Maybe it speaks to Kelly Clarkson?s popularity within the music and entertainment industry that her divorce filing was, at most, a one-day story. I?m pretty sure there?s some salacious tea involved with Kelly filing for divorce from Brandon Blackstock, but no one is saying much of anything, and I think that?s out of respect for Kelly. It?s an interesting change, because recent celebrity-divorce announcements have been full of drama. So what?s the official word about Kelly and Brandon? They were having problems before the pandemic and the lockdown only made it worse.
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock hoped things would work out between them, but quarantine only made things worse. A source tells ET that some of the couples friends were surprised by the news that the Since U Been Gone singer filed for divorce, but those closest to them know its been difficult.
The source says: Kelly and Brandon had been having problems for several months and were making a conscious effort to work things out. They both hoped quarantining away from L.A. in Montana would help them work things out in their marriage, but instead the change in environment was actually detrimental. The constant time together seemed to make an already challenging situation worse, they note, adding that The Voice coachs career definitely helped to keep her mind off things, but this recent downtime gave her the time she needed to think about her life and her marriage.
The source also says Clarkson started the divorce process theyd both been dreading a few weeks ago, after Kelly knew she just needed to follow her heart and finally realized divorce was her only option.
Kelly and Brandon havent cut each other off; they are still talking to one another. They are both heartbroken, but their plan is to put the kids first, the source adds. Their focus is on co-parenting and moving forward, as this is the last place they ever thought they would be. They both understand divorce is never easy for children, but Kelly and Brandon are great parents. Itll just take time.
The source says Clarkson has always been a very organized businesswoman, so her decision to have a prenup just reflects that and protects her earnings. Kelly is very kindhearted, generous and giving, so Brandon will be just fine.
ET confirmed on Thursday that the singer filed for divorce June 4, with Clarkson citing irreconcilable differences in her filing. According to court documents obtained by ET, she listed the separation date as TBD and asked for joint legal and physical custody of River and Remington. Clarkson also asked the court to terminate the ability to award spousal support to Blackstock. She is asking the court enforce their premarital agreement and that both parties cover their own attorneys fees. Shes also asking that her last name legally be restored to Clarkson, after taking Blackstocks name. Property and asset division are unknown at this time and will be determined at a later date.
[From ET]
I?m proud of Kelly for being so organized, for having a prenup and for asking the court to enforce it. Curious that she asked the court to not award spousal support to Brandon perhaps the particular financials are still TBD as well, and it?s possible Kelly will offer him more of a ?one time deal,? a settlement with no spousal support. That seems entirely possible, especially if he promises to be discreet and he signs a NDA. As for the idea that this is a ?corona divorce,? I do think it?s completely legit that all of these celebrities (and many non-celebs) are not used to spending this much time with their families and spouses, and there will be a very real spike in divorces this year and next.

Kelly Clarkson married Brandon Blackstock in October 2013. She was pregnant with their first child together when they got married, and they welcomed River Rose in 2014, and then Remington Alexander in 2016. There was always a strange kind of vibe to Brandon and their marriage. Just weeks after their 2013 wedding, there were rumors (strong rumors) that Brandon cheated on Kelly. Her popularity and what I would assume her money whitewashed those rumors in the mainstream press, and Kelly always gushed about Brandon a little bit too much, especially regarding their amazing sex life (hm). And now it?s all gone to hell in a BIG hurry. Kelly has filed for divorce.
Kelly Clarkson is ending her nearly seven-year marriage to husband Brandon Blackstock. Citing irreconcilable differences, the singer, 38, filed for divorce in Los Angeles on June 4, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE on Thursday. The papers list the couples separation date as TBD.
Clarkson and Blackstock, who wed in October 2013, share two kids: daughter River Rose, 6 on Friday, and son Remington Alexander, 4. He is also father to son Seth, 13, and daughter Savannah, 18, from a previous marriage.
Clarkson had been social distancing at the couples Montana ranch with Blackstock and their children amid the coronavirus pandemic, even filming remote episodes of her talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show from their home. Clarkson put her Los Angeles home on the market for nearly $10 million in April, but has since removed it. Their family had been living full-time at their home in L.A. after they relocated from Tennessee so Clarkson can film her NBC daytime program.
[From People]
Yeah, my immediate thought was ?he was cheating? but my second thought was ?another coronavirus divorce.? The pandemic and more than that, the lockdown has forced a lot of already-rocky marriages to reach a boiling point. Kelly is reportedly worth about $45 million, and she?s already asking the court to enforce the existing prenup (clever girl). She?s asking the court to order joint legal custody of their two kids as well. There?s some Twitter tea I was trying to crowdsource about the Blackstock family and how Brandon?s father was married to Reba McIntyre and how his dad was rumored to be a womanizer too. Hm. Learned behaviors.
The Blast broke the story and they ran like twenty follow-ups, one of which was that their ?sources? say that the split is totally amicable and there was no affair, and their friends were shocked because Kelly and Brandon always seemed so loved up.

