whats more, were told Jamie is adamant he did not want his daughter to go to the facility because he thought it would leak out to the media and he felt there were better ways of solving her problems. Were told Britney is the one who said she wanted to go.

Conspiracies around Britney crop up every month, and I tend to believe about half of them. In this case, I think there probably were some issues with her medication and it makes sense if her doctors were worried about her long-term usage of those medications losing some of the efficacy. But I also think it?s possible that Britney is like so many people who suffer with serious and life-altering mental illnesses: she was on prescription drugs which helped her and she thought she was ?cured? so she decided to stop taking them. Or she stopped taking her meds because she didn?t like how they felt. My guess/conspiracy is that without anyone to monitor her full-time, Britney just stopped taking her meds at some point and Jamie gave her some options, one of which was the mental health facility. Basically, this TMZ story comes from Jamie Spears, who is trying to paint this whole thing is the best light possible. We?ll never really know what has happened with Britney over the past decade, honestly.

The past year has been full of low-key news about Britney Spears. Throughout the spring and summer of 2018, Britney & Jamie Spears were in a financial battle with Kevin Federline, who still has full custody of his sons with Britney. The reason he still has full custody is because Britney is still in a comprehensive conservatorship, and after months of making noise about how he was going to fight K-Fed in court, Jamie Spears folded and gave K-Fed more money than he was asking for, all to avoid K-Fed?s audit of Britney?s finances. Then Jamie had significant health problems, starting late last year. He was hospitalized for a long time, and Britney had to cancel her latest Vegas show. Then, very quietly, Britney?s co-conservator Andrew Wallet quit with no warning and no one in place to act as co-conservator. And Jamie?s health is still struggling.
All in all, this hasn?t been the best environment for Britney. As we?ve seen, she?s thrived relatively speaking while under the conservatorship because Jamie controls so much of her life and provided her with a great deal of stability. That?s been out the window for about six months. So? yes, Britney has checked into a mental health facility.
Britney Spears has been admitted to a mental health facility TMZ has learned. Sources connected to Britney tell TMZ she has been distraught over her dads illness something were told is quite serious and not getting better. Jamie Spears has now had 2 surgeries to correct major issues with his intestines and colon. The second surgery was recent but hes been suffering complications. Jamies issues started late last year after his colon spontaneously ruptured.
As you know, Britney put her Vegas residency on hold to care for her dad, and were told shes been having a really hard time. Britney posted a photo with the words, Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit along with the caption, We all need to take a little time for a little me time. Our sources say Britney checked herself into the facility about a week ago where she will live for 30 days.
As TMZ reported, Britney has been under a conservatorship since 2008 for issues relating to bipolarity. As for how her dads illness is affecting her remember, Jamie saved Britneys life by stepping in back in 2007 when he said he feared he would wake up one morning and get a call from the coroner.

According to another source close to the family, ?Britney just needed to focus on herself? as she cares for her father Jamie after his ?life-threatening? colon rupture, the source confirms.
?Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her,? the source tells PEOPLE. ?He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He?s not doing well. They?re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her ? she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself.?

I wonder where Lynn Spears is? Lynn and Jamie divorced years ago, but they?re reportedly still close, and Lynn is close to both of their daughters. Still, I feel like there was always a reason why Lynn was never given any power within the conservatorship. I also think that there?s been way too much chaos in Britney?s life lately and we probably don?t even know how bad it was getting for her before she checked into the facility. I?m concerned about what happens after the 30 days, you know? Will Lynn step up? Will there be a new court-appointed conservator?

Im a fan of Britney Spears. I like how she keeps in shape and manages to stay somewhat relevant after all these years. However, this commercial for her perfume is odd. She looks too jacked up. Her shoulders are like a linebacker. She needs to quit the weights and stick to girly exercises. []

Britney Spears? first Las Vegas residency was a wild success, in that the residency was extremely lucrative and Britney seemed to enjoy being in one place for weeks/months at a time. Britney had stability and she was making tons of money. The money issue led to Britney and Jamie Spears having to pay Kevin Federline even more in child support, but still, that was just a dent in Britney?s earnings. Britney?s first residency ended in December 2017, and I think Jamie Spears was like ?well, that worked out great, we should do another one.? There were negotiations for months, and Britney recently announced a new ?concert series? at the MGM in Vegas. The problem? Maybe people are a little bit tired of Britney? The ticket sales are not great, apparently.
Oops. She shouldn?t have done it again. A week after tickets went on sale for Britney Spears? ?Domination? concert series at the Park MGM in Las Vegas ? fresh on the heels of a yearslong Vegas stint that ended last December ? her first month of shows remains more than half unsold, sources told The Post. By comparison, a 27-show stint for Lady Gaga that begins Dec. 28 at the same venue nearly sold out in the first week tickets were available. An Aerosmith residency that starts April 6 was 85 percent sold out in a week, according to sources.
It was only last New Year?s Eve that the ?Toxic? singer wrapped up her initial Las Vegas residency ? a four-year, 248-show run at Planet Hollywood entitled ?Piece of Me? ? which with a $138 million gross has her in fourth place on Las Vegas? residency register.
Spears is launching the ?Domination? series on Feb. 13 despite the fact that ?Piece of Me? stopped selling out after its first two years in Las Vegas, an insider said. The series was announced on Oct. 18 ? less than a month after it was reported that 36-year-old Spears will have to pay thousands of dollars more a month in child support to ex Kevin Federline.

If you were in Las Vegas for a week, and you could only afford to see one MGM show, would you choose Aerosmith, Gaga or Britney? I?m honestly not sure who I would pick. I think the Aerosmith show would end up being a good time, and you would know what you are getting. Gaga?s show would be a spectacle, but I would actually put that last on the list. Britney?s show? feels like the kind of thing people will get tickets for at the last minute, when they realize she?s performing that very day. What I?m saying is that Britney?s the last-minute, budget choice, maybe? Her concert is not the one you build your Vegas trip around.
