Everything is coming up Free Britney! Last week, Jamie Spears filed papers to formally end his daughter?s conservatorship, and this week, Britney?s lawyer Mathew Rosengart has responded to Jamie, basically detailing the best way to structure the transition from Britney?s full conservatorship to something a lot looser. The main priority for Rosengart and Britney is to get Jamie the fk out of Britney?s estate entirely. Rosengart has indicated to the court and to the public that the financial side of the conservatorship has been a really bonkers grift for years, and that Jamie has always exerted too much control over Britney?s person and her money.
If Jamie Spears opened the door to end his daughters 13-year-long conservatorship, then Britney and her lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, have just barreled through that door, because theyve just filed documents setting the stage to end the conservatorship this Fall. Rosengart just filed legal docs in which he agrees with Jamie Spears on one point the conservatorship no longer serves a legitimate purpose and should end immediately. Furthermore, Rosengart agrees with Jamie that the conservatorship should be terminated without any further medical evaluation something Britney expressed to the judge back in June.
Rosengart says there have been changed circumstances that warrant the end of the conservatorship namely, the judge already allowed Britney to select her own lawyer the point being she has the capacity and capability to identify, engage, and instruct counsel of her own choice. In the docs, Rosengart quotes Jamies document, If Ms. Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance. In effect, Brit and her lawyer are saying, True That!
Britney is asking that a termination plan be formulated immediately so the conservatorship could wind down in its entirety. Now, the hearing a week from today is to get Jamie out of the conservatorship immediately, and Rosengart offered a litany of reasons why that must happen. He claims Jamie has raked in millions and he needs to be out immediately.
Rosengart says Jamie never had any business being a conservator he has no training in economics or finance and his own finances were in disarray. Britneys lawyer says the judge should appoint a conservator of her estate on a temporary basis to replace Jamie while a plan is put in place to end the conservatorship altogether.
[From TMZ]
I genuinely hope that Mathew Rosengart doesn?t turn out to be a villain, because I feel like he?s doing a bang-up job. Despite complaints from the Free Britney crowd, I also feel like Jodi Montgomery is doing a good job and Britney trusts her, which is one of the most important things. The biggest priority remains getting Jamie out and freeing Britney from having the legal status of a child. That will clear the path for her to marry Sam Asghari, and Rosengart also told the court that the prenup is being written up right now:
Rosengart links the urgency to removed the conservatorship to Britney?s recent engagement to her longtime boyfriend, Sam Asghari, and reveals that she does plan to get a prenuptial agreement to protect her assets.
To all the reasons why immediate suspension always has been required, we now can add another essential one: as has been publicly reported, Ms. Spears recently became engaged, state the court papers, obtained by E! News. With Ms. Spearss consent and pursuant to her instructions, Ms. Spears and the undersigned counsel are in the process of engaging a family law attorney to craft a prenuptial agreement.
The filing continues, The prenuptial agreement process will require communications with and cooperation from the Conservator of her Estate but, as referenced above and well-established in the record, given that Ms. Spears s relationship with that Conservator (her father) is broken, Mr. Spearss continued involvement would impede the ability to negotiate and consummate a contract that all can agree is in Ms. Spearss best interests.
[From E! News]
Basically, this is all pretty precarious at the moment because legally right now, at this moment Britney still can?t technically make the decision to marry or sign a prenup or anything like that, because she?s still under the conservatorship. Rosengart?s first priority is getting Jamie out and ending this legal quagmire so that Britney can then sign a good prenup and be free to marry Sam. And lord, I hope it?s a good prenup.