| Kelly Clarkson: 'I am not a morning person, I am a vampire' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

My alarm is set for 5:00 am every day and I often wake up at 4:30 and am legitimately happy about it. I cant remember the last time I hit snooze. Kaiser and Hecate are also morning people, which is why we work earlier and are off by the early afternoon on weekdays. There?s SCIENCE that morning people live longer (although like all other studies hyped by the media its probably bogus in key ways. In fact I found another article, likely written by a night owl, with supposed evidence that theyre smarter but that morning people are happier). That leads us to this interview with Kelly Clarkson saying that shes a night person. I just cant relate to those people. Im sure night people feel the same about us larks. Were crazy but we get sh-t done. Heres what she told People:
As for her favorite hobby, Clarkson says it?s quilting ? in fact, she made all the coaches blankets earlier this year. ?I love putting on vinyl and having wine and quilting,? she says. ?It?s fun. I?m not great at it, but I like it.?
When asked whether she?s an early bird or a night owl, Clarkson says she?s ?not a morning person? even with four children ? she has daughter River Rose, 4, and son Remington Alexander, 2, with husband Brandon Blackstock and is a stepmom to her husband?s daughter Savannah, 17, and son Seth, 13, from a previous marriage.
?I love the night,? she says. ?I am a vampire.?
[From People]
My boyfriend is more of a night person than me although weve been able to compromise on that somewhat. We only have about an hour and a half difference, which isnt bad. There are people who take it to the extreme though, like Kelly and like my brother, who incidentally is a musician too. Maybe whether were owls or larks is heavily influenced by our professions, or perhaps we choose professions that align with our sleeping patterns. Creative types and people who work second shift and later jobs, like my cousin and his new wife, who work in the restaurant industry, need to stay up later. My cousins wedding rehearsal dinner ran so late I almost fell asleep at the table.
Sidenote: remember the story I covered earlier this week, about Vanessa Hudgens raving about exercise, where I said Exercise is my thing but you couldn?t pay me to knit or do crafts? Kelly Clarkson just said she loved quilting and shes mentioned many times that she hates exercise! Im sure there are people who love both but this is funny to me.

| Kelly Clarkson got a daytime talk show on NBC, will be the lead-in for 'Ellen' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Last month, it was reported that Kelly Clarkson was shooting a pilot for her own talk show. Well, the show got picked up and will hit the airwaves in the fall of 2019.
Deadline reports that the show, creatively titled The Kelly Clarkson Show, will air as a lead-in for Ellen on NBC-owned affiliates in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Miami, San Diego and Hartford, Connecticut. It will also air in Boston in a different time slot. Paul Telegdy, President of NBC Entertainments Alternative & Reality Group released a statement.
?The incomparable Kelly Clarkson takes everything she touches to another level and we couldn?t be happier to bring her talent, humor, generosity and compassion to daytime next year. With Kelly?s cross-generational appeal and extraordinary ability to understand and connect with viewers, The Kelly Clarkson Show will have something for everyone.?
This sounds like the perfect show to air before Ellen, as it includes many of the same elements ?remarkable stories, celebrity guests, spontaneous surprises, humor, heart and, of course, good music.?
Kelly, who will be working double duty for NBC with the new talk show as well as her being part of The Voice for its 15th and 16th seasons, is enthusiastic. She said, ?I love connecting with people, playing games, music and finding ways to help or give back to communities/organizations. Having my own talk show where I get to do all of these things is pretty much a dream job!? This really is going to be Ellen Lite, isn?t it?
The singer was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night, where she spilled the beans about the new show, admitting to Jimmy ?I love talking. It?s my favorite pastime.? She went on to describe what viewers are in for. Her touring band will be backing her up on the show and, ?We sing every day on the show. I do this fan request thing that?s fun. On the pilot, I got people to sing with me and do little skits. It?s very musical as well. It would be weird if it wasn?t! If you don?t like music, you probably shouldn?t watch it.? Well, I?ve been warned.
Kelly seems cool, she has a good personality, but I?m not sure if the world needs another daytime talk show, especially one that sounds like an almost carbon copy of Ellen, with singing replacing dancing. Of course, what do I know? As long as I can still get my Judge Judy and Price is Right fix when Im home sick (or ?home sick?), anyone else can do whatever they want on daytime TV.

| Kelly Clarkson may have lost 37 lbs but 'weight loss wasn't the goal' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
On Monday we discussed Kelly Clarkson?s 37-pound weight loss. Although noticeably slimmer, Kelly had avoided commenting on her new figure for some time. When she did address the comments, she admitted to eating ?clean? to treat an undisclosed thyroid and autoimmune disorder. Kelly has become known as a body positivity role model, one who embraces the notion of love the skin youre in. So, of course, now that shes slimmed down, people are trying to accuse her of being a hypocrite. Kelly is doubling down on the fact that her weight loss is a result of managing her health and not because she felt she needed to lose weight.
Kelly Clarkson is known for loving the skin she?s in, and even with her new look, that body positive attitude hasn?t changed.
In this week?s issue, a source tells PEOPLE that the changes Clarkson has made are for her overall health and wellness. ?Weight loss wasn?t the goal,? says the source, confirming that Clarkson has now lost about 37 lbs. ?This was an overall health approach.?
After being diagnosed with a problem relating to her thyroid (an endocrine gland that stores and produces hormones and can affect energy and weight), the singer picked up The Plant Paradox, a 2017 book and corresponding dietary regimen that advocates so-called clean eating and reducing consumption of foods high in proteins called lectins.
Clarkson based her diet on the bestseller by Dr. Steven R. Gundry ? which advises cutting several types of whole grains, dairy products, nuts and vegetables such as tomatoes, claiming they cause harmful inflammation, a theory that has been debated.
According to the source, ?[Kelly] had already lost a ton of weight when I saw her in March.? But the outspokenly body positive singer ? who?s taken body shamers to task over the years and once told Attitude magazine she was ?miserable? being skinny ? never set out to change her appearance.
[From People]
I like Kelly so I am still giving her the benefit of the doubt. I think she made changes for her health, whatever was going on, and it resulted in a weight loss. Beyond that, I don?t know what happened. It could be that the doctor said that losing weight would improve her condition. But at this point, I still believe Kelly?s motivation was her health and not a desire to obtain a more marketable silhouette. And I do think it?s important to her that her fans know that and still feel good about their bodies regardless of size.
I am concerned about her promotion for this book, though. If the intent is to promote clean eating and educating ourselves on where our food comes from and how our bodies process it, then say that. Instead, Kelly?s weight loss discussion centers around this particular book and author. Is Kelly schilling for it? I?m very happy that Kelly?s health has benefitted so dramatically with her new-found diet. But I assumed that it?s being done under a doctor?s supervision giving her pre-existing issues because the book itself has been debated and fact-checked and found lacking. At best, professionals advise caution if you plan to follow it. So I?m more concerned with Kelly promoting the book than I am the message shes sending.