Britney Spears just got engaged to Sam Asghari over the weekend. Britney celebrated by posting a video on her Instagram, which is how many celebrities mark the big occasions in their lives. Britney has been spending a lot of time on Instagram this summer it felt like she finally got all of her social media passwords back during her conservatorship fight, and she went a little bit wild, posting topless photos and any old thing she wanted. Well, that?s over. For now. She deleted her Instagram, and she insists that it?s her choice.
It?s her prerogative. Britney Spears is sending a ?powerful? message by deleting her Instagram amid her 13-year conservatorship, a source exclusively told Page Six on Tuesday.
?She?s happy and in a great place,? the source said, adding, ?and silence can be a powerful thing and a powerful message.?
The insider affirmed, ?This was her decision.?
The source also shared that the ?Overprotected? pop star, 39, is taking some time away from social media ?in light of the successful path that she?s been on and continues to be on [following] the news of [her engagement].?
Spears? attorney, Mathew Rosengart, confirmed separately to Page Six that it was his client?s choice to take a social media break.
Our insider also noted that major celebs take social media breaks ?all the time,? and this shouldn?t be viewed as something negative for Spears.
[From Page Six]
Considering many people were worried about her when she was posting non-stop this summer, I find the angst from the Britney-stan crowd a little bit weird. It?s either too much or too little for Britney?s stans! I?m glad she?s taking a break from Insta, although I do wonder if it was entirely her choice. I wonder if her lawyer recommended it for what will probably be a busy couple of months of court hearings and drama with Jamie Spears. I also think it?s a little bit funny that Britney couldn?t simply leave her Instagram up and just walk away for a few months without posting any new content. I mean? people do that all the time. I haven?t updated my Instagram in more than a year.
Don?t worry folks ? just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement ?? !!!! I?ll be back soon ???

| Britney Spears will not be charged with misdemeanor battery on her housekeeper | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Britney Spears will not be charged by the Ventura County DA! The DA was looking into whether Britney should be charged for misdemeanor battery for an incident involving one of her housekeepers. The story was complicated, but basically a housekeeper took Britney?s dogs away and gave them to a dog walker, and when Britney wanted them back, she and the housekeeper argued and Britney possibly slapped the housekeeper?s phone out of her hand. Team Britney evidently felt like Jamie Spears was orchestrating some sh-t behind-the-scenes and trying to make Britney look crazy and violent. Britney ended up firing the housekeeper and she?s not being charged with anything:
Prosecutors have decided not to file a charge against Britney Spears for allegedly swatting her housekeeper?s phone in a dispute at her home last month. In a statement on Wednesday, Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko said there was insufficient evidence that a crime had occurred, and noted the lack of injury to the housekeeper or damage to the phone.
The housekeeper called the authorities on Aug. 16, after a fight over the veterinary care received by Spears? dog.
?During the argument, Spears was alleged to have slapped a phone out of the housekeeper?s hand,? the D.A.?s office said Wednesday. ?The housekeeper indicated that the screen protector to the phone was damaged. The housekeeper had no visible injuries.?
Mathew Rosengart, Spears? attorney, expressed appreciation that the D.A.?s office rejected the case, and again called it ?tabloid fodder.? He also alluded to the media?s past treatment of Spears, which has been the subject of reappraisal in the wake of ?Framing Britney Spears,? the documentary about her conservatorship.
?If this involved Jane Doe rather than Britney Spears it would not have been pursued or covered at all,? Rosengart said in a statement. ?Anyone can make an accusation but this should never have made it this far and we are glad the DA?s Office has done the right thing. Sadly, it is apparent that some have learned nothing from the past, and we sincerely hope the media and others will be more respectful of Ms. Spears in the future.?
[From Variety]
I think it was a combination of things, it wasn?t just that the housekeeper had no injuries, it was also that Britney is still in the conservatorship and it feels like it would be incredibly tricky legally to charge her with battery. And maybe the investigation did uncover Jamie Spears? involvement, who knows. Anyway, I?m glad Britney can focus on gaining some freedom and moving on from her father?s control.

| Britney Spears' lawyer accuses Jamie Spears of attempting to extort Britney | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