| Kelly Clarkson is 'not above' spanking her kids: 'I find nothing wrong with a spanking' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
When I was a kid, growing up in the South, most parents would physically punish their kids. I?m sure the no-spanking movement was already taking hold in other parts of the country at that time, but it?s true that many Southern parents grew up with ?whoopings? or spankings or some kind of physical punishment, and they did the same to their kids. Nowadays, it absolutely feels like Parents Who Spank are an oddity, a throwback, like their methods are bizarre and arcane. Anyway, in what I?m sure will be a major throwdown on the mommy blogs, Kelly Clarkson said this week that she?s ?not above? spanking her kids. I would assume she?s just talking about her daughter, who is 3 years old, and not referencing her baby son.
Kelly Clarkson isn?t opposed to a spanking.
?I?m not above a spanking, which people aren?t necessarily into,? she told a Rochester-based radio station last week. ?And I don?t mean like hitting her hard, I just mean a spanking. My parents spanked me and I did fine in life and I feel fine about it,? she explained. While she, personally, sees nothing wrong with a little spank, she?s aware that it?s a belief not shared by everyone.
?So that?s a tricky thing when you?re out in public, ?cause then people are like, you know, they think that?s wrong or something, but I find nothing wrong with a spanking,? she said, before adding, ?I warn her. I?m like, ?Hi, I?m gonna spank you on your bottom if you don?t stop right now. Like, this is ridiculous.’?
The pop star, 35, made clear that her southern upbringing informs her belief about spanking as a form of discipline.
?I?m from the South, y?all, so we get spankings,? she said. ?My mom would call the principal if I ever ended up in the principal?s office and give permission for her to spank me?I?m a well-rounded individual with a lot of character, so I think it?s fine.?
Clarkson shares daughter River Rose, 3, and son Remington Alexander, 1, with husband Brandon Blackstock. But the ?American Idol? winner is done having kids, as she revealed that she got her tubes tied and Blackstock had a vasectomy following Remington?s birth.
[From Page Six]
I feel like this is very much ?different strokes for different folks? but I?m saying that because – to me – nothing Kelly says reads as some kind of confessional that she?s an abusive parent. Some parents spank, most don?t, and it?s a choice. Again, that?s how I see it, and I?m speaking as a childfree woman who chuckles to myself whenever I see a child acting like a melodramatic brat in public, especially when the mother is trying to calm the child down with all of those trendy methods currently in fashion. To me, it?s not so much pro or anti spanking, it?s pro or anti discipline. There are a million ways to effectively discipline your kids that don?t involve any kind of physical punishment, and it?s clear that Kelly is using ?spanking? as a threat and some kind of warning system when River is misbehaving. There are some parents who spank who have well-adjusted kids, and some parents who spank and their kids are totally traumatized and f–ked up. Who knows how Kelly?s kids will end up? I don?t know. But I bet they won?t misbehave much in public.

Kelly Clarkson’s daughter River, 3, is a big Wonder Woman fan apparently. This made me raise my eyebrows as I wouldn’t let a three year-old see Wonder Woman, but Kelly knows that people are judging her and has a response to that. She claims that “all the grown up stuff goes over [River's] head.” Kelly said this back in October when she gushed about meeting Gal Gadot in person at the Variety Power of Women event. I didn’t hear about that back then but Kelly’s remarks are getting press again now that Gal sent River a signed Wonder Woman photograph and Wonder Woman figurines. That was sweet of her to remember! Here’s Kelly’s post about that:
THANK YOU SO MUCH @gal_gadot for the awesome presents for River!! She LOVES them! You?ve made a little girl very happy ? #galgadotforthewin pic.twitter.com/ZDroA9If8R

| Kelly Clarkson: 'Once I got married and had kids, my empowerment grew' | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Kelly Clarkson?s new album, The Meaning of Life, dropped this week. I haven?t heard it yet but I unabashedly love Kelly and generally like her music. Fortunately for us, new music means more Kelly as she makes her way along the promotional path. Recently she made headlines by saying ?When I was really skinny, I wanted to kill myself.? That singular quote was pulled out of context by most agencies. CB elaborated nicely about Kelly?s point being that nobody cared about her mental state because of her physical appearance. Because Kelly dares to be comfortable in her own skin, it seems to be what most people want to talk about. Like, how dare she live her best life at a normal size. Recently Kelly furthered her comments about her state of mind and how now, as a wife and mother, she feels more empowered than ever.
While Clarkson, 35, says she?s ?never felt the need to be a certain weight,? there have been moments of insecurity.
In 2007 she admitted she was bulimic for a short time in her early teens because she felt she?d get better parts in her school musicals if she was thinner. And she recently toldAttitudemagazine, ?When I was really skinny, I wanted to kill myself. I was miserable, like, inside and out, for four years of my life. But no one cared, because aesthetically you make sense.?
But at her recent iHeartRadio album-release party in L.A., Clarkson clarified those comments had more to do with having to smile through the ?arranged marriage? of her first post-Idolrecord deal and the stresses of her career rather than feeling suicidal: ?People are always pushing us, but we?re also pushing ourselves and you don?t really know your limits until it?s too late sometimes.?
Helping Clarkson find balance is her husband, music manager Brandon Blackstock, 40, andtheir children? Clarkson?s stepkids Savannah and Seth, as well as daughter River Rose, 3, and 18-month-old sonRemington Alexander.
?I feel sexy and far more intelligent and wiser,? Clarkson says of life as a wife and mom. ?I don?t think you have to get married. I don?t think you have to have children. But once I got married and had kids, my level of empowerment grew to another level.?
Clarkson credits her family for giving her the life experience necessary to recordMeaning of Life.
?A lot of these songs you have to have lived for you to be able to sing them,? she says. ?And I?m living!?
[From People]
Maybe I?m too much of a Kelly apologist but I feel like this is being taken out of context as well. The way I read her comment was that she was saying public perception is that once you become a mom and married, your sex appeal index drops, which affects your self worth. But what she?s discovered is that contrary to that, she feels even stronger and sexier than ever before. I really don?t think she ? in any way ? is saying a woman needs to be married or have kids to feel empowered. The way I see it is, like many of you said similarly, my 40s have been the best decade of my life. In my case, I just happened to have been married with kids during my 40s so it?s hard to separate the two.
Honestly, I think Kelly is mainly addressing people associating weight gain with unhappiness and trying to say it isn?t true. I am all here for that message. Weight gain can come from childbirth, treatment that is saving your life, menopause, as well as simply not making weight your sole focus. There are many positive reasons a person moves away from a size 2, so let?s celebrate them.