For years, I kept saying that something in the milk ain?t clean about the financials of Jamie Spears? management of his daughters fortune. For years, I said that I believed Jamie Spears had been skimming from Britney?s fortune. People always yelled at me that it was impossible, that the court was monitoring everything, that Jamie would never. Thirteen years later, and Britney?s new lawyer is basically confirming all of my theories about Jamie. Mathew Rosengart has already called for a comprehensive audit of Britney?s finances because he believes Jamie Spears has been taking her money for more than a decade. This is a huge reason why Jamie doesn?t want to step down as conservator too: not only will he not have access to Britney?s money anymore, an independent audit will reveal the extent of Jamie?s financial crimes. Speaking of, Rosengart claims Jamie is attempting to extort Britney for her nominal ?freedom.?
Britney Spears? lawyer is keeping up his blistering attacks on her father, accusing Jamie Spears of trying to ?extort? $2 million in payments in exchange for stepping down from her conservatorship.
The attorney, Mathew Rosengart, has been seeking since July to have Jamie Spears removed from his position of control over her finances. Earlier this month, Jamie Spears agreed that it would be best for him step down from the conservatorship, saying he did not want a public fight with his daughter. However, he did not provide a timetable for his resignation, and appeared to open the door to a negotiated resolution.
In a filing on Monday, Rosengart argued that Jamie Spears is seeking to use his leverage to compel his daughter?s estate to pay $1.3 million in attorneys? fees, $500,000 to Spears? former management company, as well as additional payments to Jamie Spears himself. Rosengart?s filing makes it clear that he has no interest in negotiating Jamie Spears? departure, and is looking instead to Judge Brenda Penny to order his removal at the next court hearing, on Sept. 29.
?The status quo is no longer tolerable, and Britney Spears will not be extorted,? Rosengart wrote. ?Mr. Spears?s blatant attempt to barter suspension and removal in exchange for approximately $2 million in payments, on top of the millions already reaped from Ms. Spears?s estate by Mr. Spears and his associates, is a non-starter.?
Rosengart had earlier accused Jamie Spears of enriching himself at the expense of his daughter?s estate, and of ?dissipating? her fortune. Jamie Spears has denied wrongdoing and defended his handling of her financial affairs.
?Having finally acknowledged that his time as Conservator should end, Mr. Spears is obligated to step down without condition and without seeking to extract anything further from his daughter,? Rosengart argued.
He has asked the court to appoint an accountant to replace Spears? father as the conservator of her estate.
[From Variety]
Again, while I have no doubt that Jamie Spears gets off on physically and emotionally controlling Britney, the biggest ?prize? of the conservatorship was always Jamie?s plundering of Britney?s fortune. I?m thinking back to Kevin Federline filing for an increase in child support payments in 2018 and basing the request on Britney?s increased income from her Vegas residency. Jamie was so mad and he tried to smear K-Fed ten different ways. K-Fed and his lawyer calmly asked the court for an audit of Britney?s recent finances and suddenly Jamie shut the hell up and negotiated everything quietly. Kevin ended up getting more than he asked for. That?s how badly Jamie wanted to avoid any kind of audit. All that to say, it doesn?t surprise me that Jamie is trying to extort Britney and get paid on his way out the door.

| Britney Spears: 'My so-called support system hurt me deeply' | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

In the past couple of weeks, as Britney Spears had made progress in her conservatorship case, her mother and sister have issued statements of support. Lynn, Britneys mother, was somewhat vague and posted a Bible verse about light winning over darkness. Britneys sister, Jamie Lynn, posted an Instagram story video at the end of June. Jamie Lynn cried and said that shes only been supportive of Britney and wants her to be happy. You can see that video below. It really seemed like Britney was responding to her sister because she recently made two Instagram posts referencing people who werent supportive but claimed to be. In her last one, posted Saturday, Britney even called out her sister for performing her songs. Im including part of her captions below and you can click through on Britneys Instagram posts below for more.
There?s nothing worse than when the people closest to you who never showed up for you post things in regard to your situation whatever it may be and speak righteously for support ? there?s nothing worse than that !!!! How dare the people you love the most say anything at all ? did they even put a hand out to even lift me up at the TIME !!!??? How dare you make it public that NOW you CARE ? did you put your hand out when I was drowning ???? Again ? NO ? so if you?re reading this and you know who you are ? and you actually have the nerve to say anything about my situation just to save face for yourself publicly !!!
For those of you who choose to criticize my dancing videos look Im not gonna be performing on any stages anytime soon with my dad handling what I wear, say, do, or think ?????? ?!!!! Ive done that for the past 13 years Id much rather share videos YES from my living room instead of onstage in Vegas where some people were so far gone they couldnt even shake my hand and I ended up getting a contact high from weed all the time which I didnt mind but it would have been nice to be able to go to the mother f-king spa ??????????? !!!! And no Im not gonna put on heavy makeup and try try try on stage again and not be able to do the real deal with remixes of my songs for years and begging to put my new music in my show for MY fans so I quit !!!! I dont like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed MY SONGS to remixes !!!!! My so-called support system hurt me deeply !!!! This conservatorship killed my dreams so all I have is hope and hope is the only thing in this world that is very hard to kill
[From Britney Spears on Instagram]
In the end of that second caption she told people who didnt wish her well to go fck themselves, basically. Good for her. There was a social media company controlling Britneys Instagram up until recently, but Bessemer Trust, the co-conservator of her estate, stepped down last week. Britney was also allowed to hire her own attorney last week. So I believe shes the one posting to her Instagram finally. Theres another post Britney before those with some spiritual stuff about the third eye. After she won in court she posted videos of herself riding a horse and cartwheeling.
As for her captions, I think shes saying that her sister and mom didnt go to bat for her. I dont blame Jamie Lynn for that particularly, because she was 17 when Britney was first put under a conservatorship by her dad. Jamie Lynn probably had no power or say and I would bet she was afraid of the press targeting her. Jamie Lynn also had a baby at that time, she was underage, and she saw how Britney lost custody of her boys. Its just a sad situation all around. Also people should stop criticizing Britney for dancing! I know thats not how social media works, but Britney loves dancing and I bet she misses that part of performing. Shes a creative, artistic person and she spent her whole life making money for other people while being controlled by them. I hope shell soon be able to do what she wants and go to the damn spa.
Jamie Lynn Spears addresses Britney?s conservatorship testimony in newly shared Instagram stories:
?I think it?s extremely clear since the day I was born I?ve only loved, adored, and supported my sister? I have nothing to gain or lose This situation does not affect me? pic.twitter.com/Symqw4zPYw

Britney Spearss 13 year conservatorship may finally be coming to an end. As weve heard, Britneys manager, co-conservator and court-appointed lawyer have all recently stepped down after her testimony in her case went public. A lot of people were surprised to hear how much Britneys life has been controlled under the conservatorship. In that initial testimony she also said that her existing lawyer did not inform her she had the right to petition the court to end it. Britney will be able to do that now, because shes been granted the right to hire her own lawyer. Britney spoke over the phone in an open hearing in court yesterday. She described how shes been abused by her father and has been scared of him since she was a child. She also said that she would like to press charges against him for conservatorship abuse. CNN did some bullet points that sum up the latest developments in Britneys case well.
New attorney: Spears has retained former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart, who attended the hearing Wednesday. The decision came after Spears told Judge Brenda Penny at a hearing last month that she wanted to hire her own attorney to advocate on her behalf, stating that she had been forced by her conservators to perform, take lithium and remain on birth control against her will.
Calls for justice: An emotional Spears said she would like to bring formal charges against her father Jamie over his role in the conservatorship. I would like to charge my father with conservatorship abuse,? said Spears, speaking to the court by phone, breaking down in tears at times. ?I want to press charges against my father today,? Spears said. ?I want an investigation into my dad.?
Heartbreaking testimony: At one point during the hearing, Spears said she felt that those in the conservatorship were trying to kill me. If this is not abuse, I dont know what is, the singer added. Spears called her conservatorship fking cruelty. Spears told the court she was not willing to be evaluated to remove her father from the conservatorship, saying she has ?serious abandonment issues.?
New attorney speaks: Spears? new lawyer called on her father Jamie to voluntarily step down as her conservator, saying it was ?in the best interest? of his client. ?Jamie Spears should be removed as conservator because it is in [the] best interest of the conservatee,? Rosengart, a veteran entertainment litigator now representing the singer, said outside the courthouse today. ?We will be moving promptly and aggressively for his removal. The question remains, why is he involved? He should step down voluntarily because that?s what?s in the best interest of the conservatee,? he added.
[From CNN]
I wonder if Britneys dad will just see the writing on the wall and step down as her lawyer is requesting. Its only going to get worse for him if he continues to use Britneys money to try to control and abuse her. The world knows what Britney has been going through under her fathers control. Plus, as so many of you have pointed out, how is she only worth $60 million at this point? She has one of the most popular fragrance lines and she had a Vegas residency for four years! Hopefully Britneys sad case will set an example for others who are using conservatorships as a means of financial control, and hopefully shell be free of it soon.