| Kelly Clarkson lost millions after refusing to share song writing credit with Dr. Luke | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|

|
|
|
Kelly Clarkson was one of the prominent women who came out in support of Kesha in her allegations of sexual misconduct and bullying against music producer Dr. Luke. Kelly’s support spoke volumes because it stemmed from her own experience of having worked with him. In a recent radio interview she admitted her situation was different from Kesha?s in that there wasn’t sexual harassment but claimed that Dr. Luke ?just lied a lot,? and that, ?he?s difficult to work with, kind of demeaning.? Kelly admitted to Z100 radio show that she was so disgusted at being forced by her record label to work with Luke, she refused a song writing credit for her song My Life Would Suck Without You because she didn’t even want her name next to his. It?s a powerful statement made even more so by the fact that without a writing credit, she can?t get royalties. Given that song?s popularity, Kelly?s act of defiance cost her millions.
Kelly Clarkson has revealed she willingly lost “hundreds of thousands of dollars,” “or millions,” in royaltiesfor refusing to associate herself withDr. Luke as aco-writer on her 2009 single”My Life Would Suck Without You.”
In a new interview with Z100, the singer said,”I was making a point to the people working with me, going, ‘This is how much I didn’t want to do this.’ I don’t care about the money. I don’t care about, oh, ‘You’re going to be the most famous person ever if you do this.’ That’s not what holds weight in my life.”
Last year,Clarkson allegedthat those who worked at herrecord label at the time, RCA (owned by parent company Sony), said they would not releaseher album if she did not work with Dr. Luke.
“Basically, they were gonna sit on my record unless I did what they wanted. I was so frustrated because I literally said, ‘Anyone in the world but this one person. I will work with anyone you want to put in my path.’ I love people. I think that’s apparent. I think I’m a nice person, that’s apparent. It was just this one thing, and I asked not to work with Dr. Luke just because I had not a good experience with him,” said Clarkson. “If an artist like me, Igenerally love everyone. You have to really be a special kind of … for me not to like you.”
“They brought up writing credit at the end,” she went on.”They were like, ‘Well, you changed the song.’ And I was like, ‘I don’t want my name near his. I want to pretend this didn’t happen in my life and I want to forget it.’”
[From Billboard]
I admit ignorance to how sleazy entertainment deals can be. I still get shocked by how bad it gets. Kelly also appeared on the Elvis Duran radio show and spoke more about saying ?no? to label’s demands. When one of the DJs asked if labels really did that, Kelly?s response was ?are you kidding me?? And let?s remember that Kelly has the money, clout and family support to make these demands. Think about the starving artist who has to choose between not being able to pay rent or working with a known predator. Good for Kelly for pulling back the curtain on these sketchy dealings. Let?s hope it helps those who feel they can’t say no.
Kelly recognizes Dr. Luke’s talent, even though she reviles him as a human. I think he crosses the ?separate the artist from their art? line for me. I can?t condone this reprobate and will make a conscious effort to avoid music from which he profits. I will, however, consider my judgement for those that work with him because it doesn?t sound like they have a choice.
Got to hang with @elvisduranshow this morning! Thank y'all for always being so nice and supportive!!