Over the last week or so there have been signs of a civil war brewing among Britneys conservatorship team. Britneys longterm manager, Larry Rudolph, resigned, as did the co-conservator of her estate, Bessemer Trust. Britneys court-appointed lawyer has also asked to step down. Meanwhile the conservator of her person, Jodi Montgomery, asked the court for $50,000 a month to go towards security because shes been getting death threats since Britneys testimony went public. However Britneys sole estate conservator, her father Jamie, asked he court to deny that. In response Jodis side has filed documents stating that Jamie has used over $2 million of Britneys money defending himself.
Amid all that, E! has alleged insider quotes from Britney about how shes feeling.
A source connected to the pop star exclusively tells E! News on Wednesday, July 7 that Britney feels these moves are steps in the right direction.
Shes finally feeling hopeful about the future, the insider shares. She thinks people are resigning because they know she is speaking the truth. She is relieved her attorney resigned and hopes that if she can pick her own lawyer, it means the judge is leaning towards terminating the conservatorship.
The source continues, Shes trying to be patient and see what happens. She is happy that things are starting to happen, and that the truth has finally come out.
While I have hope that this means Britney is getting more of her side out, its also possible these quotes are just from the people around Britney who are still trying to control the narrative. I really hope this means that things are turning around for her and that shell be able to get out of this conservatorship.
The NY Times has a story about conservatorship and guardianship abuse that includes profiles of two disabled people who were able to get out of conservatorships with great effort. Theres a less serious option called supported decision-making that can help people make difficult life decisions without taking away their civil rights. In Britneys case this wouldnt have allowed her family to control her vast fortune, so it likely wasnt even considered. Hopefully Britneys situation will help bring about much-needed changes to conservatorship and guardianship law.

Earlier this week Britney Spearss court-appointed lawyer, Sam Ingham, requested to step down once Britney gets another attorney. After Ingham resigned, Britneys conservator of her person, Jodi Montgomery, requested that a guardian be appointed to help Britney select her own attorney, without further medical evaluation, as Britney requested. Britneys testimony in her case, made public two weeks ago, really blew the lid off whats been happening to her the past 13 years. Shes been controlled, emotionally and physically, to the point where she cant choose when to get her hair and nails done or which friends to see. Worse than that was the fact that she has an IUD in that she cant remove without permission. The Ronan Farrow New Yorker piece detailed more of the human rights abuses that Britney has endured.
Britneys conservator, Jodi Montgomery, is feeling the heat now that the public knows whats been happening to Britney. She says shes received death threats and she petitioned the court for $50k a month, from Britneys estate naturally, to hire private security. Britneys father Jamie, the only conservator left now that Bessemer Trust has stepped down, is trying to deny that request. It looks like theres a civil war happening among Britneys conservators. Deadline explains this latest development.
As the exits and resignations from Britney Spears? controversial conservatorship snowball, the focus has now turned to the bottom line of the singer?s more than $50 million fortune. Specifically, one day after temporary co-conservator Jodi Montgomery requested big bucks for increased security amidst death threats, the singer?s father and co-conservator wants to solidly put the kibosh on handing out any more cash.
?If the Court grants the Ex Parte Petition, it is anticipated that Ms. Montgomery will not be the only one requesting additional protection to be paid by the Conservatorship Estate,? the opposition from the elder Spears states (read it here). ?The nasty rhetoric and threatening emails, social media posts, and voicemail messages are pervasive and ongoing and impact multiple people involved in or
